Kenneth Airhood
TORRINGTON, Wyo. — Funeral services for Kenneth Airhood, age 84, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Liesman officiating. Private family burial will be in Lusk, Wyo. Mr. Airhood died on Oct. 18, 2002 at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyo. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home on Monday from 4-6pm. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions in his memory to the Torrington Diversified Services Program.
He was born on Nov. 19, 1917 in Alliance, the son of Charles and Mollie (Hughes) Airhood. He grew up in Lusk, Wyo. and moved to Torrington, Wyo. in 1976 where he has resided ever since. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Torrington and of the VIP Sunday school class.
He is survived by his two sisters, Norma Rae Craig of Tyler, Texas and Helen Blackmore of Garland, Texas and one brother, Bill Stigile of Hazelton, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Conrad “Blackie” Harimon
SCOTTSBLUFF — Conrad “Blackie” Harimon, 75, of Scottsbluff, passed away Oct. 16, 2002 at Regional West Medical Center after a short but courageous battle with a brain tumor. A “Life Celebration” will be held at Central Church of Christ in Gering on Tuesday Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul Hebbert officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel, Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to Gering Zion Church or the Scottsbluff Rural Fire Department.
Blackie was born March 30, 1927 in Minatare to Mollie and Conrad Harimon. He was raised on a farm in the Bayard area with his brother Sash (Alex) and his parents. In December of 1946 he married Esther Steinbrecker and they lived their entire married life in the Scottsbluff area. Of this union two daughters, Connie and Jean Anne, were born. Blackie was a well-known farm equipment dealer, and during his life was employed by Brubecker Equipment Co., Frank Implement Co., American Road Equipment and Hesston Corporation. Upon his retirement he started his own equipment business, CH Sales.
In the late 40’s and early 50’s Blackie was an avid stock car driver and was instrumental in the development of the racetrack at the Scottsbluff Airport. Although he raced several different stock cars, his number was always 27 and he was proud of his many trophies. After retiring from racing he turned his attention to horses and was an active member of the Panhandle Saddle Club. He helped form a Cowboy Polo team and enjoyed competing and playing tournaments with other teams from surrounding states. Blackie was also an avid buckle and toy collector.
After 40 years of marriage, and Esther’s death in 1986, Blackie married Shirley Grasmick of Gering. She was his loving wife and best friend until the end. Blackie and Shirley would have enjoyed their 15th anniversary on Nov. 28.
Blackie loved life. He will be fondly remembered, and forever missed by his wife Shirley, his daughter Connie Sue Wiedeman of Clear Lake Shores, Texas and her son Christian Edward Wiedeman of Gering, his daughter Jean Anne Allen and her husband Michael of Clear Lake Shores, Texas; his stepdaughters, Candace Lord of Redondo Beach, Calif., Tammy Knotts, her husband Kelly of Minatare, and their children Amber Potts and her husband, Josh of Cheyenne, Wyo., son Chad and Mia and their son Caymon of Scottsbluff; stepson Steve Grasmick, his wife Lori and their children Jessica and Tyler of Gering, his “brother” George Harimon of Morrill, his morning coffee buddies and many, many friends everywhere.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother “Sash”, and beloved wife Esther.
Adam Sauer
MITCHELL — Funeral services for Adam Sauer, 85, of Mitchell, who died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at his home, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering with Pastors Arlie Schenbeck and Floyd Sauer officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice, Northfield Assembly of God Church or to Chuck Wagon Ministries. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel from 9 a.m-6 p.m. Saturday, from 1- 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday.
Adam was born September 4, 1917 in Scottsbluff to Balzar and Barbara (Kniss) Sauer. He received his education in Scotts Bluff County. He married Dorothy Batchelor June 29, 1940 in Harrisburg. Adam lived on the same farm for over 70 years.
He was a member of Northfield Assembly of God Church, he taught Sunday School for many years and was a past board member of First Assembly of God Church and the Foursquare Church in Scottsbluff. He enjoyed building farm machinery.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; daughter Linda Sokol of Downs, Ill.; sons, Richard and his wife Janie Sauer of Mitchell and Steven Sauer of Mitchell; 13 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
His parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Harley Thorn
GERING — Harley Thorn, 74, Gering, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at Regional West Medical Center. Services are pending at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff.
