WILLISTON -- William Craven, 87, Williston, died July 7, 2001, in a Glendive, Mont., care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. He is survived by one daughter, Eileen Kjorstad, New Brighton, Minn.; one son, William Jr., Williston; four grandchildren; and one brother, Jim, Portland, Ore. (Everson Funeral Home, Williston)

Gabrielle Dixon
PARSHALL -- Gabrielle Rose Dixon, infant daughter of Blaine and Monica Dixon, Parshall, was born and died July 6, 2001, in a Minot hospital. Private family services will be held on Tuesday. Further arrangements are pending with Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison.

Edward Jenner
WILLISTON -- Edward H. Jenner, 74, Williston, died July 7, 2001, in the Williston medical center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Edward McKeown
BOWMAN -- Edward McKeown, 98, Bowman, formerly of Rhame, died July 8, 2001, in a Bowman care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery, Rhame. He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary LaCroix, Rollette; two sons, Louis, Bowman, and Lloyd, Marmarth; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Elizabeth Miller
Elizabeth Anne Miller, 84, Bismarck, entered into eternal rest July 6, 2001. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Mary, Bismarck, with the Rev. Charlie Heidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Vincent's Care Center, Bismarck, and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Elizabeth was born March 22, 1917, the daughter of Nick and Anna (Schneider) Hagel, in Lefor. She married Frank Miller Jr. on Nov. 22, 1934. They farmed in Mott until 1961 when they moved to Bismarck. They were married 52 years, until Frank died in 1986. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Marla Miller, Pierre, S.D., and Phillip and Mary Miller, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Ray Wagendorf, Wilton; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Gertie Cook, Halliday, Kathryn Alphert, Dickinson, Anna Heidicker, Mansfield, Ohio, and Carolyn Ratsloff, Billings, Mont.; one brother, Tony Hagel, Yakima, Wash.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; two sons, Raymond and Reynold; one daughter, Janice; four brothers; and two sisters. Special thanks to her favorite nephew, Perry and Bonnie Cook.

John Mushik
John A. Mushik, 81, Mandan, died July 7, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the God's Child Project.

Gail Roen
BOWMAN -- Gail D. Roen, 55, Bowman, died July 6, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital after a struggle with cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bowman Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by her father, Leland Roen, Bowman; and two nephews. (Krebsbach Funeral Service, Bowman)

John Vogel
John F. Vogel, 72, Mandan, died July 6, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Milton Gohring
Milton Gohring, 66, Bismarck, died June 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Keith Ritchie officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to services at the church. Milt was born Nov. 23, 1934, at Napoleon, the son of Adam and Hulda (Grenz) Gohring. He grew up on the family farm and attended rural school. At the age of 16 he moved to Bismarck. He worked for Bismarck Cement and Concrete and Dunahey's Paint and Glass. On Dec. 19, 1954, Milt and Lucille Kirschenmann were married in Napoleon. He worked for Dakota Flooring before starting his own business, Master Floor Covering, as an installation mechanic. Milt was a lifetime member of the Elks and Eagles clubs. He especially loved to fish. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Vicki Gohring, DuVall, Wash., and DeLayne and Kris Gohring, Bellevue, Wash.; three granddaughters; one grandson; and one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Charles Dawson, Marysville, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.

Bertha Gress
RICHARDTON -- Bertha Gress, 87, Richardton, died June 20, 2001, in the Richardton health center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at Sacred Heart Monastery, Richardton. Further arrangements are pending with Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Ingebor Hove
HARVEY -- Ingebor Hove, 94, Harvey, died June 19, 2001, in a Harvey care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Bethany Lutheran Church, Harvey. Burial will be in St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, rural Harvey. She is survived by two sons, Lewis, Bismarck, and Jerry, Butte, Mont.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Irene Kost
Irene Kost, 80, Caliente, Calif., formerly of Herreid, S.D., died June 7, 2001, at her home. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery, Herreid. She is survived by one daughter, Paulette Hawley, Bakersfield, Calif.; one granddaughter; and four brothers, Eugene Fischer, Eureka, S.D., Victor Fischer and Gordon Fischer, both of Fargo, and Albert Fischer, Chula Vista, Calif. Jane Mitzel
Jane C. Mitzel, 78, formerly of Bismarck, died June 18, 2001 near Seattle, Wash. Services will be held at 11 a.m. PDT Friday at Yarington Funeral Home, Seattle. Burial will be in Riverton Crest Cemetery, Seattle. She is survived by her children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and remaining brothers and sisters.

