Carl K. Hart
Carl K. Hart died February 10, 2014 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Born in Ft. Madison, Iowa on November 17, 1928, Carl lived in Janesville, Wisconsin, Fostoria, Ohio and Evanston, Illinois, before attending primary school in Winnetka, Illinois. At the advent of World War II, Carl's father re-entered the army as an officer from World War I, during which time Carl attended high schools in Flint, Michigan, St. Petersburg, Florida, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Winnetka, Illinois, where he graduated in 1947. Carl received his undergraduate degree in 1951 from Carroll College, Waukesha, Wisconsin, and thereupon entered the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of sergeant, serving in the Korean Conflict. In 1953, Carl married Eleanor Pauls of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, as well as attended graduate school at the University of Chicago. Carl worked as an advertising salesman for Madison Newspapers, The Capitol Times and The Wisconsin State Journal, in Madison, Wisconsin for seventeen years before moving to Door County, Wisconsin, where in partnership with his wife he owned and operated several Fish Creek businesses: The Blue Willow Restaurant and Cottages, The Proud Mary Hotel and Shops, and Hart & Hart Co. During retirement, Carl lived in Stuart, Florida, David City and Lincoln, Nebraska. Survivors include: his wife Eleanor (Elly) of Lincoln; a sister, Carolyn (Murray) Randell of Stuart, Florida; two sons, Carl K. Hart, Jr. (Barbara) of Columbus, NE and Peter (Lynne) of Cedar Rapids, IA; four Hart grandchildren: Elizabeth of Portland, OR, Daniel (Christine) of Asheville, NC, Stella of Iowa City, IA and Roland of New York City, NY. A memorial service will be Saturday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 12th and M Streets, Lincoln, with graveside ceremony following at Wyuka cemetery. Memorials may be given to the historical St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lincoln, NE.

Michael Charles “Doc” Marsh
Mike Marsh passed away February 4, 2014 in Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by his family and friends following a lengthy illness. Mike was born December 29, 1952 in Leon, Iowa to Ernest Marsh and Darlene (Dobesh) Marsh. He was a graduate of Hastings High School in Hastings, Nebraska and attended pre-med at Kearny State College in Kearny, Nebraska before joining the United States Navy and serving with distinction. Mike was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation, as well as many other commendations during his service to his country. He retired from the Navy in September of 1996 and felt it was a great privilege and honor to have served his country. In addition to serving in the Navy, Mike earned his BS in Hospital Management from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and completed a Medical Assistant certificate program at the University of Nebraska. He loved people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others in need, volunteering at St. Elizabeth’s, HHS, and with the Special Olympics. He was also a proud member of St. John’s parish, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Lodge 131 and the DAV. Mike enjoyed a good joke, drawing, painting, animals, and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Rosemarie (Cassese) Marsh of Lincoln, a daughter Deanna Marsh of Lincoln, a brother, Steven Marsh of Chicago, IL, a sister Melody (Marsh) Spence of Elberon, Iowa, a nephew, Garrett Spence of Elberon, Iowa, a niece, Jaime Spence of Vinton, Iowa, and his two faithful friends, Bogo and Georgia. His ready smile and generous nature will be truly missed by all who knew him.   Services for Michael Marsh will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Apostle Parish in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorials to the Children International Fund in care of the family.

Lois C. Bodtke
Lois C. Bodtke, age 85 of Lincoln passed away February 3, 2014. She was born April 27, 1928 at home near Hubbell, Nebraska to Thomas C. and Emma (Meyer) Laverentz. Lois married Marvin Bodtke on July 6, 1952, together they owned and operated Marv's Central Market in Hebron, Nebraska until retiring in 1993. Survivors include her husband, Marvin E. Bodtke; daughter, Debra Bodtke; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Dana Bodtke all of Lincoln. Sister, Mildred House of Clyde, Ohio and a brother, Ralph Laverentz of Broomfield, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Donald Laverentz. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home. Interment will be at Wyuka cemetery. Memorials to the St. Paul United Methodist Church television ministry or The Capitol Humane Society

