Rita Kohmetscher
Rita A Kohmetscher, 83, Lawrence, Neb., died Thursday at her home in Lawrence. Rosary was Sunday, and Mass Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Loras Grell officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery.
Rita was born on Dec. 2, 1929, to Rudolph and Marie (Dolnicek) Faimon on a farm northwest of Lawrence. Rita attended Sacred Heart grade school and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1947. She taught in a country school for two years.
She married LaVern J. Kohmetscher on May 25,1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rita had worked at Friend's IGA Store, Pax-Ten, the nursing home and hospital in Red Cloud, the Blue Hill Care Center, Dutton-Lainson Co., Hastings, milked cows on a farm in the Lawrence area and did babysitting.
Rita was a volunteer at the Hope Pregnancy Center, Superior, member of Sacred Heart Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society, Sewing (quilting) circle and Rural Carriers Auxiliary. She has held many offices in these organizations, including three years as state president of the Rural Carriers Auxiliary. She was also a CCD teacher for several years. Family, gardening, flowers, quilting and going to the farm were an important part of her life.
Rita is survived by three sons; Dennis Kohmetscher, Ocoee, Fla., Kenneth Kohmetscher, Grant, Neb., and Curt Kohmetscher, Lawrence, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Kathman (Mary), Lawrence; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Robert Faimon, Blue Hill, Paul and Pat Faimon, Lawrence, Neb.; eight sisters: Mrs. Ray Juranek (Vivian), Hastings, Mrs. Stan Juranek Jr., (Angela), Crook, Colo., Mrs. Robert Novotny (Bernadette), Colorado Springs, Mrs. Elmer Rempe, (Maxine), Superior, Mrs. Albert, Herbek Jr., (Marian) Lawrence, Mrs. Adrian Menke (Maureen), Lawrence; Mrs. Howard Schroer (Agnes), Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Tom Kulek (Theresa), Hastings; one brother-in-law: Ron Buescher, Lawrence; two sisters-in-law, Martha Faimon, Lawrence, and Loraine Faimon, Lincoln, Neb. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two brothers: Harold and Arnold Faimon and one sister, Charlene Buescher.

Celia McMillan
Celia A. McMillan, 90, Beloit, died June 10, 2013.
Cecelia "Celia" Adella Koster, known as Aunt Cedy, was born on Sept. 28, 1922, in Cawker City to John and Marguerite (Jasper) Koster. She grew up in the country where her parents farmed for a living and has six brothers (all deceased) and two sisters, Lucille and Loretta (affectionately known as Bill) both deceased.
Celia attended school at St. Theresa's and graduated from St. Theresa's Academy. After high school Celia worked for awhile at Duckwall's and then for Shea and Carper. During this time Celia lived with her sister, Loretta, in an apartment in Beloit, where they attended many of the local dances. Celia met Leonard McMillan at a dance through her sister, Loretta, who already knew him. Celia said her sister had another fellow who was quieter and more her type than Leonard so Celia took him off her hands.
Celia and Leonard were married on May 19, 1956 and were married for 35 years when Leonard died in July 1991. They made their home in Randall, where Celia continued to live until coming to the Resident Care Center. Celia and Leonard didn't have any children, but Celia did have lots of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and came to visit her frequently.
Celia was a member of the Catholic Church in Jamestown until it closed, she then joined the St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit where she attended faithfully until shortly before coming to the Resident Care Center. She was active in the church where she taught CCD in Jamestown for many years and was also active in the Ladies Guild, helping out wherever she could.
Celia loved crocheting Afghans and cross stitching quilt blocks for her nieces, nephews and extended family until she was no longer able to do them.
Visitation was held at Harrison Funeral Home, Friday June 14. A vigil service and recitation of the Rosary was held at 6 p.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Beloit. Interment was in Randall cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John's Cornerstone Foundation, Solomon Valley Hospice, or donors' choice.

Virginia Erickson
Virginia Dean Erickson, 87, the daughter of Harold and Anna (Meyer) Woods, was born on March 9, 1926, in St. Louis, Ill.. She died June 11 at Heritage Club of Aurora, Colo.
On July 6, 1946, Virginia was united in marriage to LeRoy Erickson at Greensboro, N.C. To this union, two sons and a daughter were born, Bente, Stephen and Ronald. Her husband was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force retiring in 1973. Virginia was alongside her husband as he completed his tours of duty in Germany, Marshall Island, Libya, England and Vietnam. They made their home in Colorado upon his retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, LeRoy, on April 29, 1980.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Martucci (Bente) of Elizabeth, Colo., Stephen of Lincoln, Neb., and Ronald of Federal Heights, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Bob Palmer (Juanita) of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a brother, William Woods, of Lebanon, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
Her funeral was held Sunday at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Jocelyn Tupper officiated. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Superior.

