Warren Yarbrough I, 86
DALLAS, Texas - Warren Maurice "Biff" Yarbrough I, 86, died March 4, 2007, at Methodist Hospital Dallas in the arms of his family, attended by angels and the kind and caring CCU staff.

He was born May 31, 1920, at Alliance, to Robert Lee Yarbrough I and Estella Basye Yarbrough.

From a small, beautiful, railroad town in the Nebraska panhandle to Omaha, Nashville, and then Dallas, and everywhere between and beyond, Biff led a full and interesting life more suited for presentation in a mini-series than an obituary.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Jeter & Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at The Oaks Fellowship, 4400 S. R.L. Thornton Fwy., Dallas, with Pastor Tom Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Bates Gould Funeral Home, with a funeral mass at 10 a.m., Friday, March 9, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Alliance Cemetery, where he will lie in rest beside his beloved parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the charity of one's choice.

Thomas O. Dill, 53
Thomas Owen Dill (53) of Imperial, Nebraska, was called to Heaven February 24, 2007, in Lincoln, Nebraska, after a long illness.

Tom was born in Lincoln, November 20, 1953, to Tom and Eleanor (Jesse) Dill.

Tom graduated from Alliance High School in 1972. He received his B.S. (bachelor in Range Management/Wildlife Management) in 1980 and his M.S. in Range Management in 1983, both from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In 1991 he received his Ph.D. in Animal Science/Ruminate Nutrition from Oregon State University in Corvallis. Tom was the Extension Educator for Logan-McPherson and Cherry counties before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, for five and a half years.

In 1997, the family moved to Imperial Nebraska, where he was the Extension Educator for the counties of Chase, Dundy, Hitchcock and Hayes in southwestern Nebraska.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Imperian, Nebraska. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial.

Lila M. Lotspeich, 72
BINGHAM - Lila Mae Lotspeich, 72, passed away suddenly in an accident on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007.

She was born July 3, 1934 at Bayard, to Richard and Mildred (Butler) Walker. Lila attended school in the Bayard area.

On September 12, 1953, Lila was united in marriage to Monte Starke. To this union three boys were born, James, Edward and Lonnie Joe.

Lila and Monte lived at Taylor, at the start of their marriage and then moved to Bingham, where she resided the last 50 years of her life. Monte passed away in 1985.

In 1997, she was married to Howard Glen Lotspeich. Howard Glen passed away in 2002. After Monte's passing in 1985, Lila took over his mail route and loyally carried the mail for the past 22 years for the Ellsworth, Lakeside and Antioch communities.

She especially enjoyed her mail route, watching for wildlife, delivering mail to all the patrons, and giving treats and spreading love to the children on her route.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, at the Bingham Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Bingham Cemetery. Her family will greet friends and neighbors from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Lila's home at Bingham.

Memorials may be given to Victory Heights Bible Camp or the Women's Auxiliary of the Bingham Lutheran Church. Donations may be sent in care of the family to Lonnie Starke, 9794 Hwy 71, Hemingford, NE 69348.

Mildred Johns, 72
TULSA, Okla. - Mildred M. Johns, 72, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at Manor Care Nursing Home.

She was born May 31, 1916, at Hamburg, Iowa, to Joseph and Etta Marker.

She was married to Cecil Johns on May 5, 1934. Mildred was a long time resident of Alliance until the death of her husband, when she moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her children.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Alliance Cemetery, with Rev. Doug Griger officiating.

Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pearl Schance, 97
ALLIANCE - Pearl Anna Henrietta Schance, 97, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at Highland Park Care Center.

She was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Greeley County, to Gustave and Adleheid Winters.

She graduated from the Seward school district in 1929.

While working at the local bakery, Pearl met Gilbert (Shorty) Schance, Sr. They were married May 9, 1931, at Oxford, and lived at Oxford and in Seward County before moving to rural Hemingford where they farmed.

To this union were born Doris, Robert, William, Martha and Gilbert, Jr. For 12 years Pearl taught country school.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26 at St. John's United Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Buschbom officiating.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home. The family would prefer memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church, Prairie Haven Hospice or Highland Park Care Center.

Bernice I. Neal, 94
ALLIANCE - Bernice I. Neal, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

She was born March 5, 1912, in the Creighton Valley area near Melbeta, the daughter of William and Susanna (Zinsmaster) Johns, the ninth of eleven children.

Her father came to the Creighton Valley from Johnson County to farm the rich soil. Her mother died when she was sixteen and her father passed away six years later. Bernice stayed with an Aunt while attending high school at Gering.

There she met and married Alva "Buck" Neal. They were married Jan. 14, 1930.

Four children were born to this union. They made their home at Melbeta, where Buck was a partner in the Johns and Neal John Deere Dealership at Minatare. Buck died Sept. 28, 1970. Bernice continued living at Melbeta until 2000 when she moved to Crossroads at Alliance.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the Melbeta Methodist Church, with Pastor Juan Espinosa and Norma Jensen officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at Scottsbluff. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Jane D. Wineteer, 50
ALLIANCE - Jane Diane Wineteer, 50, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1956, at Alliance, to Owen C. and Pearl (Vogel) Johnson.

She graduated from Alliance High School in 1974 and Lincoln School of Commerce in 1976.

In 1977, Jane met Rick Wineteer of Chadron. On May 27, 1978, they were united in marriage. To this union three children were born. At the time of her death, Jane was employed at Sandhills Family Center where she formed many meaningful friendships.

She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Revs. Martin T. Schnare and Richard C. Mueller officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244 or donor's choice.

Beulah Bolinger, 88
ALLIANCE - Beulah E. Bolinger, 88, of Alliance, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at Good Samaritan Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Antioch to Jacob and Evalina (Moore) Schopf.

Beulah married Richard D. Bolinger on March 15, 1938, in Alliance.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Bates-Gould Chapel with Norma Jensen officiating.

Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials are to Good Samaritan Health Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
