WILLISTON -- Clarabel "Clare" Jorgensen, 84, formerly of Williston, died in a Pleasanton, Calif., hospital. Arrangements are pending with Everson Funeral Home, Williston.

Marguerite D. Lambdin
Marguerite D. Lambdin, 83, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck, died May 3, 2000 at the care center. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today, and for one hour prior to the service at Perry Funeral Home. Marguerite was born May 28, 1916 at Steele, to Levi and Idena (Patton) Lambdin. She was raised and educated in Steele. She graduated as salutatorian from Steele High School in 1937 and attended Valley City Normal School for her teacher's training. Marguerite taught school in various country and small town schools in south central North Dakota for over 30 years. She loved teaching and always remembered her students. She spent much time caring for her family and friends and also enjoyed gardening. She is survived by one nephew and his wife, Donald and Shirley Truax, Steele; one niece and her husband, Delores and Clyde Drennen, Miles City, Mont.; 11 grandnephews; five grandnieces; and several great-grandnephews and nieces; and many special friends, including Florence Swanson, Miles City, Mont., and Evelyn Novy, Wing. Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Audrey and one sister, Edith. (Perry Funeral Home)

Ruth B. Mellum
WATFORD CITY -- Ruth B. Mellum, 83, Watford City, died May 3, 2000 in a Watford City nursing home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home Chapel, Watford City, with burial in Schafer Cemetery. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Albert Sailer
HAZEN -- Albert Sailer, 85, Hazen, died May 3, 2000 in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Saturday, at Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Marv Mutzenberger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hazen. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Coleen and Patricia Miller, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Andrew and Sara Sailer. Visitation hours will be held from 6-9 p.m. MDT today at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Albert was born on the family farm near Expansion, N.D., on May 5, 1914, a son of Adam and Paulina Sailer. He attended area school and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. On March 25, 1940, he married Erna Wittmayer and they moved to a farm northwest of Stanton. In 1943, they moved to the present family farm where they farmed until 1989, when Albert retired. While he was farming, he also worked construction on the Garrison Dam project and for a local farm equipment manufacturer. In 1995, Albert and Erna moved to Hazen and in 1996, Albert became a resident of the Knife River Care Center in Beulah. He really loved to dance, was a great talker and loved to sing. Albert was a pretty good singer, anyway the cows thought so. For many years, he served on the local Elm Grove school board and the church council of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hazen, where he was a member until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Erna; one daughter, Janice Miller, Cheyenne, Wyo.; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Clyde and Janell Sailer, Williston, Dellas and Carol Sailer, Stanton, Steven Sailer, Stanton, and Thomas Sailer, Stanton; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Coleen, Patricia, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Andrew and Sara; one great-grandchild, Amanda; one sister, Helen Ziemann, Cheyenne; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Patricia Sailer, Saint Helens, Ore., Bernard and Betty Sailer, Pick City, and Arthur and Deloris Sailer, Milton-Freewater, Ore. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and five brothers. Memorials are preferred to either the Knife River Care Center in Beulah or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Hazen. Darwin Schaubert
BOWDON -- Darwin Schaubert, 69, Bowdon, died May 3, 2000 in a Bismarck care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, at Bowdon Lutheran Church, with burial in Wayside Cemetery, Bowdon. Visitation will be held 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, at Nelson Funeral Home, Fessenden. Darwin J. Schaubert, son of John and Rose (Hinger) Schaubert, was born Aug. 29, 1930 on his parents' farm southeast of Bowdon, where he grew up and attended Berlin Township School No. 3. He graduated from Bowdon High School in 1948 and in the fall of that year enrolled at North Dakota State University in Fargo, where he studied agricultural engineering and enlisted in the ROTC program. In 1950 he entered the United State Air Force and served during the Korean War. Folloiwing his honorable discharge he returned to NDSU to continue his studies and earned his masters degree in agricultural engineering. On June 9, 1962 he was united in marriage to Adeline Perkins Collis at Bismarck. They made their home on a farm