Arden Christiansen
Arden Donovan Christiansen,81, the son of Ray and Annette (Andersen) Christiansen, was born Feb. 12, 1932, on a farm near Hardy. He died Thursday at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings.
Arden attended Weimer rural school just down the road from his childhood home. He farmed on the family farm with his father and later was employed at Mid-America Dairymen in Superior and the Green Thumb program in Hastings.
His main enjoyment in life was traveling to various states with his parents and driving through the countryside. Later his transportation became his bicycle which he road long distances each day around the community to observe the various seasons of agriculture and follow community developments. He daily found joy in monitoring the weather, enjoying the beautiful sunsets as well as the stars and constellations. His family was important to him.
He was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin.
He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Christensen, of Lincoln, Neb.; nieces and nephews, Doyle Christensen of Superior Mrs. Larry Judy (Dorcas) of Ruskin, Rogene Gay of Hastings, Randy Christensen of Ogallala and Mrs. Bob Healey (Rhonda) of Kearney.
His funeral was held Saturday at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin with Pastor Evelyn Phillips officiating.
Pallbearers were Doyle Christensen, Randy Christensen, Larry Judy, Bob Healey, Jed Renz and Brian Judy. Interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery near Ruskin. Megrue Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Wauhnetta Gebers
Wauhnetta Margaret Gebers, 80, the daughter of Herman and Rosaline (Oldigs) Hespen, was born Sept. 9, 1932, near Deshler. She died Friday at Brodstone Memorial Hospital.
Wauhnetta attended school in Thayer County Nebraska. Wauhnetta married Clarence E. Gebers on June 18, 1950, at Peace Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born.
She was a 56-year member of the Salem Lutheran Church. She lived in the communities of Deshler, Nora and Superior. Together they farmed for a few years in the Deshler area and then moved to Nora where they owned and operated the Nora Grocery. She was postmistress at the Nora Post Office. She was custodian of the Salem Lutheran Church for 42 years. She volunteered at the Nuckolls County Museum, was a member of the Nora Coffee Club and the Nora County Election Board. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, reading and walking. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews all received quilts or afghans as gifts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Raymond Hespen; and a sister, Velma Fintel.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence of Superior; her daughter, Mrs. Doug Corman (Debra) of Grand Island; and a son Dennis Gebers, of Superior; five grandchildren, Jason Corman of Queen Creek, Ariz., Nathan Corman of Grand Island, Lorrie Corman of Omaha, Tyson and Carly Gebers of Superior; three great-grandchildren, Cash, Elyot and Atleigh Corman, of Grand Island; by five sisters, Lovetta Weiss of Lincoln, Neb., Darlene Wiger of Minnesota, Rachel Skeahan of Arkansas, Mrs. Arnold Ehlers (Loxie) of Nebraska City, and Ruth Gray of Lincoln, Neb.
Her funeral was held Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church. Pastors Don and Margaret Olsen officiated. Burial: was in the Salem Lutheran cemetery. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marcia Kottmeyer
Marcia Nadine Kottmeyer, 79, the daughter of Perry and Thelma (Busey) Roe, was born on April 22, 1934, southwest of Webber. She died Saturday at Superior Good Samaritan Center.
She attended the Jackson Center School through the fifth grade. Then she attended the Webber School through her eighth grade year. She attended and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1952. While in high school, she met Richard Kottmeyer and they were married on June 1, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Webber. This union was blessed with four children, Cindy, Bradley, Kent and Mike.
Most of her life was spent fixing meals and doing for her children and grandchildren. She also had a passion and talent for creating jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; infant son Bradley; and a daughter-in-law, Tracy Kottmeyer. She is survived by her children, Mrs. Doug Botham (Cindy) of Merriam, Kan., Kent of Superior, and Mike of Salina; her grandchildren, Sean McCord, and his son, Marcia's great-grandson, Alexander of Kansas City, Ryan McCord, also of Kansas City, Kansas, Amy Kottmeyer of Kearney, Terry and Jonathan Gilbert of Kansas and Colorado,
Her funeral was held Wednesday at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Diehl officiated. Burial was in the Salem Lutheran cemetery.

