Mary Vollenweider, age 65 (1945-2010)
Mary Vollenweider, 65, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Friday, February 26th, 2010, at the Cozad Community Hospital in Cozad.
Mary was born February 3rd, 1945, to Arthur and Dorothy (Keller) Smith at Cozad, and graduated from Cozad High School.
On May 8th, 1965, she married
Robert "Bob" Vollenweider at Cozad. The couple made their home at Cozad. In the mid 1970's the couple moved to a farm north of Cozad where they lived the rest of their married
lives together. Mary worked for a short time as a secretary at the Cozad Public Schools before moving on to childcare. Mary babysat children for a number of years before going to work for Daylight Donuts, VVS Canteen and Sonny's Super Foods. Her husband, Bob preceded her in death in 2009.
Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and collecting giraffes and angels. She had a special way of taking care of others before herself, a trait that was exhibited through her work as a daycare provider and caregiver for her family. Mary also took great joy in caring for animals.
In addition to her husband, Mary was also preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Tricia in 2000.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Jeff) Buresh of Kearney, Nebraska; a son, Bill (Cristy) Vollenweider of Cozad; two grandchildren, Ashley Vollenweider of Omaha and Jaden Vollenweider of Cozad.
Services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Father Don O'Brien officiating. Burial was in Cozad cemetery.

Ron Anderson, age 65 (1944-2010)
Ron Anderson, 65, of Loveland, Colorado, formerly of Cozad, Nebraska, died Friday, February 26th, 2010, at the Medical Center of the Rockies Hospital in Loveland, Colorado, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ron was born November 22nd, 1944, in Salem, Oregon, to Carl and Clarebelle Anderson. Ron served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. After serving his country, he came back to Cozad and worked at Monroe's and New Holland in Lexington.
On August 25th, 1971, he married
Linda Kirk and later adopted her daughter Lindsay. They made their home in Cozad. Ron and Linda renewed their vows on November 3rd, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada and made their home in Loveland, Colorado. Ron was a devoted husband, loving father, brother and uncle.
Ron loved to fish. He cherished his time fishing in Wyoming with his friends. Those were some of his fondest memories. He enjoyed the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and shared a common bond of hockey with his daughter, Lindsay. He enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard. Watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers play football was a "must see".
Ron had been employed for the past 22 years at Amerimax Fabricated Products in Loveland, Colorado. He was very dedicated to his job and took pride in his work. He was so looking forward to retirement at the time of his death.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and two sisters, Marlene and Jewell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Anderson; daughter, Lindsay of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister, Delores Lindeman of Cozad; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place.

A graveside service with military honors was at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010, at the Cozad cemetery.

Winona Robb, age 76 (1933-2010)
Winona "Noni" Robb, 76, of Elwood, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 27th, 2010, at her home in Elwood.
She was born September 11th, 1933, at Oconto, Nebraska, to Robert and Gladys (Wolverton) Seevers. She graduated from Oconto High School.
On August 23rd, 1957, she married
Bill Robb at Elwood. The couple made their home in several places including Lexington, Culbertson, Indianola and Smithfield before moving to Elwood in 1985. Noni worked at the Elwood City Office where she served as the City Clerk for 35 years. Most recently, she had been employed at Wal-Mart in Lexington.
Noni was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood.
She always cherished time spent with her family; she would always host Sunday morning breakfast, which became a traditional weekly occurrence. She enjoyed wildlife and spending time outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bonnie Cochran; and two great-grandchildren, Nyssa and Kylan Robb.
Survivors include her loving husband, Bill Robb of Elwood; son, Billy (Donna) Robb of Elwood; daughter, Robin (Leroy) Clouse of Elwood; two sisters, Roberta Bice and Lametta Hampton, both of Lexington; brother-in-law, Bob Cochran of Overton; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 11a.m., on Friday, March 5th, 2010, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with Pastor Jeff Ernstmeyer officiating.
Visitation will be (today) Thursday, March 4th, 2010, from 4 p.m., to 8 p.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood.
A private family inurnment will be held at the Elwood cemetery at a later date.

Harriet A. Ferguson, 72 (1937-2010)
Harriet (Becky) Ferguson of Cozad, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 27th, 2010, at Golden LivingCenter, Cozad.
She was born March 23rd, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri, to William and Florence Dunman.
Becky especially enjoyed family, socializing with friends, and watching the Cozad Haymaker and Nebraska Cornhusker sports teams. She was a St. Louis Cardinals and Denver Broncos fan. She was a charter member of the Cozad Christian Church and a member of the Adelphians and Missionary Group. In her early days in Cozad she worked as a waitress at the Dixie Inn, and later the Red Rooster. She was a perfect fit for these opportunities, as she loved to meet with friends and neighbors of all ages and greet new faces to the area. She later worked at Pizza Hut before going to work at Valley Vending.
Becky's life changed drastically in April 1992 when she was stricken with streptococcus pneumonia. From that point on, day-to-day chores became challenges and although frustrated, she never lost her zest for life or her ability to show compassion for the well being of others in need. She will be missed by all who knew her for who she was.
Survivors include her children, Susie Ferguson and Scott Fotinos of Lincoln, Nebraska; Bill and Terrie Ferguson, Bradley and Emily, of North Ogden, Utah; Sandi and John Galyas, Rebecca and John David of Naples, Florida; Scott and Sara Ferguson, of Topeka, Kansas, Amanda, Mitchel, Matthew and Tyler of North Platte, Nebraska and Gabriel of Topeka, Kansas; and Mark of Stratton, Nebraska; her twin brother, Harry Dunman of Missouri; sister, Florence Dahlke of Oregon; sister-in-law, Judy Dunman of Florida; Jim and Bonnie Ferguson and Leonard and Bonnie Peterson of Ansley, Nebraska, Richard of Cozad; Hazel Hagler of Arnold, Nebraska and Marvin and Sharon Ferguson of Arizona and many nieces, nephews and very close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claris, September 17th, 2007; brother, William Dunman; brothers-in-law, Loran Dahlke, Lawrence Conroy and Bill Hagler; sister-in-law, Helen Bergman; and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cozad Christian Church and Golden LivingCenter, Wii project.
To accommodate various travel plans of family and friends, a memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 19th, 2010, at Ft. McPherson National cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