southeast of Bowdon, where they continued to farm until retiring in March of 1996. They remained on the farm until moving to Bismarck, where he had been a resident of the Karrington Cottages since Oct. 5, 1999. He was an active member of the Bowdon Lutheran Church, having served as church president, trustee and secretary for many years. He was a member and past commander of the Terry Martin American Legion Post No. 175 of Bowdon, and had served as Wells County 4-H leader for over 20 years. He also served for many years on the Wells County Selective Service Board, the Wells Co. Better Seed and Grain Board, the Speedwell Township Board, the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd Board and Foundation Committee; and as a member and president of the Bowdon School Board. He is survived by his wife, Adeline; one daughter, Melissa (Mrs. Kevin) Tureson, Champlin, Minn.; two sons, Paul (Lynn) Schaubert, Schererville, Ind., and David (Katherine) Schaubert, Greeley, Colo.; six grandchildren, Meredith, Jared, Averyl and Elise Schaubert and Kayla and Joshua Tureson; one brother, Marlyn (Dorothy) Schaubert, rural Heaton; one sister, Lorraine (Mrs. Hubert) Graves, Harvey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Daryl Robert. The family prefers memorials to the North Dakota Alzheimer Foundation or the North Dakota 4-H Foundation. CATHAY -- Douglas C. Wiedrich, 71, Cathay, died May 3, 2000 in the Carrington health center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sykeston, with burial at 11 a.m. Monday, in North Dakota Veterans' Cemetery, rural Mandan. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; one son, Robert, Cathay; four daughters, Deborah Thorstad, Jamestown, Kathleen Nelson, Cathay, Theresa Thomas, Webster, and Barbara Scott, Langdon; 16 grandchildren; his mother, Sophia Wiedrich, Carrington; two brothers, Raymond, Huson, Mont., and Lawrence, Cathay; and two sisters, Delphine Hughes, Eldridge, and Myra Stewart, Isle, Minn. Leesha Wille
BALDWIN -- Leesha Wille, 10, Baldwin, died May 3, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Sunne Lutheran Church, Wilton, with the Rev. John Dukart officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Leesha was born on Oct. 9, 1989 in Bismarck, the daughter of Lee and JoAnne (Bolte) Wille. She was a fourth grader at Wilton Public School. She enjoyed helping prepare the bulls for Annual Charolais Production Bull Sale. Leesha loved horses, basketball, working with Charolais bulls and barrel racing. Spring calving season was a special time for Leesha. She is survived by her parents, Lee and JoAnne, one sister, Chelsey, all of Baldwin; her grandparents, Howard and Winifred Bolte, Mott; his grandmother, Agnes Wille, Mandan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Daryl Bendewald
WHEELOCK -- Daryl Bendewald, 68, Hartland, Minn., formerly of Wheelock, died July 13, 2001, in a Minneapolis hospital. Arrangements are pending at Fulkerson Funeral Home, Tioga. Services will be held at the Fulkerson Home Chapel in Tioga at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Jon Bendewald will officiate and interment with military rites will be in the Wheelock Cemetery, Wheelock. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the Fulkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Tioga.

Mark Brucker
SOLEN -- Mark W. Brucker, 48, Solen, died July 12, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Pat Schumacher officiating. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish vigil will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Mark W. Brucker was born Nov. 26, 1952, in Bismarck, the son of Anton A. and Eleanore K. (Wilson) Brucker. He was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School in 1971. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1975. On June 14, 1975, he married Marilyn D. Stafford in Fargo. Mark was employed as a science teacher at Mandan Public Schools. He previously taught science in the Sykston and Flasher school districts. He was a wildlife biologist for TPI in the 1970s. He was an active member of North Dakota Education Association, Science Olympiad and Mandan Science Club. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his mother, Eleanore, Mandan; his father-in-law and his wife, Melvin "Stub" and Venoy Stafford; one brother and sister-in-law, Tony W. and Linda, Mandan; their children, Chris, Ryan and Lindsy Brucker; one sister and brother-in-law, Candice W. and Raymond Kautzman, Maine; and their children, Alex Kautzman, Heidi and Pete Bastien; his grand-nephew, Gabriel Bastien; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Marwin and Mona Stafford; their children, Tami and Todd, Marshall and Jody Stafford; their children, Megan, Cole and Alex; and Mitch Stafford and his special friend, Darla Fugere. He was preceded in death by his father, Anton; and his mother-in-law, Margie Stafford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Dakota Humane Society.

