Elizabeth Miller, 84, Bismarck, died July 6, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Arrangements are pending with Bismarck Funeral Home.

Carol Moon
PICK CITY -- Carol Moon, 53, Pick City, died July 3, 2001, in the Hazen medical center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Hazen. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. CDT in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. She is survived by her husband, Ken; three sons, Patrick and Jacques, both of Fargo, and Jarard, Sioux Falls, S.D.; her mother, Helen Woerdehoff, New Hope, Minn.; and two sisters, Audrey Bendzick, New Prague, Minn., and Barb Ewald, Minnetonka, Minn. Andrew Olson Jr.
BRADDOCK -- Andrew M. Olson Jr., 68, formerly of Braddock, died July 2, 2001, in Valencia, Calif. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Funeral Home, Linton. Further arrangements are pending.

Maurine Salzsieder
Maurine Salzsieder, 87, Lemmon, S.D., died Dec. 4, 2000, in Sun City, Ariz. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Chapel, Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon. Inurnment will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon. She is survived by her husband, Elmer; and one sister, Rita Ann White, Lemmon.

Mary Wickstrom
Mary Wickstrom, 94, Red Wing, Minn., formerly of Bismarck, died July 3, 2001, in Red Wing. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck.

Richard Barth
Richard T. Barth, 70, 1832 Masterson Ave., Bismarck, died July 5, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Brad Stoltenow officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Richard was born April 19, 1931, at Crown Butte, to Matt and Monica (Yantzer) Barth. He was raised and educated in the St. Anthony area. He married Melba (Perschke) Nemec on May 28, 1953, in Bismarck. On March 16, 1972, he married Elma (Knoell) Schmidt in Bismarck. She died Dec. 23, 2000. In Richard's early years, he worked for Century Motors, Phillips 66 Bulk Plant and Fuller Brush. From 1982 to 1999 he worked for Curtis Industries before retiring in 1999. Richard worked most recently as a parts runner for Hedahl's after he "retired." Richard dearly loved all of his grandkids and spending time with them. He also enjoyed telling his stories and collecting John Deer tractors. He is survived by six daughters and five sons-in-law, Sharon and Mike Wolf, Rita and Jim Schmidt, Bonita Schmidt and Leon Bohe, Debra and Terry Hoerer, Darla and Wayne Ratzak and Candida and Tom Rhoades, all of Bismarck; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale and Tracy Barth, Dickinson, Glenn Schmidt and Gene and Cheryl Schmidt, all of Bismarck, and Gary and Lori (Gilman) Schmidt, St. Louis; 24 special grandchildren; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Bob and Gayle Barth and Dorothy Barth; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Wayne Forderer, Lil Sandwick, Darlene and Bob Brandner and Agnes Wagner and Phil. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma; his parents; one brother, Harold; and three infant brothers.

Herman Bonnet
GOODRICH -- Herman Bonnet, 87, rural Goodrich, died July 5, 2001, in the Harvey medical center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich. Burial will be in Lincolndale Cemetery, rural Denhoff. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Herman was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Lincoln Valley. He was the son of Gottleib and Christina (Pleines) Bonnet. He grew up and attended rural school in the Lincoln Valley area. He married Hildegard Dockter on April 14, 1941, at Lincoln Valley. They lived in the Lincoln Valley area north of Goodrich where they farmed and operated a dairy. Hildegard died Feb. 9, 2000. Herman was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. His pastimes included baseball when he was younger, horse shoes and a good game of pinochle. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Dorothy, Goodrich; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Todd Degenstein, Anamoose, and Darlene and Joe Sattler, Detroit, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Scharnowski, Monterey, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hildegard; one son, John; his parents; and three brothers, Gust, Otto and Ted.

John Carson
John Carson, 91, Dallas, Ore., formerly of Heaton and Chaseley, died July 7, 2001, in a Dallas care center. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden. Further arrangements are pending.

William Craven
WILLISTON -- William Craven, 87, Williston, died July 7, 2001, in a Glendive, Mont., care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Katherina Fuchs
ASHLEY -- Katherina Fuchs, 85, Ashley, died July 5, 2001, in the Ashley medical center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Ashley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Martz, Ashley; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Schaffer, Ashley. (Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley)

