Mary Ost
Mary R. Ost, 84, 310 Second St. N.W., Mandan, went to rest on March 8, 2000, in her home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Robert Feeney officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue at the church one hour before services.
Mary (Kaip) Ost, the daughter of Joseph and Susanna (Knob) Kaip, was born March 5, 1916, in Haymarsh. She was raised and educated in Glen Ullin. On Aug. 16, 1937, she was united in marriage to Theodore Ost in Glen Ullin.
Mary enjoyed her flower garden, playing cards, needlepoint and spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Ted; one son and daughter-in-law, LeRoy and Charlene, Mandan; four grandchildren and their spouses, LeeAnn and Randy Binstock, New Salem, Calvin and Dori Ost, Kent, Wash., Nancy and Harvey Schlosser, Mandan, and Holly Ost and her fiance, Brian Schwindt, Apple Valley, Minn.; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Steve and Betty Kaip, Glen Ullin, Nick Kaip, Bismarck, Pete Kaip, Eugene, Ore.; and five sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen and Ray Braun, and Frances Braun, all of Mandan, Elizabeth Reinbold, Dickinson, and Kate Gerger and Susan Strout, both of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Joe; and one sister, Ann Archer.

Keegan Roach
Keegan Patrick Roach, the 7--month-old son of Darrin and Andrea Roach, Surrey, died March 8, 2000, in his home. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

ROLETTE -- Terry J. Scott, 63, Rolette, died March 6, 2000, in the Belcourt hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rolette, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Debbie Scott and Dawndi Ulmer, both of Fargo, and Darci Scott, Billings, Mont.; three sons, Brad, Bismarck, and Blaine and Brook, both of Rolette; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; his mother, Evelyn Scott, Rolette; one brother, Pat, Rolette; and two sisters, Marilyn Sattler, Rugby, and Gay Scott, Rolette. CARRINGTON -- Helen Sullivan, 82, Carrington, died March 8, 2000, in the Carrington hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington. Further arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

Anton Welk
CARRINGTON -- Anton Welk, 90, Carrington, died March 6, 2000, in the Carrington care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, with burial in Carrington Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; five sons, Denis, Placerville, Calif., David, Granite Falls, Wash., Joe, Fargo, Marvin, Minneapolis, and Raymond, Granite Falls; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Antonia Gutenkauf, Pierre, S.D., Mary Mitzel, Hope, Elizabeth Mitzel, Rugby, Emily Brossart, Rugby, and Pauline Mitzel, Towner. Betty J. Baye
Betty J. Baye, 71, Sidney, Mont., and formerly of Watford City, died in the Williston hospital of cancer. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Epiphany Catholic Church, Watford City, with burial in Schafer Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Irene McCarten; one son, Rocky Bay, Constantia, N.Y.; one daughter, Barbara Baye, Sidney, Mont.; two sisters, Marjorie Dahl, Lewistown, Mont., and Rose Gamache, Grants Pass, Ore.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mary Ann Bender
JAMESTOWN -- Mary Ann Bender, 52, Jamestown, died May 12, 2000 in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Basilica of St. James, Jamestown, with burial in Highland Home Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Allen; two children, Allen G. Bender Jr., Jamestown, and Marjorie Bender, Jamestown; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Violet Galt, Fargo, Margie Heidt, Bismarck, and Kathy Klose, Jamestown. (Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Clement A. Boechler
WILTON -- Clement A. Boechler, 52, Wilton, died May 10, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital of natural causes. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wilton, with the Rev. George Dukart officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the church and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. A prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the church. Clement Andrew Boechler was born Sept. 18, 1947 at Minot to Michael and Francis (Leier) Boechler. He grew up in Makoti, where he graduated from high school in 1965, Salutatorian of his class. He joined the Army in 1968 and later that year received an honorable discharge. He attended Minot State College where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1970. He then taught school at Jim Hill Junior High School in Minot until 1980. While teaching in Minot, he earned a Masters Degree in Secondary Administration attending evening classes. He then served as Principal of Beach High School, Beach, from 1980 to 1989. In 1989 he and his family moved to Wilton where he served as the Superintendent of Wilton Public School until 1996. In 1996, he served as Superintendent at the Hazelton Public School in Hazelton. He retired from school administration in 1998 and moved back to Wilton. Clem enjoyed woodworking and working on his home. He loved to eat frozen chocolate bars and truly loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, Wilton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Cameron and Becky, Minot, and Collin, Velva; three grandchildren, Seth, Hayle and Madison; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Frank and Joan, Bismarck, Jim and Marlene, Calgary, AB, Canada, and Alphonse, Minot; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Gordon Tvedt, Milton, Va., Mary and David Larson, Minot, and Barb and Allen Dyke, Plaza; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth Feil
BEULAH -- Ruth Feil, 70, Beulah, died May 11, 2000 in the Hazen hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with burial in Beulah City Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Herb; one daughter, Cathy, Bismarck; one son, Doug, Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Carol Rosted, Carpio, Doris O'Clair, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and four brothers, Jim, Keith and Kenny Jones, all of Minot, and Bill Jones, Humboldt, Ariz. Peter M. McAvoy
NEW ROCKFORD -- Peter M. McAvoy, 89, New Rockford, died May 12, 2000 in the New Rockford nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery. He is survived by three sisters, Mary Scott, Sheyenne, Hazen Schafer, Anaconda, Mont., and Leona Lesmeister, New Rockford. (Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford)

