Jack Edward Thomas

Jack Edward Thomas was born December 26, 1932, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Chester and Ethel Thomas. He was raised in Lincoln, joined the Marines out of high school, and married
Corrine Nieting on August 12, 1952. They had a family of one daughter, Tracey, and two sons, Neal and Tom, celebrating 47 years of marriage before her death in 1999.
He had a decorated career with the Marines Corps, including the invasion of Inchon, at the start of the Korean War. Subsequently he became a representative for numerous office furniture and equipment manufacturers in Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, and had his own successful dealership.
Always very interested in sports, he held many Nebraska state high school records for track and field, and football. For 35 years he volunteered his time as an official for the Drake Relays each April in Des Moines, and high school track meets in Iowa and Nebraska. His personal interests included cooking and gardening. Upon retirement, he traveled extensively throughout the United States, spending much of the time in the Southwest.
Reconnecting with Doris Collins by a chance encounter at a high school reunion in 2002, they were married
February 15, 2003. Settling in Green Valley, Arizona, they have enjoyed a wonderful eight years together.
Jack has been a communicant member of Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior since relocating to Green Valley and is survived by his wife Doris, son Neal of Papillion, Nebraska, Alan and daughter Tracey Wilson of Naperville, Illinois and their children, Ryan, Brenton and Hillary, Son Tom and Rita Thomas of Maitland, Florida, and their children, Andrew, Michael and Megan, his brother Chester and Cora Thomas of Rhode Island, as well as Doris’ family, daughter Diane and John Orr with son Andrew, Sugarland, Texas, Brenda Onstead of Sugarland, Texas with sons Robert and Douglas, and Stan and Linda Collins of Lincoln, Nebraska with sons Cory and Clinton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.
Billy J. Hohenfeldt
Billy J. Hohenfeldt, age 85 of Lincoln, passed away on February 17, 2011. He was born January 15, 1926 in Beatrice, Nebraska to William and Goldie (McKinney) Hohenfeldt. He married
Norma DeRock on August 4, 1945. He married
Pat Mount February 21, 1981. Billy worked at Gooches/ADM from 1946 until 1991. He also enjoyed cars and antique clocks.
Survivors include Sons and Daughters-in-law: Edward and Lavonne Hohenfeldt; Jerry and Mary Hohenfeldt. Daughters and Sons-in-law: Sharon and Weldon Manley; Beverly and Roger Rickman. 10 Grandchildren; 15 Great grandchildren and 2 Great, Great grandchildren. Sister: Pauline Gibson of Baxter Springs, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brother: Donald, Sister Audrey and Wives: Norma and Pat.
Services will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30 A.M.
Visitation will be at Wyuka Funeral Home on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association in Billys name.
Gerald B. Lawson

Gerald Bruce Lawson age 57 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, February 7, 2011 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Lincoln on April 10, 1953 to Eugene Vernon and Jeannette Francis (Eberline) Lawson. Gerry worked for the Nebraska Military Department of 37 years as a graphic artist. Gerry married
Carol Eckland on October 7, 1990 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He enjoyed visiting with people at length and found any topic interesting. He was a good listener, and helping others was second nature to him. He loved art, music, and life. He had a passion for college football, especially Notre Dame, and took many trips over the years with his friend, Drasis Pajeda to see the Fighting Irish play.
Gerry is survived by his wife Carol of Lincoln; mother, Jeannette of Lincoln; sisters, Nancy (Boyd) King of Lincoln; Susan (Jerry) Bradford of Lincoln; Janet (Kent) Alderin of North Dakota; brother, Tom (Kate) Lawson of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Pat Lawson of Lincoln; parents-in-law, Aldon and Donna Eckland of Scottsbluff; sisters-in-law, Lee (Greg) Green of Wedona, CO; Jeanne (Pat) Wicks of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Ken (Julie) Eckland of Scottsbluff; many nieces and nephews, and many special long-time friends including Drasis Pajeda, Todd and Rhonda Ball, Paul and Marji Morrison and Jerry Belford. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Lawson and a brother, Donald Lawson.
Cremation, no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Wilma Jones
Wilma M. Jones, 85, of Wahoo died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Haven House in Wahoo.
She was born April 11, 1918, on her familys homestead near Buffalo Gap, S.D. As a child she watched the development of the monument at Mount Rushmore. The family later moved to Hot Springs, S.D., having strongly felt the effects of the Great Depression. She graduated with honors from Hot Springs High School and attended Colorado State Womens College in Denver, then the University of Nebraska where she earned a bachelors degree in business education. She also took graduate courses in education and taught at Trenton and Cambridge. She married
Merle F. E. Jones in 1943 in Cambridge. In 1947, the family lost all of their possessions due to a flash flood. The couple and their young son, Bill, were all presumed dead for a number of days, but the family members had saved themselves by cutting a hole in the ceiling and climbing to safety. During the 1950s, she retired from teaching when her husband entered the Methodist ministry for seven years. They served churches in Bladen, Scotia, Pauline and Ayr. She returned to teaching in Alexandria and Arcadia, retiring in 1958 when the family moved to Hastings. Her husband preceded her in death in 1981. She moved to Haven House in Wahoo in 1983.
Survivors include: two sons, Merle "Bill" Jones of Lincoln and Jerry (and wife, Jean) Jones of Papillion; two brothers, Bob Petty of Spokane, Wash., and Lee Petty of Minneapolis; and three granddaughters. There is no visitation or services. Burial will be in Hot Springs cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Haven House.
Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.
Beverly Faye Pagel
Beverly Faye Pagel age 75 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, February 7, 2011 in Lincoln. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Lincoln to H. Armin and Edna (Booth) Pagel. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953 and the University of Nebraska. She worked for the Cedars Home for Children. Bev loved the outdoors and things of nature. She had a green thumb and raised beautiful flowers and flowering trees. She was the best pitcher the First Church ball team ever had. Cats were an important part of Bevs life. Music was also important to her. She had a large tape collection that she listened too as well as being an accomplished pianist. Bev provided transportation for many of her friends, so they could keep appointments.
Beverly is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Armin and Ginny Pagel of Texas, niece; Karen of New Jersey; nephew, Doug and wife Jude of Illinois; 2 great nephews, Reece and Nathan; cousin, Stan McNichol and families of Ken and Gladys Pagel, Keith and Martha Pagel, Sherrie and Herb Kirchem, Bob (and Ruth Pagel) McNicol, Rex and Joan Koivisto, Bruce and Janet McNicol. Round Robin High School friends and a host of others.
Cremation, no visitation.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Christian Heritage House, City Mission or Tabitha.
DuBart Dan Watson II

