John C. Riggs
BRIDGEPORT — John C. Riggs, 60, of Bridgeport, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 due to injuries he received in an automobile accident in Haskell County, Kan. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Lydia Clark Schnoor
TORRINGTON — Memorial services will be held at a later date in Gillette, Wyo., for Lydia Clark Schnoor, 93, who died at Torrington Community Hospital on April 1, 2003. The Colyer Funeral Home was in charge of the cremation arrangements. A memorial has been established to the Land of Goshen Ministries in Torrington.

She was born July 24, 1910 on a ranch near New Haven, Wyo., the daughter of Curtis and Jessie (Wilson) Clark. She attended school in Spearfish, S.D., and Gillette, Wyo. In 1927, she married Paul Atkinson. The couple had three daughters and then were later divorced. She married Robert Boyle of Gillette and he passed away in 1961. She then married Hans Schnoor of Casper, Wyo., in 1976. They moved to Torrington after retiring from the ranch in 1994.

Hans preceded Lydia in death in 2001. A brother and two sisters also preceded her.

She is survived by sister, Helen Cates of Sheridan; daughters, Letha Bible and Glenna Madden of Lusk, Wyo., and Helen Brummell of Torrington; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Blanco
Robert Blanco, 50, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at Beverly Health Care Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral arrangements are pending at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff.

Larry Eugene Guth
DENVER — Larry Eugene Guth passed away April 7, 2003, in Denver, of cancer.

He was born April 19, 1944 in Scottsbluff to Eugene and Ethel (Warren) Guth. He attended Gering Schools and the University of Nebraska. He worked in Denver as a Parts manager for a trucking firm.

He is survived by sons, Eugene and Jesse, of Denver; sister, Betty and husband, Bill Severson of Cheyenne; and aunt, Hazel Warren of Gering.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Services will be Friday at Horan McConaty Funeral Home at 1091 S. Colo. Blvd in Denver.

Elnora Nickell
KIMBALL — Elnora B. Nickell, of Gering, died at her home on April 9, 2003. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball.

Dorothy Cecil Sexton
MULLEN — Dorothy Cecil Sexton, 92, of Mullen, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m. MDT at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Mullen. Interment is at Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mullen Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 22, 1910, in Blue Hill, to Mollie (Maire) and Julius Piel. She moved to Mullen when she was 11. She attended school and worked until she met and married Ray Henry Sexton Sr. on Oct. 8, 1926. They established the Sexton Truck Line in 1929, which they worked and ran together until retirement. Her biggest enjoyment in life was her family. She and Ray enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards and friends.

Survivors include sons, Ray H. (Gladys) Sexton, of Mullen, Clyde (Carol) Sexton, of Scottsbluff; daughters, Irene (Jerry) Seidler, of Alliance, Lola (Gary) Swanson, of Colon, and Shirley Sweet, of North Platte; 18 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray (1999), her parents, three brothers and two sisters, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law and one grandchild.

Wilma J. Ainsworth
TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Funeral services for Wilma J. Ainsworth, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church with Reverend Peggy Brown officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Viewing hours at the Colyer Funeral Home will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday. The casket will be closed at the service. A memorial has been established to the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Ainsworth died on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Sierra Vista, Ariz.

She was born September 12, 1906 in Worth County, Mo. the daughter of Dillard B. and Effie (Snoddy) Willhite. The family came to Goshen County in the early 1920s to a homestead near Yoder, Wyo. They later moved to Torrington where they started the O.P. Skaggs grocery store. Wilma took normal training at Torrington High School and graduated in 1924. She taught school in Goshen County. On May 24, 1929 she married Willard Ainsworth at Gering. They lived on the Willhite homestead and later moved to Gooding, Idaho. They returned to Wyoming and farmed near Wheatland and then in 1953 they moved to their farm near Yoder. In 1976 they retired and moved to Torrington. Willard preceded her in death in 1989 and in 1998 Wilma moved to Sierra Vista to be near her son, Jack.

Wilma was affiliated with the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church where she was a member of Presbyterian Women and study groups. She had been active in the Sunshine Extension Club at Yoder and she was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star at Torrington.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Lynn Ainsworth of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; a brother, Clark Willhite of Torrington; a sister-in-law, Lucille Willhite of Torrington, three grandchildren, Sharon Flores of Sierra Vista, David Ainsworth of Newark, Md. and Marilyn Wood of Aiea, Hawaii; and two great-grandchildren, Jaclyn Richardson of Sierra Vista and David Ainsworth of Germany.