Jane Perry-Olson
LAKE METIGOSHE -- Jane Perry-Olson, 85, Lake Metigoshe, died May 11, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at Perry Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ben Dove officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service. Jane was born June 29, 1914 at Wilton, to John and Ida Mae (Cowan) Dixon. Her father, was a coal miner and the family moved to Wilton, Washburn, Garrison and later the Burlington Project where she grew up and attended school. As a young woman, her mother taught her piano and she became proficient and played background for silent movies as well as various churches. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 35 years and moved to Lake Metigoshe where she loved to entertain friends during the summer months. She married Delbert R. Perry on May 1, 1941 at Cheyenne, Wyo.; he died on June 21, 1975. She married George Olson in October 1976. She and George loved to travel and wintered in Palm Springs, Calif. and visited Norway. They accompanied a group from the Bottineau School of Forestry to study the polar bears at Eskimo Point. George died on Jan. 30, 2000. She is survived by her children, Janice Dralle, Joe Perry, Patricia Key; eight grandchildren, Ellen Houser, Kit Ebach, Paula Williams, Kim Veil, Jodell Perry, Greg Key, Chris Key, Michelle Key; her stepchildren, Judy Ellington, Carla Brining, Dave Olson and John Olson; and nine great-grandchildren. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and one brother, Jim. (Perry Funeral Home, Mandan)

Roy B. Wagner
Roy B. Wagner, 93, 309 Third Ave. NW, Mandan, died May 11, 2000 in a Bismarck nursing home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Feeney officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Catholic Daughter Rosary will be said at 4 p.m.; a KC Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.; and a parish vigil will be said at 7:30 p.m., all at the funeral home on Sunday. Roy Wagner was born on Oct. 14, 1906 in Strasburg, the son of Balzer and Elizabeth Wagner. He was raised and educated in Strasburg. On Feb. 18, 1936, he married Eleanor Reinbold in Strasburg. He spent several years on the farm at Strasburg and then moved to Bismarck, where he worked on construction and the North Dakota State Game and Fish, retiring in 1972. He collected pens and pencils having one of the largest collections in the state. He was proud of having a pen for every president of the U.S. Eleanor and Roy had fun making homemade mustard and wedding whiskey for family and friends. He had a strong faith and daily prayer life. He would pray the rosary when riding in a car, especially when others were driving. Roy enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Roy was an active member of Knights of Columbus, Eagles and the U.C.T. Clubs. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, Mandan; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Dee, Belle Fourche, S.D.; one daughter and son-in-law, Violet and DuWayne Zachmeier, Mandan; six grandchildren, Bryan and Mark Zachmeier, Deb Irvine, Sue Berger, Greg Wagner and Sandi Clooten; and three great-grandchildren, Jorden and Evan Berger, and Nicholas Zachmeier. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Balzer, Steve and John; and one sister, Magdalene Baumgartner. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)

Arno H. Wisness
WATFORD CITY -- Services for Arno H. Wisness, 85, Watford City, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Watford City. Further arrangements are pending with Fulkerson Funeral Home, Watford City.

