Longin Kucera, 97, of Clarkson, formerly of Howells, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Clarkson.

Don L. Bartusek, 73, of Caney, Kan., formerly of Omaha, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home.

Rose Egr, 99, of Schuyler died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Extended Care Unit of Alegent Health Memorial Hospital in Schuyler.

Louis Noha
Louis E. Noha, 94, of Wahoo died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2003, at Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo.
Arrangements are pending at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo.

Clara Nelson
Clara A. Nelson, 95, of Fremont died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.
Arrangements are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.

Don Bartusek
The funeral for "Don" L. Bartusek, 73, of Caney, Kan., formerly of Omaha, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Svoboda Funeral Home Chapel in Wahoo.
He died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at his home.
Bartusek was born March 25, 1930, in Prague. He was a 1946 graduate of Wahoo High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1952. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Philippine Sea rank EM3, Electricians Mate Third Class. He started a business, Home Life Products, in 1972. He married Janet French in 1955 and raised three children. The couple divorced in 1986. He later married Nancy Perkins on June 24, 1993. The couple moved to Caney in 1996.
He was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church while living in Omaha.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Brice Bartusek of Arvada, Colo.; two daughters, Constance Bartusek Birge of Bennington and Debra Bartusek Novotny of Omaha; Nancys children, Jonathan Perkins, Greg Perkins, Karen Larson, Lara Perkins, all of Omaha, and Muriel Perkins of Mountain Grove, Mo.; a brother, "Bill" Bartusek of Caney; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The Rev. Don White, of Wahoo Community Church, will officiate Mondays service. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday with family present. A burial with military rites will be in Sunrise cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Jane Phillips Hospice in Bartlesville, Okla., in care of the family.
Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.

Judith Anderson
Judith M. Anderson, 97, of Wahoo died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Haven House in Wahoo.
Judith Lusch was born June 28, 1906, on a farm near Swedeburg. She grew up on the family farm, attended District 48 Grade School and graduated from Luther Academy in 1923. Following graduation, she went to work at the Saunders County Courthouse where she became associate judge. She worked until 1943, at which time she retired to care for her aging parents. She married Floyd A. Anderson on June 23, 1950, in Omaha. Her husband died May 4, 1977. She had been a resident of Haven House since 1993.
Survivors include: nieces, Marilyn Haines of Ceresco, Doris Galloway of Shreveport, La., and Evonne Brucker of Burbank, Wash.; and nephews, Ronald Nelson of Holdrege and Gerald Nelson of Lincoln.
She also was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo with the Rev. Jon Sloan officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday and will continue until the service time. Burial will be in Sunrise cemetery in Wahoo.
A memorial has been established to the Saunders County Hospital Foundation Board.

John Sholtz
The funeral for John R. "Butch" Sholtz, 63, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
He died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.
Sholtz was born May 26, 1940, in Fremont. He lived all his life in Fremont and was a 1959 graduate of St. Patricks High School in Fremont. He was a grain miller at Archer-Daniels-Midland Company in Fremont for 36 years, retiring in December 2002.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 15 A.F. & A.M. at Fremont and the Fremont York Rite. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 200 of Fremont for 30 years.
Survivors include: a son, Jeff Sholtz of Kennard; two daughters, Carmen (Mrs. Jeff) Weier of Tabor, Iowa, and Barbara Luna of El Paso, Texas; a stepson, Jamie Haas of Fremont; a stepdaughter, Amie (Mrs. Seth) Menking of Fremont; good friend, Owen Charter of Fremont; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The Rev. Karl Rist of First Lutheran Church in Fremont will officiate Mondays service. A public Masonic service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, led by Masonic Lodge 15, A.F. & A.M. of Fremont. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to the Masonic Eastern Star Home for Children in Fremont.

Cecil Nordstrom
The funeral for Cecil C. Nordstrom, 76, of Wahoo will be 2 p.m. today at Swedeburg Covenant Church in rural Wahoo.
He died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Alegent Health/Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.
Nordstrom was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Swedeburg. He attended District 5 School in rural Ashland. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and was on the train to Fort Bragg, N.C., when he was honorably discharged so that he could return home and operate the family farm due to the death of his father. He married Marjory "Marj" Nietfeld on June 1, 1952, in Memphis. When first married , the couple lived in the Wann area. They moved to the rural Wahoo area in 1956. He farmed and raised livestock his entire life. He was employed by the city of Wahoo at Sunrise cemetery from 1972-90. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 5, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons, Byron (and wife, Gloria) Nordstrom and Tim (and wife, Pat) Nordstrom, all of Wahoo; a brother, Wayman Nordstrom of Beaverton, Ore.; six grandchildren, two stepgrandsons and a great-granddaughter.
He also was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
The Rev. Richard Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Sunrise cemetery in Wahoo.
A memorial has been established to Swedeburg Covenant Church.
Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.

Edward Scott
Edward L. Scott, 82, of Gretna died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Gretna Community Living Center.
He was born March 24, 1921, in Omaha. Scott served in the U.S. Navy from August 1942 to June 1944. He was an auto dealership owner. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Gretna. His wife, Beulah Anne Scott, preceded him in death on May 13, 1998.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kay (Mrs. Gary) Cooper of Fremont; a son, Jay (and wife, Peggy) Scott of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by three sisters.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel, Omaha, with the Rev. William Deahl of Gretna United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. with family receiving friends 4-6 p.m., all today at the West Center Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Auburn cemetery with full military honors by Benson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2503.
Memorials have been established to United Methodist Church of Gretna and Gretna Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

Yvonne Hoerath
The memorial service for Yvonne S. Hoerath, 75, of Ames will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
She died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Yvonne Arnold was born Oct. 8, 1928, in Fremont. She was a graduate of Fremont High School. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for ten years and also at Nye Square and Nye Courte Retirement Community for several years, all in Fremont. She married Bill C. Hoerath on Oct. 27, 1953, in Fremont.
Survivors include: her husband; a son, Tim (and wife, Mercy) Hoerath of San Antonio; a daughter, Holly Hoerath of Fremont; two sisters, Shirley and Mary Jane, both of Oregon; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
The Rev. Greg Hall of First United Methodist Church in Fremont will officiate Mondays service. There will be no visitation.
Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Lahmann
The funeral for Irene L. Lahmann, 92, of Scribner will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Johns County Line Church in rural Scribner.
She died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.
Irene Swearingen was born Oct. 5, 1911, in Antler, N.D. Her mother died when she was 2 years old and she moved in with her grandparents in Mohall, N.D. She attended school in Mohall. When she was in her teens, she moved to live with her sister in Craig, where she worked as a hired girl in Oakland. She married Alvin B. Lahmann on Oct. 21, 1930, in Fremont. After her marriage, she and Alvin lived and worked together on the farm until they retired and moved to Scribner in 1973. She was a homemaker and worked for several years at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner in the cleaning department. Her husband preceded her in death March 11, 1997. She moved from her home to Good Samaritan Center in January 1999.
She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church on the county line and was active in the Lutheran Church Women at the church, holding several offices. She was active in her younger years in several card clubs.
Survivors include: a son, Darrel (and wife, Mary) Lahmann of Omaha; a daughter, Lila (Mrs. Dale) Heitshusen of Uehling; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters, one in infancy.
The Rev. Kim Cottingham will officiate Mondays service. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Sunday at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 12:30 p.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in St. Johns cemetery in rural Scribner.
Memorials have been established to St. Johns Lutheran Church.
