Annette R. Ostrom
LEXINGTON - Annette R. Ostrom of Lexington died Aug. 21, 2001, at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was 64.

She was born March 17, 1937, at Gothenburg to George A. and Ruth Buterbaugh Mann. She grew up and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1955.

On Jan. 22, 1956, she married John H. Ostrom at the Baptist Church in Gothenburg. They moved to Lexington in 1961, and her husband was employed by the Dawson County Sheriff's Department. She stayed at home and cared for the children and then went to work for several places around Lexington including the Prossor Cattle Co., the Perkins Trucking Co. and McDonald's Clothing Store.

They opened the Bargain John's Antiques in 1968, where she was known nationwide for her knowledge of antiques. She enjoyed purchasing antiques for their shop and shopping for other antique buyers. She enjoyed the business and going to work with her family.

Mrs. Ostrom's interests were varied. She enjoyed her family, sewing, poems, antique quilts, dolls and had an artistic flair that showed in her business and her home as well. She attended Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Anne (Brian) Eilers of Lexington; two sons, Lars (Joni) and Leif (Nicki), both of Lexington; two sisters, Adaline (Layton) Schrabam of Hooper and Frances (Tim) McClellen of Brady; a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann (Loren) Grone of Arizona; four brothers, Donald (Iris) Mann of Gothenburg, Bob (Mary Ellen) and David (Jody) Mann, both of Jeffrey Lake and Dale (Patti) Mann of Hastings; and seven grandchildren, Carson and Chase Eilers and Andrew, Brittany, Rachel, Hannah and Brianna Ostrom, all of Lexington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bill.

Memorials are suggested to the Maranatha Bible Camp at Maxwell.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Berean Bible Church in Lexington with the Rev. John Shields officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Robert K. 'Bob' Benson
BRADY - Robert Keith "Bob" Benson, 73, of Brady died Aug. 23, 2001, at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

He was born Dec. 5, 1927, to George and Mable Hunt Benson at Arcadia. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945 at the age of 18.

On June 1, 1949, he married Dolores M. Petska. They made their home in the Ord area, where they farmed for several years. They moved to North Platte, where they farmed for 10 years, and later to Curtis where they farmed until 2000. She preceded him in death Jan. 2, 2000. He moved to Brady in 2000, where he lived until his death.

Mr. Bensen was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, watching the birds, working cattle, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed telling his children and grandchildren about his younger days.

Survivors include four daughters, Kathy (Dan) Pell of Brady, Pat (Jerome) Kramer of Stapleton, Lisa (Chad) Brown of Hershey and Tammi Benson of Curtis; a foster daughter-in-law, Debby Conroy of Kearney; four sons, David (Kathy) of Cambridge, Steve (Merna) of Culbertson, Tom (Liz) of Brady and Lee of Maxwell; a sister, Geneva (Paul) Petska of Hastings; a brother, Dallas of Butte, Mont.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill"; a great-grandson, Brandon Parker; a foster son, Mike Conroy; a sister, Rosenna Hall; and a brother, Norris.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Veterans' Memorial.

Christian Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Chapel.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. R. L. Piontkowski as Celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

A. Ernestine 'Teena' Cook
A. Ernestine "Teena" Cook, 73, a longtime resident of North Platte, died Aug. 22, 2001, at Linden Court.

She was born Jan. 20, 1928, to J. Bryan and Ogle M. Wheeler Broadbent at Gering. She was employed as an audit manager for Sears for 15 years and later was a personnel director for the city for 17 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Does and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Cook is survived by two daughters, Sharon Beacom of Omaha and Rhonda (David) McQuay of North Platte; a sister, Elaine (Francis) Hunter of Apple Valley, Minn.; two grandchildren, Kim Peterson and Jason Beacom; and a great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a sister; a grandson, Daniel Beacom; and a son-in-law, James Beacom.

Memorials are suggested to the local Alzheimer's association.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Adams & Swanson Chapel with the Rev. James Hawley officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.

Ramona 'Mona' B. Moore
Ramona "Mona" Beverly Moore, 66, of North Platte died Aug. 22, 2001, at the North Platte Care Center.

She was born Oct. 20, 1934, at Milford to Herman W. and Pearl Violet Kelsey Moore. After her birth, the family moved to Albion, where her father's family lived. A short time later they moved to North Platte, where her mother's family lived. She lived in North Platte for four years before moving to Oregon for a year. They then moved to Odessa for 13 years, living on a farm.

She move to Kearney, where she attended the Opportunity Center for the Handicapped for 14 years. She enjoyed all activities and the staff, plus many friends she associated with daily.

Miss Moore returned to North Platte to live with her sister and attended the Opportunity Center. She enjoyed the staff and friends she made. She lived at IHS in Sutherland before moving to the North Platte Care Center.

