Doris J. Craig
June 19, 1921 - October 15, 2012
Doris J. Craig, 91, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 15, 2012 at Hilltop Estates, Gothenburg, NE.
She was born June 19, 1921 in Custer County, NE, daughter of Martin and Amanda (Maline) Larson.
Doris graduated from Gothenburg High in 1937. She worked for Clyde Loutsenheiser and Tri County as a secretary. On March 16, 1947 Doris married Ralph Craig. They lived in Ord, NE, where Doris worked in Valley County Court House. While living there, a son William M Craig was born, he passed away two days later and was buried in the Ord cemetery. They bought a Gamble Store in Crawford, NE and were there for five years. Ralph worked for the Game and Parks so they moved to Chappell and later to Ogallala. They later purchased a farm near Maxwell and moved there.
Doris was active in the Brady Methodist Church. She belonged to the Hill and Valley Extension Club and Westerners in North Platte. She was a member of Chapter EB PEO, where she served in various offices including president. She also was active in the Scandinavian Heritage group in Gothenburg.
Surviving are brother, Mike (Marian) Larson of Gothenburg, along with many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by husband, Ralph L. Craig, her parents, her infant son William, two sisters and their husbands - Yvonnne (Don) McClellen and Marilyn (Burton) Ristine.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, October 18, 2012 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, October 19, 2012 at 10:30 am with Rev. Janie Freeman and Rev. Scott McClellen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to The Gideons International, PO Box 133, Gothenburg, NE 69138 or the Brady United Methodist Church, PO Box 96, Brady, NE 69123.

Kathleen Joy Meredith
September 16, 1950 - October 22, 2012
Kathleen Joy Meredith, 62, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 22, 2012 at her home in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born September 16, 1950 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Edwin "Bud" and Kathryn Joy (Doukas) Lindstedt.
Kathleen was a member of Theta Rho, Girl Scouts, Elks Club, Relay for Life, Nebraska Kidney Association. She enjoyed college, crocheting, reading, computer, spending time with family. She lived in Kansas; Colorado, and Nebraska. Kathleen worked as a cook at Slack's Nursing Home, waitress, Monroe's and Deli cook at Wal-Mart.
She married Roger Roy Meredith on November 29, 1990 at Gothenburg, NE.
Survivors include her husband Roger; daughter Angela (James) Bowyer; three sons - Victor (Sandra) Bevard Jr., Joseph (Holly) Bevard, Edwin (Kim) McDonald; three step-sons - Ryan (Cheri) Meredith, Scott (Becki) Meredith, Kenny (Dawn) Meredith; sister - Bonnie (Marvin) Howell; brother - Kent Lindstedt; 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents Bud & Kate Lindstedt, grandparents - John and Minnie Doukus, grandparents - Alfred and Clara Lindstedt.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, October 25, 2012 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 am with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Elaine Grasz
February 12, 1967 - October 25, 2012
Elaine Joyce Grasz went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 25, 2012 as a result of an auto accident near Maxwell, NE.
She was born February 12, 1967 in Gothenburg, NE, the daughter of Dale and Kathryn (Duffey) Hild.
Elaine grew up on the family farm north of Brady. She attended Wild Horse Valley country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Brady High School with the class of 1985. She attended Chadron State College for one year and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration/Accounting in the spring of 1997 from Mid Plains Community College in North Platte. On August 8, 1987 she married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Terry Allen Grasz at Svea Dal Covenant Church. They were blessed with two sons, Tyrel Austin, born Nov. 21, 1993 and Tad Elliot, born August 16, 2001. When Terry and Elaine first married they lived at Chapell, NE, then on a ranch south of North Platte, before moving back to Brady where they have lived since. At the time of her death Elaine was working as a bookkeeper in North Platte.
Elaine gave her life to Jesus as a teen and she and Terry were members of the Svea Dal Covenant Church in Wild Horse Valley . She was very active in the church, especially with the music. She was also involved with Brady School and helped organize and participate in the Youth Sports Programs. She was a member of Brady Lions Club and was currently serving as President. Anything her boys were participating in got her full attention and she was always willing to do what needed to be done in the community.
Survivors include her husband, Terry; parents, Dale and Kathy Hild; sons, Tyrel and Tad; brothers, Steve and his wife Gerri, Keith and his wife Brandi; sister, Jeaninne and her husband Duane Davis; nieces, Autumn and Adrianna Hild; Robin and Reanna Davis; Bryleigh Hild; nephews Dalton Mays, Dewey (Jaimee), Cody and Brandon (Amber) Davis; her father-in-law, Vic Grasz; brothers-in-law, Travis (Pam) and Troy Grasz; and sister-in-law Kiley. She is also survived by very special uncles, aunts and especially her "Buzzin Cuzzins" as well as many other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Ada Duffey and Phillip and Elva Hild and mother-in-law Dixie Grasz.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, November 11, 2012 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 2-4..
Funeral Services will be held at Brady High School Gym, November 12, 2012 at 10:30 am with Pastor Ken Sawyer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Svea Dal cemetery, Brady, Nebraska.

