Dr. Jeremy Berge
Dr. Jeremy J. Berge, 57, San Francisco, Calif., died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at his home.
Dr. Berge was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of Curran W. and Ruby E. (Frey) Berge. He grew up on a farm east of Jamestown, and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1961. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1966 with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Sept. 6, 1966, in Jamestown, and was trained as a Vietnamese translator. He served in Vietnam as a school teacher and an interpreter for the mayor of DaNang. After his discharge on April 15, 1970, at Long Beach, Calif., he returned to Vietnam and worked for the Committee of Responsibility. In 1972 he entered the University of California Irvine and received his doctorate of medicine in 1976. He practiced internal medicine in San Francisco, and was affiliated with the California Pacific Medical Center until February 2001, when he retired due to illness.
He is survived by two sisters, Ellen (Gene) Pederson, Bismarck, N.D., and Mona (Ernie E.) Williams, Gackle, N.D..
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, Eddy Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, with the Rev. Dennis Ellingsen officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Ron Fietzek
Ron J. Fietzek, 70, Jamestown, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at Jamestown Hospital, Jamestown.
Mr. Fietzek was born June 8, 1931, in Jamestown, the son of George S. and Elise (Schultz) Fietzek. He grew up on a farm near Millarton, N.D., where he received his education. He worked at the Millarton Elevator until enlisting in the U.S. Navy Oct. 26, 1950, where he served in Korea on the USS Wright. He was discharged July 28, 1954. While serving in the Navy, he received his high school diploma. He worked for Occident Elevator, Jamestown. He married Jan J. Johnston June 22, 1956, in Millarton. They moved to Seattle, Wash., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. They returned to North Dakota and lived in Sydney, where he was a manager of the elevator. They moved to New Rockford, N.D., where he managed the elevator. He was active with the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club in New Rockford. He played on baseball leagues and was known as a "south-paw" pitcher. He became interested in flying and in 1962 he began Ron's Aerial Spraying. In 1963 they purchased a farm in the Sharlow Township southwest of Millarton. He continued to spray crops, in the Midwest as far as Texas. In 1990 he retired from the spraying business due to illness. He was a member of the Sharlow Township Board for many years, Civil Air Patrol, Jamestown Eagles for 35 years and the Vets Club. He was a past president of Montpelier School Board and was a mayor of Montpelier. He enjoyed flying, farming, hunting, cattle, reading and building models.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda DeVries, Jamestown, and Brenda (Tom) Hudinsky, Rockford, Minn.; a son, Jeff (Jeanette), Fargo, N.D.; four brothers, Bud (Alvina), Elko, Nev., Henry (June), Millarton, Wayne (Donna), El Canjon, Calif., and Dean (Joan), Jamestown; a sister, Charleen (Gale) Bergquist, Portland, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ethelwyn Pillaert.
Graveside Service: Held Aug. 1. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Dorothy Hall
Dorothy Hall, 71, Jamestown, died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at Christian Community Home, Hudson, Wis.
Dorothy Emily Sherwood was born July 21, 1930, in Livingston, Mont., the daughter of Ralph Lloyd and Hudia (Wulff) Sherwood. She grew up in Livingston, graduating from Park County High School, Livingston, in 1948. She continued her education at Comptometers School, Spokane, Wash., later attending Jamestown College for three years studying biology. She married Walter R. Hall July 27, 1952, in Livingston. In 1963 they moved to Jamestown, where he worked for the Anne Carlsen Center for Children. She was secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church starting in 1978 and retiring in 1995. She was active in volunteer work. She was a member of the Anne Carlsen Center for Children Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church, Order of Easter Star, Jamestown P.E.O., Elketts, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, gardening and playing bridge.
She is survived by two daughters, Waltara (Soren) Orley, Anchorage, Alaska, and Tamara (Mike) Gundersizk, Hudson, Wis.; a son, Timothy (Pamela), Green Bay, Wis.; a brother, William (Grace). Butte, Mont.; two sisters-in law, Mary Sherwood, Toledo, Ohio, and Bea Hall, Livingston; a special friend, Anne Carlsen, Jamestown; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Ralph.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Terry Anderson officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Black Hills Memorial Cemetery, Sturgis, S.D.
Memorials: Preferred to donor's choice.

Christ Schuler
Christ Schuler, 91, Jamestown, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Central Dakota Nursing Home, Jamestown.
Mr. Schuler was born June 27, 1910, in Jamestown, the son of Fred and Philippina (Scholl) Schuler. The family moved to Robinson, N.D., then to Cleveland, N.D., where he received his education. He married Edna Schelske June 16, 1935, at Reformed Church, near Medina, N.D. They farmed near Medina and Woodworth, N.D. In 1942 they bought a farm east of Buchanan, N.D., and farmed there for 23 years. In 1966 they moved into Jamestown. She died Oct. 3, 1993. He later moved to Rochester, Minn., and lived there for three years, returning to Jamestown in 1999. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown.
He is survived by three sons, Willis (Nancy), Villard, Minn., and Robert (Jean) and Gerald, both Rochester; five sisters, Bertha Bauer, Lodi, Calif., Lydia Noonan, Fort Collins, Colo., Lena Wolf and Elizabeth (John) Leimer, both Jamestown, and Sophia (Harold) Beckman, Ypsilanti, N.D. ; three brothers, Fred, Jamestown, Edwin (Delores), Beaver Dam, Wis., and Ted (Berniece), Sebastopol, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two sisters, Amelia Bauer and Emma Leimer.
Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Aug. 4, Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with the Rev. Randy Jasper officiating. Arrangements by Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown.
Memorials: To Temple Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.

