Richard Isackson
Born: October 26, 1927 - Death: May 6, 2014
Richard Gene Isackson, 86, of Brady, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2014 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born October 26, 1927 at the Isackson farm home in Wild Horse Valley to Anton and Adena (Larson) Isackson. He attended Spannuth grade school and graduated from Brady High School in 1945. He was the last remaining member of his class.
Richard spent all of his life farming and ranching in the Wild Horse Valley. He married Maxine Bridgman in 1961 at the First Methodist Church in North Platte, NE. They had two sons, Randall and Scott. Richard was a member of Svea Dal Church located in the valley, the Elks and American Legion; he was an avid Husker fan. He enjoyed watching the abundant wild life and took pride in his cattle.
Richard is survived by his wife, Maxine of 53 years; his sons Randall (Dee) of Gothenburg and Scott of Overton; three grandchildren: Zane (Julie) of Gibbon; Bryce of Omaha; Katrina (Brandon) Carter of Gothenburg ; four great grandchildren, Tessa & Claire Carter, Caleb and Landon Isackson; along with nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Elmer Wayne and a nephew Steve Kirk.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, May 11, 2014 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 3-5.
Funeral Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:30 am with Pastor Ken Sawyer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be directed to the Svea Dal Evangelical Covenant, 1676 Svea Dal Road, Brady, NE 69123 or Donors Choice.

Gretchen Furrow
May 6, 2014 - May 6, 2014
Gretchen Joan Furrow, infant daughter of Craig and Nichole Furrow was born and died on May 6, 2014 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital due to the birth defect Anencephaly.
Gretchen was very active at night and loved her 3 a.m. visits with mom. She liked to listen to music, hear the cat purr and listen to Disney Princess stories. She liked to go places with her mom and take naps. After she was born, she loved hugs & kisses, she was very vocal and ticklish.
Surviving are her parents Craig and Nichole Furrow of Gothenburg, NE; brother, Gabriel Hagan of Gothenburg, NE; grandparents; Spencer & Dona Knauss, Rodney & Pam Gage, Gene & Nellie Furrow, Amber Hagan; great grandparents, Hazel Furrow, Arlena Nicholson, Judy Gruber, Rodger & Patty Fenstermacher Kenneth & Ruth Gage; aunts, Cari (Henry Cook) Furrow, Ashley (Chance Williams) Furrow, Kayla (Shadoe Studnicka) Furrow, Carrick Fenstermacher, Kaycia Hagan, Belle Hagan, Misty Gage, Jessica Gage; uncle, Clinton Furrow; great aunt & uncles, Pam & Shane Harlin, Mike & Shannon Dickman, Jerome Gage & Bernice Chen, Dave & Joda Schroeder, David & Crista Lee, Kenny & Natalie Furrow, Brett & Charleen Wolf, Andy & Amy Jensen; great aunts, Tina Bridges, Barb Ehrlich, Kathy McMurtry; great uncles, Todd Bridges, Donny (Austin) Furrow; great great grandparents, Kenneth and Ruth Gage, Lloyd & Cleao Connell, Violet Bissell; cousin, Ivan Roberts.
Gretchen was preceded in death by grandpa, Tom Hagan, great grandma, Bev Hagan, great grandpa, Virgil Furrow, great grandpa, Bob Gruber, great uncle, Ivan Bridges.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 10:30 am.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery Babyland, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given in Memory of Gretchen to the family.

Gordon McKim
August 14, 1941 - May 8, 2014
Gordon L. McKim, 72, of Cozad, Nebraska, died May 8, 2014 in North Platte, NE.
He was born August 14, 1941 in Gothenburg, NE, son of James Newton McKim and Nina Nellie McKim .
Gordon lived at Beatrice, NE before moving to Cozad. Gordon made his home at South Central in Cozad. He loved music and loved being sung to. He enjoyed people watching, greeting people and hugs. He going to dances and movies. He enjoyed classic cars and being outdoors. Wearing hats was a recent enjoyment.
Surviving are brother, David (Mary) McKim; two sisters, Alice (Don) Leggott, Jeannine (Bill) Miller; along with 5 nieces and nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by father, James Newton McKim, mother, Nina Nellie McKim, sister, Betty Marchand.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Saturday, May 10, 2014 12:00 pm.
Graveside Services will be held at Gothenburg cemetery, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Memorials may be given to the South Central, 821 J St, Cozad, NE 69130.

