Doyle Marsh
ANSLEY -Francis Doyle Marsh Jr. of Ansley died July, 20, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. He was 76.

He was born July 1, 1925, at Arcadia to Francis and Orpha Eastman Marsh. He attended schools in Arcadia, graduating from Arcadia High School in 1942. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany, France and England.

On Aug. 15, 1948, he married Shirley Casteel in Westerville. He fed cattle and operated a commercial cattle cow herd until the early 1970s. He joined his brother in the Marsh Bros. Oil Company in Ansley. In 1962, he bought his brother out and continued to owned and operated the oil company until 1993.

Mr. Marsh was a member of the Ansley American Legion, the Veteran's of Foreign Wars; and a former member of the Broken Bow Elk's Lodge.

Survivors include a daughter, Dottie (Jim) Buchanan of Omaha; two sons, Rod (Sharon) of Ansley and Mike (Karen) of North Platte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a companion, Lillian Tvrdik of Comstock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and five brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Ansley American Legion Post.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church in Ansley with the Rev. Mel Shepherd officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Ansley Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ailene Chillemi
VENANGO - Ailene Chillemi, 81, of Venango died July 21, 2001, at the Prairie Vista Care Center at Holyoke, Colo.

She was born April 24, 1910, at Osborne, Kan., to James and Mabelle Wolford Brent. She grew up in Osborne and graduated from high school in 1938 in Alma, Kan.

She married Erwin DeForest on Feb. 11, 1940. After his death in 1947, she moved to Aurora, Colo., where she met and married Ernest Chillemi on Nov. 25, 1949. They moved to Venango in 1980.

Mrs. Chillemi was a charter member of the Venango Lion's Club, the Venango Legion Auxiliary and the Perkins County Senior Center. In Grant, she was instrumental in starting the Thrift Shop.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Karen (Douglas) Haglund of Centennial, Colo., and Debra Chillemi of Aurora, Colo.; three sons, Dale (Bernadette) Deforest of Ogallala, Ernest S. (Linda) Chillemi of Venango, and Jeffrey Chillemi of Littleton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Venango Community Church with the Rev. Cecil Ball officiating. Burial will be in the Venango Cemetery.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant is in charge.

Orin Mac Connery
Orin Mac Connery of North Platte died July 22, 2001, at Premier Estates. He was 77.

He was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Cody to Ted and Mamie Reeves Connery. He attended high school in Cody. In April 1943, he joined the U.S. Army and served with the 158 Infantry during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was discharged Jan. 5, 1946, with the rank of staff sergeant.

On Aug. 22, 1946, he married Lois Wobig in Valentine. They lived on a ranch by the Niobrara River, just south of Cody. In May 1961, they moved into Cody where they owned a motel and he took over a rural mail contract and carried mail out of Cody into South Dakota for 35 years. In August 1996, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In November 1996, they moved to North Platte due to his illness.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 319 Rieke-Mieidle in Cody.

Mrs. Connery is survived by his wife; a daughter, Jan (Tim McQuade) of North Platte; two sons, Gary (Kay) of North Platte and Dan (Yvonne) of Mitchell; six grandchildren, Dana Connery of Greeley, Colo., J.C. Connery and Travis and Trea McQuade, all of Denver, Tyler Connery of Louisville, Texas, and Amy Connery of North Platte; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Sierra and Austin; three sisters-in-laws, Dixie, Janet and Hazel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Lillis; four brothers, Eddie, Teddy, Bernard and Roger; and his father and mother-in-law, Harry and Hazel Wobig.

He was a hardworking and loving husband, father and grandfather. He valued his many friends and enjoyed visiting with them and their children. His interests were livestock, hunting, fishing and spending time with family.

Memorials are suggested to the kidney dialysis unit at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte with the Rev. David Lux officiating. A military service will be at 2 p.m. MDT Wednesday at the Community Hall in Cody with the Rev. Brian Fong officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery at Cody.

Alta R. Kirts
SUTHERLAND - Alta Rosina Kirts, 90, of Sutherland died at IHS in Sutherland.

She was born Sept. 8, 1910, to Charlse and Alta Rosina Kohl Shindle at Eddyville. She grew up in various places including Oshkosh and Lisco. She worked for families as a live-in, taking care of children.

On March 1, 1929, she married Leonard F. Kirts at Oshkosh. The lived in Bronson and in 1948, they moved to Sutherland. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 12, 1975.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Sarah Rebekah Lodge 10. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and fishing. She also made beautiful quilts.

Survivors include two daughters, Alta Marie (Reid) Bench of Roosevelt, Utah, and Patricia Johnson of Sutherland; two sons, Lyle (Patricia) of Burton, Texas, and Roland of Sutherland; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kirts was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Kirts April 8, 1993; a grandson, Devere Bench; two sisters; and six brothers.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Sutherland with the Rev. Harold Laursen officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery at Sutherland.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.

