Sharon Purviance, 61
CURTIS - Sharon Kay Purviance, 61, died at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007.
She was born May 30, 1945, at Denver, Colo., to Harold and Jean (Albers) Hamberger, and later was adopted by Ellis and Trudy Albers. In 1973 she was married to Terry Purviance at Morill.
She grew up in Denver before moving to western Nebraska in 1972, where she raised her children.
She had lived at Curtis for the past ten years. Sharon enjoyed crocheting, knitting, bingo, bowling, reading and her pets Missy and Snowball. In her younger years she was active in the Women's Bowling Leagues. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at St. John's Lutheran Church at Curtis, Rev. Paul Warneke officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery at Lakewood, Colo. The register book will be available to sign one hour prior to the services.

Jim Schekall, 73
HEMINGFORD - Stanley James "Jim" Schekall, 73, passed on peacefully in his home on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, following a battle with cancer.
He was born April 1, 1933, at Mullen, to Verna May (Reigle) Schekall and Mark Schekall.
He grew up at Hemingford, and attended schools at Hemingford and Scranton, N.D.
Jim served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Coast Guard as an engine mechanic. He was stationed at San Francisco, Calif. He traveled to Japan and the Bering Strait on his tour of duty.
He met and married Donna McKenna in California. Jim and Donna returned to Hemingford to raise their family. Jim spent his life farming and ranching.
Jim designed and built his own hydraulic driven pivot irrigation system. He was an entrepreneur, innovator, inventor and mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, David Daniel Schekall. A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Fr. James Heithoff officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, St. Bridget Church. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home at Hemingford, and at the wake service.
Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice, Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association IV Module Fund or to The American Legion Post No. 9 Avenue of Flags.

Steven Honstein, 59
HEMINGFORD - Steven E. Honstein, 59, of Hemingford died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, in Hemingford.
He was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Torrington, Wyo., to Harry E. and Helen M. (Dreith) Honstein.
Steven grew up in Scottsbluff and was a member of the Immanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the United Methodist Church in Hemingford with Pastor Jeri Soens officiating.
Memorials may be given to Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Vonda Rothleutner, 65
UPTON, Wyo. - Vonda Marie (Linton) Rothleutner, 65, of Upton recently passed away.
Vonda was born May 11, 1941, in Newcastle, Wyo., to Ivan and Eleanor Linton.
On Oct. 3, 1959, she was joined in marriage to Thomas Rothleutner.
A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Worden Funeral Chapel in Newcastle.
Memorial Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Elementary School Auditorium in Upton.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Upton. A memorial has been established for the Upton Public Library, Edwin Japp VFW in Upton or the Upton Gun Club.

Leona Meyer, 86
CHADRON - Leona Mae Meyer, 86, died Jan. 14, 2007, at her home in Chadron.
She was born April 8, 1920, in Merriman, Neb., to Fred and Agnes Cadwallader.
In 1938, she was married to George Meyer.
To this union two daughters were born. Leona was a lifelong area resident. She worked as a floral designer for many years, and she was involved in numerous volunteer activities since her retirement.
Services are pending. A memorial has been established to the Mission Store, PO Box 179, Alliance, NE 69301.

William Rochlitz, 65
HEMINGFORD - William D. "Billy" Rochlitz, 65, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at Hemingford Community Care Center.
He was born march 1, 1941, at Alliance, to Louis and Alta Rochlitz.
He was married to Patty Calvo and they had three children, Jimmy, Jeff and Janet.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be set for a later date.

Vilas O. Sorensen, 93
Vilas O. Sorensen, age 93, of Yankton passed away Sunday, January 07, 2007, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Yankton, with Rev. David Lund officiating.
Burial will be in the Turkey Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Irene, SD at approximately 1:30 PM.
Visitations will be 3 to 9 PM, Wednesday, at the Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, and will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Vilas was born in Irene, SD on January 22, 1913. He attended the Welsh Town Country School through the eighth grade, at which time he farmed with his family.
On April 20, 1935, he was married to Lucille Goebel in Yankton, SD, and to this union four children were born. Vilas had several jobs throughout his younger years, road construction and farming, and working at the sugar factory in Sidney, MT.
Eric W. Krebs, 24
ALLIANCE - Eric W. Krebs, 24, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the Box Butte General Hospital.
Eric was born Oct. 15, 1982, at Alliance, to Monte and Laurie (Wright) Krebs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. James Heithoff officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Wake Services will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, at the church. Memorials may be in care of the family at 1471 CR 65, Alliance, NE 69301.

Ruth Deaton, 88
ALLIANCE - Mary Ruth Deaton, 88, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at her home, Highland Park Care Center.
Ruth was born June 16, 1918 at Erwin, Tenn., to Thomas and Mary (Buckner) Westall.
She was married to Richard V. "Dick" Deaton Sept. 20, 1939, at Bristol, Tenn. Ruth and Dick spent the first 20 years of their marriage traveling from port to port with the Navy.
In 1955 they settled with their two children Penny and Phil at Pitman, N.J. After Dick passed away in September of 1991, Ruth relocated to Nebraska. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Her family was her pride and joy. She never had enough pictures to 'show off' all those beautiful and talented kids of hers. Her memory will stay alive and warm in the hearts of all the loved ones she leaves behind.
A private memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 29, at Highland Park Care Center. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Prairie Haven Hospice, Highland Park Care Center, or a charity of your choice.