In addition to her husband, Willard, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Kidney and a brother, Neal Willhite.

The Colyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Klemke
HEMINGFORD — Mabel Klemke, 93, long time resident of Hemingford, died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will he held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hemingford. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. A wake service will be held at St Bridget Catholic Church as 7 p.m. on Monday. A memorial has been established to the Hemingford Rescue Unit. Bates-Gould Funeral Home at Alliance is in charge of arrangements.

She was born January 25, 1910 in rural Box Butte County to Agnes Hollinrake Romer and Joseph Romer. After graduating from St. Agnes Academy in Alliance, Neb. in 1928, she attended business school in Grand Island. She taught school in rural Box Butte County until her marriage to Albert Klemke on August 27, 1930 in Hemingford. They lived and worked on the Klemke family homestead southwest of Hemingford, until their retirement in 1973, when they moved to Hemingford.

She is survived by sons Robert and wife Addie of Alaska; Gerald of Oshkosh, Neb.; Ronald and wife Lynne of Oshkosh, Neb.; Albert and wife Joyce of Hemingford, Neb.; daughters, Claudia Braden and husband Mel of York, Neb.; Carolyn Burke of Grand Junction, Colo.; and Sylvia Klemke of Charlotte, N. C. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, son Melvin, and husband Albert.

Esther N. Raile
Esther N. Raile, 93, of Gering, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering. Her funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 2, 2003, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, with Pastors Nick and Leslie Striegel officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. C.S.T., Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at the St. Francis Cemetery in St. Francis, Kansas, with Pastor David Rossbach officiating. Memorials in her name may be made to the Calvary Lutheran Quilters.

Friends who wish may call Sunday from 1 until 8 p.m. at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff and on Monday at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Esther was born October 26, 1909, in Cheyenne County, Kansas, to Carl and Rosalie (Stednitz) Neitzel. She grew up and received her education in the St. Francis, Kansas schools and graduated high school there. Following her graduation, she taught in country schools surrounding St. Francis. She then enrolled in the Mary Lanning Hospital Nurses Training program in Hastings, Nebraska, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She then returned to St. Francis and worked as a registered nurse there for Dr. Walz for many years. She married Ernest Raile in April of 1938 in Cheyenne County, Kansas. In 1964, she returned to Hastings and worked there as a nurse for the Hastings Regional Center until her retirement in 1974. She stayed in Hastings until 1990, when she moved to Scottsbluff, where she lived until moving to Northfield Villa in Gering in 2000.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff.

She is survived by sons and daughters in law, Larry K. and Yon Raile of Denver, Colo. and Keith E. and Shirley Raile of Surprise, Ariz.; daughter Judith R. Walker of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Sherrie Chase, Larry Raile, Jr., Gary Michael Raile, Greg Raile, Julie Richard, Lowell Fleenor and Lansen Fleenor; and 18 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents and 12 brothers and sisters.

Thomas W. Simpson
Memorial services for Thomas W. Simpson, 77, of Scottsbluff, who died Friday, May 30, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice.

Tom was born June 6, 1925 in El Paso, Tex. to Gerald T. and Cecil M. (Huddleston) Simpson. He attended elementary and high school in El Paso. He joined the U. S. Navy on June 3, 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Esther Schlegel on January 24, 1947 in Cheyenne, Wyo. Esther passed away on October 13, 1993. He married Lenor Larson January 16, 1998 in Scottsbluff.

He was employed by, Gray’s Tin Shop for 21 years as well as other shops in Scottsbluff and Gering. He was a member of the Scottsbluff Volunteer Fire Department, Admiral Dewey Post #1681 VFW and was Past Exalted Ruler of Scottsbluff Lodge #1367 BPOE.

Survivors include: his wife Lenor; son and daughter-in-law: Mike and Sally Simpson of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter and son-in-law: Sue and Dirk Gosnell of Dix, Neb.; grandson: Andrew Gosnell of Dix, Neb.; and stepdaughter and her husband Sherry and Tom Taylor of Scottsbluff.

His mother, step father and a brother also preceded him in death.

