He is survived by his wife, Sally; two brothers, Paul, Fargo, and Glenn, Bismarck; and one sister, Helen Witcraft, Friendship, Wis.

NEW TOWN -- Helmer Kinden, 86, New Town, died May 30, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Keene First Lutheran Church, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery, Keene. He is survived by his wife, Pearl; three sons, Lee, Effingham, Ill., Bob, New Town, and John, Sandy, Ore.; four daughters, Jean Fisher, Williston, Kathy Harris, Mill Creek, Wash., Phylis Thorton, Hendersonville, Tenn., and Susan Shane, Evans, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. DICKINSON -- Barbara Kubischta, 93, Dickinson, died May 31, 2001, in a Dickinson care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Dickinson, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Alex and John, both of Dickinson; two daughters, Josephine Schmidt, Belfield, and Frances Fix, Hebron; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. WING -- Jeanne Sedivec Lutz, 64, Kingman, Ariz., died May 30, 2001, in her home after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Ron; one brother, Dean Sedivec, Bismarck; and two sisters, Carol Kassian, Wilton, and Sue Hartmann, Fargo. Arrangements are pending.

POLLOCK, S.D. -- Paulina Moser, 96, died May 30, 2001, in Portland, Ore. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pollock Memorial Presbyterian Church, with burial in Spring Creek Cemetery, Pollock. She is survived by one son, Kenneth, Pollock; five daughters, Irene High, Nehalem, Ore., Katherine Becker, Pollock, Delores Davis, Portland, Arlene Reiger, Vancouver, Wash., and Linda Walls, Boring, Ore.; two sisters, Maggie Kern, Colo., and Barbara Heauser, Portland, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Kierra Kay Braaten
CARRINGTON -- Kierra Kay Braaten, infant daughter of Dawn Braaten and Kevin Lacy was born and died on April 29, 2000 in the Carrington health center. A graveside service was held on May 4 at Grace City Cemetery. She is survived by her mother, Dawn Braaten, Carrington; her father, Kevin Lacy, Fessenden; her grandparents, Carman and Sandy Braaten, Carrington, and Mary Lacy and Kurt Middleman, both of Fessenden; and her great-grandparents, Earl and Wauna Fike, Fessenden. Misty Marie Evenson, 21, Las Vegas, Nev., and formerly of Wildrose, died May 2, 2000 in Las Vegas. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Grace Lutheran Church, Wildrose. Further arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Berniece C. Falck
Berniece C. Falck, 96, Bismarck, and formerly of rural Washburn, died May 3, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at First Lutheran Church, Washburn, with the Rev. Randy Emgarten officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn. Visitation will be from 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday, at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn, and will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Berniece Constance Evjen was born May 19, 1903 at Turtle Lake, the oldest daughter of Ole and Ella (Vigdahl) Evjen. She was the first baby baptized at the North St. Olaf Lutheran Church at rural Turtle Lake where her parents were charter members. She was raised and attended schools in the Turtle Lake area. She married Arthur Falck of Washburn, on Nov. 25, 1922 at Mandan. They lived and farmed on the Falck farm east of Washburn. Arthur died on Sept. 9, 1948. She continued to live on the farm with her son, Richard until moving to Bismarck in 1980. She enjoyed good health until this past December when she became a resident of the Bismarck Baptist Home. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She was a great cook and loved to garden and raise flowers. She was a charter member of the Neighborly Homemakers Club at Washburn and was a member of First Lutheran Church at Washburn. She is survived by one son, Richard, Bismarck; three daughters and one son-in-law, Ruby Johnson, Bismarck, Doris Wilson, Grand Junction, Colo., and Florence and Bob Clark, Grain Valley, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pearl and Harry Gerbracht, Prairie City, S.D., and Freda Malloy, Garrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, five brothers and one sister. (Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn)

Gertrude Fredrickson, 74, Bismarck, and formerly of Garrison, died May 3, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with burial in Garrison City Cemetery at 5 p.m. She is survived by three daughters, Irene Munz, Mandan, Theresia Kerzmann, Garrison, and Linda Morris, Bismarck; four sons, Walter and Leonard, both of Mandan, Larry, Bismarck, and Henry, Rockford, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Dallas C. Henke, 76, Marco Island, Fla., died March 14, 2000 in North Carolina. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Emma Hoffman
ASHLEY -- Emma (Fuhrer) Hoffman, 81, Ashley, died May 3, 2000 in the Ashley nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Ashley, with the Rev. Darwin Kopfmann officiating. Burial will be in Ashley City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Carlsen Funeral Home, Ashley. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Honorary casketbearers will be Tate Dupon, Dan Dupon, Merritt Dupon, Sydnee Dupon, Heidi Pautsch, Jenny Hoffman, Jessica Hoffman, Melissa Hoffman, Maggie Johnson and Madison Hoffman. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Regan Feil, Littleton, Colo., Brandon Hoffman, Eden Prairie, Minn., Ryan Johnson, Fargo, Nicholas Hoffman, Minneapolis, John Hoffman, Bismarck, Mike Pautsch, Andover, Minn., and Michael Dupon, Fort Collins, Colo. The organist will be Marcie Davis and the soloist will be Vera Glur. The Ashley Men's Quartet will also provide special music, accompanied by LaVerna Wolf. Emma Fuhrer, daughter of Jacob G. and Katherina (Heinz) Fuhrer was born March 26, 1919 on the family homestead six miles southwest of Hague in Emmons County. She attended country school. She worked for neighboring farmers and then moved to Bismarck to work there for a short time. She was united in marriage to Gordon J. Hoffman on June 24, 1943 at Fort Sheridan, Ill. He was stationed there in the United States Army. They made their home in Fort Sheridan and later at Fort Bliss at El Paso, Texas. After her husband's discharge in July of 1944, they returned to North Dakota and farmed in the Venturia area until 1946. They then moved to Zeeland, where he worked for the John Deere dealer. In 1967, they purchased the Coast to Coast Store in Ashley where they both worked. They sold that business after 14 months. In 1967, they started custom harvesting, combining from southern Texas to North Dakota until they retired in 1980. They continued to make Ashley their home. Her husband died on Sept. 10, 1998 and she continued to live in her home in Ashley. She entered the Ashley Nursing Home on May 2, 2000. She loved to quilt. Also, reading, cooking and baking kept her busy. She had a gift of hospitality and enjoyed being helpful to others. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Ashley and also devoted much of her time to the United Methodist Women. Survivors include three sons, Gregory (Susan) Hoffman, Plymouth, Minn., Daniel (Mallory) Hoffman, North Mankato, Minn., and Michael Hoffman, Bismarck; one daughter, Janet (Gary) Feil, Fort Collins, Colo.; one sister, Lydia Sattler, Herreid, S.D.; three brothers, Jacob G. (Bessie) Fuhrer and Edward (Gloria) Fuhrer, both of Herreid, and Reuben (Bette) Fuhrer, Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, five sisters and one brother. The family prefers memorials be made to the United Methodist Women, 110 1st St. SW, Ashley, ND, 58413.
