Jamie Ness
Jamie Lyne (Fager) Ness, 51, was born on June 20, 1961, in Omaha, and died Jan. 15, 2013, at her home in Omaha. Jamie was the daughter of Darwin and Carol Fager. She was joined by sisters, Jill and Stacy, and brother, John. Jamie grew up in Omaha and enjoyed riding bikes, swimming at the neighborhood pool, camping and playing with friends. She liked traveling all over the United States with her family on vacations.
Jamie attended Norris Elementary School, Central Junior High School and Millard High School. She worked hard and graduated a year early from Millard High School in 1978. She was united in marriage to Doug Ness in 1981 and to that union, Kristen Angela was born. Jamie was a stay-at-home mom while living with her family in Elkhorn, Neb. She liked to keep a clean house and enjoyed landscaping and gardening. Car pooling and providing day care to other children were all part of her world. She began working for State Farm during this time.
In 1989 she took a position at Hyatt Hotels and worked there until December 2012. This job gave Jamie more opportunities to travel. She liked the ocean and the mountains. One of her proudest accomplishments was traversing Ophir Pass in Colorado in her Jeep with her mom in the passenger seat.
Kristen gave birth to two sons, Ryan and Dane. Jamie took on the new role of "Grandma" with gusto. She enjoyed spending spare time with the boys. She taught Ryan the importance of being an honorable man, having faith in God and conservative values. She would call him most nights to say his bedtime prayers and in the morning to wish him a "wonderful day!" Ryan was the second child that she never had. When Kristen was pregnant with Dane, she set her goal to stick around long enough to meet him. When she reached that goal, she set another goal to live long enough that he would remember her. She would do anything to spend time with her boys! Even when her health made her very weak, Jamie would never pass up an opportunity for time with them. Jamie was a "super grandma!" She would often talk about the cute things they said or did as any proud grandparent would.
Jamie was an aunt to seven nieces and nephews. They all talk about how she spoiled them with snacks and let them stay up past their bed time. She played and acted silly with them and appreciated each one of them for the traits they individually possessed.
Jamie had a quiet and steadfast faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She studied her Bible diligently looking for God's plan and direction for her life. Until the end, Jamie described the golden thread that went from her heart up to God. She said "That thread is hope." She never gave up hope. After a nearly six year battle with ovarian cancer, Jamie died in her home surrounded by family.
Jamie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harvey Fager, Korwin Korb, Dorothy Korb, Edna Fager-Hall and Virgil Hall.
Jamie is survived by her daughter, Kristen Harry, Kristen's fiance, Matt Pelzer, and grandsons Ryan and Dane, Griswold, Iowa; mother, Carol and stepfather, Gary Garman, Burr Oak; father, Darwin and stepmother, Marlene Fager, Omaha; sister, Jill, and husband, Troy Roll, Springfield, Neb.; sister, Stacy Sliva, LaVista, Neb.; brother, John Fager, Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Rachel Sliva, Jeremy Roll, Rebecca Sliva, Alissa Roll, Sam Sliva, Gracie Sliva and Autumn Fager; stepsisters, Pam Bustamonte, Colleen Ruppe and Keva Knuth; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service was held Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Heritage Hill Church of the Nazarene, Omaha, with Chaplain Paula Wallace officiating.
