NaDene McCoy
NaDene McCoy, 84, of Wheat Ridge, Colo., formerly of Fremont, died June 11, 2003, in Wheat Ridge near her home.
NaDene Arnold was born March 9, 1919, in Lamar. She grew up in Wauneta, where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Nebraska, receiving a teaching certificate. She married J. DeForest Groff on Dec. 18, 1941. Three children were born to their marriage, Neal, Anita and Carol. The couple later divorced. She taught in elementary and country schools in the Fremont area. She moved to Denver and married Warren McCoy on Dec. 18, 1958. While raising six children, she owned and operated a fabric/sewing business, "Stick n Stretch."
She was a devoted Christian and a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. She was active with the Wheat Ridge Seniors.
Survivors include: her husband, Warren; a niece who was her caretaker, Karen Miller of Denver; five children, Carol (Groff) Muller of Fremont, Neal (and wife, Terri) Groff, Joani (Mrs. Don) Sindt, Don (and wife, Cindy) McCoy and Dave (and wife, Jean) McCoy, all of Colorado; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
A celebration of her life was held June 13 at Lakewood Church of Christ in Lakewood, Colo., with the Rev. Ralph Beck officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
A memorial has been established to Mountain States Childrens Home, P.O. Box 1097, Longmont, CO 80502-1097.
Olinger-Moore-Howard Mortuary in Wheat Ridge was in charge of arrangements.

Loretta Popken
Loretta K. Popken, 89, of Fremont died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.
Loretta Golder was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Uehling. She grew up in Uehling and attended District 67 School near Uehling and was a 1931 graduate of Uehling High School. She married Paul J. Popken on Feb. 24, 1938, in Hooper. After her marriage, the couple operated a produce service at Uehling and also farmed near Uehling. They moved to Fremont in 1944, and she worked part time at Schwesers Department Store in Fremont for several years. She and her family received the Pioneer Farm Family Award from Aksarben in 1967, for 100 years of family farm ownership. Her spouse preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1989.
She was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont, where she was a member since 1944. She also was a member of the church circle, member of "Smiles," a birthday club, and Jessie Benton Chapter, Izaak Walton League. She was a 60-year member of the Dodge County Extension Club, and she did volunteer work at her church.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kathleen (Mrs. Richard) Edwards of Fremont; and a grandson.
She also was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister and three brothers.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Del Hutton officiating. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials have been established to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fremont and the Dodge County Humane Society.

Dorothy Bogenreif
Dorothy R. Bogenreif, 79, of Fremont died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Dorothy Konecky was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Ithaca. She was a graduate of Wahoo High School and moved to Fremont in 1944. She worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead during World War II. She then worked as a receptionist for Dr. Heine in Fremont. She was a Golden Neo-Life distributor of natural vitamins.
She married Everette H. Bogenreif on Sept. 28, 1946, in Fremont. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1996.
She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont and St. Joan of Arc Circle.
Survivors include: five sons, Joseph (and wife, Kimberly) Bogenreif of Jefferson, S.D., James (and wife, Linda) Bogenreif of Lincoln, Timothy Bogenreif and Nicholas (and wife, Jean) Bogenreif, all of Fremont, and Robert Bogenreif of Omaha; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Bogenreif of Fremont; a sister, Rosanne (Mrs. Richard) Woita of Fremont; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont with the Rev. Damien Cook officiating. A vigil service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and continues one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Fremont.