Toni Lee Reynolds
October 22, 1961 - October 27, 2012
Toni Lee Reynolds, 51, of Farnam, Nebraska, died October 27, 2012 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg.
Toni was born October 22, 1961 in Gothenburg, NE, to Dean G. and Phyllis (Heath) Reynolds.
Toni attended school in Farnam and graduated from Farnam High School in 1983. She enjoyed shopping, the outdoors and football. Toni enjoyed using her computer where she made calendars and cards. She also had a special love for cats.
Toni is survived by her mother Phyllis Reynolds of Farnam; brother Monte Reynolds of Farnam, NE; uncle, Donald (Evelyn) Heath of Farnam, NE; and other extended family and friends.
Toni was preceded in death by her father, Dean G. Reynolds, two brothers Scott and Brett Reynolds, an aunt Lois Widick, uncles Keith Reynolds and Clayton Heath, and her grandparents, C.A. and Elizabeth (Gewecke) Reynolds and Roy and Lena (Knoedler) Heath.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, October 31, 2012; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, November 1, 2012 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Farnam cemetery, Farnam, NE.
Memorials may be given to the Donor's Choice.

Dennis Lee Krantz
November 8, 1943 - October 29, 2012
Dennis Lee Krantz, 68, of Farnam, Nebraska, died October 29, 2012 at his home in Farnam, NE following a brief illness.
He was born November 8, 1943 in Aurora, IL, son of Roscoe and Rosetta (Horton) Krantz.
Denny grew up in a small farming community in eastern Illinois. He lived in Illinois, Wyoming, and Nevada before making his home in Farnam, NE. He spent many years working as a cow boss on large range ranches. He also was an over-the-road trucker for many years. Denny enjoyed trucks, ranching and spending time with friends.
Surviving are his life partner, Lucinda Robinson of Farnam, NE; brother Earl (Pat) Krantz, and sister Pam (Woody) Bates.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard (Bonnie) Krantz.

Otto Eilert Franzen
Born: January 10, 1927 - Death: October 31, 2012
Otto E. Franzen, 85, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 31, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Otto Eilert Franzen was born on January 10, 1927 in Gothenburg to Eilert and Gesina Schmidt Franzen.
He graduated country school and farmed with his family. In April 1952, he married Marie Litchenberg in Gothenburg. Otto served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Upon returning to Gothenburg, he and Marie welcomed four children into their union - Charlotte, James, Wayne and Celeste. After Marie’s passing in 1968, Otto married Lois Hickenbottom on April 1, 1969 in Callaway. Along with Lois came four more children -Tim, Steve, Jim and Molly Lange. And born to this union was their son, Eric.
Otto worked at Monroe Auto Equipment from 1970- 1979. But the majority of his life was spent farming. He was one of them that said once farming gets in your blood, it stays there for a lifetime. He didn’t fully retire until the couple sold the farm and moved into Gothenburg in 2005. Otto was a stickler for a beautiful lawn, and didn’t allow just anyone to help tend to it. As the kids grew up, moved on and raised families of their own, Otto and Lois turned their attention to raising their four-legged kids. Until their passing, Angel, Pebbles and Bobo were the most loved and spoiled critters on this earth.
In addition to his parents, Otto was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Bodtke; first wife, Marie; granddaughter and grandson Natasha and Zachary Franzen; and several in-laws.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lois, and children Charlotte (Tom) Tauche, Colorado Springs, CO; James (Laura) Franzen, Lincoln; Tim (Patty) Lange, Grand Island, Wayne (Duane Woutzke) Franzen, Wymore, NE; Steve (DeAnna) Lange, Callaway; Celeste (Larry Miller), Cahokia, IL; Jim (Katy) Lange, Healy, KS, Molly Lange, Grand Island; and Eric (Tia) Franzen, Grand Island; sisters, Lucille Sommers, MO, Alvina Krueger, Gilead, NE; Evelyn Waltman, Ord, NE; brother Marvin (Jill) Franzen, Gothenburg; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews,and the four-legged twins, Abby and Laci.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, November 02, 2012 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 6-8 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, November 3, 2012 at 10:00 am with Pastor Tom Wilson, Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.
Interment will follow in the American Lutheran cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg American Legion or Donor's Choice.