Margaret Elizabeth Woodard
MINATARE — Margaret Elizabeth Woodard, 86, of Minatare, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002 at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Wade Wadsworth officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. She was born Oct. 5, 1916 in Lyons County, Kans. to Elmer and Elizabeth (Williams) Adams. She graduated high school in Americus, Kans. and she furthered her education in Emporia, Kans. She taught school until she moved to Wichita, Kans. and began employment with an airplane factory until the end of WWII. She married John Woodard June 6, 1942 in Fort Logan, Colo. and to this union one son was born.
She is survived by her husband, John of Minatare; son, Jon Woodard of Minatare; and granddaughter, Amy Lyn Woodard of Boulder, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Michael J. Beal
ALLIANCE — Michael J. Beal, formerly of Alliance, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at St. Frances Hospital in Topeka, Kan. He was 62.
He was born Aug. 17, 1940, in Alliance to Cecil and Agnes (Newberry) Beal. He graduated from St. Agnes Academy and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. On Sept. 30, 1967, he was united in marriage to Frances A. McDowell at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance. He worked as a service man for Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company while living in Alliance. They moved to Lincoln in 1994 and to Topeka in 1996.
His survivors include his wife, Frances; children, Tina M. Beal of Lincoln, Jeffrey M. Beal of Topeka, Tammy L. Beal of Topeka, Cynthia A. Beal of Alliance; grandchildren, Anthony, Louis and Ethan; sister Margaret and husband Art McCarty of Omaha; brother Duane and wife Connie Beal of Alliance; sister Nancy Beal of Alliance, his twin sister Molly and husband Willy Rieck of Colorado Springs, Colo., sister Dorothy and husband Richard Stull of Bridgeport. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dr. Edward McNulty.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. A wake service will be Friday, January 31 at 7 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church. Memorials may be given to Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School, 1750 Stone, Topeka, Kan. 66604.

BRIDGEPORT — Wayne Bright, 77, of Bridgeport, died Thursday, Jan. 30 at Morrill County Community Hospital.

Emma H. Dybdahl, 93, of Gering, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff.
Joshua Aaron Engelhaupt
Joshua Aaron Engelhaupt, infant son of Beth (Engelhaupt) Meyer became an angel on Jan. 29, 2003, at Regional West Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Father Gerald Harr officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Joshua Aaron Engelhaupt’s name. Friends may call the Gering Memorial Chapel Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Joshua touched our hearts and had given hope where there wasn’t any. He was very much loved and will be sadly missed.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Beth Meyer; brother, Seth Engelhaupt; and sister, Kaylaigh Meyer, all of Gering; maternal grandmother, Susan Engelhaupt of Scottsbluff; maternal grandfather, Gary and wife Marge Engelhaupt of Gering; uncles, Aaron Engelhaupt, Drew Engelhaupt and Evan Engelhaupt all of Gering and Craig Engelhaupt of Lincoln; father, who resides in Lincoln, and paternal grandparents, aunt and uncles all of Gering.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great grandparents.
George Schlager Jr.
George Schlager, Jr., 73 of Scottsbluff died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Doug Jones officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff today from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and an hour before the service at the church. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice or to Zion Evangelical Church.
He was born Oct. 31, 1929, to George, Sr. and Bertha (Yekel) Schlager. He received his education in Gering and farmed in Gering with his father until 1956. He married Helen Schledewitz on Jan. 16, 1949 in Scottsbluff and they made their home in Gering and later in Scottsbluff. He farmed in Scottsbluff until 1962, when he and his family moved to Torrington. He managed Farmers Equipment in Torrington until he and his family moved back to Scottsbluff. In 1965, he became a partner with Dill Implement in Scottsbluff retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed hunting, collecting different items, his coffee buddies and his family especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Scottsbluff; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharol and Emanuel Frank of Scottsbluff; Georgetta and Gene Weimer of Scottsbluff; daughter, Brenda Baxter of Sutherland; brother, Reuben Schlager of Scottsbluff; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Schlager of Minatare; Albert and Helen Schlager of Denver; grandchildren, Jon Frank, Lori Frank, Shawna Frank, Aubrey Weimer, James Weimer, Zachary Hrasky, Andrew Hrasky, Ian Hrasky, Logan Baxter and Haley Baxter; great-grandchildren, Brooklin Lockwood, Dillon Hrasky and Adam Hrasky; numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
His parents, sister, Norma Ferguson and brother, Irvin Schlager preceded him in death.