Jeanette Gentert
Jeanette Gentert, 61, of Minden, was born in Hastings on Feb. 12, 1952, to Harold and Roselie (Richey) Gentert. She died last Wednesdayat the Kearney County Health Care Center in Minden.
Growing up she lived in the Hastings and Harvard areas until moving to the Beatrice State Home at the age of 8. During her 20s she moved back to Hastings. Later she moved to Superior where she had her own apartment. After a fall, she was a resident of the nursing home in Campbell and most recently in Minden.
She did contract work through Mid-Nebraska Individual Services putting together components. Jeanette enjoyed shopping and outdoor activities such as camping, boating and fishing. She was friendly and liked dogs. While in Superior, Jeanette attended Sunday school at the Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dean Haskin and Charles Haskin; and a sister, Roseanna Pritts.
Jeanette is survived by a brother, Don Gentert of Hastings; sisters, Mrs. Karl Ditzenberger (Judy) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sharon Conklin of Hastings, cousins and guardians, Nancy Gray of Campbell, and Kathy Wiseman of Kearney.
A private family graveside inurnment will be held for Jeanette in the Rulo cemetery, Rulo, Neb.

Rose Marie McKeown
Rose Marie McKeown, 83, the daughter of David and Ethelyn (Russell) Demaray, was born on Aug. 19, 1929, at her family home northeast of Burr Oak. She died June 16, at the Superior Good Samaritan Center.
She attended country school near Burr Oak and graduated from Burr Oak High School. On Feb. 15, 1950, she was united in marriage to T. Keith McKeown at their home three miles south of Superior in Jewell County. She lived in the Holmwood Township growing up and during her married life resided in the Valley View Community until moving from the family farm into Superior in 2008.
She was a member of the Webber United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Valley View Club where she served both as president. She was also a 4-H leader. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Connie Bauer.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Keith, of Superior; her children. Daniel of Webber, Dewayne of Wichita, Mrs. Gail Bartley (Lynette) of Webber, and Mrs. Kris Hoard (Susan) of Concordia; two grandchildren, Emily Marie Hoard and Madeline Grace Hoard, of Concordia.
A graveside service was held Wednesday at the Webber cemetery with Pastor Roger Walls officiating.
Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Emery Hobelman
Emery Duane Hobelman, 85, was born Aug. 30, 1927, in rural Republic County near Byron to Albert F. and Irene M. (Bostelmann) Hobelman. He died Monday at the Superior Good Samaritan Center.
Emery was bapized on Sept. 11, 1927, by Pastor Wagner at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Byron. Diedrich Abelbach and George Bostel-mann were his sponsors. He was confirmed May 3, 1942 by Pastor Paul Weltner.
Emery spent his life in the auto repair business as well as manager of service departments. He received numerous awards from General Motors for outstanding leadership. Emery's military service was with the U.S. Army as a basic instructor. In his retirement years he restored classic cars, pickups and tractors. Jan. 4, 1946, Emery married Ruth E. Topliff. Into this union were born five girls Mary, Betty, Patti, Peggy and Pam.
Emery was proceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eunice Piepho Pittack; a brother, Kenneth Hobelman; and a grandson, Jon Erickson.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Superior; daughters, Mary Shrontz of Superior, Betty Hobelman of Lovewell, Mrs. Bill Vice (Patti) of Omaha, Mrs. Kurt Saathoff (Peggy) of Waterloo, and Pam Sandman of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Paul Edwards (Denelda) of Hardy; and a brother, Gene Hobelman of Lincoln, Neb.
His funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior. Pastor Brian Earl will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Jewell County's Fairview cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Superior in charge of the arrangements.

Roger Colburn
The former operator of a Superior photography studio, Roger Colburn, 69, died Nov. 23 at his home in Campbell. His funeral was held Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Giltner with Father Marneni officiating. Burial in the Giltner Catholic cemetery.
He was born Nov. 8, 1945 in Grand Island to Fay and Helen (Preissler) Colburn. He was raised on a farm near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1964. Roger enlisted in the Army National Guard was honorably discharged in 1967. After his discharge he purchased the Mariska Studio and moved to Superior.
After leaving Superior he was employed as a truck driver in Colorado and did home repairs. During that time he married Kathy Lee Tilton. She died in 2007. In 2008, he met Nancy Gray, a Superior resident.
He enjoyed refinishing antiques and photography. His real passion was steam engines. He and Nancy and went to auctions, steam engines shows and remodeled their home in Campbell.
Survivors include his companion, Nancy Gray, sons Paul, Chris and Michael, daughters, Julia and Sarah; nine grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
