Clele Johnson
MINNEWAUKAN -- Clele Johnson, 67, Grand Forks, died Aug. 8, 2001, in her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Minnewaukan, with burial at 1 p.m. Wednesday in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan. She is survived by her husband, Stanley; one daughter, Connie Olson, Marshal, Minn.; three sons, Stanley Jr., Grand Forks, Kevin, Seaside, Calif., and Steven, Rapid City, S.D.; six grandchildren; her mother, Amelia Newcomb, Devils Lake; two brothers, Aaron Newcomb, Devils Lake, and Wendell Newcomb, Mandan; and four sisters, Maxine Yri, Minnewaukan, Hazel Crouse, Mandan, Audrey Wagner, Roseville, Minn., and Crystal Maier, Minnewaukan. RICHARDTON -- Joseph Koch, 78, formerly of Richardton, died Aug. 10, 2001, in a Fargo care center. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Further arrangements are pending.

Elizabeth Monzelowsky
Elizabeth "Betty" Monzelowsky, 71, Mandan, died peacefully at her home on Aug. 10, 2001. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, where a parish rosary will be said at 7 tonight. Elizabeth "Betty" Jandl was born June 28, 1930, in Eden, S.D., the daughter of Theresa Jandl. After the death of her mother, she moved to Solen, where she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mary and John Haider. Betty attended school at Solen. On Oct. 26, 1948, she married John C. Monzelowsky at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Solen. In 1993, after the death of her husband, John, she moved to Mandan to live with her son, Gary. For many years, Betty enjoyed work as a cook at the Solen School. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and cooking. She was a 45 year member of American Legion Auxiliary. Betty is survived by her son, Gary, Mandan; nephews and nieces, Bob Miotke, Mandan, Tony Miotke, Daytona Beach, Fla., Marlena Miotke and Robin (Miotke) Olivier, Sioux Falls, S.D. Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Jandl; her aunt and uncle, Mary and John Haider; her brother, Bob Miotke; and her husband, John C. Monzelowsky. The family would like to say a very special thank you to Cheryl and Bryan Keller and the Medcenter One HMR Hospice for making Betty's last days with cancer easier. Memorial contributions may be made to Medcenter One HMR Hospice.

Eva Shearer
Eva Shearer, 53, Bismarck, died Aug. 10, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Funeral Service, with the Rev. Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a prayer service will begin at 7 tonight. Eva Schmidt was born May 7, 1948, in Bismarck, the daughter of Lena and George Schmidt. She was raised and attended schools in Bismarck. Eva married Douglas Shearer in Devils Lake in 1968. They lived in Devils Lake prior to moving to Bismarck in 1975, where Eva has since resided. Eva shared her time with others through volunteer work at the Abused Adult Resource Center, Special Olympics and activities like fishing where she could help others enjoy the outdoors. Even though she had failing health, she was a devoted mother who put the needs of her family before her own. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Rhonda and Bruce Zacher, Mandan, and Verna Hoover, Bismarck; one son, Darren Shearer, Bismarck; her mother and best friend, Lena Schmidt, Bismarck; her sister, Joanne Neutman, Mandan; and her three dogs she called her babies, Scrubby, Coca and Missy. She was preceded in death by her father; and a special friend, Grandpa Joe Kuntz.

Dorothy Stratton
Dorothy Geraldine "Jerry" Stratton, 77, Bismarck, died Aug. 8, 2001, after a long illness. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. There will be no public visitation. Dorothy was born Sept. 6, 1923, in Grove, Okla., the daughter of Abraham and Susan (Beck) Guinn. She married S.V. "Vic" Stratton Jr., on Feb. 24, 1940, in New Orleans, and moved with him to Bismarck in 1957, where she had resided until her death. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia "Kim" and George Yanez, Mt. Airy, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Patrick Lary, Creedmoore, N.C., Michael Lary, High Point, N.C., and Kelsey Vetter and Nicolas Yanez, both of Mt. Airy. She was preceded in death by her husband. Clarence Wolf
HALLIDAY -- Clarence Alfred Wolf, 73, Halliday, died Aug. 10, 2001, in the Mandan hospital after an extended illness. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MDT Monday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Halliday, with the Rev. Jerry Ruelle officiating. Burial will be in Halliday Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. tonight, at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah, and will continue at the church one hour before services. A vigil service will begin at 7 tonight at the funeral home. Clarence Wolf was born Nov. 17, 1927, at Richmond, Minn., to William and Mary (Ludwig) Wolf. He was raised and educated in the Richmond and surrounding area. He joined the military and served his country during World War II. After his discharge he moved to the Bowman area, where he met and married Carol Moravec on April 19, 1949. They lived in the Dodge and Halliday areas where Clarence worked in the trucking business ending his career with Koch Industries. Clarence loved being at the lake, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Clarence is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Martin Schwarz, Bismarck, and Lynn Forster, Halliday; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Duane and Janice Wolf, Bismarck, Brent and Tatiana Wolf, Orlando, Fla., and Stewart Wolf, Moorcroft, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 12 brothers and their wives, Leander, Al, Ray, Norbert, James, Roman, Ed, Don, Leon, Nick, Roger and John; and his special friend, Linda Schreifels. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; his son, Daryl; one son-in-law, David L. Forster; one sister, Alvera Fuchs; and one brother, Walter.

