Connie Job
Connie Rae Job, 53, Dawson, N.D., died Friday, March 23, 2001, at her home.
Connie Rae Wolf was born Aug. 21, 1947, in Valley City, N.D., the daughter of Philip and Evelyn (Clifford) Wolf. She grew up on the family farm near Kintyre, N.D., and received her first two years of elementary education in rural Logan County schools. She then attended Napoleon Public School, graduating from there in 1966. She attended Valley City State University, where she received a teaching degree. She married Leroy Job on Aug. 9, 1969, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon. They then moved to Glen Ullin, N.D., where they lived for three years. They moved to the Job family farm in 1972, located 12 miles north of Napoleon. She worked as a substitute teacher for 20 years, was employed as a certified nursing assistant at the Napoleon Care Center, and for the past two years was employed at the Dakota Eye Institute, Napoleon. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Napoleon, where she was the current church council secretary, and had served as past treasurer, and Sunday school superintendent and teacher. She was also a member of the WELCA. She enjoyed reading and visiting.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Brian (Cathy), Wishek, N.D.; a daughter, Jennifer Job (special friend Brad Dahl), Bismarck; her mother, Napoleon; a brother, Larry (Tracy), Kintyre; and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, Trinity Lutheran Church, Napoleon, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Burial: Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.

Hulda Fiechtner
Hulda Fiechtner, 90, Wishek, N.D., died Friday, March 23, 2001, at the Wishek Nursing Home.
Hulda Sophia Koenig was born Nov. 21, 1910, at rural Lehr, N.D., the daughter of John and Rosina (Essig) Koenig. She was baptized in the Christian faith on Jan. 22, 1911. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in Logan County country schools. She worked on the family farm and for a brief time at Bismarck Hospital. She married Gustave Fiechtner on Jan. 26, 1932. They farmed in the Lehr area. After retiring from farming and ranching, they spent winters in Vista, Calif., returning to their home in the summer. He died in June 1982. She then moved to Wishek, and in 1992 entered Wishek Nursing Home. She was a member of King Lutheran Church, rural Lehr, and later Grace Lutheran Church, Lehr. She enjoyed reading and visiting.
She is survived by two sons, Marvin (Mary Ann), Wishek, and Ralph (Loretta), Jamestown; a daughter, VerDella (Clyde) Jackson, Vista; a brother, Lawrence (Delores), Fargo, N.D.; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Elroy; her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, Grace Lutheran Church, Lehr, with the Rev. Lyle Klemz officiating. Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek.
Burial: King Cemetery, rural Lehr.

Marjorie Zappas
Marjorie Zappas, 93, Jamestown, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, Jamestown.
Marjorie Bennett was born Feb. 4, 1908, in Jamestown, the daughter of Archie and Aurla (Biggs) Bennett. She grew up in Jamestown, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1926. She married Peter G. Zappas Aug. 25, 1926, at Redding, Calif. They returned to Jamestown, and operated the Palace Cafe. He died July 31, 1954. In 1940 she became the postmaster of Jamestown, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Grace Guild, Women of Grace, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the National Association of Postmasters (NAP), serving as president for two years and editor of the organization newsletter for eight years. She was a charter member of Zonta Club, serving as president for one year. She enjoyed gardening and needle work.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann (Mark) Lester, Cheney, Wash.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Eugenia Zappas Hoyt; two half brothers, an infant and L. Paul Jordan; and a grandson.
Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. George Schulenberg officiating.
Burial: McGinnis Cemetery, Jamestown.

Elsie DuBois
Elsie V. DuBois, 85, White Bear Lake, Minn., died March 13, 2001.
Elsie Victoria Eriksen was born Feb. 22, 1916, in rural Kensal, N.D., the daughter of Christian and Malene Eriksen. She received her nursing degree from Kahler School of Nursing, Rochester, Minn. She married George W. DuBois Feb. 22, 1940.
She is survived by a daughter, Johanne DuBois; two sons, Leland (Janet) and Gene (Maria); two sisters, Christine Stiles and Myrtle Pewe; a sister-in-law, Hazel Eriksen, Jamestown; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and a sister.
Services: Held March 16, Willwerscheid and Peters Mortuary, St. Paul, Minn.
Burial: Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul.

