WILLISTON -- Lloyd Johnson, 87, Williston, died July 2, 2001, in the Williston care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Williston. Further arrangements are pending at Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Edwin Kaiser
Edwin Kaiser, 75, Bismarck, died July 3, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Bradley R. Stoltenow officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday at Boelter Funeral Home, and will continue at the church one hour before services. Edwin was born Aug. 26, 1925, the son of Fred and Katherine (Braunstadter) Kaiser. The family later moved to Bismarck, where he attended Bismarck High School. From 1947-1977, he worked for Klein Lumber Co. On Nov. 1, 1971, Edwin married Darlyne Rants in Bismarck. He worked part-time at the Bismarck Civic Center for Green Thumb until he became ill. Edwin enjoyed woodworking and making miniature metal model cars. He is survived by his wife, Darlyne; one stepdaughter, Lynette Lipp, Mandan; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Dennis and Diana Jahner, Mandan, and Donald and Gerry Jahner, Bismarck; and three sisters, Louise Brown, Bismarck, Anna Marie Webb, Tacoma, Wash., and Katherine Rittel, Mandan. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers and one sister.

Gladys Lynne
PLAZA -- Gladys Lynne, 83, Plaza, died July 1, 2001, in a Minot care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Plaza, with burial in North Plaza Cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Gladwin, Warren, Minn., Ole, Plaza, Roger and Arne Jr., both of Minot; three brothers, Rudolph and Palmer, both of Parshall, and Norman, Edmonds, Wash.; one sister, Lena Sizer, Glasgow, Mont.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Peter Miller
MOTT -- Peter M. Miller, 77, Mott, died July 2, 2001, in the Mott care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Mott, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his son, Dale; two sisters, Margaret Summers, Billings, Mont., and Mina Zent, Dickinson; and two brothers, Steve, Mott, and Joe, Enid, Okla. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Mott)

Clarence Omoth
NEW ROCKFORD -- Clarence Omoth, 81, New Rockford, died July 3, 2001, in his home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Frank Roshau
KILLDEER -- Services for Frank Roshau, 86, Killdeer, will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer. Further arrangements are pending at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson.

Theresa Schmidt
DICKINSON -- Theresa Schmidt, 83, Dickinson, died July 2, 2001, in a Dickinson care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Floyd, Auburn, Wash., and Tim, Dickinson; one daughter, Diane Bernhardt, Dickinson; one sister, Ann Meisner, Dickinson; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Effie Smith
Effie Smith, 37, Colorado Springs, Colo., died June 29, 2001, in Colorado Springs. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at United Church of Christ, Cherry Creek, S.D., with burial in the Congregational Cemetery, Cherry Creek. She is survived by four sons, Adrian, Mitch, Quentin and Quillan, all of Colorado Springs; four brothers, Ellery Blue Hair, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Erwin Blue Hair, Everlee Blue Hair and Eddie Crow, all of Cherry Creek; and four sisters, Monica Harold, Celestine Curley, both of Cherry Creek, Mary Miller, Timber Lake, S.D., and Eveleen Blue Hair, Bismarck. William Thomas
BEULAH -- William "Tommy" Thomas, 52, Beulah, died July 2, 2001, in a Hazen hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Howard Anderson officiating. Burial will be in St. John Wittenburg Cemetery, north of Zap. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Tommy was born Nov. 22, 1948, at Knoxville, Tenn., the son of Robert C. Thomas and Patricia (Berry) Thomas. He was raised and educated in western Kentucky. He attended and graduated from the University of South Alabama. On June 26, 1969, he married Glenda Watkins at Calvert City, Ky. Tommy worked at Pen-Walt in Calvert City for nine years. In 1982, they moved to Beulah, where he worked for the Dakota Gasification Company as a shift superintendent until the time of his illness. Tommy was one of the founding members of the Beulah Soccer League and had been a member of the Zap Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, chasing cows and was an all around handyman. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Glenda; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Mitchell Weigum, Zap; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Joani Thomas, Fargo; his parents, Robert C. and Patricia Thomas, Gilbertsville, Ky.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Rock Estes, Reidland, Ky. Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Wayne Archambault
Wayne C. Archambault, 64, McLaughlin, S.D., died Aug. 12, 2001, in a Sturgis, S.D., hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Little Eagle, S.D. Further arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge, S.D.