Evelyn Brendle
PARSHALL -- Evelyn Brendle, 83, Parshall, died July 15, 2001, in the Garrison hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, Parshall. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by one son, Darrell, Parshall; two daughters, Diane Rasmusson, Valley City, and Sally Nordquist, Garrison; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Betty Mae Johnson, Mandan, and Doris Hedberg, Parshall. WILLISTON -- Josh Breslin, 36, Williston, formerly of Castle Rock, Colo., died July 12, 2001, in Castle Rock. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Everson Memorial Chapel, Williston. Further arrangements are pending.

Dorlee Guler
NEW ROCKFORD -- Dorlee Guler, 68, New Rockford, died July 16, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Rockford. Further arrangements are pending with Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.

Katie Jo Gussiaas
CARRINGTON -- Katie Jo Gussiaas, 18, Carrington, died July 15, 2001, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near McVille. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carrington School Gymnasium. Burial will be in Kvernes Cemetery, rural Carrington. She is survived by her parents, Bruce and Merleen Gussiaas, Carrington; two brothers, Kirk, at home, and Scott Mehring, Carrington; two sisters, Tammie Hagermeister, Cathay, and Bonnie Rosenau, Carrington; and her grandmother, Elvira Gussiaas, Carrington. Louis Jablonski
Louis Paul Jablonski, 66, Wibaux, Mont., died July 14, 2001, in Wibaux. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. MDT Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Wibaux, with the Rev. David Morman officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Wibaux Cemetery. A rosary vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. MDT Wednesday at the church. Louis was born Jan. 13, 1935, at the family homestead in Wibaux County, Mont., the son of Frank Kasmer and Mary Sokoloski Jablonski. He received his elementary education at Jordan School near the family farm and graduated from Wibaux County High School in 1953. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army for two years stationed in Alaska. Louis was married to Joann Green at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point, Mont., on Oct. 5, 1959. After their marriage they resided on the family homestead 13 miles southeast of Wibaux. They were blessed with 11 children. Louis was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Wibaux. Religion was the focus of Louis and Joann's marriage. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Big Sky Cum Cristo (Cursillo). Louis served as chairman of the Wibaux County School board for 12 years and was a member of the Farmers Union and WCHS Sports Boosters. Louis enjoyed telling stories to his grandchildren and watching them grow up. Everyone loved Louis dearly and he will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Joann; three sons, Jeff Jablonski and his wife Mary, Brighton, Colo., Jon Jablonski and his wife Jana and Tim Jablonski and his wife, Jennifer, all of Bismarck; eight daughters, Therese Hillesland and her husband Chris and Julie Brodhead and her husband Mark, all of Sidney, Mont., Mary Thompson and her husband Tim, Helena, Mont., Jenifer Alley and her husband Randy, Firesteel, S.D., Luann Jablonski, Whitehall, Mont., Jill Amsler and her husband Jerry, Wibaux, Mont., and Rachel and Wendy Jablonski, both of Billings, Mont.; 22 grandchildren; four brothers, Carl Jablonski and his wife Emma, Mandan, Victor Jablonski and his wife Patti, Seattle, Wash., Ed Jablonski and his wife Connie, Butte, Mont., and Robert Jablonski and his wife Elaine, Oxford, Ohio; and five sisters, Natalie Pierzina and her husband Keith, Rialto, Calif., Betsy Honnold and her husband Dean, Federal Way, Wash., Caroline Mathison and her husband Duane, Miles City, Mont., Paulette Miller and her husband Ed, Ipswitch, S.D., and Margie Farstveet and her husband Gary, Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Jablonski; one brother, Frank Jablonski Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Patterson and Mary Hall. (Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home, Beach)

