Linda Jo (Jay) Cooper
09/21/1952 - Tuesday, August 08, 2006

Linda Jo Jay Cooper, 53, journeyed to Heaven, Tuesday, August 8, 2006 form the Regional West Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel. At her request, she was cremated.
Linda was born September 21, 1952 at Scottsbluff, NE. to Bob and Patsy Jay. She grew up and attended Scottsbluff Public Schools. Linda married Chester Lee Cooper in September 1972. Together, they opened and operated H & C Auto Sales and Service in Scottsbluff in 1974.
Linda loved her family above all things and she loved her friends equally as much. She enjoyed gardening and was fantastic landscaper, fishing, shopping and above all activities.. she loved Deadwood, Prairie Winds and going to the river boats when we visited family down in Lincoln. She is known in our family, to our friends and strangers alike, as Doctor Fix-It.
Linda is survived by her husband Chester, her mom Patsy, sisters Connie Sanford and Cheryl Jay; her children Lonny and fiancé’ Chris of Scottsbluff, Patricia Cooper of Rawlins, Wy, Kaye Cooper Saunders of Denver, CO., Elvis Cooper of Rawlins, WY., Sheila Cooper of New York City, Karen Cooper of Ft. Collins, CO.; nephews Troy D. Morris and wife Jolene of Phoenix, AZ and Robbie Jay and wife Shannon of Lincoln. Linda was known as grandma not only to Quinton and Devlyn Jay of Kansas but also to Teigen, Dakota, Shelby and Harley Morris of Phoenix, AZ, Kailey and Tailyn of Lincoln, NE. and to Kiana, Jaden, Alexis and Danielle of Scottsbluff.
Sisters-in-law Imilla Robinson, Leona Hornsby, Lee Willie Jefferson all of Texas and brothers-in-law David Rose of Mitchell, Jim Gompert of Scottsbluff, Willie Lee Lewis of Texas and Arnester Jones of Wyoming. Aunt Iileen Jay and Uncle Don Barr of Scottsbluff; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and special friends, John and Mary Ann Schmidt, Ron and Cindy Leisy, Edwin and Becky Martinez, Alvin and Jan Rahmig, Chuck and Vonnie Clampitt, Mr. & Mrs. Jason Rahmig, Amber Rahmig Ysac and many, many more.
Linda was preceded in death by her daddy Bob, brother-in-law Stan Sanford, best friend Becky Haney, grandparents John and Jennie Abbott and Dane and Mabel Jay, mother-in-law Rose Lee Lewis, father-in-law Frank Cooper and grandmother-in-law Lena Baker, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Lawrence Vernon McClun
01/04/1913 - Monday, June 12, 2006

Lawrence Vernon McClun, 93, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2006 at Warner Robins, GA.

His graveside service will be Friday, June 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at West Lawn cemetery in Gering with Pastor Howard Roseberry officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Nebraska National Funeral Guard.

Mr. McClun was born in Adams, NE. to the late Jesse and Elsie Gerard McClun. His wife, Iona Reeder McClun, preceded him in death. He was also a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church and served in the United States Marines Corp in the South Pacific and China during WWII and was honorably discharged on March 16, 1946.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Richard E. Schawo of Warner Robins, GA; grandchildren Richard T. (Emily) Schawo and Tamara C. (Lee) Wood all of Warner Robins, GA and four great grandchildren.

Margaret A. Hebbert
03/02/1933 - Monday, July 31, 2006

Margaret Ann Hebbert, 73 of Gering, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2006 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming surrounded by her family.
A private family graveside will be at West Lawn cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Gering Zion Church with Bill Marietta officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel.

Margaret was born on March 2, 1933 to Ivan and Juanita (Thompson) Veatch in Ottumwa, Iowa, where she graduated from high school. She attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Ill. She worked for several years at Bell Telephone in Des Moines, Iowa. She and some friends from college formed a trio and toured for many years.

In 1956, she met Rev. Paul Hebbert, he was trying to find a pianist for a service and later they married on December 8, 1956 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Together they devoted the next 50 years to the ministry, both in the church and traveling and singing with their family. In 1976, they made their church home Gering Zion Church.

Margaret was choir director, counselor, pianist and mentor to many kids to sing in the church choir. She taught piano to numerous kids, teaching music at Lake Minatare and Victory Hill Schools.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed and loved her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren.