Harold Tweedy
The funeral for Harold W. Tweedy, 71, of Leshara will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Evangelical Covenant Church in Mead.
He died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at his home.
Tweedy was born in Center. He attended country schools near Center. He went to work at an early age to support the family when his father became ill. He married Arbus "June" Pritchett on May 5, 1952, in Vermillion, S.D. In 1958, he broke his neck in a car accident and was not expected to walk again, but he did and went back to work. He lived in the Bristlow area before moving to Saunders County in 1960. He was a longtime manager of Brown & Brown Alfalfa Mills at Leshara until retiring in 1992.
Survivors include: three sons, Calvin (and wife, Lori) Tweedy of Emerson, Melvin (and wife, Tammy) Tweedy of Concorde and Fred Tweedy of Leshara; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Steve) Lawson of Washington, Iowa, and Joan (Mrs. Bill) Griff of Leshara; three sisters, Darlene (Mrs. Marvin) LaCroix of Yankton, S.D., Delores LaCroix of Crofton and Sharon (Mrs. Lawrence) Kaiser of Ceresco; two brothers, Kenneth Tweedy of Wahoo and Richard (and wife, Norma) Tweedy of Omaha; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and three sisters.
The Rev. Lyle Person will officiate Fridays service. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Burial will be in Pleasant View cemetery in Leshara.

David Langer
David B. Langer, 48, of Lincoln, formerly of Fremont, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at his parents home in Fremont.
Langer was born Sept. 28, 1955, in Fremont. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1973 graduate of Fremont High School. He attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont and graduated from St. Marys College in Omaha. For the past 25 years, he had lived in Lincoln and worked for Time Warner in the construction department.
Survivors include: his parents, John and Wilma (Osmera) Langer of Fremont.
A private family service will be Saturday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Richard Meyer of The Presbyterian Church in Fremont officiating. There is no visitation. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and the Arthritis Foundation.