LaDarana V. Mees
LaDarana V. "Whitey" Mees, 71, Bismarck, died April 30, 2000, at his home with his loving family at his side. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in with North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with military rites by Bismarck VFW. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at Boelter Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Whitey was born Jan. 27, 1929, on the family farm near Hebron, the son of Herman and Elsa Rosa (Brecht) Mees. He was raised in Richardton and graduated from Assumption Abbey. He entered the National Guard in 1946, and served as a recruiter in Mott. He volunteered for active duty and was a member of the 11th Airborne Division, stationed in Japan. He served two tours of combat duty in Korea, receiving the U.S. Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Bronze Star. After the Korean War, he returned to North Dakota and served with the National Guard, retiring with the rank of major after 37 years of service. On Dec. 29, 1953, he married Clara Kom from Bentley. Whitey graduated from Bismarck Junior College and North Dakota State University with an engineering degree. He worked for the State Highway Department and Water Commision for 16 years before entering private practice as a civil engineer. He was a member of Bismarck Elks, United Commercial Travelers and VFW. Grandpa was a kind and gentle man, whose life revolved around his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and many good friends. He is survived by his wife, Clara; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Bjorn Gronbeck, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, LaDarana C. "Darany" and Helen, and Terry and Gail, all of Bismarck; eight grandchildren, LaDarana "Paul," Chris, Julie, Matt, Stacey, Megan, Michael, and Alex, his little angel in heaven; two sisters, Marlene Feist and Sandra Mees, Bismarck; five brothers, Herman, Turtle Lake, Selkirk, Wilton, Ted and Sanferd, both of Menoken, and Tom, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Hillard; and a grandson, Alex.

Myrtle Olson
REGENT -- Services for Myrtle Olson, 83, Regent, will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church, Regent, with the Rev. Joe Burgess officiating. Burial will be in Regent Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6:30 p.m. today and 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A family service will begin at 6:30 tonight at the funeral home. Special music will be provided by Sally Donner, organist, and Rob and Laurie Larson. Serving as casketbearers are Robert Larson, Donald Christoperson, Gary Doe, Mick Wangsvick, Darwyn Kunze and Walter Gion. All friends are considered honorary bearers. Myrtle Faldet was born May 16, 1916, near Regent, to Iver and Ingeborg (Pladsen) Faldet. She attended grade school in rural Regent and graduated from Regent High School in 1937. She married Vincent Olson at Regent on July 26, 1947. He passed away on Nov. 5, 1970. Myrtle was a very industrious person. She worked for Christy's Grocery Store and later for the Regent Public School hot lunch program. She was known for her cooking, baking and gardening skills. Her generosity to her family and friends was well known throughout her community. She was a devout Christian woman and treasured her lifelong membership in the Lutheran Church. Due to her failing health, Myrtle entered the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Mott on Nov. 17, 1999. She passed from this life there early Saturday morning, April 29, 2000. Grateful for having shared her life are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Arloween "Arly" and Darrel Remington, Mott, Cleone and Larry Guinn, Ellijay, Ga., and Twila and Bob Marthaller, Harvey; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; several other family members and a host of friends. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Magnhild Monke; and one brother, Morris Faldet. The family expresses their deep appreciation for the tender loving care given to our Mother and Grandmother by the Good Samaritan Nursing Center and Staff. A memorial has been established.

Morise E. Olson
WILTON -- Morise E. Olson, 81, Wilton, died April 28, 2000, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Wilton. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two daughters, Claire Lou Chilson, Minot, and Marilyn Hoff, Underwood; three grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Cleveland, Gillette, Wyo. George Oxentenko
George Oxentenko, 90, Bismarck, died April 30, 2000, in a Bismarck care center. Arrangements are pending at Eastgate Funeral Service.

DICKINSON -- Ardith R. Swanson, 80, Dickinson, died April 29, 2000, in her home. Memorial services will be held in South Dakota at a later date. She is survived by her husband, Hilbert; one son, David, Mayer, Ariz.; two daughters, Kathy Sepkovic, Parker, Colo., and Joanna Fuchs, Dickinson; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Winnie Stattleman, Eleanor Johnson and Wylma Kraemer.