Ida Floriene (Hensley) Swanbom
Floriene Swanbom, 78 of Gering, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at her home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 1650 9th Street, Gering, with The Very Reverend Gary R. Young officiating. Her remains were cremated and inurnment will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Floriene was born on Nov. 29, 1924 in Little River, Kan., to Pearl Mae Forney Hensley and John Morris Hensley, Sr. She grew up in Kansas and eastern Nebraska as one of nine children. After graduating from Norfolk High School in 1942, she worked in Omaha, at the Glen Al Martin bomber Plant during World War II. She was accepted into the United States Cadet Nurse Corps and attended Bishop Clarkson Nursing School from 1944-1947. She was a registered nurse in Kansas City, Kansas at Bethany Hospital from 1947-1948, the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska from, 1948-1952, and at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff from 1980-1992.
Floriene married Carol D. Swanbom on Nov. 24, 1949, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln. After Carol finished dental school at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, they moved to Scottsbluff in June 1952. In 1953, they moved to Gering, where they raised their six children. She was an active volunteer in the school, sports, and music programs in which her children participated. She served at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church as a Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, member of the Altar Guild and Vestry, and the Nearly New Shop. Floriene was a member of the PEO Chapter EV.
Floriene enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She touched their lives by telephone, letters, and attending many sporting events, musicals, school programs, and dance and piano recitals. She enjoyed gardening, especially the roses and geraniums. She served as a mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Survivors include her husband, Carol D. Swanbom of Gering; Mary and Jim Troxell, Katie and Brad, of Fort Collins, Colo.; Donn and Becky Swanbom, Caitlin and Anders, of Bailey, Colo.; Janice and Bob Heasty, Julie and Jason Zitterkopf, of Gering; Janet and Stewart Jobes, Maggie and Brook, of Grand Island; Lee and Dawn Swanbom, Hannah and Lief, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and Jon Swanbom of Gering; three sisters Gladys Pearl Collins of Emporia, Kan., Phyneal Lee "Lois" Smutney of Madison, and Dorothy Mae Novotny of Oakland. and two brothers Harry Robert Hensley of Bettendorf, Iowa and John Morris Hensley, Jr. of Grover, Mo.
Floriene was preceded in death by infant son, Deryl Mont; her parents; two sisters, Florence Karsa Haining and Shirley Imogene Kucera and one brother, Madison Morris "Mike" Hensley.
Ida Garcia
Ida Garcia, 90, of Gering, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Fr. Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A prayer vigil will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Feb 20. A memorial has been established to Christ the King Catholic Church.
Ida was born May 28, 1912 in Raton, N.M. to Fred and Julia (Ramirez) Gutierrez. She received her education in Raton and moved to Scottsbluff with her parents in 1933. They worked in the farming community working beet, bean, and potato fields and also the packinghouse and potato cellar. She married Salvador Garcia Sept. 18, 1945 in Gering. They moved to Omaha in 1962 where they owned and operated Garcia’s Lounge and Restaurant for over 20 years. They retired in 1982, and moved to Virginia Beach, Va. in 1992. In 1994, they returned to Gering where she has resided since. She will always be remembered for her work ethic, sternways and discipline. Her favorite saying was, “lots of hard work, lots of hard times are long gone but not forgotten.”