Nora Lillevig
Nora G. Lillevig, 90, Sheyenne, N.D., died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Carrington Health Center, Carrington, N.D.
Nora G. Askim was born Oct. 8, 1910, at Lankin, N.D., the daughter of Iver and Thilda (Hammer) Askim. She married Carl Jore Nov. 2, 1932. They farmed near Edinburg, N.D. In 1946 they moved to New Rockford, N.D., where they continued to farm until 1956. She also worked in various cafes as a cook. In 1962 she purchased the Corner Cafe in Sheyenne, which she operated until retiring in 1973. She married Art Lillevig in June 1969. They lived in the Sheyenne area. He died in 1975. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by a son, C. Norman (Delores) Jore, North East, Pa.; a daughter, Clarise (Allyn) Seastrand, Sheyenne; two stepsons, A.W. (Diana) Lillevig, Falls Church, Va., and Earl Lillevig, Portland, Ore.; a sister, Thelma Jared, Kenmare, N.D.; a special friend, Lester Wessels, Sheyenne; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and three sisters, Inga Opp, Anna Olson and her twin, Olga Krueger.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, Grace Lutheran Church, Sheyenne, with the Rev. Neil R. Lindorff and pastoral intern Tony Pagotto officiating. Arrangements by Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne.

George Sturgeon
George C. Sturgeon, 87, Grand Forks, N.D., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at Prairieview Place Nursing Home, Grand Forks, after a 33-year battle with cancer.
Mr. Sturgeon was born March 9, 1913, at Springfield Mo., the son of William and Josephine (Ross) Sturgeon. The family lived in a number of middle western cities to which his parents, in the Officer Corps of the Salvation Army, were sent. The family was musical and comprised a nine-member family band which performed for public entertainment and religious services. He played brass instruments. He was athletic and enjoyed team and individual sports such as running, sailing and ice-boating. He graduated from Jamestown High School and received his bachelor's degree from Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D., where he qualified for the Lettermen's Society in football and track. After graduation he obtained employment as a teacher and coach for Montrose (S.D.) public schools. He married Esther J. Koehn Jan. 27, 1937, at her home in Jamestown. They lived in Montrose, S.D. In 1940 they moved to Jamestown, where he was a teacher and coach at the high school and then worked for Eddy Furniture Company. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and served more than three years in the Construction Battalion which built and ran an air and oceanic supply and transportation center on Saipan in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged with the rank of petty officer. In 1954 they moved to Grand Forks, where he worked as a salesman, buyer and stockholder for the Bill Larson Furniture Company. He was a member of United Lutheran Church and sung in the church choir. He also sung in a local men's quartet. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Valley Memorial Homes Board, Grand Forks, where he chaired the VM1000 fund-raising campaign. He helped in the construction of every major building at Camp Shalom, a church camp located on Maple Lake. He was a regular church volunteer at the Crippled Children's School, Jamestown; helped sponsor an American Legion Junior Baseball team from Jamestown; and was a fund-raiser for the Grand Forks Lions Club's projects. After retiring he helped advise novice entrepreneurs through the Service Corps of Retired Executives.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, George D. (Norma), Lincoln, Neb., Richard R. (Pamela), Edina, Minn., and James (Lori), Fergus Falls, Minn.; a sister, Genevieve McLean, Sarnia, Ontario; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William, Ronald, Raymond and Alfred; and a sister, Rachel MacLean.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, United Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Arrangements by Amundson Funeral Home, Grand Forks.
Burial: 4 p.m. Monday, Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

John Reuer
John Reuer, 89, Steele, N.D., died Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at a Steele care center.
Mr. Reuer was born June 21, 1912, at Valley Township, Kidder County, North Dakota, the son of John and Magdalena (Schmeier) Reuer.
He grew up and was educated in Valley Township, leaving there in 1937.
He married Emilea Eichele July 10, 1937, at Napoleon, N.D.
They lived in Dawson, N.D.
In 1941 they moved to a farm near Steele.
He is survived by his wife; and a brother, Fred.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Job and Beatrice Rau; and three brothers, Emil, Otto and Martin.
Services: 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with the Rev. Paul Tjostem officiating. Arrangements byEastgate Memorial Chapel, Steele/
Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.
Memorials: Woodlawn Cemetery, Golden Manor or donor's choice.