Rebecca Ruth Miller
Rebecca R. Miller, age 30 of Lincoln, passed away on January 31, 2014 following a hard fought battle with brain cancer. Rebecca was born on January 28, 1984 in Ft. Benning, Georgia to John and Brenda (Smith) Davis. She graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School and attended Southeast Community College and Nebraska Wesleyan University. Rebecca played AAA ice hockey with the Wisconsin Challengers and later served in the U.S. Army. A devoted mother, she lived for her children; as evidenced by her participation with them in their activities. Rebecca was a Cub Scout Leader and a Girl Scout Leader. She coached YMCA Soccer and T-Ball teams, youth Roller and Ice Hockey Teams, and was a past member of the Lincoln Ice Hockey Association Board of Directors. Her can-do attitude, fighting spirit, and infectious smile will serve as a lasting influence to all who knew her. Survivors include her husband Stewart Miller, her children Alex, Brandon, Ruth and Suzanne. Parents John and Brenda Davis all of Lincoln. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Rick & Heidi Davis of Ft. Rucker, Alabama and Steve & Chandra Davis of Cusseta, Georgia and her Grandparents Richard and Audrey Davis of Grand Island, Nebraska. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home from 2:00-8:00 P.M. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Southwood Lutheran Church, 9300 S. 40th, Lincoln. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 5th at Wyuka cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the 'O' street entrance of Wyuka cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Mabel M. Tichota
Mabel M. Tichota, age 89, of Lincoln passed away April 1, 2014. She was born June 30, 1924 in Pierce, Nebraska to Willy and Frieda (Dranselka) Ahlman. Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Caroline Province of Lincoln, Kathleen and Bill Roussan of Salem, Nebraska. Sons and Daughters-in-law, Randolph and Katherine Tichota of Lincoln, James and Judy Tichota of Lincoln, Marlan and Donna Tichota of Oklahoma. Brothers, Larry Ahlman and Arnold Ahlman. Sisters, Gladys Harbison, Sarah Mosel, Vera Oestrich. 9 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Tichota, her parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont St. Visitation will be on Friday, April 4th at Wyuka Funeral Home from 1:00-8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M. Interment will be at Wyuka cemetery. Memorials to the family.

Muriel L. Glathar
Muriel Lucile Glathar, 92, died March 27th, 2014, in hospice after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born December 19, 1921 in Julian Ne. to Archibald and Winifred (Castleman) Cook. She was the loving matriarch of the family, with a warm heart, a kind word, and an open ear to everyone she met. Homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother, Muriel truly excelled in her role as “Grandma”, spending many hours engaged in playing games and cards with her grandchildren throughout her life. On August 14, 1941, in Plattsmouth Ne. she was married to Dale Glathar. At that time, Dale was serving in the military; he spent 3 years overseas after their marriage. They enjoyed 47 years of marriage before Dale’s passing in 1988. As members of the “Greatest Generation” Muriel and Dale shared similar values of faithful commitment, loyalty to country, work ethic, financial prudence and personal responsibility. They raised four children, passing many of their beliefs and values on to their children. Muriel is survived by three children Bart (Elizabeth) Glathar, Marsha (Larry) Newman, Kurt (Kimberly) Glathar, and daughter-in-law Judy Glathar — Grandchildren Jason Glathar, Doug Glathar, Vicki Glathar, Mitchell Glathar, Brett (Samantha) McGovern, Amanda Keinholz, Ben (Julie) Glathar, Ann (David) Clark, Laura Glathar, Daniel Glathar, Natalie Fleming, Emily Fleming, Terri Craft, Rhett Sturm, and twelve great grandchildren. Muriel was preceded in death by husband Dale and son Gary. Cremation no visitation. Memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday April 12, at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 “O” St. Lincoln Ne. There is a meal to follow immediately after the Celebration of Life Service. Send Memorials to Tabitha Hospice or American Diabetes Assoc. Memorials left at the service will be forwarded to these two organizations.

Theodore Edward Hawkins
Theodore Edward Hawkins, infant son of Mark and Tonia (Thelander) Hawkins went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2014. He was born on March 13, 2014 in Omaha. Survivors include his parents, Mark and Tonia; brother, Victor; grandparents Ron and Cathy Hawkins and Kent and Nancy Thelander; aunts and uncle Troy and Tracy Hilligas and Tina Thelander; cousins Kiley, Jack, and Ellie. He was greeted in Heaven by his uncle Randal Lee Hawkins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Church of Nazarene, 1901 South 70th, Lincoln and reception will follow. Memorials may be directed to Wyuka Funeral Home and will be sent in Theodore's name to the Ronald McDonald House of Omaha.

Esther A. Zanderholm
Esther A. Zanderholm, age 66 of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born February 28, 1948 in Sutherland, Nebraska to Modesto and Angelina (Serria) Perez. Esther was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Survivors include her husband, Sam Zanderholm; her children, Melissa Thompson, Mikal Thompson and his significant other, Lindsey Kurtzer all of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Zachary, Kelynn, Caden, Araina, Aislynn, Mikal, Damarion, Malicia and Amya. Great granddaughter, Emma. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Cruz and Hermana Vargas, Joe and Rosie Vargas, Ray and Darlene Vargas. Sisters and brothers-in-law: Jennie and Manuel Cuellar, Tomasita and Donald Reyes, Benita Del Toro. Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her daughter, Angie Perez Thompson, her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Services will be held at Noon on Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M. on Monday, March 24th at Wyuka cemetery. Family and friends will gather inside the 'O' Street gate. Visitation will be at Wyuka Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23rd from Noon until 8:00 P.M. The family will be at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 P.M. to greet friends. Memorials to the family for a later designation.

