Larry Lee Gunnerson
McCOOK - Larry Lee Gunnerson of McCook, a former resident of Cozad and Lexington, died July 3, 2001, at the Community Hospital in McCook. He was 63.

He was born Aug. 26, 1937, to Carl Theodore and Mabel Pearl Willis Gunnerson near Bertrand. He grew up and attended school at Cozad.

On Dec. 17, 1960, he married Lynette Jean Aden of Gothenburg at the American Lutheran Church in Cozad, where the couple lived until 1972. He was a member of the Cozad Volunteer Fire Department and the Cozad Jaycees. They moved to Lexington and in 1985 they moved to McCook, where they had lived since.

He graduated from McCook Community College in 1991 with an associate's degree in general studies.

Mr. Gunnerson was a member of the 1013th Quartermaster Company Det-1 in McCook and was the unit administrator from January 1985 until his retirement in March 2000.

He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family.

Surviving him is his wife; three sons, Alan Lee (Myong) of Fort Monroe, Va., Kirk Eugene (Brandy) of Lincoln and Kevin Dean (Margaret) of Moberly, Mo.; a brother, Rex Alan (Inez) Gunnerson of 29 Palms, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in McCook with the Revs. Harold and Barb Laursen officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with graveside military honors by the North Platte Veteran's Honor Guard.

Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge.

Archie R. Keebler
STERLING - Archie R. Keebler of Sterling, father of Dorothy Keebler of North Platte, died July 4, 2001, at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. He was 88.

He was born March 25, 1913, to Fredrich and Sophia Krause Keebler at rural Adams, where he graduated from high school in 1932. He was a long-distance runner in high school and was offered a scholarship to attend Kansas State University, but he decided to farm with his father and uncle.

On March 3, 1945, he married Bertha May Wentz at Ellis. They lived with his parents for five years and then purchased their own farm southwest of Sterling, where they lived for the remainder of their married life.

In 1967, they received the Ak-Sar-Ben Pioneer Farm Family Award. He was a lifelong member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church of rural Sterling. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, the Sterling Improvement Association when the medical clinic was built and served on the District 39 Keebler school board. He enjoyed reading, geography, playing cards, traveling and Nebraska football.

Surviving him are two daughters, Dorothy Keebler of North Platte and Karen Keebler of Bardonia, N.Y.; four sons, Wes (Chris) of Inland, Earl (Audrey) and Terry, both of Sterling, and Roger (Veda) of Omaha; 16 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Aug. 30, 1982; a son, Gale, who died Aug. 17, 1996; his parents; three sisters; and three brothers-in-law.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Hopewell United Methodist Church in rural Sterling with the Rev. Rob Visscher officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery at Adams.

Visitation will be an hour prior to services today at the church.

Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling is in charge.

Mildred Florence Lloyd
DENVER - Mildred Florence Lloyd, sister of Leora McFarland of North Platte and James Johnson of Mullen, died May 16, 2001, in Denver.

She was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Perkins County to John Christ and Carrie Christina Morrison Johnson. In 1936, the family moved to North Platte, where she grew up and graduated from North Platte High School.

On July 26, 1944, she married John F. Lloyd in North Platte, where they lived until 1955, when they moved to Denver. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991.

Mrs. Lloyd is survived by a daughter, Theresa A. (John) Kraker of Westminster, Colo.; a son, James (Donna) of Rocky Ford, Colo.; two sisters, Leora (Donald) McFarland of North Platte and Alice (Chester) Florom of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, James (Josephine) Johnson of Mullen; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was an infant daughter; a son, John; her parents; two sisters, Marie Anna Hazelrigg and Margaret Mae Collins; a brother, Paul Nels Johnson, who was killed in World War II; a sister-in-law, Helen Johnson; and two brothers-in-law, Don Hazelrigg and Leroy Collins.

Services were May 21, 2001, at Moore Howard Berkley Mortuary. Burial was in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Frances A. Olson
Frances Agnes Olson, 85, of North Platte died July 4, 2001, at BryanLGH in Lincoln.

She was born June 6, 1916, to Alfred and Agnes Thiede Dieken at Juniata. She was raised in Adams County and moved to Kansas at the age of 18. When she was 22, she moved to North Platte and had resided here since.

On Oct. 1, 1940, she married Carl A. Olson in Oberlin, Kan. He preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1987. She and her husband were wheat harvesters for about 20 years. She was also employed at the Pawnee Hotel and later at the Holiday Inn, retiring as a seamstress. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Olson is survived by two daughters, Mary Robertson and Marlene (Bruce) Blanchard, both of North Platte; a half-sister, Doris Richardson of Holdrege; five grandchildren, Ruth Eicke, Rosalie Mayfield, Donna Kendrick and Jay (Diane) and Layne (Janeen) Nickerson; 11 great-grandchildren, Michelle (David) Fletcher, Carrie (Rocky) Johnson, Tami Eicke, Tony Nieuwenhuis, Brenda and Nick Eicke, Mike and Stacy Kendrick, and Nicole, Dustin and Bryson Nickerson; and four great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Alexis Fletcher, Savannah Eicke and Trey Johnson; a niece, Elizabeth Muzingo; and a special friend, Harold Armstrong.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Rhonda Mayfield; a sister, Margaret Griffiths; two half-sisters, Artie Childers and Dorothy Raver; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Olson.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Nathan Wadewitz officiating. Burial will be in North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Caryl Hooper
KELLYVILLE, Okla. — Caryl Hooper, 90, of Kellyville, Okla., formerly of Gothenburg and sister of Lois Atkinson of Gothenburg, died June 20, 2001, in Bristow, Okla.

