SHEYENNE -- James Nilson, 83, Sheyenne, died May 28, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne. Further arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Vivian Norman
NEW SALEM -- Vivian Lee Norman, 54, New Salem, died May 27, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt. Further arrangements are pending at Keplin Funeral Home, Rolette.

Pauline Simmons
GLEN ULLIN -- Pauline Simmons, 85, Glen Ullin, died of natural causes May 26, 2001, in a Glen Ullin care center. Known lovingly by her friends and family by the nicknames of "Pep" or "Pepper," Pauline was the last surviving child of George and Magdalina Dockter of LInton. Pauline spent most of her adult life in or near the Los Angeles, Calif., area. She and her husband, Dean L. Simmons, owned and managed an advertising agency and recording studio until Dean passed away in 1967. Pauline is survived by a number of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Her remains will be laid to rest next to her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

Art Wentz
WISHEK -- Art Wentz, 87, Wishek, died May 23, 2001, in the Wishek nursing home. Services were held May 28 at United Methodist Church, Streeter, with the Rev. Grant Piehl officiating. Burial was in Streeter Cemetery. Art was born Aug. 26, 1913, on the family farm southwest of Streeter, the son of William Wentz and Margaret (Trautman) Wentz. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity. He and Alice Rau were married Oct. 20, 1936, at Napoleon. They made their home 14 miles southwest of Streeter, where they farmed until their retirement in 1968. They moved to Bismarck where he worked for Kirschenmann Manufacturing, later going to work at the North Dakota State Penitentiary as a prison guard. He also worked as a taxi cab driver for a short while. In 1994 they entered the Gackle Care Center. Following the death of his wife on March 31, 1997, he continued to reside in Gackle until entering the Wishek Nursing Home in the fall of 2000. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bismarck. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Elta and Milton Iszler Schauer, Gackle; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ervin and Alma Wentz, Philomath, Ore., and Reuben and Helen Wentz, Napoleon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers. (Haut Funeral Home, Gackle)

Thomas Cousins Sr.
CARRINGTON -- Thomas H. Cousins Sr., 95, Carrington, died May 28, 2001, in a Carrington care center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Golden Acres Manor, Carrington. Burial will be in the city cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Jr., Roundup, Mont., and John, Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Mary Louise Klein, Sacramento, Calif., Sheila Cousins, Billings, Mont., and Colleen Holum, Indio, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Margret Fandrich
CARRINGTON -- Margret B. Fandrich, 82, Carrington, died May 29, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Federated Church, Carrington. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by four sons, James, Carrington, Dennis, Moorhead, Minn., Marvin, Aberdeen, S.D., and Cletus, Fergus Falls, Minn.; three daughters, Janet Enders, Carson City, Nev., Fay Fandrich, Hutchinson, Minn., and Gail Lange, Knob Noster, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Beatrice Hogan, St. Paul, Minn. Clarence Fisher
HENSLER -- Clarence A. Fisher, 83, Hensler, died May 29, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Washburn. Burial will be in Hensler Cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Lange, Hensler; two sons, Arnold, Hensler, and Arlen, Mandan; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Merrill, Renton, Wash. Robert Humann
NAPOLEON -- Robert Humann, 65, Napoleon, died May 29, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Burial will be in the city cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mary; five sons, Kevin, Middletown, N.J., and Bob, Dean, Lyle and Glenn, all of Bismarck; four grandchildren; seven brothers, Edwin, St. Maries, Idaho, Rueben and Harry, both of Hazelton, Alvin, Clinton, Utah, Leroy, Menoken, Monte, Jackson, Wyo., and Terry, Livingston, Mont.; and three sisters, Ella Kalberer and Esther Huber, both of Hazelton, and Eunice Nelson, Bismarck. Myrtle E. Jacobson, 82, Moorhead, Minn., formerly of Bismarck and Fargo, died May 27, 2001, in a Moorhead health care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Evangel Assembly of God, Moorhead. Burial will be in South Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rothsay, Minn. She is survived by one daughter, Vernes Johnson, Moorhead, Minn.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three foster daughters; nine foster grandchildren; five foster great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Edwin Livingood, Puyallup, Wash., Lester Livingood, Lacey, Wash., Curtis Livingood, Olivia, Minn., Leonard Livingood, Callaway, Minn., Dean Livingood, Detroit Lakes, Minn., Dale Livingood, Savannah, Ga., and Harlan Livingood, Lowry, Minn.; and three sisters, Gladys Voxland, Moorhead, Minn., and Charlene Johnson and Marlys Brahmer, both of Detroit Lakes, Minn. Evelyn Janke
JAMESTOWN -- Evelyn C. Janke, 75, Jamestown, died May 29, 2001, in a Sioux Falls, S.D., hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown. Burial will be in Fischer Cemetery, north of Tappen. She is survived by her children, Celia Jundt, Sioux Falls, S.D., Lois Renner, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Charles Janke, Cleveland, and Allen Janke, Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Hendrichs, Tucson, Ariz.