James Beck
James R. Beck, 79, Wichita, Kan., formerly of Bismarck, died Aug. 14, 2001. James was in World War II as an Army Air Corp B24 Bombardier. He served in combat with the 15th Army Air Corp in Italy. He was a retired salesman. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Charles Beck and Jeb Beck, both of Wichita, and John Beck, Napa, Calif.; his daughter, Meredith Beck, Wichita; nine grandchildren; and his sister, Connie Priske, Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Sedgwick County Zoo, 5555 W. Zoo Blvd., Wichita, Kan. 67212. (Downing and Lahey Mortuary, Wichita, Kan.)

Lourene C. Christiansen, 89, formerly of Baldwin, died Aug. 14, 2001, in a local care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Wilton. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Luella Cieslak
Luella Cieslak, 87, Bismarck, died Aug. 15, 2001, at her home. Arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Malen Dewing
Malen Dewing, 43, Bismarck, died Aug. 13, 2001, in an accident on the river. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Further arrangements are pending with Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.

Nora Engstrom
LEEDS -- Nora Engstrom, 97, Leeds, died Aug. 14, 2001, in the Rugby medical center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Leeds Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Lynne Hogan, Reston, Va.; one son, James, Leeds; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. (Nelson Funeral Home, Leeds)

Arthur Ewert
FARGO -- Arthur O. Ewert, 90, Fargo, died Aug. 14, 2001, in a Fargo hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Baptist Church, Fargo. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. He is survived by one son, Gerd, Pensacola, Fla.; four daughters, Ingrid Carpenter, Cottage Grove, Minn., Heidi Borud, Horace, Karin Richter, Hazen, and Angelika Bauste, Grand Forks; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. STEELE -- Anna Hanna, 87, Steele, formerly of Larimore, died Aug. 13, 2001, in the Wishek care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Honeyford. She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Syverson, Steele; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Kvamme, Gilby, and Mildred Christopher, Grand Forks. Arlie Larsen, 67, Dane Valley, Mont., died Aug. 13, 2001, in a Billings, Mont., hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Friday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Culbertson, Mont. Milton Ochsner
Milton Ochsner, 75, Artas, S.D., died Aug. 15, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Herreid Reformed Church, Herreid, S.D. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Kathryn Peterson
Kathryn Fleck Peterson, died August 2001, in Wichita Falls, Texas, from stroke complications. Kathryn was born in October 1919. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1937. She is survived by her husband, Sidney; a son, Bill (Thada); a daughter, Sandra; two grandsons; one great-grandson; a sister, Evelyn Fleck Simpson, Seattle, Wash.; and a brother, William Fleck, Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Rose Glaser Fleck; and her brothers, Edward, Donald and Joseph Fleck.

Pearl Richards
JAMESTOWN -- Pearl R. Richards, 88, Jamestown, died Aug. 14, 2001, in a Jamestown hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Jamestown. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown. She is survived by one son, Arlen, Jamestown; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)

Gerald Stanton
Gerald S. Stanton, 49, Waynesboro, Pa., formerly of Minot, died Aug. 13, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. EDT today at Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg, Pa. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg. He is survived by his wife, Marcella; three daughters, Billie Pierce, Bismarck, and Lisa and Chrisi Stanton, both of Iowa; one stepdaughter, Tracy Kennedy, Grand Forks; one grandchild; one brother, Leonard Stanton, Baltimore, Md.; and three sisters, Toni Braxtn and Michele Duppins, both of Westminster, Md., and Dana Gauntt, York, Pa.

Ron Stuart
Ron Stuart, 76, Casper, Wyo., formerly of Valley City, died Aug. 11, 2001, in a Casper care center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peterson-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home, Valley City. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Marmarth. He is survived by five sons, Ronald Stuart II, Mesa, Ariz., Robert Stuart, Aurora, Colo., David Stuart, Kearnsville, N.C., James Stuart, Casper, Wyo., and Craig Stuart, Dilworth, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one brother, Thomas Stuart, Agoura, Calif.

LARK -- Laura C. Werner, 86, Lark, died Aug. 13, 2001, in the Hettinger care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Saturday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin.