DuBart Dan Watson II age 33 of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Lincoln. He was born on March 9, 1977 in Dallas, Texas to DuBart Watson and Carol Whitehead. He was married
to Danielle Murray. DuBart worked at TMCO in the powdercoating department.
DuBart is survived by his wife, Danielle of Lincoln; daughters, Kiara and Natalya of Lincoln; mother, Carol Whitehead of Lincoln; sister, Rayna Watson of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Jimmy Blankenfeld of Lincoln; uncle, Charles Whitehead of Ithica, New York; aunt, Barb Whitehead of Lincoln; many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, father, and mother-in-law, Jane Blankenfeld.
Cremation/no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.

Raymond Modlin Bowman
The funeral for Raymond E. Modlin Bowman, 56, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fremont.
He died Monday, April 5, 2004, at John Cochran Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born March 1, 1948, in Omaha. He moved to Fremont at age 10 and graduated from Fremont High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from April 1, 1966, to July 2, 1970. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He became disabled while in the service and retired.
He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fremont. He was a life member of Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Omaha Chapter, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Fremont Chapter, Disabled American Veterans at Fremont and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include: three daughters, Diana K. Aubuchon, Marissa A. Aubuchon and Tiffany Aubuchon, all of Tyndall, S.D.; stepmother, Rose Bowman of Villisca, Iowa; three sisters, Ethel Stack of Dayton, Iowa, Evelyn (Mrs. Douglas) Fletcher of Fremont and Susan (Mrs. Patrick) Tobin of Tekamah; a stepsister, Pamela A. Graham of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and a stepbrother, Donald Bowman of Villisca.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The Rev. Michael Kellogg will officiate Fridays service. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to service time at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 of Fremont. Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday at Tekamah cemetery in Tekamah.
Tammi J. Preston
Tammi J. Preston, age 49, of Lincoln, died Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was born on December 14, 1961 in Lincoln to Wayne A. and Helen E. (VanDyke) Preston. Tammi was the Director of Outreach for Education Quest Foundation. She was a charter member of SouthPointe Christian Church and a member of Lincoln Leadership.
Survivors include her Sister: Colleen Anderson of Omaha; Niece: Heather Swezey of Las Vegas, NV. Nephew: Patrick Anderson of Jefferson City, MO. Also, many wonderful friends. Preceded in death by her parents and her Brother-in-law: Jim Anderson.
Services will be held at SouthPointe Christian Church, 7010 Helen Witt Dr. Lincoln. on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be held at Wyuka Funeral Home on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from Noon until 9:00 P.M. The family will be present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Burial will be at the Church of the Brethren cemetery in Holmesville, Nebraska.
Memorials may be left for SouthPointe Christian Church or the Food Bank of Lincoln, backpack program.

Henrietta Dvorak, 91, of Malmo died today, April 12, 2004, at Haven House in Wahoo.