Emery Breitbarth
The funeral for Emery F. Breitbarth, 84, of West Point, formerly of Pender and Bancroft, will be 11 a.m. today at St. Johns Lutheran Church in rural Pender.
He died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Pender Community Hospital in Pender.
Breitbarth was born Nov. 16, 1918, in rural Cuming County. He attended grade school in rural Cuming County.
He entered the United States Army in October 1941, serving in the Asiatic/Pacific campaigns in the South Pacific during World War II. He received the American Defense Service Medal and a Bronze Star for good conduct.
He married Phyllis Kai April 4, 1948, in Pender.
He spent the majority of his life farming near Pender before moving to Bancroft in 1979. He worked for Holmquist Elevator until retiring in 1988. In 2001, he and his wife moved to West Point.
He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. He was a member for more than 50 years of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 6928 and American Legion Post 55 of Pender.
Survivors include: his wife; three daughters, Karen (Mrs. Ron) Westerhold and Nancy (Mrs. Duane) Suhr, all of Pender and Jan (Mrs. Brad) Craig of Poncha Springs, Colo.; four brothers, Ralph (and wife, Arlie) Breitbarth of Fremont, LeRoy (and wife, Marie) Breitbarth of Pender, Harry (and wife, Elaine) Breitbarth and Art (and wife, Oma) Breitbarth, all of West Point; a sister, Edna Bettenhausen of West Point; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and an infant grandson.
The Rev. Richard Pingel will officiate todays service. Burial will be in St. Johns Lutheran Church cemetery.
Munderloh Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Herbert Charleston
The funeral for Herbert B. "Herb" Charleston, 87, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Fremont.
He died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.
He was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Fremont. He grew up in Fremont and was a 1933 graduate of Fremont High School. He attended Midland College for two years. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1935-37. He worked for the Northern Natural Gas Engineering Department for the Minnesota Division in Owatonna, Minn., from 1938-42. He moved to Canada in 1943 and worked on the AlCan Highway. He then worked for Northern Natural Gas Co. Engineer Department-Omaha in Pampa, Texas, in 1944. He returned to Fremont in 1945 and was owner of Fremont Engineering, a plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractor. He started the Herb Charleston Commercial Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning in 1956, which he operated until 1969 and then was president of Charleston Inc. Wholesale Supply in Fremont until 1991 when he retired and sold the business to his son, Don.
He married Mildred Simms on March 2, 1937, in Papillion.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fremont, Masonic Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M. of Fremont, the Oriental Shrine Band and Tangier Shrine of Omaha and the York Rite, Order of Eastern Star, Arbor Vitae Chapter 92 of Fremont, Fremont Golf Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont where he was a member since 1939.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Donald (and wife, Dorothy) Charleston of Valley; two daughters, Sandy (Mrs. Russ) Callaway and Dee (Mrs. Douglas) Thomas, all of Fremont; a brother, Everett (and wife, Katherine) Charleston of Omaha; three sisters, Marguerite Polmantier of Hastings, Mabel Hanson of Fremont and Edna Evans of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Bob (and wife, Kim) Charleston, Paige (Mrs. Scott) Berryman, Kelly (Mrs. Kevin) Nelson, Lezlee (Mrs. Craig) Dowler, Tricia (Mrs. Brent) Brown, Michelle Beerbohm and Tiffany (Mrs. Jeremy) Southard; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Anna (Dobrovolny) Charleston; a brother, Merle; a sister, Fern Phillips; and two grandsons, Jamie Charleston and Travis Thomas.
The Revs. Leland Foreman and Walter Hickman will officiate Tuesdays service. A public Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont by Masonic Lodge 15, A.F. & A.M. of Fremont and is open to the public. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Nelson, Brent Brown, Bob Charleston, Scott Berryman, Jeremy Southard, John Simms and Jeff Friel.
A memorial has been established to First Baptist Church in Fremont.

Marjorie English
The funeral for Marjorie H. English, 92, of Fremont will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont.
She died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.
She was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Fremont to Frank and Blondina English. She grew up in Fremont and was a 1929 graduate of Fremont High School. She worked at Woolworths Dime Store in Fremont and later was a dental assistant for Dr. Leo Perion for 15 years. She then was a payroll clerk at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County (now Fremont Area Medical Center) for more than 20 years. She retired in 1975.
She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church.
Survivors include: a sister, Doris M. Gardner of Blair; a brother-in-law, August Feye of Fremont; nephews, Ron (and wife, Roberta) Rasmussen of Morro Bay, Calif. and Dean (and wife, Kathryn) Gardner of Omaha; a niece, Bernitta (Mrs. Leo) Wheelock of Fremont; great-nieces, Becky Rasmussen of California and Mary Gardner Aper of Omaha; and great-nephews, Steve Donahue of Colorado and Mike Gardner of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gladys Feye.
The Rev. Damien Cook will officiate Tuesdays service. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to St. Patricks Catholic Church.

Marilyn Katt
Marilyn S. (Mrs. David) Katt, 60, of Fremont died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

Esther Kuhls
The funeral for Esther Kuhls, 90, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont.
She died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Edgewood Vista in Fremont.
She was born April 18, 1912, in Washington County near Herman. Her parents were Henry and Louise (Stork) Kuhls. She was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Winslow, and she attended Immanuel Lutheran School. She also attended Brandert School and Fontanelle High School.
In 1943, she moved to Omaha, where she first worked sewing uniforms, then for 20 years, she was the secretary of First Lutheran Church in Omaha. She then worked at Childrens Hospital until retiring. In her retirement, she worked part time telemarketing for Omaha Steaks. She also volunteered with Lutheran Family Services and called on patients in the Methodist Hospital. In 1993, she moved to Nye Square in Fremont. In 2000, she became a resident of Nye Pointe, and at the time of her death, she was a resident of Edgewood Vista.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: a sister, Viola Kuhls of Fremont; two nieces, Loretta Hoegemeyer of Hooper and Ardeth (Mrs. Don) Sperling of Arlington; and two nephews, Kenneth (and wife, Ruth) Bartling of Brownsville, Texas and Virgil (and wife, Marilyn) Kuhls of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by four brothers (one in infancy) and a sister.
The Rev. Phillip Vance and Vicar Michael Meyer will officiate Mondays service. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, with the family receiving friends from 2-4 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery.
Memorials have been established to Lutheran Family Services and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Mary Dolezal
Mary Dolezal, 90, of Schuyler died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Schuyler Nursing Center.
Mary Vitamvas was born July 2, 1913, in Linwood. She attended Linwood Public School. She married Edward Dolezal on May 19, 1937, in Omaha. They lived and farmed north of Schuyler for many years. Her husband preceded her in death in September 2002.
Survivors include: a brother, Art (and wife, Mabel) Vitamvas of Schuyler; and a sister, Viola Kohler of Schuyler.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel in Schuyler with the Rev. Germar Nuebert officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Schuyler cemetery.
Sandwiches and coffee will be served after the service at the Last Chance Restaurant.