Ralph Erickstad
Ralph J. Erickstad, 78, Bismarck, died July 12, 2001, in his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Keith Odney officiating. A family service with burial will be held at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, prior to the memorial service. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today and 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service. Ralph was born Aug. 15, 1922, on his parents' farm near Starkweather. He was educated in the public schools of Starkweather, attended the University of North Dakota, and was graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School. During World War II, he served as a radio operator and gunner as a member of the crew of a Liberator Bomber in the Eighth Air Force. He married Lois K. Jacobson on July 30, 1949, in Minneapolis. He began the practice of law in Devils Lake in 1949, and served as police magistrate, state's attorney, and state senator before resigning from the Legislature when he was elected to the Supreme Court in 1962. He was re-elected in 1972 and 1982 for 10-year terms. He was first elected Chief Justice by the judges of the District Court and the Supreme Court in 1973 and re-elected Chief Justice in 1978, 1983, and 1987 for five-year terms. As Chief Justice, he was a leader in the unification of the trial courts and in the development of the judicial wing and Supreme Court Chambers of the State Capitol. He served five years as a member of the Executive Council of the National Conference of Chief justices and was past-president of the Conference of Chief Justices and past-president of the National Center for State Courts. On July 2, 1987, he was appointed by President Reagan as a member of the board of directors of the State Justice Institute, serving until June 1990. He received the North Dakota National Leadership Award of Excellence from Governor Sinner in 1987, the Distinguished Service Award from the State Bar Association in 1988, the National Center for State Courts' Distinguished Service Award in 1987, and the Herbert Harley Award from the American Judicature Society in 1992. Justice Erickstad retired in December 1992, but continued to serve as a surrogate judge on the Supreme Court and was chairman of the North Dakota Supreme Court Committee on Tribal/State Court Affairs. On July 12, 2000, the North Dakota Supreme Courtroom was dedicated in his name. He was a former Council Commissioner for the Missouri Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was past chairman of the board of trustees of the Missouri Valley Family YMCA. The Boy Scouts awarded him the Silver Beaver Award in1967, and the Northern Lights Council named the 1983 Eagle class in his honor. The Missouri Valley Family YMCA presented him with the first Distinguished Service Award in 1973. Also in 1973, the University of North Dakota honored him with the Sioux Award. He participated for many years in the American Legion's North Dakota Boys State program. He was a member of Bismarck Kiwanis Club, the Lloyd Spetz Post of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Along with his wife, he was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross. He is survived by his wife, Lois; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. John and Sandra Erickstad, and Dr. Mark and Faith Erickstad; five grandchildren and one step-grandchild, Jessica, Jennifer, Katherine, Michael, Karen and Hailey, all of Bismarck; and one brother, Lloyd Erickstad, Devils Lake. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Luella; three brothers, Alton, Irvin and Rollin; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann. The family prefers memorials to Missouri Valley Family YMCA and the Boy Scouts of America.

Peter Freitag
GLEN ULLIN -- Peter Freitag, 89, Glen Ullin, died July 13, 2001, in Glen Ullin. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. MDT Sunday at the church, where a prayer service and rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Peter was born Feb. 22, 1912, at Glen Ullin, the son of Frank Freitag Sr. and Margaret Meininger Freitag. He was raised and educated northwest of Glen Ullin. He married Catherine Schwartzenberger, Jan. 20, 1948, at Hazen. They farmed near Glen Ullin until 1970 when they retired and moved into Glen Ullin. Catherine died Aug. 3, 1991. Peter entered Marian Manor Healthcare Center in August 1999, where he has resided since. Peter enjoyed animals and gardening, especially raising potatoes. He also enjoyed making things out of wood and rock. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, MIles and Ruth, Granger, Ind.; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Larry Heiser, Dickinson; two grandchildren; and one sister, Theresa Messer, Richardton. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.

