R. Edward Eddie Hall
August 14, 2011
R. Edward Eddie Hall passed away peacefully, Saturday August 13th at home, surrounded by his family. Ed was born February 4, 1924. He lived in Lincoln all of his life with the exception of World War II when he served in the Navy Air Corps. He was a pilot with the rank of Lieutenant J.G.
Ed graduated from Lincoln High School in 1942. In 1945 he married Elaine Spomer and they celebrated 66 years of married life together on July 15, 2011. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1948 and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation he was employed by Cushman Motors as Industrial Relations Representative. After 30 years at Cushmans he retired and founded Hall Pine Acres Christmas Tree Farm. He continued the tree farm for many years and loved the work and the many customers who returned year after year.
Ed was a member of Hillcrest Country Club for many years and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Olive Hall and three sisters. He leaves to mourn for him his wife Elaine, son Steven E. Hall of Bennet, NE.; two daughters Nancy Jane Cullen and husband David of Long Neck, Delaware; Jeri E. Hall of Grand Canyon, Arizona. Six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a nephew Dean K. Bowen. A special thank you to sister-in-law and husband, Jane and Jim Hacker; special friends, Don Grant, and John and Lin Hansen.
A family service will be held at a later date. Memorials in lieu of flowers should be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2001 S. 11th, Lincoln, NE. 68502 and the Center for People in Need, 3901 N 27th St Unit 1, Lincoln, NE 68521

Marguerite 'Peg' Maly
August 11, 2011
Marguerite 'Peg' Maly age 87 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her home in Lincoln. She was born on November 3, 1923 in Lincoln to George Hartington and Ruth Eugenia (Warrick) Lemon. She married Stanley Maly Jr. on July 14, 1944 in Lincoln.
Cremation/no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.

Leonard Carl Coy, Jr.
August 9, 2011
Leonard Carl Coy, Jr. age 63 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Lancaster Manor. He was born on October 22, 1947 in Lincoln to Leonard Carl Coy, Sr. and Frances Kirwin. He worked as a roofer most of his life.
Cremation/no visitation.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka cemetery.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.

Tricia Lynne Griggs
August 5, 2011
Tricia Lynne Griggs age 61 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Thursday, August 4, 2011 in Lincoln. She was born on March 17, 1950 in Russellville, Alabama to James C. and Lucy (Justice) Bozeman. She married Phillip Griggs, Sr., on July 19, 1980. Tricia worked in sales for Jones Oil and Rockport Oil for 15 years.
Tricia is survived by her husband, Phillip Griggs, Sr., of Lincoln; her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Anna Griggs, Jr., of Utica, Nebraska; her son, Chris Griggs of Utica; 7 grandchildren; her aunt and uncle, Leo and Sue Heaps of Hickman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry Bozeman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

Louise Ann Batty
August 2, 2011
Louise Ann Batty age 65 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Lincoln. She was born on October 15, 1945 in Lincoln to Everett and Mildred (Spencer) Berggren. She was retired from working in housekeeping at the Legacy. Louise loved gardening and her dog Annie.
Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Koch of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Andy Verdooren of Lincoln; grandchildren, Ashley, Tatum and Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Wyuka cemetery.
Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Winifred Lucille Cather
July 30, 2011
Winifred Lucille Cather was born August 26, 1919 in University Place, NE and died July 22, 2011 in Lincoln, NE. Winnie graduated from Jackson High in 1937 and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she was honored as a May Day attendant. She was admitted to Bryan School of Nursing but eloped instead, marrying Howard J. Cather in Council Bluffs on January 24, 1941.
Winnie worked in Miller & Paine’s millenary department and during World War II at Stop Nut. She volunteered extensively as an American Red Cross nurse at Veterans’ Hospital, Brownie Scout leader and Holmes PTA president. A member of Longshot Investment Club and 100 Club, she was a State Fair award winning quilter and rug maker. Winnie loved reading into the night and living in the country with her horses, dogs and cats.
She was preceded in death by Howard, husband of 65 years; parents Bernard and Sarah Japs and four siblings and survived by great granddaughter Chloe Lucille Herron, great grandson Cael Thomas Herron, granddaughter Gretchen A. Herron and husband S. Brent Herron, grandson Adam T. Petsch and wife Priscilla L. Petsch, daughter and son-in-law Cathie and Tom Petsch, son Jay Bernard Cather and brother Bernard C. Japs.
“Pooh,” as she was called by her grandchildren, was a generous donor to many local causes and community organizations. Memorials may be given to Lincoln Children’s Zoo, 1222 South 27th Lincoln, NE 68502 or Nebraska Wesleyan University, 5000 Saint Paul Ave. Lincoln, NE 68504.
A family service and burial was held at Wyuka cemetery.