Lois Faye Loveland
SALEM, Ore. - Lois Faye Feddes Loveland, 52, of Salem, Ore., formerly of North Platte, died July 19, 2001, in Salem, Ore.

She was born Dec. 13, 1948, at Bozeman, Mont., the youngest of six children born to Henry and Bertina Feddes. She graduated from Belgrade High School in 1966. She moved to North Platte with her two children in 1978, and married Carl Loveland there in 1982. They then moved to Ontario, Ore., in 1984, and later on the Salem in 1992.

She was involved in sales with the Kirby Company for 25 years.

She enjoyed her work and her customers very much.

Mrs. Loveland liked fishing, collecting giraffes and spending quality time with her family, especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Troy (Kristina) Donahue of Salem; a daughter, Jill (Jay) Burris of Salem; her mother; four brothers, Jack of Great Falls, Mont., Robert of Leesburg, Va., and Leon and Bruce of Townsend, Mont.; a sister, Thelma Manley of Bozeman; two grandchildren, Justin and Jenny; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1980.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or the Willamette Valley Humane Society in Salem, Ore.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dokken-Nelson's Sunset Chapel in Bozeman, Mont. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Belgrade.

Darmon T. Montey
LEXINGTON - Darmon T. Montey of Lexington died July 21, 2001, at his home. He was 79.

He was born Feb. 20, 1922, at Campbell to Frank and Nellie E. Stethem Montey. He attended school in the Inavale community.

He then worked on various farms and for the Hasting Munitions Plant during World War II.

On June 3, 1946, he married Eileen Maxon at Smith Center, Kan. After their marriage they lived at Riverton. They later moved to Dawson County where he was a 45 year resident. He farmed for Wayne Smith north of Cozad and Bill Rice northeast of Lexington prior to his employment as a farmer and cattle feeder for Kugler Cattle Company.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lexington. He enjoyed watching his children's ball games and wrestling matches. He also enjoyed gardening and lawn work.

Mr. Montey is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Eileen Cochrane of Lexington; five sons, Douglas Norman (Linda) of Aiea, Hawaii; Jerry Dean (Anna) of McCook, Terry Wayne (Bobbi) of Lexington and Bruce Dale (Verla) and David Glen, all of Cozad; three sisters, Hazel Colby of Inavale, Ruby Walker of Hastings and LaVonne Bothwell of Pueblo, Colo.; a brother, Vernon "Buss" Montey of Inavale; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bess and Darlene; and two brothers, Clarence and Keith.

Memorials are suggested to the Tri-County Hospice.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Todd C. Karges officiating. The body will be cremated. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Ruby A. Smith
ALLIANCE - Ruby A. Smith, 82, of Alliance, mother of Henry E. Russell Jr. of North Platte, died July 20, 2001, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

She was born April 5, 1919, in Akron, Colo., to Edward F. and Lula Wright House. She received her education in Akron.

On Sept. 17, 1934, she married Bob Higgins and in 1944, she married Henry E. Russell Sr. On June 21, 1952, she married Orval Smith in Mullen. They lived in Mitchell from 1974 to 2000. She cooked on various ranches throughout the Sandhills. On May 17, 2000, she moved to Crossroads Assisted Living in Alliance where she lived until June 7, 2001.

She enjoyed visiting and meeting new people, spending time with her family and spending time at Whitman's Women's Club and the Extension Club.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Delores H. "Dee" (Chet) Hampton of Mitchell; three sons, Clifford G. (Nedra) Higgins of Alliance, Robert L. (Phyllis) of Guernsey, Wyo., and Henry E. (Libbie) Russell Jr. of North Platte; two stepsons, Donald (Joan) and LeRoy "Pete" (LaDonna) Smith, all of Burwell; two brothers, Floyd G. House of Phoenix, Ariz., and Rollin G. House of Burwin, Ill.; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren; and a brother.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Scott Mathis officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time today at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Home.

Eleanore Stewart
BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Eleanore Stewart, a former Grainton resident, died July 13, 2001, at Broomfield, Colo. She was 82.

She was born Feb. 7, 1919, at Littleton, Colo., to Fred and Leone Snodgrass Bailey.

On March 2, 1940, she married Fred F. Stewart.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband of Broomfield; three daughters, Penny (Ray) Smith of San Diego, Linda Proper of Broomfield and Deborah (Marty) Martin of Livingston, Texas; two sons, Robert (Katherine) of San Diego and Kim (Connie) of North Platte; a sister, Miriah Gerber of Maine; a brother, Boyd Bailey of Colorado; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.

Memorials are suggested to any hospice.

Services were July 16, 2001. The body was cremated.

Rundas Funeral Home in Broomfield was in charge.
