Anne Selvig

Anne Lontz Selvig, 80, of Fargo, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2001 at Elim Care Center, after suffering a stroke in August of 2000 at her lake home.

Anne was the daughter of Clifford and Charlotte Lontz and was born in South Bend, Indiana July 3, 1920. After the death of her father in 1927, her mother moved her family back to Fargo to live with her mother’s parents, Norman and Jenny Black. Norman was the owner and publisher of The Forum.

After graduating from Fargo Central High in 1938, where she excelled in tennis and art. She attended Downer Girls School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin majoring in Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and graduated and the American Academy of Art Institute of Chicago. Anne worked as a commercial artist for Donaldsons in Minneapolis after graduation.

Anne married Abner 0. Selvig January 9th, 1943 in a ceremony at her grandparents home in Fargo.

Anne was very active in many Fargo social and volunteer organizations. She was instrumental in forming the first juried Red River Annual Art show. She was also active in Fargo Junior League, Sports Section of the Fine Arts Club, PEO and she was on the Board of Directors of the Fargo Country Club. She also served on the Governors Council on aging and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church. She loved to play golf, work in her flower garden and paint. Anne was very gifted in a Norwegian art called rosemaling. Her friends and family were always bringing her item for her to decorate with the rosemaling designs. Another great love was NDSU athletics. Anne never missed an NDSU football game, even in the early years when the team wasn’t winning very many games. When the team started to improve Anne was there traveling to all the

playoff and bowl games. Even after her stroke, she still listened on the radio and TV. A better fan than Anne was hard to find.

After her husband retired, they spent most of the time at their lake home on Pelican Lake in Minnesota and a home in Sun City West, Arizona.

She is survived by her husband Abner 0. Selvig. Two sons David (Bonnie) and Chris (Kay) both Fargo, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 1 sister Jane (Edward) Stern, Fargo, and Don Lontz, Moorhead. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one daughter, Judy Hulbert.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2001 at 2 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Fargo.

Visitation: Sunday, April 22, 2001 from 4-6 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home.

Burial: Riverside cemetery

David Scott

David L. Scott, 63, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, September 24, 2001 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.

David was born June 18, 1938 in Fargo, ND, the son of David J. and Margaret (Tronnes) Scott. He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Central high school. David married Sheila Walker in 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Yorkton, and was stationed in Japan. He worked for Fairmont Creamery and later went on to work for Nelson Optical. Dave was an optician with Eyecare Associates for many years. On December 19, 1970, David and Vicki Thompson were united in marriage in Fargo, ND.

Dave was an avid Bison Booster and enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, and horseback riding. He was a fan of western movies, all sports, and the FM Redhawks. Dave especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Vicki of Fargo, ND, 2 sons; David R. (Lois) of Fargo, ND, Derek Scott of Bozeman, MT, one daughter; Kristy (Terry) Graten of Fargo, ND, one sister; Sonja (Bill) Minoughan of Bradenton, FL, 6 grandchildren; Dustin Scott, Darin Luebke, Dustin Schultz, Drew Schultz, Dallas Graten, and Ryan Scott.

Memorials preferred to NDSU Teammakers booster club.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2001 at 1 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.

Anna Jane Schlossman
September 9, 1918 - December 12, 2001

Anna Jane Black was born September 9, 1918 in Fargo, ND, the daughter of George M. and Alice (Jordan) Black. She spent her childhood in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1936. She attended North Dakota State University, and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, graduating with a degree in speech in 1941. On February 15, 1941 she married William A. Schlossman in Chicago, IL. In 1945 they returned to Fargo.

Anna Jane was a devoted wife and mother. She treasured her 18 grandchildren and her extended family, and loved to attend her grandchildren’s events. She loved travel, bridge, boating, golf, and spending time with her many life-long friends.

Anna Jane generously supported a wide variety of community organizations benefiting youth, the arts, and education. She participated in many community activities, including the FM Junior League, PEO, AFS, and the FM Community Theater. Anna Jane was a life-long active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fargo.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband William, brother George E. "Ned" Black and sister Marjorie Schuller.