She is survived by her special nephew, Mario Medina, of Lake Forest, Calif.; nephews and nieces who gave her love, comfort, companionship and care the last years of her life, Arthur and Yolanda Gonzales, Laura and Marvin Powell and Norma and Danny Guzman all of Scottsbluff, Mary Ellen and Raul Magdaleno, Gering; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Simon and Betty Garcia, Omaha, Alfred and Lillian Garcia, Virginia Beach, Va., Terbina (Garcia) Ybarra, Pueblo, Colo., Cartina Giron, Gering, and Norma Garcia, Norfolk, Va.; cousin, Frank Gutierrez, Lakewood, Colo.; and numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving pet “Moe”.
Her husband, parents and in-laws, Augustine and Juanita Garcia, Roy Garcia, Leo and Lucille Garcia, Aurora Gonzales and Catherine Olivares preceded her in death.
Herb Griess
DENVER — Herb Griess died Feb.14, 2003 at his home. His funeral service will be Wednesday, Feb.19 at Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, 2035 Ellis Street, Golden, Colo.
He is survived by his wife Norma; children, Julie (Dennis) Pinson and Scott Griess; grandchildren, Shannon, Kari, Crystal, Joseph, Angie and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Dana; six sisters; and three brothers.

Ella L. Mangels
SIDNEY — Ella L. Mangels, 92 of Beatrice and formerly of Sidney, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 in Beatrice. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Philip Found officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Cemetery north of Potter. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will be at the funeral home to receive guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Ella’s name to the Lutheran Hour or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Ella Louise Mangels, the daughter of Ernest and Clara (Pflughaupt) Baack, was born on May 23, 1910 at Staplehurst, Neb. Following graduation from Seward High School in 1928, Ella taught in Seward County. In 1930, she moved to Potter and taught in Kimball County. Following residency in Colorado from 1934 until 1947, Ella moved to Sidney. She worked at the Sioux Army Depot, the Sidney School Lunch Program and Rudy’s Grocery retiring in 1988 at the age of 78. Ella was a resident of Western Heritage before moving to Chappell in June of 2001 and then to Beatrice in January of 2002. Ella became a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sidney in 1947 before transferring her membership to Zion Lutheran in Chappell and then to St. Paul’s in Beatrice. She has been a member of LWML, Ladies Aid, Juliette Club and SSO. Ella loved to embroider, crochet and play cards.
Survivors include: sons, Hersey and wife Joan of Seymour, Ind., Jerry and wife Bette of DeWitt, Neb. and Ken and wife Carolyn of Orange, Calif.; sister, Hilda Bredehoft of Sterling, Colo., sisters-in-law, Olga Baack and Mary Ann Baack both of Sidney and Marcella Baack of Kimball; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her parents; sister, Helen Buhrdorf; three brothers, Art, Herb and Earl; and an infant son, Ronald, preceded Ella in death.
Carmello ‘Shorty’ Saucedo
MORRILL — Funeral Mass of Christian burial for Carmello “Shorty” Saucedo, age 85, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morrill with The Reverend Father Kevin Koch of Torrington officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. A Wake-Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening Feb. 19, in Morrill at St. Ann. Shorty died on Monday, February 17, 2003 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and then at St. Ann Catholic Church in Morrill from l p.m. through the Rosary. Those who wish may direct memorial contributions to the family.
Carmello was born on June 17, 1917 in Gonzales, Texas the son of Augustine and Alejandra Saucedo. He grew up there and received his education. On July 21, 1954 he married Mary Lou Valverde, the daughter of Rejino and Esther Valverde, in Laredo, Texas. The couple was married 47 years and had five children. They moved to Morrill in 1961, where they worked for various farmers and raised their family. Carmello worked for 18 years for Great Western Sugar Company and then he went to work for Jirdon Agri until his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to dance in his younger years and he was a kind, giving and gentle man. He spent a great deal of time amusing his grandchildren and he always stressed the importance of education. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a great ability to make friends and he always worked hard to provide for his family. Carmello had a strong faith and relationship with God and he shared that with his family. He was a member of the St. Ann Catholic Church in Morrill.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Morrill; his children, Maria and Manuel Flores and family of Torrington; John and Rosalba Saucedo and family of Guadalajara, Mexico; Alejandro Saucedo and Tina Rigsby and family of Morrill; David and Diane Ellis and family of Gering; Carlos and Lynette Saucedo and family of Torrington; and Mary Lopez of Bayard; 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services for Heather Ann Guerrero, 15, of Gering, who died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering with Pastor Arlie Schenbeck officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park where she was buried on her “Rock’s” birthday, Albert M. Guerrero. The Heather Guerrero Memorial Fund has been established.