Nancy Vandenberg, 60 (1937-2010)
Nancy J. Vandenberg, 60, of North Platte, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 27th at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte after being diagnosed with cancer a year ago.
She was born October 16th, 1949, to Herbert Granell and Dixie Bell (Perry) Carroll in Wichita Falls, Texas.
As a certified law enforcement officer, Nancy served the citizens of Nebraska for 36 years in several capacities: communications specialist, Bellevue PD and Sarpy County SO; police officer, Ralston and Lexington; deputy sheriff, Sarpy and Dawson Counties; NEOC investigator, Lincoln; State Patrol field intelligence representative, North Platte.
She was united in marriage to Gregory L. Vandenberg of Omaha on October 15th, 1977, in Ralston. The couple lived in Ralston, Lexington and Lincoln before moving to North Platte in 1998.
Nancy especially enjoyed the companionship of her many pets and sharing the fruits of her silversmithing talents with others. She will be remembered by those who knew her as a loving and devoted wife, a loyal and supportive sister, and a committed and caring friend and co-worker throughout a life rich with grace and dignity.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Greg; two sisters, Gwendolyn Fooshee of New Albany, Massachusetts, and Billie Hughes of Pineville, Louisianan; two brothers, Grady Carroll of Aurora, Colorado, and Anthony Carroll of Augusta, Georgia; and seven nieces and seven nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Diane (Carroll) Rodgers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Nebraska State Patrol Foundation, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, the Callahan Cancer Center in North Platte and the North Platte Animal Shelter.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2nd, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte. Burial was at 11 a.m. Wednesday March 3rd, at Lincoln Memorial cemetery in Lincoln.

Margaret Seward, age 82 (1927-2010)
Margaret "Louise" Seward, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, March 1st, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
She was born March 31st, 1927, at Moline, Kansas, to Jay B. and Myrtle A. (Lee) McNown. Louise attended school at Moline and during high school she worked at Boeing Aircraft during WWII as a "Rosie The Riveter". Louise was united in marriage to Richard R. Seward on July 7th, 1945, at the Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas. The couple was blessed with five children, John, Rick, Randy, Brenda and Michelle.
Louise worked at Standard Oil Company in Topeka, Kansas, and in 1951 the couple moved to Kearney where she worked for Quality Oil Company and was the first to open a convenience store in Kearney, which offered the first car wash.
In 1971, the couple moved to the Lexington area and opened Krazy Dick's, five miles south of Lexington. Louise worked for the City of Lexington at the Grand Generation Center for seven years, where she enjoyed the people and made many friends.
Louise was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She always had a wonderful smile and a kind word for all she came in contact with. She will be so missed.
Survivors include three sons, John and Virginia Seward of Topeka, Kansas, Rick and Joyce Seward of Ord, Nebraska and Randy and Ruth Seward of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; two daughters, Brenda and Brad Meineke of Omaha, Nebraska and Michelle and Paul Shelton of Gilbert, Arizona; three sisters, Lorene Runyon of Sedan, Kansas, Alta Ehrlich of Delaware, Oregon and Peggy Ward of Wichita, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, with two on the way and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 6th, 2010, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Todd Karges officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 5th, 2010, from 5-7 p.m., at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Robert Wray Lydic
January 15, 1913 - January 14, 2009
Robert "Wray" Lydic, 95 of Gothenburg, formerly of Farnam, died on January 14, 2009 at Gothenburg.
Wray was born on January 15, 1913 at the homeplace south of Farnam to Robert "Bob" and Lula (Aylsworth) Lydic.
Wray attended Frontier County School District 60 (Highland School) and graduated from Farnam High School; he attended Kearney State College.
Wray married
Theresa Derra on January 15, 1942 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farnam. Shortly after their marriage, Wray was drafted into the Army where he served his country during WWII in the 126 Infantry of the 32nd Division in the Southwest Pacific. Wray and Theresa had 4 children: Donald, James, Thomas, and Mary Ann.
Wray and Theresa farmed and ranched north west of Farnam on East Deer Creek. The land, horses, and cattle were deeply embedded into Wray's being. He passed this deep appreciation onto his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed people especially children. He loved the south hills, after he returned from the military he never wanted to leave again.
They retired and moved to Gothenburg in 1990. Wray and Theresa were active participants in Marriage Encounter. Wray was an active member of the Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Church and Farnam American Legion Post # 288. He was a former member of the Lincoln Co. Extension board, 4-H Council and the Farnam School Board.
Wray was preceded in death by His parents Robert and Lula Lydic, his wife Theresa in 2004, a brother Frank, and sisters Sarah A. and Anna.
Survivors include his four children: Don, Jim (Joyce), and Tom (Dawn) all of Brady; and Mary (Brad) Porter of Fremont; 8 grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jennifer (Abby, Hallee, Devin) Bonta of North Platte; Nathan and Ashley (Emery, Breck, Ella) Lydic of Brady; Robert Lydic of Brady; Sarah and Mike (James and Jackson) Roberts of Brady; Adam and Stephanie Porter of Olathe, KS and Megan Porter of Fremont; Rachel Lydic and Joshua Lydic of Brady, brother-in-law Donald (Vonnie) Derra ,and Sister-in-law Elsie Mae Derra and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
