Cecelia M. Koppy, 93, Mandan, died July 19, 2001, in a Mandan care center. Private family services have been held. Burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo. Cecelia was born April 6, 1908, on a farm near Nekoma, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Wilhelmi) Peterson. She married John Koppy on Nov. 28, 1947, in Mandan, and moved to Denver, Colo. Cecelia was a cosmetologist for many years. She enjoyed listening to music, sewing and crocheting. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Harry Berg, Bismarck; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Robert; her parents; four brothers; and two sisters. (Bismarck Funeral Home)

HARVEY -- Bertha Lorz, 89, Harvey, died July 20, 2001, in the Mandan hospital. Arrangements are pending with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Ellen Lynn
WILLISTON -- Ellen Lynn, 70, Williston, died July 19, 2001, at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Williston. She is survived by one son, Billy, Williston; four stepchildren, Patsy, Ikie, Robert and Shona; 10 step-grandchildren; her mother, Minda Stokke, Williston; one brother, Jake Stokke, Williston; and two sisters, Amy Reep, Williston, and Shirley Anderson, Morris, Minn. George Olson
KILLDEER -- George M. Olson, 89, Killdeer, died July 18, 2001, in a Killdeer care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT today at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Burial will be in Whetstone Cemetery, Killdeer. He is survived by three sons, Donald, Columbus, Ohio, and Duane and Jim, both of Killdeer; three daughters, Beverly Loscheider, Fountain, Colo., Bonnie Schwartzenberger, Killdeer, and Janice Lawhead, Fairview, Mont.; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nora Ross, Warren, Ore. HARVEY -- Gladys Putz, 85, Harvey, died July 19, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital after a brief illness. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Martin Baptist Church, Martin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Phyllip Putz, Grand Forks, and Kenneth Putz, Andover, Minn.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Violet Huber, Portland, Ore., LaVaughn Fleming, Arlington, Va., and Dolly Reimche, Martin. Leona Schroedl, 86, Bismarck, died July 20, 2001, in a local care center. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Kathleen Walton
Kathleen M. Walton, 41, Mandan, died July 18, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan. Further arrangements are pending with Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan.

Frances Anderson
Frances H. Anderson, 77, Bismarck, died July 19, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Art Scanson and Rick Fossum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the church. Frances H. Horton was born Jan. 4, 1924, in Chalybeate, Miss., the daughter of Lloyd and Christine (Rich) Horton. She was raised and educated in Mississippi and graduated from Blue Mountain College. On Feb. 2, 1946, she married Lloyd E. Anderson at Ripley, Miss. They moved to Bismarck in 1952 after Lloyd completed dental school. Frances was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church and PEO Chapter AJ. She was an avid reader and enjoyed nature. Frances was loved for her humor and southern hospitality. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Anderson and Jennifer Anderson, both of Bismarck; one son, Jay Anderson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one grandson, Sam Huebschwerlen; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Patricia Stanford and Otelia and Robert West, all of Ripley, Miss.; one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd Ellis and Hilda Horton, Ripley, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; two sisters, Jennie McGill and Mary Pitner; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Stanford and Ralph McGill. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to McCabe United Methodist Church, Veterans Memorial Library or the donor's choice.

Donald Burk
AMIDON -- Donald F. Burk, 86, Amidon, died July 20, 2001, in a Bowman care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Krebsbach Funeral Service Chapel, Bowman. Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery. He is survived by one son, Charles Burk, Bowman.