Erling Jodock
WILLISTON -- Erling Jodock, 89, Williston and Wildrose, died May 30, 2001, in a Williston medical center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Elton Just
MINOT -- Elton Dale Just, 66, Minot, died May 29, 2001, in a Minot medical center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Visitation will continue at the church Friday from noon until time of services. Elton was born Sept. 1, 1934, on the family farm south of Mercer, to Emanuel and Justina (Bender) Just. Elton attended a rural township school and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1951. He married Doris Rath Dec. 23, 1956, in Turtle Lake. In the spring of 1957, Elton and Doris moved to Minot, where he was employed with Coca-Cola for five years and with for Manchester Biscuit for two years. In 1963 Elton was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1992. From 1994 until the time of his death, Elton worked part-time for Agriliance as a truck driver. Elton enjoyed traveling with his wife. They had spent the last five winters at their home in Mission, Texas. He enjoyed woodworking, going to auctions and collecting antiques with his wife. Elton was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers No. 1152 and of Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot. He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Brenda, Jeff and Virginia and Greg and Darla; four grandchildren, Derek Just, Kyler Just, Mike Aldridge and Amber Widmayer; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Viola and Fred Fredericksen and Loretta and Robert Schiermeister, all of Bismarck, Alice and Ted Neumiller, Turtle Lake, Verline and Verle Jensen, Ocean Park, Wash., and Rosie and Leo Free, Lincoln; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Violet, Bismarck, and Myron and Karen, Mercer.

Helmer Kinden
NEW TOWN -- Helmer Kinden, 86, New Town, died May 30, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Johnson Funeral Home, New Town.

Genevieve Klein
Genevieve Antoinette Klein, 81, Bismarck, died May 28, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Dan Berg officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, where a rosary and vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services. Genevieve was born Sept. 14, 1919, the daughter of Olaf and Inga (Bagley) Kvislen, in Jamestown. She attended school at Sanborn. In March 1944 she went to work for the Highway Patrol as bookkeeper and left in July 1955. While working at the patrol office, she was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Bismarck. Genevieve also worked for the Valley City auditor's office from October 1955 to July 1959, and she was appointed assistant auditor in 1957. Genevieve married Eugene M. Klein on July 7, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Sanborn. He passed away Aug. 8, 1981. Genevieve was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She is survived by one brother, Carl (Kathryn) Kvislen, Finley; one sister, Charlotte Burgess, Bismarck; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Walter (Donna) Butler, Mandan; 19 stepgrandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Helen Miller
Helen G. Miller, 82, Wichita, Kan., died May 30, 2001, in a Mandan care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bismarck Funeral Home. Further arrangements are pending.

Paulina Moser
Paulina Moser, 90, Portland, Ore., formerly of Pollock, S.D., died May 30, 2001, in Portland. Arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

JAMESTOWN -- Marlene A. Nelms, 44, Jamestown, died May 29, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her mother, Violet Tounsand, Paragould, Ark.; her father, Kenneth Collins, Blairsville, Ga.; two sisters, Gale Nocis, Pensacola, Fla., and Terri Slatton, Truman, Ark.; and one brother, Michael Collins, Blairsville, Ga. Natilly O'Neill
WOODWORTH -- Natilly Jane O'Neill, infant daughter of Ronald and Janelle O'Neill, Woodworth, was born and died May 26, 2001, in a local hospital. She is survived by her parents, Ronald and Janelle O'Neill; her grandparents, Leo and Frieda Voll, Mandan, and Jim and Rosemary O'Neill, Woodworth; and her great-grandmother, Cecilia Jacob, Bismarck. Wayne Swanson
MINOT -- Wayne R. Swanson, 54, Minot, died May 28, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. He is survived by his mother, Florence Swanson, Miles City, Mont.; two sisters, Gail Heller, Minot, and Mavis Rogers, Miles City, Mont.; and two half-sisters, both of Washington.

Emma White
Emma White, 85, rural Baldwin, died May 29, 2001, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Boelter Funeral Home Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Emma was born April 3, 1916, in Baldwin, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Brocopp) Meril. She attended school in Baldwin and lived there all her life. She loved animals, especially cats and cows. If you came to Emma's house, you would find the walls of every room lined with pictures of her pet cats as well as other cats and cows. Emma also loved gardening and her home was surrounded with beautiful flowers from May through September. She was a wonderful gardener. When she wasn't outside, she would spend the day doing various crafts, knitting and crocheting. She also loved to do jigsaw puzzles. Emma was a bright, hardworking, independent lady. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Hildegarde Delaney
Hildegarde G. Delaney, 95, Dillon, Mont., formerly of Williston, died May 7, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Frances Fiegel
HALLIDAY -- Frances Fiegel, 82, Halliday, died May 7, 2001, in the Hazen hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at Our Lutheran Church, Halliday. Further arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.