She was born July 18, 1911, in Gothenburg, one of eight children born to Frank and Stella Loutzenhauser Brush. Following high school she moved to Wyoming to work on a sheep ranch, where she met and married Robert Edward Garfield in 1933. He died during World War II.

On March 18, 1948, she married Merritt Hooper in Drumright, Okla.

She was a member of the FCE Extension Club of Kellyville for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. She made many fine quilts and crafts

Mrs. Hooper is survived by two daughters, Muriel (Bob) Kraus of Riverton, Wyo., and Martha Peterson of Kellyville; a son, Robert (Josette) Garfield of Friendswood, Texas; a stepson, Robert (Jean) Hooper of Longview, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Rick, Eric and Mike Kraus, John Garfield, Patricia Wirt, Tina Fullmer and Mark Manka; 12 great-grandchildren, Amy, Tracy, Jaden, Kylee, Miranda, Merissa and Marriah Kraus, Jennifer and Sabrina Garfield, Makayla Wirt and Levi and Christi Fullmer; and two sisters, Lois Atkinson of Gothenburg and Delores Geiken of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and five brothers, Merrill, William, Perry Oliver, Raymond and Tommy Brush.

Services were June 25, 2001, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Sunrise Cemetery.

David L. Howe
HASTINGS — David L. Howe, 47, of Hastings, brother of Keith Howe of North Platte, died July 4, 2001, in rural Hastings as a result of a hang-gliding accident.

He was born March 9, 1954, in Kearney to Andrew D. and Nevabelle Bridges Howe. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1972 and from Kearney State College in 1975 with a double major in biology and chemistry. In 1978, he received his medical degree, graduating with honors from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He completed his residency in internal medicine in 1981 and an oncology fellowship in 1983, all at the University Medical Center in Omaha.

On March 15, 1980, he married Janet Weedin in Aurora. They moved from Omaha to Hastings in 1983, where he began his practice of Cancer Specialists, P.C.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, where he served on the board of elders, the building committee and worked with the Awana program. He was a former member of the Gideon Society.

Dr. Howe was president of the Nebraska Oncology Society. He was also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, the Lymphoma Study Group, the Nebraska Medical Association, the Adams County Medical Society, the Mary Lanning Memorial Cancer Committee and the Department of Internal Medicine where he was a past chairman. He was also a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee, the Midwest Oncology Purchasing Society and the American Rose Society. He was active in the Relay for Life cancer walk in Hastings and the surrounding areas.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathryn and Sarah Howe, both of Hastings; a son, Nathan of Hastings; his parents; a brother; Keith (Holly) Howe of North Platte; and his mother-in-law, C. Lucille Weedin of Hastings.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Weedin.

Memorials are suggested to the David L. Howe Memorial Fund.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Champions Sports & Recreation Complex with the Rev. Randy F. Madison officiating. Burial will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.

There will be register book signing from 1 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings and one hour prior to the service Monday at the sports complex.

Rena Randall Gross
MINATARE — Rena Randall Gross of Minatare, grandmother of Frank Tanner of North Platte, died July 3, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff. She was 90.

She was born March 9, 1911, southeast of Gering to Dean E. and Sadie E. Belden Randall on her parent's homestead. She received her early education in Melbeta and graduated from Gering High School in 1928.

On Aug. 28, 1927, she married Robert F. Gross in Harrisburg. She was office receptionist for Dr. W.C. Harvey Sr. in Gering and a teller at Gering National Bank. She then operated the Lake Alice store with her husband from 1949 to 1960. She retired from Great Western Sugar Co. after 23 years as a secretary.

Mrs. Gross was a member of the church and a past member of the Quarter Century Club in Minatare.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia (Bob) Tanner of Minatare and a grandson, Frank (Deb) Tanner of North Platte.

Memorials may be given to the Melbeta United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Melbeta United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda Battello officiating. Private inurnment will be in Creighton Valley Cemetery near Melbeta.

Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff is in charge.

Edith N. Moore
Edith Nelle Moore, 87, of North Platte died July 6, 2001, at her home.

She was born Sept. 28, 1913, at Excello, Mo., to Benjamin and Martha Walker Lamb. She was raised in Missouri, where she taught country school.

She married B. Frank Moore in Missouri. They moved to North Platte in 1945 and she had lived here since. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's construction business and was also employed for a number of years as a salesperson by the Singer Sewing Co.

Mrs. Moore attended the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Signet Chapter 55 Order of Eastern Star and a former worthy matron, a member of the Social Order of the Beaucants, the UTU Auxiliary and was a hospital volunteer.

Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor (Buddy) Lenzini of Macon, Mo., and Martha (Jim) McEvoy of Independence, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 1979; her parents; three sisters; and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Crippled Children's Transportation fund.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev Larry Lang officiating. Further services will be held at Macon with burial in the Mount Salem Cemetery in Jacksonville, Mo.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
