Donald Anthony
Donald L. Anthony, 65, of Tekamah died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004.
Anthony was born March 8, 1939, and was raised in Fremont. He was a truck driver for 44 years. He married his wife, Kathy, in 1973.
Survivors include: his wife; four children, Karla Nadrchal, Brenda Anthony, Trish Heidenreich-Blakely and Todd Anthony; two stepchildren, Sally Aufenkamp and Mike Barrett; three brothers, Lonnie, Myron and Rocky Anthony; four stepbrothers, Dan, Scott, Tyler and Matt Dixon; stepsister, Beth Mincer; stepmother, Doris Anthony; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepbrother.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5710 Center St., in Omaha.

Rose Tomka
The funeral for Rose Tomka, 69, of Dodge will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge.
She died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Stalp Funeral Home in West Point and from noon until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. A Guild rosary will be at 3 p.m. Sunday and a public service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, both at the church. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery.

Ellynn Timm
Private graveside services were Thursday for Ellynn Marie Timm, infant daughter of Lauren and Jayana (Evans) Timm of Hooper. Ellynn, who was born July 28, 2004, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Childrens Hospital in Omaha.
Survivors include: her parents; brother, Weston Timm, and sister, Jaycen Timm, both at home; grandparents, Jay and Georgia Evans of Valley and Lois Timm of Hooper; great-grandmother, Thelma Evans of Columbus; and uncle, Joe Evans of Valley.
Ellynn was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lawrence Timm.
The Rev. Steven Tjarks of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper will officiate the services, which will be held at Elim Lutheran cemetery at Swaburg.
Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Woodruff
Leroy E. Woodruff, 64, of Wahoo died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.
Woodruff was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Atkinson.
Survivors include: his wife, Delores Woodruff; a brother-in-law, Don (and wife, Gwen) Brtek; and many friends at Region V services.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo with the Rev. Kent Morse officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery in Morse Bluff.
Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Boardman
Ronald L. Boardman, 67, of Las Vegas died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at his home in Las Vegas.
Boardman was born April 9, 1937, in Omaha. He grew up in Omaha where he attended Beal Grade School and Mexico Military School during junior high. His family moved to Valley when he was a sophomore and he graduated from Valley High School in 1955. He married Barbara Moore on June 3, 1956, in Valley. They raised their family in Valley. He worked for his father at the Boardman Chevrolet dealership until he ventured on his own with Rons Auto Sales. Later, he worked at Holiday Lodge in Fremont, and in 1993 he and his wife moved to Las Vegas where he worked for the Las Vegas Hilton as a shampoo porter. He retired in 2001, but remained in Las Vegas until the time of his death.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Rick (and wife, Michele) of Henderson, Nev.; two daughters, Kim (Mrs. Tim) Ortgies of Atlanta and Kristi (Mrs. Tom) Fencl of Elkhorn; stepmother, Evelyn Boardman of Las Vegas; half brother, Larry Boardman of Pennsicola, Fla; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Valley with the Rev. Harold Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Valley with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill cemetery in Elkhorn.
A memorial has been established to the Cystinosis Foundation.

Lorraine Hemmer
The funeral for Lorraine R. Hemmer, 72, of Fremont will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 3400 E. 16th St., in Fremont.
She died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, as a result of an automobile accident near Tarnov.
Lorraine Barnas was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Tarnov. She grew up in the Humphrey and Tarnov area and moved to Fremont after her marriage. She worked at the J.C. Penney Co. Inc. store in Fremont for 27 years and then was employed at Wal-Mart in Fremont for seven years.
She married Ralph E. Hemmer on Jan. 23, 1951, in Tarnov. He preceded her in death June 12, 1993.
She was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont and St. Patricks Women.
Survivors include: a son, Allen Hemmer of Fremont; two daughters, Bonnie Novacek and Rose (Mrs. Kirk) Haecke, all of Fremont; a sister, Darlene Sok of Lyons; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Owen Korte will officiate Thursdays service. A rosary/vigil service will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and one hour prior to service time in the church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to St. Patricks Catholic Church in Fremont.