Roberta “Bobbie” Ruth Ekelin
MITCHELL — Roberta “Bobbie” Ruth (Clure) Ekelin, 75, of the Sunflower Community of rural Mitchell, died Friday evening, June 6, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. Her funeral will be Wednesday, June 11 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at Scottsbluff with the Reverend Nancy Tomlinson officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery. Memorials have been established in Roberta’s name to the First United Methodist Church or the ICU/ER units at Regional West Medical Center. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, Tuesday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 to 8 p.m., at which time the family will be present.
Roberta was born March 17, 1928, in Bayard, the daughter of Samuel Leroy and Dorothy Jane (Soady) Clure. As a small child, her family moved to Wiota, Iowa, and then later to Rock Island, Ill., where she graduated with the Class of 1946 from Rock Island High School. She was secretary to the president of Bear Manufacturing at Rock Island. Bobbie was united in marriage to First Lieutenant Robert O. Ekelin, USAF, Jan. 9, 1952 at Rock Island. During her marriage she traveled extensively in Europe and the United States. She gave birth to four children and was a dedicated wife and mother. She moved with her family to the Panhandle in 1968. She became a proud grandmother to Jacob Robert Beals at the age of 69. She was an avid gardener, loved walking, traveling, enjoying her friends and being involved in volunteer work.
Bobbie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the following Church organizations: UMW, The Builder Sunday School Class, Sewing Circle, Caring Circle and Visitation Team. She was also a lifetime of the VFW auxiliary and Past President and Secretary of Chapman-Whipple Ladies Auxiliary Post #7532, a member of the Admiral Dewey VFW Post 1681 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the North Platte Valley Museum Society. She was selected for the Dedicated Light Honor for 2003 by the First United Methodist Women, which will be awarded posthumously in September of 2003.
She is survived by her daughters, Annette Garcia and her husband Ramone of Raymond, Calif., Diane Beals and her husband Dennis of Centennial, Colo., and Katharine Ekelin of rural Mitchell; very special grandson, Jacob Robert Beals of Centennial; brother John Clure of St. George, Utah; sister Gladys Carlson and her husband Bert of Rock Island, Ill.; and nieces, Jane Vandersnick, Julie Romero, Laura Kimball and Denise Hampton. Bobbie will be missed by her family, her many friends, cats and wild birds.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert, Nov. 5, 1991; infant daughter; and brother Frank Clure.

Robert James Hascall
Robert James Hascall, 78, of Gering, died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Central Church of Christ in Gering with Pastor Victor McPeak officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Gering American Legion Post #36. There will be no visitation. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation, at his request. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ, Northfield Villa or Banner County History Museum.
Bob was born on July 16, 1924 in Cheyenne, Wyo., to Fred and Alice (Brown) Hascall. He grew up in Banner County and graduated from Banner County High School in 1942. He married Loretta McKee in Junction City, Kan., on Oct. 24, 1945. Bob served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army 1945-47. He sold cars and trucks and was district manager for Diamond T and Diamond Reo Trucks in Scottsbluff and Mack Trucks in Minnesota before returning to Nebraska to retire.
Bob was a member of the church, Masons, Elks and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Loretta; daughters, Pat (Peter) Stolberg of Sarasota, Fla., and Judy (Bob) Tupper of Columbus; granddaughter Sarah Sears, grandsons, Joshua Stolberg, Jason Stolberg, Zachary Tupper and Zane Tupper; and great-grandson Asher Stolberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dan.

Reverend James E. Olsen
LOVELAND, Colo. — The Reverend James E. Olsen, 87, passed away June 8, 2003 in Loveland. The funeral will be at Zion Lutheran Church in Loveland at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12.
Rev. Olsen was the Pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff for 12 years, from 1970 to 1982.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verna; and daughter Linda.

Shirley Petersen
KIMBALL — Shirley Kay Petersen, 66 of Dix died at her home on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday June 11, at the First English Lutheran Church. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiate. Burial will be in the Dix Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First English Lutheran Church or the Dix CIA. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born in Hebron on July 15, 1936 to Fred Roy and Emma Katherine (Dirks) Beanblossom. She attended school at Carleton High School, where she graduated in 1953, she then moved to Potter and worked for the Potter State Bank, the Potter Sundry, as well as the Co-op Elevators in Potter, Dix, and Kimball. She also worked for the ASCS office in Kimball, retiring in 1993. She and Dennis Petersen were married on Oct. 8, 1976 in Sidney. They lived in Potter and Dix moving to Dix in 1984. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the WELCA of First English and the Dix Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughters, Deb and husband Don Forbes of Sterling, Colo. and Cindy and husband Lee Stewart of Sidney; sisters, Loretta Maxine McKay of Lincoln, Doris Lucille Skinner of Hastings, and Waunetta May Weichel of Fairbury; brother Fred Leroy Beanblossom of Doniphan; grandchildren, Sarina Holly Usher and her fiancé Mike McNally, and Jessica Lee Stewart all of Sidney, Matthew David Thies and B.J. Forbes both of Sterling; and one great grandchild, Austin Lee Usher of Sidney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Ida Lodema Busch and Roma Fay Leggett.

