Clifford Otis Quick
ALLIANCE - Clifford Otis Quick, 79, of Alliance died June 6, 2001.
He was born Dec. 13, 1921, to Merritt and Gertrude Griffith Quick.
On Sept. 16, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. After his Jan. 17, 1946, discharge, he attended McCook Junior College.
On Aug. 17, 1947, he married Mary Helen Kotschwar at the Garden Prairie Methodist Church at Quick. He graduated from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1950. He worked in several counties and for Neuswangers, Inc.
Mr. Quick was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alliance, the Gideons and the Natural Resource District.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marla (Roger) Wade of Hemingford; two sons, Cliff (Bonnie) Jr. of Whitman and Monte (Tammy) of Larned, Kan.; a sister, Evelyn Hansen of North Platte; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Quick of Lincoln; a brother, Robert Quick of Greeley, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 26 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Aaron Quick.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Alliance with the Rev. Jams Rowe officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. CDT Monday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.

Velma Telitz
Velma Telitz, 75, of North Platte, died June 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 12, 1926, to Herman and Bessie Cassen Keslar at Huntley. She moved to the Ringgold community as a child and attended grade school at Ringgold and high school at Tryon. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1943.
On Oct. 28, 1945, she married Elmer L. Telitz Sr. at North Platte.
He preceded her in death Jan. 6, 1983.
She had lived in North Platte since 1942 and was employed at Allen's Self Service and K Mart, from which she retired in 1993.
She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Telitz is survived by a daughter, Pam (Ron) Welch of Greeley, Colo.; three sons, Elmer L. "Vern" (Marn) Jr. and Gale, all of North Platte and Gary (Jil) of Castle Rock, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Glen and Leslie.
Memorials are suggested to Great Plains Hospice.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Chapel with her grandson, Todd Welch officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
Grace Kasson Henry
COZAD - Grace Kasson Henry, 77, of Cozad died June 8, 2001, at the Elwood Care Center.
She was born Feb. 2, 1924, at Hendley to Thomas and Dott Stucker Hutchens. She was raised at Hendley where she attended rural school.
On June 14, 1946, she married Richard Kasson and they lived at Wilsonville where she was head cook a the Wilsonville school for several years. After her husband's death in 1973, she moved to Norton, Kan., where she was a chiropractic assistant.
On Nov. 23, 1984, she married William "Bill" Henry and they lived in Cozad. In the couple's retirement years, they enjoyed traveling and fishing.
She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ at Lexington, the Federated Women and the Sunnyside Crafters.
Mrs. Henry is survived by a son, Larry Kasson of Wyoming; two stepsons, Kenneth (Dorothy) and Virgil (Myra) Henry, all of Cozad; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Kasson of Eustis; three brothers, Harry (Viva) and Lyle Hutchens, all of Hendley and Jim (Jerrie) Hutchens of Norton; two stepbrothers, Terry (Diane) Lamb of Kearney and Tom (Von) Lamb of Hastings; three sisters-in-law, Goldie (Wendell) Wentling of Beaver City, Estella (Ray) Hornback of O'Neill, and Rhonda Kraft of Wyoming; three grandsons, Jaimie, James and Jason; five great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad.
Bessie B. Lupo
Bessie Beatrice Lupo, 90, of North Platte died June 7, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 25, 1910, to Frank and Soloma Ziegenbein at Rising City.
In 1926, she married Sam Lupo in Iowa. He preceded her in death June 16, 1968.
She was an active member of the Salvation Army Church.
Mrs. Lupo is survived by three daughters, Ella Messersmith of Lincoln, Ellen Wilson of Denver and Wanda (Dwaine) Jess of North Platte; two sons, Danny of Hendley and Larry of North Platte; four sisters, Vivian Parrish of Omaha, Beulah Walters of Norfolk, Nina Lenzen of Beatrice and Wilda Phillips of Waverly; a brother, Charles Noddings of Neleigh; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three children; her parents; a sister; and a brother.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with the Rev. Joan Bizzell officiating.
A memorial has been established.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
Melissa Anne Luther
OMAHA - Melissa Anne Luther of Omaha, grandaughter of Myron and Pauline Romery of North Platte, died June 7, 2001, at the Children's Hospital in Omaha. She was 6.
She was born Aug. 31, 1994, in Omaha to Derrell W. and Anne T. Hearty Luther.
She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Omaha.
Survivors include her father; her stepmother, Kristen; two brothers, Joseph and Bob, both of Omaha; grandparents, James Hearty of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Myron and Pauline Romery of North Platte and Jennifer Berry of Mississippi; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Memorials are suggested to the Melissa Anne Luther Scholarship Fund.
Wake services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Omaha.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Emmett Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Bertha Jean Miller
ALMA - Bertha Jean Miller, 96, of Alma, mother of Bob Miller of North Platte, died June 4, 2001, at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center.
She was born Aug. 21, 1904, to LeRoy and Mary Augusta Bishop Sprague.
On Sept. 4, 1924, she married Walter Myron Miller at the Judge's office in Alma. They retired in 1969 and on May 26, 1994, moved to Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Alma, the United Methodist Women and was a former member of the K.K. Extension Club of Huntley.
Mrs. Miller is survived by two daughters, Wilma (Craig) Kinaman of Hastings and Betty (Bobbie) Dietz of rural Orleans; a son, Bob (Arlene) of North Platte; two sisters, Maxine (Derald) Beedle of Red Feathers Lake, Colo., and Hazel Miller of Lakeside, Colo.; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law; 13 grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; 22 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 28, 1994; a grandson, Thomas Miller; four sisters, Wauneta Richardson, Monta Massey, Mildred Latimer and Bessie Sunquist; three brothers, Harry, Bill and George; seven brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a son-in-law, Bernard Nelson; and other relatives.
Memorials are suggested to the Alma United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Banta-Torrey Funeral Chapel in Alma with the Rev. Lyn Seisen officiating. There will be a private inurnment of the cremains at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bainbridge Cemetery in Huntley.

Homer Ray Mitchell
Homer Ray Mitchell, 92, of North Platte died June 7, 2001, at Linden Court.
He was born Oct. 4, 1908, at Holstein to James N. and Nellie W. Morse Mitchell. He was the third child of 10. He was baptized in the Plainview Church south of Bladen.
On Feb. 24, 1931, he married Irene D. Crouch in Lincoln. On July 23, 1943, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was discharged on Nov. 14, 1944.
Mr. Mitchell lived in Lincoln where he worked as a bus driver. In December 1944, he was hired by the U.S. Post Office, where he worked for 30 years, retiring Oct. 5, 1973.
After retiring, they lived south of Brady until April 1, 1992, when they moved to Centennial Park Retirement Village. His wife preceded him in death Jan. 26, 1996.
On Oct. 10, 1997, he married Helen D. VanMeter Pettit at Arthur.
He was a member of the American Legion Club in Lincoln. He enjoyed dancing and played in the Senior Citizen Band.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Gevene (Raymond) Cochran of Norwood, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis (Gene) Taylor of Sutherland and Roberta Pettit of Bloomington, Minn.; four stepsons, Merlin (Vera) Pettit of Lincoln, Stanley (Julie) Pettit of Stapleton, Dale (Colleen) Pettit of Tryon and Terry (Evelyn) Pettit of Culbertson; three brothers, Harley of Lincoln, Earl (Viola) of Pleasantdale and Lloyd (Minnie) of Twin Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 24 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Edith Burkholder, Hazel Smith, Hilda Koehn and Erma Culver; and two brothers, Elmer and Archie.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Lux of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Blue Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