Lloyd V. Taylor
June 16, 2012
Lloyd V. Taylor, age 80, of Lincoln died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at home following a long illness. He was born to Harry and Minnie (Felton) Taylor on December 24, 1931 in Lincoln. Lloyd married Marlene V. Dick on March 23, 1949. They made their home in Lincoln. Lloyd worked at Donley Medical Supply, he was also the founder of Taylor Drain & Sewer. Lloyd later worked at and retired from Lincoln Public Schools. Lloyd enjoyed an active life of hunting and fishing. He took great pride in the apperance of his home and yard. Lloyd was well known for his love of food!
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene Taylor, son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Bea Taylor of Lincoln, three grand children: Julie Atkinson, Michelle Taylor and Matt Taylor all of Lincoln; four great grandchildren, Jordan and Garrett Atkinson, Alexa and Morgan Taylor all of Lincoln. Sister-in-law: Shirley Taylor. Many nieces and nephews, and faithful dog, Rusty. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Albert, Ralph and Leo, three sisters Mabel, Helen and Gladys.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. in Wyuka Funeral Home, Rosary services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in Wyuka Funeral Home. Officiant: Fr. John Sullivan. Visitation will be Monday beginning at 5:00 P.M. in Wyuka Funeral Home. Interment will be at Wyuka cemetery.
Memorials may be left to the Capitol Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

Darrel Dietrick Butts
June 13, 2012
Darrel Dietrick Butts Coach Rocko age 72 of Lincoln died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in Lincoln. He was born on October 18, 1939 in Lincoln to Melvin D. and Hazel (Palmer) Butts. Darrel was a graduate of Lincoln Northeast H. S. He was an avid sports fan, supporting UNL, Nebraska Wesleyan, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers. Locally, he coached girls softball and mens basketball for many years. Darrel was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church.
Darrel is survived by his sisters, Alberta (Rod) Martyn, Judy (Ronald) Legg, Sandra (Mark) Sendtko, and his brother, Randy (Prudence) Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Wyuka Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Beckman officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family.

Betty Lou Vietz
June 10, 2012
Betty Lou Vietz age 69 of Lincoln, Nebraska died on Saturday, June 9, 2012 in Lincoln. She was born on March 27, 1943 in St. Paul, Nebraska to Lawrence and Eleanor (Joynt) Becker. She was married to Donald Vietz for 28 years. Betty owned and operated a daycare out of her home for 25 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. She was a member of the Calvary Community Church.
Betty is survived by her husband, Don of Lincoln; daughters, Kathy (Kyle) Rice of Lincoln; Pam (Tom) Houser of Mercer, North Dakota; Jennifer Wright of Raymond; Sherri (Steve) Weiss of Sterling; Robyn Dunlap of Palmyra; sons, Mike (Gail) Corning of Pontiac, Illinois; Billy (Heather) Corning of Dorchester; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Hennesy of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Steven Corning, and her brother-in-law, Jim Hennesy.
Cremation, no visitation.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the Calvary Community Church with Pastor Cleve Smith officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
