Lucille Eggers
Lucille K. Eggers, 88, of Wahoo, formerly of Yutan, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at the Saunders County Hospital in Wahoo.
Lucille Matzen was born Dec. 25, 1914, in Yutan. She married
Harvey Eggers on Oct. 22, 1947, in Yutan. She grew up in Yutan. She lived in Millard from 1955-63, then moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she resided for eight years. She returned to Yutan in 1975.
She was an active and longtime member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 262 in Yutan.
Survivors include: a daughter-in-law, Marlene Miners of Kansas, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Schleu of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Lamar Converse of Wahoo, formerly of Ashland; a grandson, a granddaughter, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a sister and two brothers.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Yutan with the Rev. Brian Deckinger officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Hollst Lawn cemetery in Yutan.
Memorials have been established to the church and American Legion Post 262.

Miles Semrad
Miles A. Semrad, 81, of Fremont died today, Aug. 19, 2003, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.
Arrangements are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
Erna Ringle
Erna Ringle, 94, of Fremont died Friday, June 18, 2004, at Nye Point Health and Rehab in Fremont.
Erna Pannier was born Nov. 30, 1909, in Bellevue, Ill. She grew up in and around Fremont. She married
Leslie Ringle on May 10, 1930, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Nickerson. In 1936, the couple moved to the Fremont area. Then in the late 1940s the couple moved to Scribner and then returned to Fremont in 1950. They farmed for 62 years in Dodge County. Her husband, Leslie, preceded her in death March 20, 1992.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, UCC, in Fremont, where she served two terms as Deaconess, general dinner chairperson for many years, as well as Antique Show dinner co-chairperson and Circle chairperson. She was a former member of the Congregational Church in Scribner. She was also a former member of the Lone Tree Extension Club of Dodge County and the Violet Garden Club of Fremont.
Survivors include: a brother, Robert (and wife, Ella) Pannier of Fremont; four grandchildren: John (and wife, Sandi) Ringle of Fremont; Jim Ringle of Fremont; Jay (and wife, Lori) Ringle of Omaha; Joni (and husband, Mark) Tyner of Papillion; daughter-in-law, Muriel Ringle-Keeler (and husband, Jim Keeler), and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles ad Emma (Miller) Pannier; husband Leslie Ringle; three sons, Donald Ringle and two infants Dick and Kenny Ringle; daughter, Carol Jean; three sisters and three brothers.
A funeral will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, in Fremont. The Rev. Warren E. Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 1-9 p.m. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont and Tuesday in the church for one hour prior to the service. The burial will be in Ridge cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to the First Congregation Church.
Leo Ohnoutka
Leo Ohnoutka, 84, of Wahoo, formerly of Weston, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo.
Dennis Day
Dennis K. Day, 59, of Elkhorn died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at his home.
Day was born Dec. 20, 1943, in Clarinda, Iowa. He grew up in Clarinda where he attended grade school and high school. He served in the U.S. Army, spending 19 months in France. He married
Cyndi Brewer on May 6, 1977, in Omaha. After they were married
, they made their home in Omaha and later moved to Elkhorn. He spent much of his working career as self-employed in the fields of maintenance, painting, tree service and construction.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Jason Day of Omaha; three sisters, Janice Woodgate of Valley, Diana Pry of Ralston and Barbara Day of Fremont; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn with the Rev. Clayton Skurdahl officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Private burial will be held.
Florence Meek
Florence A. Meek, 85, of Wahoo died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Haven House in Wahoo.
Florence Carlson was born Dec. 7, 1917, in Colon. She graduated from Wahoo High School in 1936 and then attended Luther College, graduating in 1938 with a combined commercial diploma. She also attended accounting night school at Luther College for six months. She was employed as a bookkeeper from 1942-76 at the Wahoo Newspaper (originally the Wahoo Wasp). She later worked at the Saunders County Care Center and Social Services as a secretary. She retired in 1981. She married
Percy Meek on Aug. 4, 1973, in Wahoo.
Survivors include: a stepdaughter, Marlene Barnes of Paradise, Calif.; three stepgrandchildren and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Marvin Neubauer officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo. Burial will be in Sunrise cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Haven House.
Delmar Maly
The funeral for Delmar P. Maly, 66, of Lincoln, formerly of Wahoo, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Svoboda Funeral Home Chapel in Wahoo.
He died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at Legacy Terrace in Lincoln.
Maly was born Aug. 17, 1937, in rural Valparaiso. He attended elementary school at District 76 and later worked on the family farm, all in rural Weston. He began active duty in the Navy on March 7, 1957.
His home port was in San Francisco, and he served aboard the USS Taylor.
He was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman on Feb. 21, 1959 in San Francisco.
Maly worked for Al Handler at the Wahoo Locker after military service. He worked as a truck driver at the former Breunig Rendering Works of Wahoo in 1966, and he retired from Darling International, Inc. of Wahoo in 2002.
He lived in Wahoo for many years before moving to Lincoln in 2002.
Maly was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2971 of Wahoo.
He enjoyed playing pool on the local Eagles team and competed against other teams in the Aeries area.
He liked listening to polka music, and he was an avid Husker fan.
Survivors include: a daughter, DeAnn (Mrs. Ivan) Salkin of Los Osos, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Darlene Maly of Weston; nieces, a nephew, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
The Rev. Don White will officiate Tuesdays service. Interment of cremated remains will be in St. John cemetery in Weston.
Military rites and presentation of the United States Flag will be by American Legion Post 308 of Weston.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of the Nebraska Chapter at 2665 Farnam Street, Omaha, Neb., 68131. Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.
Norman Thorson
Norman W. Thorson, 53, of Lincoln died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Thorson was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Omaha. He married
Toni Giglio on Jan. 9, 1971, in Lincoln. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Law College on May 14, 1977, with high distinction and received his Ph.D. in 1979. He was professor of law at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, joining the faculty in 1977, teaching courses in agricultural law, public lands and natural resources, oil and gas, water and international environmental law. While in law school, he served as lead articles editor for the "Nebraska Law Review" and was a member of the National Moot Court Team. He is a former instructor in agricultural law in the department of agricultural economics at UNL and served as chairman of the law-economics joint degree program.
He was a member of Nebraska Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was elected to membership in the American Law Institute and had served on the board of directors of the American Agricultural Law Association, the Natural Resources Law Teaching Committee of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Executive Committee of the Nebraska Water Resources Center. He had written "Cases and Materials of Agricultural Law" and was co-author of published books: a two-volume treatise entitled, "Agriculture Law," and "Nebraska Water Law and Administration." He was past president of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty senate, past president of the Agricultural Law Association and a trustee of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. He chaired the Governors Task Force on Low Level Radioactive Waste. He served as Nebraskas representative to and chair of the Central Interstate Low Level Waste Compact Commission. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, John Thorson of Lincoln; a daughter, Emily Thorson of Lincoln; his mother, Vendela Thorson of Mead; and two brothers, Dr. Alan (and wife, Nancy) Thorson of Omaha and Wayne (and wife, Kim) Thorson of Mead.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Lincoln with the Rev. Fred Nelson officiating.
A memorial has been established to the UNL College of Law.

