Marit Ida Benash, 71, of Gothenburg, NE, died April 19, 2011 in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born July 22, 1939 in Gosper County, NE, daughter of Frank Kalthoff and Bertha Kalthoff.
Marit grew up in Gosper County on her parent’s farm. She graduated from Arapaho High School. On May 25, 1958 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gosper County, she married Wayne G. Benash. To this union three children were born: Richard, JoLynn, and Katherine.
Marit lived most of her life in Gothenburg and she worked as a sales clerk. She loved birds and flowers.
Surviving are husband, Wayne Benash of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Kathy Benash of Gothenburg, NE; son, Richard Benash of Megargel, TX; daughter, JoLynn Ann Richerdson of Fredricksburg, VA; 4 sisters, Karen Way of Council Bluffs, IA; Dee Dewey of Brewster, KS; Neda Ogan of Eaton, CO; Lynnette Coffey; 5 grandchildren Bradley, Danny, Aimee, Bryan, and Summer; 2 great grandchildren Peter and Naomi; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Marit was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Charlene Cisco.

Howard A Hodson
Howard A. Hodson, 96, of Gothenburg, NE, died April 3, 2011 in the same home where he was born on the family farm east of Gothenburg, NE.
He was born June 4, 1914 to Thomas A and Mildred A (Tallman) Hodson.
Howard graduated from Gothenburg High School. When his father was injured in an automobile accident, Howard saw the nurse who specialized his father and knew that was the girl that he wanted to marry. He married Violet L Carr on November 15, 1936 at Gothenburg. To this union, two children were born: H. Kent and Connie.
Howard farmed the land that his grandfather had homesteaded and later his grandfather and father farmed. He also was an insurance agent, dairyman and raised fattening cattle. Howard was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.
Howard quietly left a legacy of being a good neighbor, by helping scores of individuals and families less fortunate than himself; from opening his home to finances to those who needed it. His reputation is a testimony to those he has aided.
Surviving are son, H Kent Hodson of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Connie L White and her husband Ralph of Eustis, NE; a nephew, Thomas Z Hodson and his wife Mary Edna, a niece Kay E Hodson, and a great nephew Timothy Hodson all of Champaign Il; and many friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Hodson on December 28, 2007.

Grover G. Cole
November 24, 1920 - February 24, 2012
Grover G. Cole, 91, of Kinsley, KS; formally of Curtis died February 24, 2012 in Dodge City, KS.
Grover was born November 24, 1920 in Stockville, NE, to George Cleveland and Judith Mary(Bailey) Cole. He attend school in Stockville. Following school Grover served his country as an Army Air Corpsman. He received the American Theater Ribbon, A P T Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Ribbon.
Grover married Katherine J. Thompson on July 3, 1939 at Stockville, NE; to this union three children were born: Arthur, Larry and Georgia.
Grover worked as a Farmer / Aircraft Electrician.
Grover made their home in Kinsley, Kansas for the past 28 years.
Surviving are son, Arthur C. Cole of Owass, OK; son, Larry K. Cole of Spearville, KS; daughter, Georgia Linton of Prospect, KY; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services: Wednesday February 29, 2012, 2:00 p at Fort McPherson National cemetery