Survivors include two sisters, Gloria Alley of Commerce City, Colo., and Bonnie Anderson of North Platte, a brother Jerry (Carol) Moore of North Platte; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth and Herman Moore Jr.

Memorials are suggested to the North Platte Opportunity Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the North Platte Cemetery with the Bishop Bruce Williams of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officiating.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. today at Odean Colonial Chapel.

Mildred Martha Rogers
OVERTON - Mildred Martha Rogers, 90, of Overton died Aug. 23, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born Feb. 29, 1911, at Oxford to Benjamin Paul and Jessie Maude Adams Eliker.

On April 2, 1930, she married George Robert Rogers at Norton, Kan. They farmed in the Overton area until 1953, when they moved to town.

She enjoyed her family and the children. She liked to fish, cook, garden, bake and can.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by two daughters, Mildred Hollibaugh of Eddyville and Sandra Barnett of Wellfleet; a son, Charles of Wichita, Kan.; two brothers, William H. "Pete" Eliker of Lexington and James A. Eliker of Overton; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Pauline J., in 1988; a son George in 1942; a son-in-law, Dean Hollibaugh in 1996; a grandson, Duane Hollibaugh in 1958; a great-grandson, Terry A. Hollibaugh in 1999; and her parents;

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the Overton Fire Department.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Overton Methodist Church with the Rev. Cathy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Overton Funeral Home in Overton.

Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge.

Barton L. Kline II
LEXINGTON - Barton L. Kline II of Lexington died Aug. 23, 2001, at his home east of Lexington. He was 77.

He was born Sept. 3, 1923, at Alliance to Barton and Beth D. Eaton Kline.

Mr. Kline attended school in Bridgeport, where his father was superintendent of schools. Later, the family moved to Gothenburg, where he graduated from high school in 1941. He went on to attend college at Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa.

In March 1943, he joined the U.S. Army. He served until World War II was over. It was during this time he married Marian Nisley Aug. 15, 1943.

Following his discharge from the service, he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1950. He was a teacher and coach in Holdrege for two years, then moved his family to Lexington in 1951 to begin farming. He farmed until 1967, when he returned to teaching at Lexington Junior High. Upon retiring in 1987, he helped his son, Kurt, on the farm and enjoyed traveling and gardening.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lexington, a past member of the Lexington Rotary, a member of the Three Coin Club, Dawson County Historical Society and the Lexington Community Concert Association.

His interests were varied from his love for music and family, to Nebraska football, gardening and Elderhostels.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christin (Rick) Roffers of Waverly and Gretchen (Bob) Bricker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sons, Barton III (Linda) of Boise, Idaho, Scott (Diana) of Salt Lake City, Todd (Ruth) of Hastings and Kurt of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Bart, Faith and Ben Kline, all of Boise, Scott, Burke and Brynn Kline, all of Hastings, T.J. Roffers of Lincoln and Paige and Kurt Bricker of Colorado Springs; two stepgrandchildren, Shelby Robinson of Lincoln and Char Robinson of Florida; and a great-grandson, Maxwell Kline of Boise.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Reynolds Love Chapel in Lexington.

Nadine Ruth Armagost
STERLING, Colo. - Nadine Ruth Armagost, 72, of Sterling, Colo., died Aug. 22, 2001, at Sterling.

She was born March 8, 1929, in Sutton to Alvin and Hermina Griess Zimbelman. When she was 6 years old, the family moved to Lexington, then later to Cozad, where she was the first in her family to graduate from high school.

Following high school, she moved to California where she was a nanny for a doctor for nearly a year. She then returned to Cozad, where she married Dorrance Armagost on Jan. 27, 1952. The couple then moved to Sterling where she was a telephone operator until the Sterling phone office closed. In 1980, she attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and graduated from the cosmetology program. She then worked for the Boutique of Beauty and was employed there until her death.

Mrs. Armagost was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and served in many church offices. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, crafts, shopping for antiques and traveling to visit her grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Kim (Ron) Schmidt of Ogallala, Stacey (Scott) Johnson of Littleton, Colo., and Lori Armagost of Santa Fe, N.M.; a son, Kerry (Gena) of Sterling; three sisters, Virginia Poole of Seal Beach, Calif., Norma Hart of El Toro, Calif., and Marilyn (Fred) Mackey of Idaho City, Idaho; two brothers, Allen (Kathy) Zimbelman of Nampa, Idaho, and Dennis (Judy) Zimbelman of Cozad; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Mitch; her parents; a sister, Dorothy Bullock; and a brother, Larry.

Memorials are suggested to the Nadine Armagost Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.

The body was cremated.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling with the Rev. Gene Zeller officiating.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Tennant Funeral Home in Sterling.
