Waldo Cramer
GRANT - Waldo Cramer, 89, of Grant died July 19, 2001, at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

He was born June 27, 1912, at Nora to Claude and Mary Larson Cramer. He grew up in the Superior area and graduated from Superior High School in 1930. He worked in a variety store in Superior after high school where he learned merchandising. He moved to Grant in 1936, where he worked for the P and H Variety Store until 1948.

On June 16, 1948, he married Zelda Keller in Grant. They made their first home in Nelson where they operated the Cramer Variety Store. They returned to Grant in 1963.

As a young man, he belonged to the Superior IOOF and later served as a Boy Scout leader in Grant.

Mr. Cramer is survived by a sister, Arlene Cramer of Superior.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1998; and two brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Grant Cemetery with John Long officiating.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant is in charge.

Susie Eckland
SCOTTSBLUFF - Susie Eckland, 87, of Scottsbluff, mother of Janis Tomjack of North Platte, died July 18, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare Center.

She was born July 6, 1914, in Banner County to Mervin and Mary Koenig Snyder. She attended school at District 16-Twin Tree School in Banner County.

On Sept. 12, 1932, she married Fred Andrew Eckland in Kimball.

She was employed at the McKinley Ward School Cafeteria for 10 years. She was a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary for 10 years. She was a a member of the Central Church of Christ in Gering and participated in the U & I Sunday school class since 1958.

Mrs. Eckland is survived by two daughters, Janis (Lawrence) Tomjack of North Platte and Karen (Jerry) Ross of Scottsbluff; two sons, Aldon (Donna) and Leonard, all of Scottsbluff; a brother, Arthur Snyder of Longmont, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters; and four brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Central Church of Christ.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Central Church of Christ in Gering with the Revs. Victor McPeak and Howard Roseberry officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Scottsbluff.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Gering Memorial Chapel. The casket will be closed at the church.

Robert Louis Gonzales
Robert Louis Gonzales, 80, of North Platte died July 15, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 24, 1920, at Gothenburg to Adolph Edward and Jane Matthews Gonzales. He grew up in Gothenburg and graduating in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 28, 1942, and made his career with the Navy serving on hospital ships.

After his discharge, he moved to North Platte. He lived with his sister until 1971 when he lived by himself.

Mr. Gonzales was a member of the PR Halligan Post 163 American Legion and Noel C. Donegan Post 1504 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was baptized in the Catholic faith. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include hi sister, Ada L. Clarine of Denver; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ellen Brazier, Flora Mundell and Bertha VanNortwick; and five brothers, Charles, William, Jerry, John and Paul.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell with the Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski Jr. officiating. Military honors will be provided by the North Platte Veteran's Honor Guard.

The body was cremated. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte and before the service at the cemetery.

Patricia 'Pat' Piper
Patricia "Pat" Piper, 60, of North Platte died July 16, 2001, at Linden Court.

She was born March 17, 1941, at Grand Junction, Colo., to Murell and Catherine Reager Wilson. She graduated from Southwestern Bible Institute at Waxahachie, Texas. She was a secretary for a number of years for Nash and Finch and the Telegraph.

She married Thomas Piper and they lived in the Wellfleet and Maywood area before moving to North Platte in 1973. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Piper is survived by a daughter, Ginella Piper of Crescent City, Fla.; a son, Rodney (Jamie) of North Platte; four grandchildren, Jonathan Loving, Austin and Katie Lyn Piper and Zach Vargas; three sisters, Barbara Schliebe of San Jose, Calif., Carol Pershall of Ariz., and Jeannie Walker of New Mexico; and a brother, Robert Wilson of Phoenix.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. Tom Brouillette of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at Celebrant. Burial will be in the Wellfleet Cemetery.

Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Thomas Brown Jr.
KEARNEY - Thomas Brown Jr. of Kearney, a native of North Platte, died July 19, 2001, of an apparent downing at a sandpit south of Kearney. He was 29.

He was born Jan. 27, 1972, in North Platte to Thomas Sr. and Wilma Dills Brown. He was a 1990 graduate of Kearney High School. He entered the Army in 1990 and served in the 101st Airborne Division during the Gulf War.

Mr. Brown was involved with Junior Olympics, diving, weight-lifting and martial arts.

He is survived by a son, Bishop, of Kearney; his mother of York; a brother, Edward of Springfield, Ore.; and his maternal grandparents, Donald and Betty Allan of Canton, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his father, a sister and his paternal grandparents.

Olivia E. Snyder
Olivia Elizabeth Snyder, 95, former North Platte resident, died July 18, 2001, at her home in Omaha.

She was born July 4, 1906, to Harry and Sarah Lamplaugh at North Platte, where she attended school and graduated from North Platte High School in 1926.

She worked four years at the North Platte Telegraph prior to her marriage to Austen R. Snyder on July 19, 1930. They moved to Omaha in 1953, where they had resided since. The couple had been married 36 years when her husband preceded her in death June 6, 1966.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Gerald) Moleton of Boulder City, Nev.; a son, Robert A. of Omaha; two sisters, Lucille Percy of North Platte and Inez Bithell of Phoenix; a brother, Edward Lamplaugh of North Platte; four granddaughters, Shelley Garrett, Gwen Skidmore, Cynthia Lomprey and Leslie Moleton; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers.

A memorial has been established to the Omaha Volunteers for Crippled Children Scholarship Fund or to the Omaha Methodist Hospital Hospice.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adams & Swanson Chapel.

Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Patricia 'Pat' Piper
Patricia "Pat" Piper, 60, of North Platte died July 16, 2001, at Linden Court.

Jakob William Tatman
POST FALLS, Idaho - Jakob William Tatman, great-grandson of Terry and Marlene Tatman and Fern Cooper, all of North Platte, died July 18, 2001, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was 3 months old.

He was born April 10, 2001, to Luke and Amber Lee Gilbert Tatman in Spokane, Wash.

He is survived by his parents of Post Falls, Idaho; grandparents, Don and Lisa Gilbert and Ron and Glenda Tatman, all of Post Falls; other great-grandparents, Bobbie and Bill Toliver of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Bill and Helen Gilbert of Turlock, Calif.; an aunt, Boni Jackson of Post Falls; and uncles Rick Jackson and Jack Gilbert, both of Post Falls.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Post Falls.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

David Harry Kramer
SCOTTSBLUFF - David Harry Kramer, 40, of Scottsbluff, brother of Kathleen A. Barker and uncle of Ryan Barker, both of North Platte, died July 20, 2001, at his home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1961, in Scottsbluff to Donald L. and Violet M. Asmus Kramer. He graduated from Lyman High School in 1979. He farmed for several years with his father. He also worked at Caboose Hobbies in Denver and Sears in Fort Collins, Colo.

Mr. Kramer enjoyed model railroads. He designed and built bridges, buildings and layouts. He distributed them in various model railroad magazines. For many years he was a member of the Salem Congregational Church, where he was confirmed.

Survivors include his mother of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a sister, Kathleen A. (David) Barker of North Platte; a nephew, Ryan Barker of North Platte; and a grandmother, Mary Rupp of Scottsbluff.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; David and Mary Asmus and Harry Kramer; and a stepgrandfather, David Rupp.

Memorials are suggested to the Salem Congregational Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with the Rev. Dale Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff.