Lorraine Cullen
Lorraine Cullen, 91, Bismarck, formerly of Hensler, died July 20, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Baptist Home, Bismarck, with the Rev. Clyde Leimberer officiating. Lorraine Holmes was born May 16, 1910, at Winterset, Iowa, to Walter and Mayme (Brown) Holmes. She received her education in Iowa and North Dakota. She married Ross Cullen on Aug. 4, 1928, at Pickardville. The couple farmed west of Hensler for many years. Ross died July 8, 1991. Lorraine entered the Baptist Home in Bismarck in 1992. Lorraine was a founding member of the Hensler Homemakers Club and a member of the Bells 'n' Beaus Squaredancers Club of Bismarck. She is survived by one son, Charles Cullen (AnnaMae), Bismarck; one daughter, Norma Lahren Wruck (Wayne), Hensler; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Fisher, Bismarck; and one sister-in-law, Pearl Cullen, Mandan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross; two infant children; her parents; and one brother, Gerald. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Baptist Home of Bismarck. WATFORD CITY -- Mildred S. Dahl, 85, Watford City, formerly of Keene, died July 20, 2001, in the Watford City hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Keene First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery, Keene. She is survived by five sons, Duane, Wamsutter, Wyo., David, Fort Pierre, S.D., Clifford, Sidney, Mont., Eugene, Keene, and Randy, Williston; six daughters, Joann Faulkner, Darlene Hurt and Bonnie Belcourt, all of Watford City, Judy Skaar, Stanley, Sandy Johnson, West Fargo, and Julie Ann Fliginger, Harvey; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Walter Sorenson and Clayton Sorenson, both of New Town, Palmer Sorenson, Ullen, Minn., Raymond Sorenson, Keene, and Clifford Sorenson, Fort Atkinson, Wis. Bernard Engesser
BOWMAN -- Bernard F. Engesser, 97, Bowman, died July 21, 2001, in a Bowman care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Bowman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by two sons, Russell, Rapid City, S.D., and Robert, Bismarck; three daughters, Rosalie Pitsley and Faye Burke, both of Bowman, and Sharon Kromarek, Bismarck; one brother, Ferdie Engesser, California; and one sister, Caroline Klewin, Amidon. Harold Kasberg
NEW ENGLAND -- Harold Kasberg, 81, New England, died July 20, 2001, in a Dickinson care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at Daglum Lutheran Church, south of South Heart. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by one daughter, Anita Kessel, Fairfield; three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Willie Kivimagi, Alamo, Texas. MADDOCK -- Geoline A. Liudahl, 94, Maddock, died July 21, 2001, in the Rugby medical center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock. Further arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Bertha Lorz
HARVEY -- Bertha Lorz, 89, Harvey, died July 20, 2001, in the Mandan hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. She is survived by one daughter, Jeanette Weltz, Anamoose; four sons, Ervin Jr., Harvey, Donald, Concord, Calif., Robert, Pacheco, Calif., and Henry, Fertile, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Oscar Nottveit
HETTINGER -- Oscar Nottveit, 87, Hettinger, died July 20, 2001, in the Hettinger medical center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Hettinger Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Haines Cemetery. He is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Williams, Rochester, Minn., and Mary Jean Nottveit, Hettinger; and two grandchildren. Ismey Upgren
Ismey L. Upgren, 89, Bismarck, died July 21, 2001, in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Kathy Walton
Kathy Walton, 41, Mandan, passed away early in the morning July 18, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Charles Axness officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and will continue Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the church. Kathleen Minnie Rose was born Aug. 30, 1959, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, Ky., to Joseph and Carolie Maxine (James) Rose. She grew up in Red Bank, Tenn. She graduated from Red Bank High School in 1977 and was employed for 11 years by Union Planters Bank in Chattanooga. Kathy moved to Mandan in 1992 and worked for a short time at Bank Center First before becoming employed by the North Dakota state government in Bismarck as a computer operator in the information technology department. She was diagnosed with cancer in July 2000. Kathy loved animals, nature, the prairie skies and Civil War and western history. In Tennessee she was a Civil War reenactor and worked with the Boy Scouts. She chose to move to North Dakota even though it meant leaving her beloved horse, Koda. She enjoyed country music, especially when her husband, Jim, and his friends were performing. She and Jim were married Sept. 22, 2000, in Mandan. Kathy especially loved the Dakota Zoo in Bismarck. She became an active member of the Dakota Zoological Society in 1993 and a zoo docent in 1997. It gave her great pleasure to work with the animals, to put on animal programs and to help around the zoo. Kathy enjoyed arts and crafts and created many beautiful Christmas gifts for her family and friends. She doted on her beloved pets, her cats Tricksey and Pepper and her dog, Kola. She was loved by all who met her. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, Mandan; her mother, Carolie Rose, Hixson, Tenn.; one brother, Tony Rose, Hixson, Tenn.; and one nephew, Adam Rose, Hixson, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Rose. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kathy Walton Memorial Fund at Dakota Zoo.

