Jerald Charles Kelsey
Jerald Charles "Jerry" Kelsey of Heidelberg, Germany, formerly of North Platte, died June 3, 2001, in Bolzano, Italy, while vacationing. He was 59.

He was born June 10, 1941, in North Platte to Charles Leslie and Dorothy Maurine Halverson Kelsey. He grew up in North Platte and graduated in 1959. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He was discharged in December 1962 and remained in Germany where he worked for the U.S. government or Army-related firms. He most recently worked for the U.S. Vehicle Registry in Mannheim, Germany.

In 1969, he married Angelika Baer of Halle, Germany. Living in the Old World, Mr. Kelsey was involved in European history and culture. He was an enthusiastic hunter, photographer, chess player and guitar player.

Survivors include his wife of Heidelberg; a son, Richard Charles of Heidelberg; his mother, Dorothy Kelsey Foster of North Platte; four brothers, Robert (Melonne) and Thomas (Meri Beth) Kelsey, both of North Platte, Jack (Susan) Kelsey of Little Rock, Ark., and Steven (Maria) Kelsey of Omaha; three half-sisters, Mary (Donald) Goosey and Abby Foster, all of North Platte, and Anne (Paul) McQueen of Abilene, Texas; and two half-brothers, Mark Foster of Lincoln and Joel (Brenda) Foster of Paducah, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, John Foster; and two half-brothers, John and Kent Foster.

A memorial has been established.

Memorial graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with military honors by the North Platte Honor Guard.

The memorial book can be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel and Thursday prior to services at the cemetery.

Odean Colonial Chapel is in charge.

Edna L. Kieselhorst
LEXINGTON - Edna Kieselhorst, 94, of Lexington died June 25, 2001, at the Cozad Hospital.

She was born Nov. 28, 1906, near Alma to Edward and Nancy Sturman Martin. She attended school in Arthur County.

She married W.L. Hayward and they made their home in Hyannis and Bridgeport.

She later married Edward Kieselhorst and they made their home at Sidney, where she worked at the Ordinance Depot. After her husband's death in 1985, she moved to Alliance. She had made her home in Lexington the past three years.

Mrs. Kieselhorst is survived by a son, Bill (Eloise) Hayward of Cozad; a sister, Harriet Wilson of Arthur; a brother, Floyd Martin of Harrah, Okla.; and a granddaughter, April Hayward of Abingdon, Ill.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Hayward, and three sisters, Barbara Brown, Ethel Atkins and Bessie Dawson.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with the Rev. Dan Cosson of the Grace Lutheran Church of Lexington officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. MDT Friday in the Greenwood Cemetery at Sidney.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.

Thellie Corrine Lee
Thellie Corrine Lee, 84, of North Platte died June 24, 2001, at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte.

She was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Douglas County, Ga., to Crayton "Pete" and Mary Catherine Beddington Queen. She grew up and attended school in that area.

On May 21, 1934, she married James Clayburn Gibson in Douglas County, where they made their home. He preceded her in death in 1937. She worked at the Coats and Clark Thread mill.

On June 21, 1944, she married Henry Whitfield Lee in Douglas County. They moved to North Platte in May 1978. Her husband preceded her in death in 1982.

Mrs. Lee is survived by a daughter, Jean (Ralph) Vogel of North Platte; a daughter-in-law, Marie Gibson of California; a sister, Elma Whitmire of Woodstock, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Richard, Mark and Mike (Jeannine) Gibson and Annette (Scott) Seki, all of California, David (Sally) Vogel of Craig, Kathy (Mike) Vogel-Trotter of North Platte, Jeff (Stacy) Vogel of St. Paul, Kayleen (Shandy) Vogel-Heller of Lincoln and Joe (Maisha) Vogel of Aurora, Colo.; 13 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

She was also preceded in death by a son, James Gibson; two sisters, Leah Grantham and an infant sister; three brothers, Ken, Herbert and Horace Queen; and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dan Reimer of the Bethel Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel.

Ivan Paul Madron
THEDFORD - Ivan Paul Madron, 93, of Thedford died June 22, 2001, at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Hospital in Broken Bow after a short illness.

He was born Jan. 13, 1908, near Fairfax, Mo., to Joseph C. and Tempie Howard Madron. The family came to Thomas County in 1918 and settled south of Seneca. He attended rural schools in the area and also in Seneca. He was from a family of 14. As a young boy, he knew hard work, milking cows, picking corn and working at any odd job that was available.

On Dec. 10, 1927, he married Luetta B. Mowery in Mullen. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December 1997. His wife preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 1998.

Mr. Madron was a rancher and took great pride in his Hereford cattle and earlier in his Percheron horses. He was known as an accommodating neighbor.