Herman Helgeson
Herman Iver "Bud" Helgeson, 83, The Dalles, Ore., died July 4, 2001, at his home. A memorial service was held July 7 at The Dalles Zion Lutheran Church. Bud was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Taylor, the seventh of eight children to Gilbert and Ida (Simons) Helgeson. He grew up in Taylor, then served in the CCC in North Dakota and Montana. Bud married Leona Marie Hausauer on June 29, 1942, in Glendive, Mont. They lived in Taylor until 1946, when they moved to Chaffee, where they lived until 1957. They moved to Idaho and Montana for a short time and then moved to Moro, Ore., where they lived for 11 years. At that time they moved to Prineville, Ore., where they lived for 20 years. In 1986, they moved to The Dalles to be closer to family. Bud farmed, drove truck, mined in Idaho, logged and worked heavy construction in Montana, worked maintenance and drove school bus at Moro Grade School and worked for Les Schwab Tires in Prineville. He is survived by his son, Robert "Bob" Helgeson and his wife, Martha, The Dalles; his daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Phillip "Gil" Gilman, The Dalles, and Jane and Martin E. Ferguson, San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, George T. Helgeson, Fargo; his sister, Helen Quisberg, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Mid Columbia Medical Center Health Foundation, 1700 E. 19th St., The Dalles, Ore. 97058.

Edna Johnson
LEEDS -- Edna M. Johnson, 93, Leeds, died July 6, 2001, in the Rugby medical center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Leeds Lutheran Church. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds.

Emil Kuntz
TURTLE LAKE -- Emil Kuntz, 69, Turtle Lake, died July 5, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Turtle Lake, with the Rev. Ed Korte officiating. Organist will be Sue Schlafmann. Burial will be in Turtle Lake Cemetery with military rites provided by Turtle Lake American Legion Post 133. Visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church. Emil Kuntz was born Sept. 25, 1931, near Raleigh, the son of Peter and Appolonia (Dirk) Kuntz. He grew up on his parents' farm and attended rural school near Raleigh. Emil served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Margaret "Peggy" Harmon on Dec. 27, 1955, at Carson. Emil owned an automotive repair shop in Carson for a number of years. He later worked road construction, moving his family to various communities throughout North Dakota. The couple moved to Turtle Lake in 1969 where he was employed as a mechanic for Haas Implement for 20 years. Emil retired from full-time employment in 1992. His wife passed away Nov. 26, 1991. Emil was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and Turtle Lake American Legion Post 133. He was also active with the Turtle Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He is survived by one daughter, Deb (Cal) Tuper, Aitkin, Minn.; three sons, Greg (Barb) Kuntz, Steele, Brad (Julie) Kuntz, Bismarck, and Cory (Louise) Kuntz, Navarre, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Randy, Nate and Josh Tuper, Travis and Wyatt Doepke, Preston Brokofsky, Curtis Kuntz and Shannon and Caleb Kuntz; three great-grandchildren, Hailey and Layn Tuper and Kaylor Korb; two sisters, Katherine Heinert, Bismarck, and Anne Hintz, Carson; one brother-in-law, Roger (Mary Jane) Harmon, Carson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; one son, Curtis; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Oliver Laine
NAPOLEON -- Oliver Laine, 78, Napoleon, died July 6, 2001, in the Linton hospital as the result of a farming accident. Arrangements are pending with Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.

HAZEN -- Elma Morast, 76, Hazen, died July 6, 2001, in the Hazen medical center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Hazen. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Raymond; three sons, Barry, Hazen, Monte, Melver, Iowa, and Kelly, New York City, N.Y.; one daughter, Jolene Schmitz, Thompson; five grandchildren; one brother, Vernon Mohl, Hazen; and four sisters, Frieda Huber and Gertie Isaak, both of Hazen, Erna Brown, La Habra, Calif., and Leona Kensmoe, Bismarck. He is survived by his wife, Viola, Canyon Country, Calif.; two daughters, Darcy Cain, Simi Valley, Calif., and Stacy Locke, Canyon Country, Calif.; five grandchildren; his mother, Lempi Olson, Bismarck; and one sister, Elaine Streyle, Linton.

Lorrain Shafer
REEDER -- Lorrain C. Shafer, 34, Reeder, died July 6, 2001, in the Hettinger medical center after suffering with hepatic disease. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Krebsbach Funeral Home Chapel, Bowman. Burial will be held at a later date in Reeder Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Joey; one daughter, Mary Elise, Littleton, Colo.; her parents, Joseph and Carroll Durco, Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Victoria Bohne, Wright, Wyo., and Rachael Allen, Denver, Colo.; and her grandmother, Mary Stevens, Littleton, Colo.

Geraldine Strong

VALLEY CITY -- Brenda J. Anderson, Valley City, died July 7, 2001, in Valley City after a long battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Valley City. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, near Valley City. She is survived by her parents, Beverly and Harold Anderson, Valley City; one brother, Bruce Anderson, Valley City; and three sisters, Debra Crawford, Valley City, Janell Tabor, Devils Lake, and Sara Oppegard, Mandan.