Mary Gene Lamb
June 9, 1921 - July 21, 2012
Mary Gene Lamb, 91, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 21, 2012 in Gothenburg, NE.
Mary Gene was born in St. Pauls, North Carolina, on June 9, 1921, to Julian Carr and Frances M. (McArthur) Lentz. Her family moved to Durham, North Carolina 1933. She graduated from Durham High School in 1939 and attended Duke University and Croft’s Business College. She then worked for several years as a dental assistant.
On November 18, 1949, she married Warren S. Lamb of Willow Island at Durham, North Carolina. She and Warren moved to Gothenburg and Mary Gene resided there until her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for over 75 years and throughout the years she was active in its organizations: Sunday school, choir and women’s groups. She was a member of Chapter AW PEO and participated in various civic activities: Girl Scouts, Library Board, United Way, Bloodmobile and Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed her bridge club as well as her coffee groups and Hilltop Birthday Club.
Mary Gene was preceded in death by her husband Warren in 1995, her parents and older brothers.
Survivors include daughters: Stacie Lamb and husband John Christensen of Omaha and Sheri Lamb of Gretna, sisters-in-laws: Dean Lentz of Fayetteville, NC, Ruth White of Lexington and Barbara Stull of Gothenburg and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, July 24, 2012 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 6-8 pm.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 9:30 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg United Methodist Church, 1401 Lake Ave., Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Dee (Diehl) Bartlett
July 10, 1958 - July 21, 2012
Dee Ann Diehl-Bartlett, 54, of North Platte, Nebraska, died July 21, 2012 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE following a battle with cancer.
She was born July 10, 1958 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Bill and DeDe (Sherman) Diehl. She grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School, class of 1976. She lived in the area, Gothenburg, Willow Island and most recently, North Platte. She worked at various jobs in the Gothenburg and Cozad area. She enjoyed cooking, crochet and loving her grandchildren with all of her heart.
Surviving are son, Taylor (Andrea) Armstrong of Ashland, NE; parents, Bill and DeDe Diehl, grandson, James Armstrong, granddaughter, Jocelyn and Jaley Armstrong, brothers, Scott (Pam) Diehl and Kenny (Lisa) Diehl of Brady, NE along with many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Dee was preceded in death by sister, Kathy Bockus, first husband, Jim Armstrong, nephew, Justin Bockus, grandparents, Willard & Elanor Diehl, grandparents, Jim & Helen Sherman.
Book signing will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorial Services will be held on Aug. 7, 2012 at 10:30 am at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Robert Litzenburger officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed Dee's Grandchildren's College Fund c/o Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Nathan Wesley Kirkpatrick
December 26, 1968 - August 6, 2012
Nathan Wesley Kirkpatrick, 43, of North Glenn, Colorado, formerly of Gothenburg, NE, died August 6, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center, North Glenn, CO.
He was born December 26, 1968 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Dennis and Susan (Trumble) Kirkpatrick.
He grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1987. He played football and basketball in high school. Nathan took basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center and was assigned at San Diego Naval Base. Nathan served his country in the US Navy from July 1987 to January 1990. Nathan enjoyed snow skiing, playing cribbage, and hunting.
Nathan never let the accident he was in take away his life. He was able to enjoy the Winter Park handicap snow skiing, kayaking, and white water rafting. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing cribbage and poker, which he was very good at. Nathan had friends that came and took him to Rockies, Nuggets and Broncos games. He was even able to come back to Gothenburg for his 10 year high school class reunion. Nathan loved KISS, he was able to go to several of their concerts. Nathan was even a movie star, he was an extra on a made for TV movie while at Learning Services in Lakewood, CO.
Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Susan Kirkpatrick of Gothenburg, brothers Dorian (Sarah) Kirkpatrick of Peyton, CO; Nicholas Kirkpatrick of Denver, CO; nephew, Kaleb Kirkpatrick and niece Kaitlyn Kirkpatrick, aunts & uncles, cousins and extended family.
Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, two aunts, and two cousins.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, August 13, 2012 at 10:30 am with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Inurnment will follow in the Fort McPherson National cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Boy Scouts Troop 177.