Survivors include his two sons, Paul C. (DeEtta) and J. Donald (J. Marlene), both of Thedford; four grandchildren, Twila (Steven) Springer, Connie (James) Pierson, Marla (Dale) Holthusen and Mark Madron; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, his twin, Ida Goehring of Broken Bow, and Marie Broyles of Kansas; a brother, William Madron of Idaho; and many other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a grandson and his wife and two children, Rourke, Marlene, Janae and Rendle Madron; two sisters, Dot and Ada; a brother Rodney; three half-sisters, Elsie, Elgyria and Hazel; and four half-brothers, Herman, James, Isaac and Ralph.

Memorials are suggested to Hillcrest Cemetery.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. CDT today in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Thedford with the Rev. Jonathan Busch officiating.

The casket will be open at the cemetery.

The Mullen Funeral Home of Mullen is in charge.

Ray M. McDougall
CURTIS - Ray M. McDougall, 87, died June 22, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born June 14, 1914, on a farm south of Curtis to Samuel Clarence and Nellie White McDougall, the youngest of four children. He graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1931. He then returned to help his parents on the farm during the drought years.

On March 9, 1940, he married Oma Masters. They went to Idaho, where his sister, Martha, lived. The first year they both worked in the vegetable fields. He later worked at a filling station and repair shop. In the spring of 1941, he got a job on the construction site of the Anderson Ranch Dam in Mountain Home, Idaho. This site was about 30 miles up in the mountains. He continued to work there until he was drafted into the Army, serving from Nov. 11, 1942, to Nov. 4, 1945. During that time, he served both in the United States and later overseas in combat in the European Theater up through Italy. In Spring 1946, he and his wife returned to the farm. She preceded him in death May 29, 1987.

Mr. McDougall was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Elks Club and the Maywood American Legion Post 95.

Surviving him is a special friend, Agnes Dack of Curtis; three nieces, Doneta (Phil) Baca of Spring Valley, Ariz., Cleone (Bob) Morris of Freeburg, Ill., and Alice Rae (Gary) White of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Martha and Ida, and an infant brother.

Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post 95.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville with Bob Morris officiating and military honors by the American Legion Post 95.

Blase Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis is in charge.

Frances B. McMillan
BROKEN BOW - Frances McMillan, 99, of Milburn died June 23, 2001, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Broken Bow.

She was born Dec. 9, 1901, in a sod house southwest of Dunning to Fredrick J. and Pearl R. Roe Black. She lived with her family on the ranch on the Dismal River. She attended school and graduated in 1920 from high school in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She received her lifetime teaching certificate and taught fourth grade in North Platte for a few years.

On June 7, 1927, she married Thomas Wright McMillan at Broken Bow. They had six children. They moved to the present location near Milburn in the spring of 1935, where they raised their children and ranched. Her husband died Nov. 20, 1975. She continued to live on the ranch, moving to Broken Bow just a few weeks before her death.

Mrs. McMillan enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and entertained all with her piano and organ playing.

She was a charter member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of DOES Drove 68 in Broken Bow. She was also a member of the Anselmo Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 6215 for 52 years and a member of the Brewster United Church of Christ.

Survivors include two daughters, Virginian Anderson (Don) Cook of Broken Bow and Mary Ann (Dean) Fenwick of Keystone; three sons, Thomas R. (Roberta) of Bellwood, James J. (Vernette) of Milburn and Samuel A. (Sandra) of Albion; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas B.; her parents; a grandson; a great-grandson; and a son-in-law.

Memorials may be given to the Custer County Hospice or the Brewster United Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Tim Pearson officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.

Richard D. Parkison
OGALLALA - Richard D. Parkison, 73, of Ogallala died June 23, 2001, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

He was born Oct. 21, 1927, at Ansley to Sherman and Mina Mobley Parkison. He grew up and attended schools in Sargent. He attended a year of college following graduation from high school before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in Panama.

Mr. Parkison was a road supervisor for the Nebraska Department of Roads until his retirement.

Surviving him is a daughter, Deb Parkison of Ogallala; a son, Jeff of Lincoln; a brother, Don Parkison of Missouri; two granddaughters, Jacque Deacon of Lake Bay, Wash., and Christie Putman of Tacoma, Wash; and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine of Tacoma, Wash.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Worldwide Wildlife Fund or the Paralyzed Veterans Fund.

The body was cremated.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mary Lou Reynolds officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Gubser Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge.

Rogelio Reyes Tercero Perez
LEXINGTON - Rogelio Reyes Tercero Perez, 4, of Lexington died June 22, 2001, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

He was born Jan. 5, 1997, at Atlanta to Diego Tercero Ramirez and Rosa Marina Tercero Perez.

Survivors include his parents and a younger brother of Lexington

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the El Buen Pastor Church in Lexington with the Rev. Juan DeLeon officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge.