She is survived by:

Daughter, Marjorie Schlossman (Herb Ludwig) and their children Herbert Ludwig Jr. (Michaela) of Hawley, MN, Paysley Permenter (John) of Madison, MS, Alexis Ludwig-Vogen (Kirk) of Minneapolis, MN, Ulysses Ludwig of Venice, CA, Trinity Ludwig, Electra Ludwig, and Sonnet Ludwig all of Fargo; great-grandchildren, Kingsley, Paris, and Rio Permenter of Madison, MS, and Porter and Brogan Ludwig of Hawley, MN.

Daughter Jane Hella (Bruce) and their children Dr. Brent Hella (Dr. Michelle Radke) of Fargo, ND, Tari Hella-Yelk (Sam) of St. Paul, MN; and Bryce Hella, Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Sydney and William Hella of Fargo, ND, and Oliver Yelk of St. Paul, MN.

Son William Schlossman Jr. (Mary) and their children Jordan, Paul, and Todd all of Fargo, ND.

Son Bradley Schlossman (Carol) of Fargo, and children Brad Elliott, Jennifer, and Emily and Alissa Sorum all of Fargo, ND; and former daughter-in-law Jene Schlossman.

Son Jeff Schlossman (Susan) and their children Erin, David, and, Mark all of Fargo, ND.

Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church of Fargo or Kaleidoscope Early Childhood and Family Resource Center.

Funeral Service: Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Fargo.

Visitation: Friday from 5-7 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home of Fargo.

Burial: Riverside cemetery, Fargo, ND.

Caitlyn Rovig

Caitlyn Brenna Rovig, infant daughter of Chad and Terri Rovig, Fargo, died Friday, June 22nd, 2001 at Innovis Hospital, Fargo.

Survivors: Parents: Chad & Terri Rovig, Fargo. Brother: Connor David Rovig, Fargo. Grandparents: Jeanette & Alfred Martin of Balfour, ND and Carol & Myron Rovig of Berthold, ND. Great Grandparents: Edna Rovig of Miles City, MT, Olga Heller of Berthold, ND and David Hirschkorn of Dickinson, ND.

Private family service was held.

Burial: Riverside cemetery, Fargo.

Arthur Roscoe

Arthur Roscoe, age 72, of Fargo, died Monday, May 14, 2001 in MeritCare Hospital.

Arthur was born on October 9, 1928 at Binford, ND the son of Albert and Gertrude (Fredrick) Roscoe. He grew up and graduated from Binford High School in 1946. In 1948 Art enlisted in the Navy and was a corpsman until he was honorably discharged in 1952. On October 13, 1949 he married Margaret Ann Messner in Cooperstown, ND. He worked for the Great Northern railroad until he accepted a job working with the Veteran’s Hospital in Fargo. Art worked for the V.A. for 28 years before he retired. He was an ardent outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he was active in AA.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, his four children, Ronald (Diane) Roscoe, Moorhead, Clark (Lana) Roscoe, Fargo, James (Ali Matteau) Roscoe, Minneapolis, MN, and Beverly (Larry) Suppa, Fargo; one brother, Virgil (Linda) Roscoe, Worden, WA; one sister, Helen (Albin) Hanson, Sheldon, WA; grandchildren, Lisa, Erica, Jon, Dusty, Lynsey, Kayla, and Cody; and one great granddaughter, Taylor. Preceding Art in death are his parents and a brother John.

A Memorial service for Arthur Roscoe will be Friday, May 18 at 2 PM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo. His visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17 with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.

Inurnment will be held in Riverside cemetery Mausoleum, Fargo, ND.

Cory Renshaw

Cory J. Renshaw, 29, of Finley, North Dakota, died Thursday, May 31, 2001.

Cory was born December 31, 1971, in Moorhead, Minnesota, the son of Dennis and Deloris (Sundeen) Renshaw. He spent his childhood in Moorhead and in 1990, graduated from Moorhead High School. Cory attended Moorhead State University from 1990-1993. From 1993-1995 he attended Hibbing Tech where he earned his AAS in Law Enforcement. After graduation, Cory joined the Millbank Police Department, Millbank, SD, where he worked until 1998. He married Lisa Bailey on September 5, 1998, in Proctor, Minnesota. He also worked for the Sargent Co. Sheriffs Department from 1998-1999 and Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department from 1999-2000. In 2000, Cory joined the Steele Co. Sheriffs Department, where he worked up until his death.

Cory will be missed for his infectious laughter, magnetic charm, and outgoing friendship.

He is preceded in death by his grand parents.