Alice Dahl
Alice Dahl, 89, of Fremont died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

David Bouwens
David L. Bouwens, 56, of Lincoln died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, in Sarpy County.
Bouwens was born May 17, 1947, in Lincoln. He was raised in Panama and was in the last graduating class from Panama High School in 1965. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He married
Linda Schulte on Dec. 12, 1969, in Burr. He was president and manager of Bouwens Building Center.
He attended As One Ministries. He was past president and longtime member of Nebraska Lumbermans Organization. He was a charter member of the Fremont Pathfinders and Lincoln Continentals Chorus Tri Town Sound.
Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Nichole L. Bouwens of Lincoln; two sons, Matt (and wife, Jenny) Bouwens and Chris Bouwens, all of Lincoln; two sisters, Arlene (Mrs. Don) Vandertook of Panama and Karen (Mrs. Ron) Liesveld of Lincoln; a brother, Norman Bouwens of Sioux Falls, S.D.; special friends, Randy and Lynette Hampton and Theresa Kelso of Lincoln; a granddaughter and eight honorary grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Faith Bible Church in Lincoln with the Revs. Kevin Pringle and Roland Hanselmann officiating. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Wyuka Funeral Home, 3600 O St., in Lincoln. Public visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the funeral home and an hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Wyuka cemetery.