Ernest Johnson
STEELE -- Ernest "Mike" Johnson, 75, Steele, died July 15, 2001, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with the Rev. Paul Tjostem officiating. Burial will be in Maria Cemetery, Kintyre. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Eastgate Chapel, Steele, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. Mike was born Feb. 4, 1926, at Kintyre, the son of Stewart and Anna Johnson. He grew up and attended rural school near Kintyre. He served in the U.S. Army and after his discharge he farmed with his brothers south of Kintyre until he met Vivian Remme. Mike and Vivian were married and settled on a farm east of Kintyre until 1957, when they purchased a farm 10 miles south of Steele. They farmed there until 1974 when arthritis forced Mike to retire from the farm and move to Steele. Mike was a 4-H leader for 20 years, served on the election and fair boards, served as County Assessor and was a Legion Commander. He was a member of the Senior Center and Trinity Lutheran Church. For 25 years he served as Weigh Master for Kidder County. He enjoyed his pug dog, "Cuddles." He is survived by his wife, Vivian; two daughters, Pam Johnson and her special friend Jeff Burgau and Tammy Johnson, all of Steele; four sons and daughters-in-law, Daryl and Bev Johnson, Bismarck, Gary and Juleen Johnson and David and Angie Johnson, all of Steele, and Brian and DeAnne Johnson, Blaine, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon, Kintyre, and Ronald, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth; two brothers, Elmer and Larry; and one grandson, Gregory.

Kenneth Nelson
Kenneth A. Nelson, 64, Bismarck, died July 16, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bismarck Funeral Home. Further arrangements are pending.

Minnie Reichert
Minnie Reichert, 91, Isabel, S.D., died July 14, 2001, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Isabel Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hillview Cemetery, Isabel. She is survived by her husband, Ephriam; two daughters, Eileen Nichols, Belle Fourche, S.D., and Esther Afdahl, Aberdeen, S.D.; one son, Arthur, Isabel, S.D.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Scholl, Lodi, Calif.; and two sisters, Katherine Reich, Lodi, Calif., and Gertrude Bucher, Folsom, Calif. CARRINGTON -- Ellen Roth, 72, Carrington, died July 14, 2001, in a Carrington care center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington. Burial will be in the city cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Walter; one foster daughter, Thelma Trecker, Carrington; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian Elliott, Lodi, Calif.

LuAnn Severance
PALERMO -- LuAnn Severance, 45, Palermo, died July 14, 2001, in a Minot hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gospel Tabernacle Church, New Town. Further arrangements are pending with Johnson Funeral Home, Parshall.

William Snider
William Snider, 69, 106 West Antelope St., Mandan, died July 15, 2001, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Patrick Schumacher officiating. Burial will be in North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military honors by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 707 and Mandan American Legion Post 40. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church, where a parish rosary will be held at 7 p.m. William Snider was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Fort Yates. He was the son of Louis and Rose (Thomas) Snider. William was raised and educated in the Fort Yates area. On April 14, 1956, he married Rita Gourneau in Fort Yates. William served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954, serving during the Korean War. He was employed with Mor-Gran-Sou as a lineman and for the city of Mandan in the water department. He is survived by his wife, Rita; three sons and daughters-in-law, William C. and Michelle and Dave and Deb, all of Mandan, and Greg and Debbie, Roy, Utah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Gary Kraft, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and Betty and Ward Wagy, Mandan; 14 grandchildren, William, Tara, David, Jory, Sarah, Tasha, Ashley, Nicole, Alex, Kayla, Brianna, Jake, Brandon and Kelse;, three brothers, Mike Snider, Fort Yates, and Leo and Pete Snider, both of Mandan; and three sisters, Rose Skaden, Bottineau, Dorothy Richolt, California, and Linda Metzger, Bismarck. He was preceded in death by one stillborn son, William C. Snider, in 1957; his parents; and three brothers, Jack, Joe and Kenneth Snider. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