He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Deloris, of Detroit Lakes, MN, wife, Lisa and step-son Trevor, of Moose Lake, MN, 2 brothers; Bruce (Val) Renshaw, of Fargo, ND and Craig (Barb) Renshaw, of Lakeville, MN, one sister, Sheri (John) Jones, of Fargo, ND, 4 nephews; Chris, Brett, Quinn, and Andrew, one niece; Brooke, and his loving and loyal K-9 companion, Rico.

Visitation: Monday, June 4, 2001 from 5-7:00pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

Prayer Service: Monday at 7:00pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at 10:00am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Moorhead. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.

Dean Regnier

Dean Vincent Regnier, 67, Fargo, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo. Dean was born on a farm near Marshall, Minnesota on October 5, 1934. Dean was the tenth child of Oscar and Nellie (Christensen) Regnier.

Dean attended grade school in Green Valley, Minnesota until 1946. The Regnier family moved to Marshall where Dean attended junior and senior high school. Dean graduated in 1952. Dean was the tenth of six brothers and three sisters to graduate from Marshall High School.

Dean was in the U.S. Army for three years in the Signal Corp. He was stationed in Europe for two years.

Dean married Sharon Wendell Johnson in 1960. They made their home in Marshall. Olivia, Danube, Pelican Rapids and settled in the Fargo Moorhead area in 1981.

He was employed by Northwest Professional Color in West Fargo.

He is survived by his wife and chi1dren: Tim (Maria) of Hawley; Julie (partner, Michael Jon) of Minneapolis; Tom of Casselton; Kristin (Bill) Braniff of Minneapolis; Michelle (special friend, Jamey) of Minneapolis and Lisa (special friend, Brad) of Minneapolis and by his brothers: James (Peg) of St. Paul; John (Eva Mae) of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; Robert of Wheaton; Richard (Bunny) of St. Cloud and his sisters: Betty (Hugh) Thompson of St. Paul; Irene Johnson of Blaine; Doris (Eric) Weingarten, Trumensburg, New York and his six grandchildren: Kelsey, Katelyn, Andrew, Aaron, Jake and Dylan.

Dean is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William and Wallace.

Our family will fondly remember his love of fishing, hunting and sports. We will treasure the love he gave to our mother and our family.

Memorial Service: Wednesday, December 19th - 10 a.m. at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, 215 South Seventh Street, Fargo, North Dakota.

The family prefers memorials to Compassion International, Colorado Springs, CO 80997.

Clifford Rau

Clifford E. Rau died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Innovis Health after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday, April 17th. He never regained consciousness.

Cliff was born to Edward and Emma Klein Rau in Ashley, ND, on September 9, 1931. He grew up and attended school in Ashley, where he was active in sports, music and the church. He married Geraldine Hoffman in Ashley on July 26, 1950. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past summer.

Cliff attended Jamestown College, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education and Physical Education. In 1961, he received his Master of Arts Degree in Elementary and Secondary School Administration from Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. He taught business at McHenry High School from 1953 to 1956 and served as Principal, basketball and baseball coach. In 1956, he accepted a teaching position at Hankinson, ND, initially as a business teacher, coach, and physical education instructor. He served as Principal from 1957 to 1961, when he assumed the position of Superintendent, a position he held until his retirement in 1990.

Cliff worked with summer youth and swimming programs. He played Legion, college and amateur baseball. He was a charter member of the Lions Club, the golf club, and Calvary Lutheran Church in Hankinson. He held district, regional and state offices in the North Dakota Association of School Administrators. In 1966, he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award for outstanding contributions to education, his community, and his church by the Wahpeton, ND Jaycees.

After his retirement in 1990, Cliff and Geri moved to Fargo. He worked part-time for the Fargo-Moorhead Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and was active in Hope Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Council. He helped coach his grandson’s summer baseball and FM football teams. He enjoyed attending their grandchildren’s athletic activities and music performances. He was also an avid Spartan, Bison, and Redhawk fan.

Cliff is survived by his wife; one son, Dr. Keith (Debbie) Rau of Fargo; grandchildren Nicole and Matt Rau; a brother, Myron (Jerri) Rau of Mesa, AZ; a sister, June Rau Mueller, of St Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Randy.

Memorials are preferred to the Hope Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Memorial Service: Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo, ND.

Burial: Zion Lutheran cemetery, Ashley, ND, at a later date.