Ray J. Ostendorf
July 13, 1932 - November 6, 2012
Ray Junior Ostendorf, 80, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 6, 2012 in Gothenburg, NE.
He was born July 13, 1932 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Ray E. and Dorothy (Spencer) Ostendorf .
Ray grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High with the class of 1952. He lived in Gothenburg all of his life except for when he lived in Idaho (1960-62). He married Helen Bihlmaier in 1956 at Cozad. To this union four children were born: Shirley, Peggy, Becky and Alan. Ray worked for Dawson County Department of Roads as heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, cards, and gardening. He enjoyed spending time on his hobby farm with horses, pigs, calves, and all kinds of birds and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ostendorf of Gothenburg, NE, three daughters - Shirley Ostendorf of Lincoln, NE; Peggy and husband Terry Fogelstrom of Kent, WA; Becky and husband Scott Ontjes of Kansas City, MO; one son Alan and wife Carol Ostendorf of Broken Bow, NE; his twin sister Faye June and husband Carl Schmeeckle of Gothenburg, NE; brother Henry Roger and wife Margaret Ostendorf of Henderson, NV; seven grand children, and two great grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two half sisters, Vera Starks and Faith Henslee.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, November 08, 2012 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church, November 9, 2012 at 10:30 am with Pastor Bill Ivey officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Fern M Wills
November 22, 1928 - November 12, 2012
Fern Marie (Russell) Wills, 83 of Curtis, NE, died peacefully November 12, 2012 at Hilltop Estates after a long illness. The daughter of Benjamin Sr. and Ellen (Jenson) Russell, Fern was born November 22, 1928 north of Curtis. She graduated from NSA high school in Curtis earning a teaching certification. She was offered a teaching position in Ekalaka, MO shortly after graduation where she taught with her good friend Verna Lee Kettleman. Upon completion of her contract in Ekalaka, she returned home and taught for the Stockville School District for several years. Fern married Leslie (Deac) Wills November 26, 1952 in a double wedding with their best friends, Hilda and Lloyd (Gus) Wolgamott. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Monte Marie, Sandra Lynn, Russell Corwin and Gary Merle.
After her children were all in school, Fern worked at several jobs including selling Playhouse Toys, proof reading and subscription sales at the Highline Enterprise, and cooking and driving school bus at Medicine Valley High School. Fern especially enjoyed her time with her bus kids, both on route and activity trips.
Fern was a long time member of the United Methodist Church in Curtis and was active in Methodist Women, Vacation Bible School and Congregational Care. Fern’s strong faith and willingness to serve was instilled in her children at an early age.
Fern was preceded in death by her husband Deac, her parents, Ben and Ellen Russell, and her brothers and sisters, Robert Russell, Nita Anderson, Ben Russell Jr and June McGinnis. She is survived by her children Monte Kotrous (Val) of Houston, TX, Sandy Wills, Rusty Wills(Shelly), and Gary Wills (Vivian) all of Curtis; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, brothers and sister, Tom Russell , Anna May Gorley, Raymond Russell(Donna), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, Nebraska; Monday, November 26, 2012 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church - Curtis, November 27, 2012 at 10:00 am with Forney, Bonnie officiating.
Interment will follow in the Curtis cemetery, Curtis, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, 402 Center Curtis, NE 69025 or Medicine Valley Foundation.