William Simms
The funeral for William M. "Bill" Simms, 63, of Fremont will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Fremont.
He died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, as the result of an accident in Rapid City, S.D.
Simms was born April 24, 1941, in Spencer, Iowa. He moved to Fremont as a child with his parents and attended Fremont Schools, graduating from Fremont High School in 1959. He attended Hastings College and graduated from Wayne State College in 1965. He taught English and coached at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, before learning to fly and becoming a flight instructor in Omaha. He had been employed as a pilot for Taylor and Martin Auctioneers for the past 28 years.
He married Karen Prell on Dec. 28, 1967, in Osceola.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Quiet Birdmen.
Survivors include: his wife, Karen; two daughters, Susanne Simms and Marnie (Mrs. Jeffrey) Friel, both of Lincoln; a son, John Simms of Lincoln; a sister, Mildred Charleston of Fremont; and a granddaughter, Megan Friel.
The Rev. Leland Foreman will officiate Wednesdays service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials have been established to First Baptist Church and Fremont Area Community Foundation.

Carl Swanson Jr.
The funeral for Carl Swanson Jr., 81, of Lyons will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.
He died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons.
Swanson was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Lyons. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1940. Upon his graduation, he traveled to Albany, N.Y., to work on the railroad. After finding that was not his calling in life, he returned home to Lyons to work with his father in the trucking business, marking the beginning of Osean Swanson & Son Trucking. He owned the first 50-foot stock trailer to come off the assembly line in the United States. He remained in the trucking business for more than 60 years until 2003 at age 81.
He married Eva E. Reinert on Jan. 15, 1946, in Blair. Following the death of his wife in 1984, he had a special friend and companion, Agnes Whitmore, who preceded him in death in 1994. He married Lela Silver on June 27, 1998, in Oakland.
On Aug. 4, 2003, he had heart surgery in Lincoln, requiring several blood transfusions, contracting the West Nile Virus. He suffered many health issues and numerous hospital stays in the past year. In June, he entered Logan Valley Manor.
Survivors include: his wife, Lela; three daughters, Carlene (Mrs. Alan) Gatzemeyer of Bancroft, Kay (Mrs. Joseph) Wiles of Lyons and Connie (Mrs. Robert) Murphy of North Bend; a stepdaughter, Alix Jorden; three sisters, Dorothy Neuhaus, Jean Preston and Shirley Reil, all of Lyons; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren a stepgrandson and the extended family of the late Agnes Whitmore.
He also was preceded in death by an infant sister and two brothers.
The Rev. Gary Fugman will officiate Wednesdays service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. today at Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation continues one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery.

Keith Wegner
Keith M. Wegner, 58, of Scribner died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Wegner was born April 23, 1946, in Fremont. He graduated from Scribner High School in 1964 and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1968 with a bachelors degree in chemical engineering. He had worked for the Scribner Co-op, now owned by Central Valley Ag, since 1975.
He was a member of United Lutheran Church in Scribner.
Survivors include two brothers, Carrol "Butch" (and wife, Deb) Wegner and Gary (and wife, Judi) Wegner, all of Scribner.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at United Lutheran Church in Scribner with Vicar Nicki McIntyre officiating. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Spear-Johnson Funeral Home in Scribner. Burial will be in Scribner cemetery.
A memorial has been established to United Lutheran Church in Scribner.

Bruno Batenhorst
Bruno Batenhorst, 76, of Blair, formerly of West Point, died today, Aug. 11, 2004, in Blair.
Arrangements are pending at Stalp Funeral Home in West Point.

Agnes Benes
Agnes L. Benes, 93, of Blair died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Crowell Memorial Home in Blair.
She was born Feb. 26, 1911, in Brainard to Frank and Anna (Horacek) Cermak. She married James J. Benes on Sept. 27, 1932, in Brainard. They farmed in Valparaiso before moving to Fremont where they operated a hatchery for several years. In 1982, the couple moved to Blair. She became a resident of Crowell Memorial Home in 2000.
Survivors include: a son, Al (and wife, Charlotte) Benes of Fremont; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter and 11 brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Burial will be in St. Johns cemetery in Weston.
