The 2000 third grade class at Roosevelt Public School will serve as honorary pallbearers. Jo attended and graduated from Northwood High School in 1994. She was a very competitive basketball player, active in the local FHA chapter and went on to be the state FHA president. She also spent time in Denmark and Norway as a Lion's Club exchange student and eagerly embraced the new and exciting cultures. Jo furthered her education at North Dakota State University. It was there she met her partner in life, Jamie Hauge. Jo told of the day they met, and how Jamie asked her to marry him that first day. They began dating in February 1995, and were engaged shortly thereafter, and married July 6, 1996. Following their wedding, they moved to Beatrice, Neb., where Jo attended and graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a degree in elementary and special education. Not only did she obtain the education for her future career, but also a great love for Husker football. She proudly wore her red Husker apparel and attended home football games, always cheering loudly for the "Big Red." During their time in Nebraska, Jo and Jamie were blessed with a child. A wonderful daughter that looked exactly like her father, except for having her mother's big, beautiful eyes. Jacy Lynn was born Oct. 7, 1999. Jo was a wonderful mother, who always had a fun activity or book to read to her daughter. Jacy was the center of her life. Shortly after her graduation, Jamie and Jo moved their family back to North Dakota to partner in the Blue Hill Ranch farming operation. They settled in Carson, where Jo began her teaching career. This previous year, 13 third grade "stars" had the pleasure of having Mrs. Hauge be their teacher. She was as vibrant and enthusiastic about teaching as she was with the rest of her life. She was constantly talking about her "stars" and their activities and took great pride in shaping their young, impressionable minds. Jo was anxiously waiting to welcome her eight new "trailblazers" this year and take them on a wonderful adventure that she had been preparing all summer. Jo also hoped of continuing her education by returning to school to achieve a master's degree. She always wanted to make sure that there were no limits in her life. From the time that Jo was very young, she announced that she wanted to pursue two careers: to be a mother and teacher. She excelled in both careers. Jamie and Jo were well on their way to making their own life on the farm. They would take great pride in taking Jacy out checking cows or fields with them. She was anxious to move to the farm and raise her child in the rural environment, where her family would be able to spend as much time together pursuing their dreams. Jo was raised in a strong faith, and continued to show that by the way that she lived her daily life. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. Jo is survived by her husband, Jamie Hauge; one daughter, Jacy Lynn; her parents, Curtis Jr. and Roberta Hagert, Emerado; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jared and Brandy Hagert, Emerado, David and Cindy Drees, West Fargo, and Keith and Lee Ila Drees, Emerado; one niece, Amanda; three nephews, Casey, Cody and Ryan Drees; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Jody Hauge, Carson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shannon and Jeff Indovina, Parker, Colo., and Clair and Jennifer Hauge, Fargo; her grandparents, Curtis and Charlotte Hagert, Emerado, Edith Hauge, Elgin, and Irene Sullivan, Lisbon; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Erwin and Lucile Bohnsack, Grant Hauge, Vernon Sullivan; and an uncle, Lynn Bohnsack.