Julia O'Brien
ROLLA -- Julia G. O'Brien, 92, Rolla, died June 20, 2001, in the Rolla medical center. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rolla Elementary School Commons. She is survived by two daughters, Julia Haberstroh, Rolla, and Mrs. Ardell Clouse, Rock Lake; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. (Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rolla)

John Rice Jr.
KEENE -- John Rice Jr., 76, Keene, died June 19, 2001, in a Keene care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Clear Creek Lutheran Church, Keene. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two daughters, Cheri Watterson, Green River, Wyo., and Wanda Radermecher, Farmington, Minn.; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; three brothers, Walter, Alabama, Hugh, Fern Creek, Ky., and Logan, Finchville, Ky.; and three sisters, Goldie Miller, Shelbyville, Ky., Frances Tate, Austin, Texas, and Nancy French, Danville, Ky. Rose Schmitt
Rose Schmitt, 97, Bismarck, died June 18, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bismarck Funeral Home, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Rose Kempf Schmitt was born April 15, 1904, in McIntosh County, the seventh of eight children born to Katharine (Bertsch) and Michael Kempf. She married Albert Schmitt on Jan. 31, 1924, at St. John's Church, Jewel Parish, 15 miles east of Ashley. They had two daughters, one of whom died six days after birth. Rose and Albert farmed on four different properties until 1938, then built and operated bowling alleys, first in Kulm for two years, then in Ellendale, where Rose baked pastries and burgers to run the lunch counter. She then spent the next eight years at home, caring for her aging mother until her death and taking in boarders. Rose assisted her husband in his carpentry, doing the finishing on the furniture he built and designing shelves and other small wood objects. She was also a gardener, growing both flowers and vegetables. Due to her farm-rooted upbringing, she was also a seamstress and quilter. Rose and Albert returned to farming in 1958 on land seven miles south of Ellendale in South Dakota. They moved to Bismarck in 1975 to be near their daughter and her family. Albert died in 1998 at age 97. Their daughter Gladys cared for Rose until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Demke and her husband Willis; her grandchildren, Susan Blaney, Miami, Fla., Rev. James Demke and his wife Candace, Rock Valley, Iowa, and David Demke and his wife Lynda, Portland, Ore.; and two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Amy Demke, both of Rock Valley, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; six brothers; and one sister.

Sophie Thompson
BEACH -- Sophie Thompson, 88, Beach, passed away June 17, 2001, in a Glendive, Mont., medical center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Beach, with the Rev. Roger Dieterlie officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Beach. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth, Beach, and Gary, Billings, Mont.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Wayne Saverud, Kalispell, Mont.; and three grandchildren, Erica Thompson, Harbor City, Calif., and Sara Savenrud and Anna Savenrud, both of Kalispell, Mont. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1999; her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Louis, Gilbert, Clarissa Karnatz, Elsie Thompson, Henry, Esther Anderson and Charles (Edward). Eleanor Anderson
BOWMAN -- Eleanor M. Anderson, 94, Bowman, died June 21, 2001, in a Bowman care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Bowman Lutheran Church, Bowman. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by three daughters, Karen Feist and Opal Burns, both of Bowman, and Kay Carlson, Bismarck; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. RICHARDTON -- Bertha Gress, 86, Richardton, died June 20, 2001, in the Richardton health center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday at Sacred Heart Monastery, Richardton. She is survived by six sons, Melvin, Mandan, Ronald, Mansfield, Ohio, Marc, Billings, Mont., Ray, Pine, Colo., Curtis, Byers, Colo., and Tim, Colorado Springs, Colo.; six daughters, Joan Hoff, Richardton, Lucille McCall, San Diego, Calif., Karan Goetz, Billings, Mont., Darlene Geyer, Renton, Wash., Virginia Harmon, Rapid City, S.D., and Judy Collay, Tempe, Ariz.; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Raphael Hauck, Richardton; and two sisters, Lena Seiler, Yuma, Ariz., and Loretta Nauman, Phoenix, Ariz. Michael J. Hillius, 45, Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Lemmon, S.D., died June 19, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lemmon. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Lemmon.