Marie Walton
Marie Walton, age 99 of Lincoln passed away March 9, 2014. She was born May 11, 1914 in Lincoln. Survivors include 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one brother, Herman Greenwald of Florida. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 13th at Wyuka Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be at Wyuka cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until 4 P.M. on Wednesday, March 12 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Memorials to the family

John C. Planer
John C. Planer, age 60 of Lincoln passed away February 21, 2014. He was born December 15, 1953 in Lincoln to George and Irene (Timm) Planer. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Wyuka cemetery. Family and friends will gather inside the 'O' street gate prior to 10:50 A.M. Pastor Mark Ebert officiating. Memorials to the family or donor's choice.

Timothy A. Sobotta
Timothy A. Sobotta, age 54 of Lincoln passed away March 1, 2014. He was born May 6, 1959 in Lincoln to Norman R. and Janis (Hupka) Sobotta. Tim was employed with Burlington Northern for over 20 years as a welder and car man. He enjoyed listening to music, watching basketball and hanging out with his friends and family.
Survivors include his mother, Janis Sobotta. Sisters and Brother-in-law: Debra Olson and Tammie Kamerzell and her husband Scott. Nieces: Christine Olson and Jennifer Johnson and her husband Justin all of Lincoln. Preceded in death by his father, Norman and nephew, Matthew Olson.
Services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in the St. Mary Catholic cemetery, St. Mary, Nebraska.
Memorials to the family for a later designation.

Lee A. Smith
Lee Adam Smith, 28, Army Specialist, PARATROOPER, 82nd Airborne Division, Veteran of two tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lee was a member of Boy Scout Troop 99, Venture Crew 99, Lincoln High School Football, Wrestling, and Baseball Teams, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. He was born in Warren, MI on November 28, 1985 (his fathers 30th birthday) to Mark and Cathy (Blair) Smith. Lee was completing a criminal justice degree with plans to work in law enforcement. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that could light up the sky. Lee loved Nebraska football and The Steelers. Lee collected gnomes and nutcrackers. Lee was a good man with a big heart. He loved laughing. He loved being with friends. He liked Star Trek and Star Wars. He was loyal. He was a patriot. He loved his family.
Lee is survived by his parents; sister, Laticia Bergmeier (Nathan) of Odell, brothers, Christopher (Jennifer) and Matthew of Lincoln; nieces, Stormi and Madi; nephew, Marcelo; many uncles, aunts, and cousins. The poochies, Franky, Bud, Bella, Penelope, and Princess and the kitties, Cali and Foster. His grandparents will welcome him into Heaven.
A celebration of Lees life will be Monday March 3, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home 3600 O St, Lincoln. Burial with military honors Wyuka’s Soldier’s Circle. Presentation of flag by his best friend Captain Stephen Austria. Visitation will be from 1p.m. to 8p.m. on Sunday March 2, 2014 at Wyuka. Memorials to family for a charitable donation in Lee’s memory at a later date.

Leota Mae Bennett
Leota Bennett passed away peacefully at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln on July 19, 2012 at the age of 101. She was one of seven children and was the beloved wife of Jerry Bennett. She will be forever remembered by her sons, Chuck and Jim, grandchildren, Jeff, Tim, Kim, Brenna and Kelly and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Clayton, Jessica, Samantha, Emma, Sarah, Calvin, Jared, Dawson, Tylyn, Brooklyn, Ellison, Abbey and Kenzie and many friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
She and her husband spent their early years of life inAuburn, Humboldt, andFairbury,Nebraska. She worked at Bennett Clothiers and managed the Mode O Day shop in Fairbury. Leota was an active member of the Southeast Nebraska Amateur Radio Club, and supported her husband’s interest in Ham Radio as a member of the Lincoln Holiday Rambler Camper Club. Leota was an outstanding cook and loved to craft, garden and spend time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, daughter, parents, brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Leota Bennett Memorial, PO Box 67181, Lincoln,Nebraska 68506.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 12:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Masters officiating.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.

Gerald (Red) Raymond Fitzwater
Gerald (Red) Raymond Fitzwater age 85 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Lincoln. He was born on June 17, 1927 in Kellerton, Iowa to Ernie and Grace (McClain) Fitzwater. Red owned and operated several full service gas stations, including Reds Skelly. He retired from Lincoln Public Schools.
Red is survived by his son, Mitchell Fitzwater of Lincoln; son, Jim Sparks of Lincoln; daughter, Paula (Mike) Hardesty of Lincoln; great-granddaughter, Harley Hardesty. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Harley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