Margaret Weinmann
POWERS LAKE -- Margaret M. Weinmann, 75, Powers Lake, died July 19, 2001, at her home after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Powers Lake. Burial will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Powers Lake. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Hille, Mandan; and two brothers, Arne Springan and Paul Springan, both of Bismarck. (Springan Funeral Home, Stanley)

Marvin Wolf
HAMPDEN -- Marvin D. Wolf, 70, Hampden, died July 18, 2001, in a Grand Forks hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zoar Free Lutheran Church, Hampden. Burial will be in Storlie Cemetery, Hampden. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; one daughter, Karen Bjorgo, Grand Forks; four sons, Marvin, Underwood, Bruce, Minot, Kevin, Devils Lake, and David, Hampden; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother, Inez Wolf, Bismarck; and one brother, Donald, Bismarck. Lorraine Hayden
Lorraine Hayden, 69, Bismarck, died July 21, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and will continue Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the church. Lorraine Hertz was born Aug. 20, 1931, at Goodrich, the daughter of Jacob and Caroline (Engel) Hertz. She was raised and attended school in Goodrich and McClusky. She worked for Governor Davis in Bismarck for a number of years. On April 4, 1959, Lorraine married Lawrence Hayden at Steele, where they made their home. In 1988 she moved to Bismarck. Lorraine enjoyed reading, listening and dancing to polka music, having coffee with friends and spending time with her family. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kristie and John Murphy, Butte, Mont.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Tom and Deb Hayden, Bismarck, Jeff and Judy Hayden, Hazen, and Bradley Hayden, Steele; four grandchildren, Aaron and Zachary Hayden and Shane and Shayla Murphy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Reiny and Lorraine Hertz, Bismarck, and Jake and Ramona Hertz, Plentywood, Mont. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, on Jan. 7, 1986; two sisters; and six brothers. Memorials may be given to Camp Grassick.

Sylvia Howe
HETTINGER -- Sylvia B. Howe, 95, Hettinger, died July 21, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Wednesday at Hettinger Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by three sons, Bruce, Dickinson, Jimmy, Hettinger, and David, Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Avis Howe, Hettinger; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Geoline Liudahl
MADDOCK -- Geoline A. Liudahl, 94, Maddock, died July 21, 2001, in the Rugby medical center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at North Viking Lutheran Church, Maddock. Roy Reinschmidt
BEULAH -- Roy Reinschmidt, 65, Beulah, died July 21, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Toby Heller officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Hazen. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. MDT today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Roy was born May 30, 1936, at Hazen, a son of Reinhold and Emelia (Richter) Reinschmidt. He was raised and educated northwest of Hazen. From 1957 to 1958 he served in the U.S. Army, spending time in Germany. Following his discharge, he worked road construction in Montana. On Dec. 30, 1967, he married Esther Younker at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. Roy began working for the Knife River Coal Company in 1969, retiring in 1998 as a drag line operator. He enjoyed "shopping" at the transfer station where he earned the nickname "Scrap Iron Roy." Roy liked fixing anything he could get his hands on, as well as playing cards, traveling and having coffee with the guys at the Country Kettle. He will be greatly missed by many. Roy was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Beulah, where he held various offices. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Esther; three stepdaughters, Barbara and Dave Miller, Jamestown, Shirley and Bill Zinsli, Beulah, and Sharon and Rick Tabert, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Cynthia, Brent and Aaron Miller, Marcus and Derek Hamby, Cami Friday and Corey Tabert; three step-grandchildren, Marty, Angie and Jennifer Zinsli; one great-granddaughter, Faythlynn Friday; five sisters, Ruth Miller, Violet Reinschmidt and Harriet Heaton, all of Bismarck, Clara Forsberg, Washington State, and Rose Kuehn, Terry, Mont.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anton and Lyman; and an infant sister.