Maxine Schulz
August 27, 1923 - May 10, 2014
E. Maxine Schulz, 90, of Holdrege, Nebraska, (formerly of Gothenburg) died May 10, 2014 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, NE.
She was born August 27, 1923 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Andrew and Esther (Peterson) Swan .
Maxine was baptized and confirmed at Evangelical Free Church. Maxine married Norbert Adolph Schulz on March 25, 1948 in Gothenburg. She attended grade school at School District # M2 in Dawson County and graduated from Gothenburg High School and then attended Kearney State College. After college she taught schools for 14 years in Dawson County and also worked 14 years in an office in Cozad. She was a member of retired teachers for many years, and a member of Gothenburg Evangelical Free Church and the local FCWM. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, reading, and cooking for her family. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and many dear friends.
She is Survived by her two sons, Steve (Renee) Schulz of Holdrege and Mark Schulz of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Florence Swan, Jewel Schulz, Dolores Schulz, Elaine (John) Brown, Myrna (Milford) Bratten, and Vera Wolf; six grandchildren, Aaron Schulz (Marybeth ), Lane Schulz, Jordan Schulz, Jesse Schulz (fiancé Taylor), Brendon Schulz, and Rebecca Schulz. And many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Norbert Adolph Schulz, her parents, brother Melvin Swan, brothers-in-law Virgil Schulz , Milton Schulz and Louis Wolf and daughter-in-law, Jodi Schulz
Visitation will be held at Evangelical Free Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, May 13, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
Services will be held at Evangelical Free Church, May 14, 2014 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Nathaniel Gustafson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church Building Fund, 1721 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Helen Block
September 29, 1928 - May 12, 2014
Helen Virginia Block, 85, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 12, 2014 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born September 29, 1928 in Cozad, NE, daughter of Alfred and Catharine (Onskt) Richey.
Helen graduated from Cozad High School, and attended Teacher's College in Kearney. She taught country school near Cozad for four years. Helen married Virgil Block on July 3, 1949 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Cozad. She worked as a retail clerk at W.J. O'Connor's, A & L Variety and Ben Franklin for many years. Helen was a member of a Women's Extension Club and AAL (Thrivent for Lutherans). As a young teenager, she also volunteered at the North Platte Canteen. She enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, bingo and reading. She loved having company and spending time with her grandkids.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne Sitorius of San Luis Obispo, CA, Joyce (Norv) Kolbo of Gothenburg, NE; son, Steve (Beth) Block of Steele City, NE; four grandsons, Jeremy and Tricia Sitorius of Gothenburg, NE, Todd and Heidi Block of Fremont, NE, Lathen Block of Steele City, NE, Lyndon Block of Steele City, NE; three granddaughters, Jennifer and David Campa of San Luis Obispo, CA, Amy and James Headley of Gothenburg, NE, Karabeth Block of Fremont; three great-granddaughters, Kenidi Campa of San Luis Obispo, CA, Nataleagh Sitorius of Gothenburg, NE, Liliana Sitorius of Gothenburg, NE; three great-grandsons, Colton Campa of San Luis Obispo, CA, Joseph Headley of Gothenburg, NE, Benjamin Headley of Gothenburg, NE; three step grandsons, Scott Kolbo, Chad and his sons Trey & Zach Kolbo, Dirk (fiancée Kay Kaczor) Kolbo; step granddaughter, Angie and her children Dalton and Shelby Johnston; along with extended family and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil Richard Block in 1982, three sisters - Vivian Kerr, Harriet Richey, Martha Richey; brother, George Richey.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, May 15, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 5-7.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Friday, May 16, 2014 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Private Interment will follow in the American Lutheran "Christ" cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the American Lutheran Church, 1512 F, Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Yvonne Dahlgren
January 24, 1936 - May 12, 2014
Yvonne Jean Dahlgren, 78, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Cozad, NE.
Yvonne was born January 24, 1936 to Ross and Lena (Luke) Thompson in Johnstown, NE. She attended high school in Gordon, NE and joined the Army in January 4th, 1954. While stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX, she married Nick Dahlgren of Gordon, NE on August 16, 1955. They had 3 children, Rick Dahlgren of Gothenburg, NE; Rona Dahlgren of Dallas, TX; and Rex Dahlgren of Ellicott City, MD.
Yvonne enjoyed tending her vegetable and flower gardens while teaching her children to do the same. She often shared her bounty with neighbors. Yvonne and her children enjoyed a variety of pets and the responsibility of caring for God’s creatures. She once bought chicks when the eggs didn’t hatch just so the sitting hen could be a mother hen. Yvonne frequently participated in leadership roles with her children’s activities in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and 4-H. She was actively involved with the Eagles and was a member of Bethel Missionary Church. Yvonne loved to sit down with a friend over a cup of coffee.
As an inspiration to her children she acquired her GED at age 43 at McCook Community College. She continued with more education at MCC that included courses in English and Computer Programming. Yvonne was proud that all three children obtained college degrees.
Even while living in the small town of Culbertson, NE for over 30 years, Yvonne continued her interest in the bigger world through reading, an interest she passed on to her children. She was always up for an adventure when visiting her children in the various cities where they lived.
Survivors include her children, Rex Dahlgren and wife Signe with children Hannah, Casey, and Emily; Rona Dahlgren and husband Dennis Schmedt; Rick Dahlgren and wife Tiffany with children Hunter, Colton, Elizabeth, Jake, and Jaden.
Yvonne’s children are grateful to the caring staff at Golden Living Center for their compassion and good humor the past 3 years.
Graveside services will be 2:30 pm, Friday, May 16, 2014 at Fort McPherson National cemetery, 12004 S. Spur 56A, Maxwell, NE.

L. Dwaine Folkers
Born: May 26, 1933 - Death: April 30, 2014
Lyle " Dwaine " Folkers, 80, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 30, 2014 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 26, 1933 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Fred and Sophia (Peterson) Folkers. Dwaine graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1950 and was soon called to duty in the United States Army in 1953 at the end of the Korean War. He was stationed with the 32nd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade in Upper Heyford, England. During his service in the army he married Donna Hudson of Lexington, NE on August 15, 1953 in Las Cruces, NM. After discharge, CPL. Dwaine and Donna moved to the family farm where they began building their family and farming career.
Dwaine worked at the Gothenburg Haymill and K&K Appliances before becoming a life long farmer.
He was a lifetime member of American Lutheran Church of Gothenburg and served as a church councilman, lifetime member of American Legion and VFW.
Dwaine also enjoyed being a part of the Ampride Coffee Club in Gothenburg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Donna of Gothenburg; son, Doug (Marcia) Folkers of Littleton, Colorado, daughter, Penny Thorman of Gothenburg; son, Scott (Christy) Folkers of Kearney, NE; one sister Margaret Davis of Squaw Valley, CA; 12 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and two coming down the road.
Dwaine was preceded in death by a son Craig, and his parents and two brothers Wilber and Walt Gerdes.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, May 04, 2014 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 2-4 pm.
Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:30 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the American Lutheran Church, or Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Dept.