Heather was born Feb. 8, 1988 in Scottsbluff, to Anthony and Irene (Eureste) Guerrero. She grew up and attended school in Gering where she was currently a ninth-grader. She participated in volleyball, was student manager for the basketball team, active in the CLOWNS drug free program and was a carrier for the Star-Herald since May of 2002. On June 22, 1997 she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and attended Northfield Assembly of God Church where she was active in Missionettes and the youth group.
She is survived by her parents, Anthony and Irene; sisters, Elise and Danielle, both of the home and brother, Marc of the home; grandparents, Albert M. and Terri Guerrero, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Frank and Candy Eureste, of Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Betty Helzer and Al Gomez, of Gering, Mary Jane and Jerry Novakowski, of Grand Island, JoAnn Eureste and Ed Orozco, of Scottsbluff, Peggy and Margarito Carrizales, of Mitchell, Angela and Gilbert Sanchez, of Mitchell, and Alberto “Andy” and Julia Guerrero, of Phoenix, Ariz.; several great aunts and uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Her maternal grandmother, Alice Eureste; great grandparents, Ralph and Jesse Ojeda, Ignacio and Lupe Guerrero and Jose Eureste preceded her in death.

Marilyn Mae Olsen
Marilyn Mae Olsen, 81, of Gering, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Beverly Health care in Scottsbluff. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 7, at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Victor McPeak officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Marilyn was born June 25, 1921, at Ogallala, to John and Laura (Boehmer) Frerichs. She grew up and received her education there and graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1939. She married Charles H. Olsen Sept. 30, 1942, at Los Angeles, Calif. The couple moved to Scottsbluff that same year, and Marilyn was employed as a cook at the Copper Kettle Restaurant in Terrytown. She then worked at Holland Bakery for many years, at the McLean Potato Cellar, and finally as a cook at Baily’s Café in Scottsbluff before retiring in 1993.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Ralph Beliel of Minatare, Linda Brewer of Brighton, Colo., Julia and Larry Pope of Gillette, Wyo., Connie and Chuck Wingert of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Laura and Joe Singleton of Banner County; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Harlana Olsen of Minatare and Douglas and Jan Olsen of Scottsbluff; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great- great granddaughter; brothers, Erwin Frerichs of Grant, and Howard Frerichs of Ogallala.
Her parents, her husband, a daughter Sharon, a granddaughter, Casie Singleton and brothers, Kenneth and Donald preceded her in death.
Richard Lynn ‘Dick’ Rengler
BAYARD — Richard Lynn "Dick" Rengler, 50, of Bayard, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at his home. His Funeral will be Monday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Bayard Church of Christ with Pastor Jason Hanselman officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery. Memorials to Dick’s children would be appreciated. Friends may call at the Church, Sunday, April 6 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday, April 7 from 9 a.m. until the funeral. Jolliffe Funeral Home at Bridgeport is in charge of the arrangements.
Dick was born Nov. 22, 1952 in Genoa, Neb., the son of Frederic and Darlene (Cunningham) Rengler. He was raised and educated in St. Edward, Lincoln, North Platte and Bridgeport. He graduated from Bridgeport High School. Dick then attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he played baseball. Dick worked for the Western Sugar Co. at Bayard and then transferred to Scottsbluff when the Bayard factory closed. He also participated in town team baseball in Bayard and Bridgeport.
Dick was a member of the Chimney Rock Golf Course at Bayard and was instrumental in establishing the Men’s Golf Association.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca Rengler, Steven Rengler and Lisa Rengler all of Bayard; grandchild, Elijah Elsasser of Bayard; parents, Frederic and Darlene Rengler of Port Aransas, Texas; brother, Larry Rengler of Gurley; and sisters, Diane Marzan and Kathy Malone both of Corpus Christi, Texas
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