COOPERSTOWN -- Harry Guler, 90, Cooperstown, died July 13, 2001, in the Cooperstown hospital. Arrangements are pending at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

HAMBERG -- Katelyn J. Risovi, the infant daughter of Wayne and Joleen Risovi, Hamberg, died July 13, 2001, in her home. Arrangements are pending at Nelson Funeral Home, Maddock.

Pauline Rueb
BEULAH -- Pauline Rueb, 85, Beulah, died July 11, 2001, in the Beulah care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah, with the Rev. Kris Nyman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah. Pauline was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Beulah, to Karl and Rosina (Geiszler) Heihn. She was raised and attended school in the Beulah area. She married Jake Rueb on March 29, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church, Beulah. They farmed northeast of Beulah until 1978, when they retired and moved into the city of Beulah. In October 2000, Pauline moved into the Beulah Schoolhouse Apartments, where she enjoyed her new friends. In March, she became a resident of the Knife River Care Center. Pauline was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, a charter member of Beulah Eagles Club, and a member of the Senior Citizen Center in Beulah. Pauline loved dancing and playing cards with her friends and looked forward to visiting with her grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Shelia and Scott; and her great-grandchildren. Pauline is survived by one daughter, Carol Batdorf, Everett, Wash.; four grandchildren, Steve Mosbrucker, Kelseyville, Calif., Mike Mosbrucker, Burien, Wash., Shelia Lyons, Boise, Idaho, and Scott Batdorf, Everett; three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Abigail and Nicole Lyons; one sister, Alvina McLaughlin, Beulah; two sisters-in-law, Martha Heihn, Beulah, and Freida Heihn, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jake; four sisters, Hilda Lippert, Freda Andres, Tillie Schwade and Emma Heihn; and four brothers, Fred, Ted, Otto and Herb Heihn.

Ella Seibel
HARVEY -- Ella (Faul) Seibel, 95, Harvey, died July 12, 2001, in the Harvey care center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey, with burial in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey. She is survived by one daughter, Ruby Steinhorst, Harvey; three sons, Don, Lodi, Calif., Jerry, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Marlo, Wahpeton; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one stepsister, Irene Seibel, Harvey. Esther Bender
Esther Bender, 92, Mobridge, S.D., died April 30, 2001, in a Mobridge care center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Linton. Further arrangements are pending with Myers Funeral Home, Linton.

Milo Borstad
BURLINGTON -- Milo S. Borstad, 82, Burlington, died April 28, 2001, in a Minot health care facility. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Anderson, Minot, and Phyllis Becker, Bismarck; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Beuchler and Donna Luther, both of Minot. Milton Delzer
Milton Delzer, 67, Bismarck, died April 29, 2001, in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Funeral Service Chapel, Bismarck, with the Rev. Donald Burnett officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military rites by VFW Post 1326. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service. Milt was born June 6, 1933, in Venturia, the son of Andrew and Bertha (Dockter) Delzer. He was raised in Venturia and attended schools in Venturia and Ashley, where he graduated in 1951. Milt worked in Bismarck until entering the U.S. Army in 1953. Following his service, he returned to Bismarck. Milt worked with the Soo Line Railroad, Bismarck Hospital and International Harvester prior to working as an insurance agent. Milt married Susan Voegele Jan. 12, 1963, in Bismarck. They moved to Williston in 1969, where he continued to work as an independent insurance agent. Milt and Susan continued to live in Williston after his retirement. Milt loved sports, especially baseball, and would recall and record the stats on teams and players. Milt enjoyed hunting and fishing and the opportunity it gave to be in the outdoors. He also enjoyed being with and laughing with older people. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his son, Barry Giese, Austin, Texas; his granddaughter, Jennifer Giese; his brothers and their wives, Clarence and Lillian and Dennis and Rhonda, all of Bismarck; and his sister-in-law, Ruth Wrishing, Minneapolis, Minn.

Lorraine Ehli
DICKINSON -- Lorraine C. Ehli, 74, Dickinson, died April 30, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.