Mary Ketterling
Mary Ketterling, 56, St. Michael, Minn., died of cancer Saturday, March 24, 2001, at her home.
Mary Hockert is the daughter of John and Bernice Hockert. She attended St. James Academy and graduated from Courtenay (N.D.) High School. She was employed by ILBNC Clinic for 15 years.
She is survived by her husband, Rich Ketterling; her mother, Jamestown; a daughter, Angela (Gerald) Weigel, Rockford, Minn.; a son, Keith, Monticello, Minn.; sisters, Madeline (Jim) Clarys, Dickinson, N.D., Delores (Art) Fletcher, Mora, Minn., Barbara Hockert, Denver, Color., Monica (John) Backer, Courtenay, Joan (Mike) Rudy, Jamestown, and Jan (Victor) Caron, Bullhead City, Ariz.; and a brother, Douglas (Marilyn), Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Services: 11 a.m. March 27, Word of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, Minn.
Burial: Word of Peace Cemetery, Rogers.

Russell Christianson
Russell C. Christianson, 82, Jamestown, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz.
Mr. Christianson was born Dec. 21, 1918, at Upham, N.D., the son of G. T. and Gudrun (Hannesson) Christianson. He grew up on a farm near Upham, graduating from Upham High School. He attended college at State School of Forestry, Bottineau, N.D., where he received an associate of science degree in forestry, and at North Dakota State University, Fargo. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps May 26, 1942, in Minot, N.D., and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was a Prisoner of War during World War II from Aug. 24, 1944 to May 13, 1945, at Stalag Luft 1, Barth, Germany. He was discharged from the Army Air Corps Jan. 11, 1946, at Santa Ana, Calif. He also served in the National Guard with a rank of captain. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross Award and the Purple Heart. He married Eldora Boe Dec. 18, 1943, at Oberlin, Kan. After returning from World War II, he graduated from NDSU in 1946, with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. In 1947 he began his career with the Soil Conservation Service, Milnor, N.D. In the fall of 1947, he moved to Edgeley, N.D., as district conservationist for the West LaMoure District. In the spring of 1955, he transferred to Jamestown, where he was district conservationist for Stutsman County from 1955-76. In 1976 he accepted a full time position as RC&D Coordinator. In 1971 he was the initial organizer of the Regional Council, serving as its acting executive director until July 1975. He also held the position of executive secretary for the council since its formation and was instrumental in forming the by-laws and constitution of the organization. In January 1980, he retired after 38 years of service for the Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the Pipestem Park Board, serving as board member for the credit union; Jamestown V.F.W.; N.D. Silver Hair Legislature; United Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon and elder; National Guard Commander; NARFE President; and past President of the North Dakota Chapter of POW. He enjoyed his 21 years of retirement, traveling, and driving his antique John Deere tractor.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kay Carpenter, Anaheim, Calif., and Julie (Tom) Munsey, Fargo; three sons, Steve (Linda), Woodbury, Minn., Randy, Madison, Wis., and Kim (Gail), Bismarck; three brothers, Mesa, Joe, Olympia, Wash., and Ted (Carol), Upham; two sisters, Victoria Torr, Minot, and Ellen (Ray) Miller, Gilbert, Ariz.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Freeman and John; and two sisters, Christine and Ann.
Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, United Presbyterian Church, Jamestown, with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: 1 p.m. Friday, North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.

Mary Rader
Mary L. Rader, 62, Wahpeton, N.D., died Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton.
Mary Lou "Sissy" Rader was born Dec. 25, 1938, at Stevensville, Mont., the daughter of Harold E. and Magdalena (Gunsch) Rader. As a young girl she lived in the Seattle, Wash., area. In 1945 the family moved to Napoleon, N.D., where she grew up and remained with her family due to illness. In 1978 she moved with her parents to Wishek Nursing Home, Wishek, N.D. In 1986 she moved to Red River Group Home, Wahpeton.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Schmidt, Woodinville, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters and a half sister.
Services: 10:15 a.m. March 29, St. Catherine's Living Center, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Chris Anderson officiating. Arrangements by Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon.
Burial: Napoleon City Cemetery, Napoleon.

Donald Hunsberger
Donald Mervin Hunsberger, 81, Cooperstown, N.D., died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at Griggs County Hospital, Cooperstown.
Mr. Hunsberger was born March 30, 1919, on a farm near Binford, N.D., the son of Edward and Amelia (Overbeck) Hunsberger. He attended rural school through the eighth grade and then farmed. He married Dorothy Prescott Nov. 6, 1941, at Hannaford, N.D. They farmed and he custom baled for many years. In 1960 they moved to Sutton, N.D. He worked at the Robert Bailey farm. Later he worked for Farmers Union as a bulk truck driver until he retired in 1981. In 1989 they moved to Cooperstown.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Dianne Jones (Ken Alfrey), Craig, Colo., Donna (Barry) Ronningen, Cooperstown, and Darlene (Omar) Abraham, Hannaford; a sister, Lavon Weitenhagen, Everett, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Tom Jones; a brother, Alfred; and two granddaughters.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, Zion Lutheran Church, rural Binford. Arrangements by Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown.
Burial: Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown.