Doris Brosius
February 6, 1921 - August 26, 2012
Doris Agnes Brosius, 91, of Brady, Nebraska, died August 26, 2012 in Lincoln, NE.
She was born February 6, 1921 in Geneva, NE, daughter of William John and Marcella Kathryn (Sullivan) Marson.
Doris grew up at Geneva, NE and attended school graduating from Geneva High School. Doris moved to the sandhills as a young lady where she taught school in a one room school house in Gandy. It was at Gandy where she met her husband Bernard. She married Bernard Brosius on February 22, 1941 at Geneva, NE. After their marriage, Bernard and Doris moved to Brady Island where they lived and ranched all of their lives. Doris was a busy ranch wife and mother to their five children. She made many meals and pies for the cowboys and ranch hands. Doris was an avid member of the Catholic Altar Society, the Red Hat Society, the Brady Card Club, TOPS, and 4-H leader. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading them books. She enjoyed music, dancing, painting and needlepoint. She volunteered at Saint Peter's Catholic School in Lincoln and in her daughter Corrine's 6th grade class in Gothenburg.
Survivors include two sons - Michael (Kathy) Brosius of North Platte, NE, John (Debby) Brosius of Rossmoor, CA; two daughters - Marsha (Jim) Hecox of Gothenburg, NE, Denise (Roger) Meeks of Lincoln, NE; son-in-law William Auld of Gothenburg; seven granddaughters - Lisa (Jay) Lake, Rebecca (Erich) Hohl, Michaela (Mike Donohoe) Brosius, Tina (David) Ramirez, Anne Auld, Elizabeth (Chad) Krings, Morgan Meeks; three grandsons - John Hecox, Sam Auld and Barret Meeks; seven great grandchildren - Jacob, Lauren, John, and Natalie Hohl, Connor and Mason Lake, Garrett Krings; five sisters - Wilma Miller of Geneva, NE, Wilmetta Roth of Denver, CO, Victoria (Frank) Mulvey of San Diego, CA, Frances Domenico of Denver, CO, Mary Ann Marson of Denver, CO; three brother-in-laws - Vernon (Karen) Brosius of Stapleton, Bill Brosius of Colorado Springs, CO, Kenneth Brosius of Stapleton; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Doris was preceded in death by husband, Bernard Benedict Brosius, daughter, Corrine Auld, parents, sister, Kathryn Murray, brother-in-laws, Don Miller, Jerry Roth, Vincent Domenico, Phil Breen, sister-in-laws, Donna Brosius, Irene Brosius, Mary Brosius, and Helen Breen.
Visitation: Thursday, August 30, 2012, 1:00 PM-7:30 PM, Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE with the family present from 5:30-7:30.
Rosary: Thursday, August 30, 2012, 7:30 PM, Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, August 31, 2012, 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, NE, with Father Don O'Brien officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, NE 69138 or Brady Community Library.

Lorene Wildes
June 7, 1917 - July 24, 2012
Lorene A. Wildes, 95, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 24, 2012 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.
She was born June 7, 1917 on the family farm, near Cozad, NE, daughter of John W. and Selma (Erikson) Bellstrom. She grew up in the Gothenburg/Cozad communities. She attended Dawson County Middle 2 School through 8th grade and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1935.
Lorene earned her RN in 1945 and her BSN in 1959. She was a dedicated nurse and worked in various nursing roles including outpatient, Central Supply, the Red Cross Blood Mobile and was a supervisor of Public Health Nursing. She worked for many years in the Omaha area and was a member of the ANA in Minnesota, Maryland and Nebraska. She was a member of the Center Baptist Church in Omaha. Lorene enjoyed visiting friends, researching, reading, writing, and traveling.
Survivors include her six nephews, Stanley E. (Patricia) Youngberg of Woodbridge, CT; C. Edward (Janet) Youngberg of Evergreen, CO; Robert J. Youngberg of Lakewood, CO; Roger (Linda) Tederman, Michael (Vicki) Tederman, Terry (Jean) Tederman all of Omaha, NE; two nieces, Roberta L. (Robert) Wilson of Hershey, NE; Mary Ann (Ron) Sobon of Omaha, NE; her great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents John and Selma Bellstrom, sister Gladyce M. Youngberg and brother H.O. "Bob" Tederman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 1:00 -8:00 with the family present from 6-8 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 1002 Ave C, Gothenburg, NE; Friday, July 27, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Bill Ivey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to Center Baptist Church, 2111 S. 41st St., Omaha, NE 68105.