Father John Dennett
Father John Dennett, 86, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Regional West Medical Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 10, at Christ The King Catholic Church in Gering with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. A Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 9, at Christ The King Catholic Church.
Friends may call at the Vigil on Thursday evening. Gering Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Sept. 27, 1917, in Highland Park, Ill., to Charles and Margaret (McDonald) Dennett. He was a 1939 graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., with a degree in accounting. He served in the United States Army Air Corps, 1942-1946.
Following his military service he spent time working at the St. Augustine Indian Mission in Winnebago. His seminary training was received at the Blue Cloud Benedictine Abbey in South Dakota and at St. Thomas Seminary in Denver. He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop John L. Paschang in St. Mary’s Cathedral at Grand Island, May 26, 1962.
Father Dennett served as chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital in North Platte and as assistant Pastor in Greeley, Long Pine and Holy Rosary parish in Alliance. He then served as pastor in Harrison, Montrose, Bayard, Minatare, Stapleton and Arnold.
Upon his retirement in 1979, he lived in Harrison, Arizona and Lusk, Wyo. In 1999, he moved to Beverly Healthcare in Scottsbluff.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Gallagher of Highland Park, Ill., and his brother Edward of Trenton, Fla.

Linda Flores
Linda Flores, 47, of Scottsbluff, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Scottsbluff. Funeral arrangements are pending at Jolliffe Funeral Home.

Donald Elmer Kleinkauf
LINCOLN — Donald Elmer Kleinkauf, 73, of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2003. Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 3 p.m., Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 3825 Wildbriar Lane, Lincoln, with Pastor Clint K. Poppe officiating. Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 1 p.m., Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, with Pastor Fredrick Simon officiating.
Visitation will be held until noon Wednesday, at Roper & Sons, 4300 O Street in Lincoln; and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1400 East D Street, North Platte, NE 69101.
Donald was born Aug. 31, 1930, in Grand Island to George Adam and Edna Grace (Treat) Kleinkauf. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grand Island and was confirmed there in 1942. He graduated with the Class of 1949 from Grand Island High School; served in the U.S. Air Force, 1952-1956, receiving the Air Medal Citation; and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1952 as Locomotive Fireman and was promoted to Locomotive Engineer in 1962, working until 1990.
He married Dorette Hoehne Littlejohn at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rapid City, S.D., on Aug. 20, 1960. After extensive travel, Don and Dorette retired in Mesa, Ariz. since the winter of 1990, and moved from North Platte to Lincoln in May 2003, where he was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
He was a past member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte, UTU #7PR Hilligan American Legion Post #163, Lutheran Layman’s League and an avid Big Red fan.
Donald was a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Dorette Kleinkauf of Lincoln; daughter and son-in-law, Loree and Victor Kirilloff of Lincoln, son and daughter-in-law, William C. “Chip” and Marcy Littlejohn III of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Victoria Kirilloff and Taylor and Jessica Littlejohn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Kent and Donna Kleinkauf of Prescott, Ariz., and Bruce and Lois Kleinkauf of Los Altos, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Reverend Bob Ehlers of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Baker, Jim McCabe, Ron Hartman, Jerry McCabe, Kim Kujuth, Doug Fisher and Dan Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary Razo
BOONE, Colo. — Mary Razo, 86, of Boone, was called to her rest on Sept. 30, 2003. She was born Sept. 17, 1917, to Isidoro and Elvira Sanchez in Minatare.
Services were held Oct. 3 at Sacred Heart Church in Avondale. Interment took place at Imperial Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Cirilo Razo. Mary was the beloved mother of 13 children, Annie (Jesse) Reyes, Josie Razo, Fred (Kathy) Razo, Pete (Cathy) Razo, Francisco (Sylvia) Razo, Cirilo (Kim) Razo Jr., all of Calif., Vikki (Ben) Trevino, Mary Ann (Melvin) Shockley, Vera (Martin) Linz and Sally (Elzir) Linz, all of Nebraska, and Frank (Vera) Razo, Art (Patsy) Razo and Abel Razo, all of Colorado; 30 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Ysac, Francis Rodriguez, Angela Quijas and Josephine Leon; and brother Angel Sanchez.
This giving woman of faith was loved and will be missed by all.