Survivors include, her husband of almost 50 years, Paul; sons and daughters-in-law Tim and Sandy and Matthew and Pam; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly “Fritz” and Paul Marietta;; grandchildren Courtney and her husband Charlie Bell, Caleb Hebbert, Alesa Hebbert, Morgan Hebbert, Ty Hebbert, Coulter Cooper, Cassidy Cooper, Mitchell Marietta, Jacey Marietta, Micah Hebbert; sisters Wilma Morris of Burlington, Iowa and Sandra (Phil) Davis of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law Beverly Hebbert of Casper and daughter-in-law Yvonne Smith of Gering and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, nephew, brother-in-law, infant daughter Kathleen and infant son Ty.

Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.

Mary E. Sowerwine

Mary E. Sowerwine, 92 of Gering, Nebraska died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering. Cremation was held.

Her memorial service will be held Monday, July 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Northfield Villa Chapel with Pastor Howard Roseberry officiating. Inurnment will be at West Lawn cemetery.
Mary was born on July 15, 1914 at Orafino, Nebraska to Curtis and Almetta R. (Mayo) Brown. In November 1917, the family moved to a farm in the sheep Creek community north of Henry, Nebraska. In February of 1927, they moved to Gering, where Mary was graduated from high school in 1932.

On October 4, 1934, she was married to Richard L. Sowerwine, Sr. in Torrington, Wyo.

They made their home in Gering where she assisted her husband in his fire protection business.

They moved to Pharr, Texas in 1988 and returned to Gering in 1997 and resided at Northfield Villa.

Mary was an active member of Central Church of Christ and U & I class.

She enjoyed traveling, meeting and making new friends, crocheting and writing letters. Friends and family looked forward to her letters.

She enjoyed her family and friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Richard L. Sowerwine, Jr. and Loretta of Gering; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Stewart Rusch of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Rhonda Stander and Robin Rutledge of Kimball, Scott Sowerwine of Phoenix, AZ, Kirk Rusch of Scottsbluff and Amy Lungrin of Charles City, IA; great grandchildren Kevin Wynne and Joly Ann Howard of Kimball, Kyle Wynne of Chappell, Emilia, Madison and Alyssa Sowerwine of Phoenix, AZ, Micah Rusch of Scottsbluff and William Lungrin of Charles City, IA; great great grandson Kade Wynne of Kimball; sister-in-law Bettebelle Vickery of Tulsa, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; infant son; sisters Hazel Thomas and Rosella Corbin; brother Robert Brown and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Central Church of Christ, Gering.

Juanita J. Fenning
05/23/1915 - Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Juanita J. Fenning, 91 of Gering, Nebraska died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be Monday, July 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve DeMorett officiating. Interment will be at West Lawn cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel.

Juanita was born on May 23, 1915 in Alliance, NE. to Henry and Katherine (Gerlach) Fenning.

She graduated from Gering High School in 1932, head of her class.

She attended college in Kearney.

She taught school in Sioux and Scotts Bluff County.

She was a receptionist for Judge Lyda, then in 1955, she worked for the City of Gering retiring in 1971.

She co-owned and operated the S & S Health Food Store in Scottsbluff in the late 1960’s retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Berean Bible Church in Scottsbluff. She loved people.

Survivors include her niece Venita Blasberg of Gering and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Henry, Roy, Adam, Con, Jack, George, John Fenning and sisters Margaret Blasberg, Kate Fenning, and Christina Johnson.
Memorials have been established to the Salvation Army.

Ruby Faye Stuckey
11/20/1912 - Friday, June 30, 2006

Ruby Faye Stuckey, 93, of Thornton, CO, formerly of Gering, died Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Brighton Care Center in Brighton, CO.

A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at West Lawn cemetery in Gering with Howard Roseberry officiating.

Friends may call Wednesday, July 5, 2006 between 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel.

Ruby was born November 20, 1912 in Logan County, NE to DeForest and Carrie Esta (Remington) Smith.

She received her early education in Melbeta and later attended Haig School in Mitchell Valley.

She married Paul Stuckey May 13, 1934 in Harrisburg, NE.

Ruby worked at the Hestead store in Gering for nine years before going to work at St. Mary’s Hospital for a number of years retiring in 1974.

She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Matthaei of Denver, CO; sons and daughters-in-law: Donald and Patricia Stuckey and Melvin and Jinger Stuckey all of Thornton, CO; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband one son Kenneth, sister Fern Ewing and an infant brother.

Socorro Ramirez
07/26/1922 - Sunday, June 18, 2006

Socorro Ramirez, 83, of Gering, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

A funeral mass will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father James Golka officiating.

Interment will be in the West Lawn cemetery in Gering.

Visitation is from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Gering Memorial Chapel in Gering.

A vigil service will be held 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, at Gering Memorial Chapel.
Socorro was born July 26, 1922, at Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico the daughter of Juana Navarro and Cruz Rocha. She married Benjamin Ramirez November 17, 1937, at Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She will be deeply missed by her five daughters, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and their families.

Socorro was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
