Leonard Anthony

Leonard Anthony, 89, Fremont, died Thursday morning at Arbor Manor Living Center.
He was born September 15, 1914 in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. He was raised and went to school in Cedar Bluffs. He worked in the Fremont area and at an early age started driving truck. One of his first jobs was driving at the Mead Ordinance Plant. After that he became a over-the-road truck driver and did that for over 40 years.
He married
Evelyn Ladd in Papillion, Nebraska on July 29, 1936. She died on March 19, 1968. He married
Doris Dixon on October 10, 1969 in Fremont.
He was a member of the Eagles FOE 200 for over 50 years, and a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Survived by wife Doris of Fremont.
4 Sons-Leon Anthony of Firth, Nebraska, Donald (wife Kathy) Anthony of Tekemah, Nebraska, Myron (wife Geri) Anthony of Omaha, Lloyd "Rocky" (wife Karen) Anthony of Gretna, Nebraska.
4 Step-Sons- Daniel Dixon of Omaha, Scott (wife Kathy) Dixon of Salina, Kansas, Tyler (wife Lynda) Dixon of Goodyear, Arizona, Matthew Dixon of Fremont.
Step-Daughter- Beth (husband Steve) Mincer of Omaha.
2 sisters - Verna Anderson of Utah and Elaine Anderson of Arizona.
14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren
Preceded in death by 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 step-son.
Services will be Tuesday, Feb 3, 2004 at 10:00A.M., at St. James Episcopal Church. The Rev. K. Andrea Jones is officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3P.M. to 8P.M., with family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel. Memorials have been established to St. James Episcopal Church and the Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice Program.
Burial will be in Memorial cemetery.

Ruby O. Precht, 103
Fremont - Died at Merrick Manor Saturday Morning. She was born January 5, 1901 at Washington, Nebraska and Graduated from Kennard High School. Ruby Olsen moved to Fremont with her parents and married
Gerald Ball in Fremont. He died in January of 1969. She was employed at Hammond-Stevens Printing Company for over 50 years until her retirement.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the American Baptist Women.
Ruby married
Emil Precht in Fremont May 1, 1970. He died in 1971.

Fremont - Died at her home Monday June 21, 2004. She was born in Omaha March 11, 1963 and was raised near Elkhorn. She attended Bennington Schools and graduated from Bennington High School in 1981. She moved to Fremont in July of 1994 and worked for Encore and the Oriental Trading Company.

Of Wayne, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, at North Star Home in Wayne.
He was born February 7, 1991 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He lived here until age 3, and then moved to Fremont in 1994. Because of muscular dystrophy, he entered the North Star Home in Wayne.
Survivors include: His Mother, Marta Lorraina Duran of Fremont, two brothers, Aaron Duran of Norfolk, Rigoberio Duran of Fremont: as sister, Sarahy Duran of Fremont
The Funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Fremont
Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. today at the Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the North Star Home.
William M. Simms

William M. (Bill) Simms, 63
Fremont - Died as the result of an accident Sunday, August 8, in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Bill was born April 24, 1941 at Spencer, Iowa to Oscar and Irene Simms. He moved to Fremont with his parents as a child and attended Fremont Schools, graduating from Fremont High School in 1959. He attended Hastings College and graduated from Wayne State College in 1965. He taught English and coached at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa before learning to fly and becoming a flight instructor in Omaha. He has been employed as a pilot for Taylor and Martin Auctioneers for the past 28 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Quiet Birdmen.

Jack Bratz Calhoun

Memorial Services for Jack B. Calhoun, 84 of Fremont will be Thursday, September 30, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel. Rev. Don Botic officiating. There will be no visitation.
Jack Bratz Calhoun died Sunday, September 26, 2004 at his home in Fremont, Nebraska. Jack fought lung cancer bravely and died of its complications surrounded by his loved ones.
Jack was born in Centerville, Iowa on March 28, 1920 to Hilda (Bratz) and Vane Calhoun. He attended Centerville High School and graduated from Ottumwa high School in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1938. Jack attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he received a degree in Business Administration in 1948. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army in the 34th Infantry Division 168th Infantry Regiment Rifle company G from 1941 to 1945. He saw duty in Ireland, Scotland, England and Italy. On August 13, 1945 Jack married
Marilyn Morris in Kansas City, Kansas. They lived in Iowa, where Jack worked as a CPA. He was at Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa and then was treasurer of John J. Pershing College in Beatrice, Nebraska before the family moved to Fremont in 1971 where Jack was the business manager at Midland Lutheran College.
We remember Jack for his love of gardening, his love of reading and life long learning, his war stories and sense of humor, and the stories of the students that surrounded him. Part of his ministry to the community was in the harvest from his gardens that were always shared with the Low Income Ministry. He was a fan of Big Band Music and a stamp collector. He received certificates of appreciation from Keep Fremont Beautiful and Clarmar Elementary Science Fair, where he volunteered his time as a Judge. His wonderful pursuit of adventure and the ability to make friends of everyone he met made a difference in the lives of his family and everyone's lives he touched.
Jack was a member and former elder of the Presbyterian Church in Fremont, a member of Arthur Peters Memorial Garden Club, the American Legion and Kiwanis Club.
Jack is survived by his wife, Marilyn, his brother Robert Vane Calhoun (and wife Betty), a daughter, Marta Jane Calhoun, a son, John Brian Calhoun (and special friend Sandy Gallatin), a grandson, Justin Brian Calhoun, one niece, Jolene Calhoun, a great niece, Casady Fuller, and a grand dog, Sophie, to whom he was devoted. He also leaves many friends who will mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial has been established to the Dodge County Humane Society in Fremont, Nebraska.

Fremont - Died at Arbor Manor Thursday. He was born April 3, 1921 in Dodge County and was raised here graduating from Scribner High School in 1937. He served in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947 and farmed near Webster before moving to Fremont in 1970. He worked at Victor Implement Company until his retirement in 1983.
He is survived by 2 sisters: Bernice Lewis of Fremont and Elaine Christensen of Sandy, Utah
2 brothers-Leonard Furstenau of Redding, California and Kenneth (Casey) Furstenau of Carmichal, California
1 neice: Carla Martin of Riverton, Utah

Fremont - Died Friday afternoon.
He was born May 9, 1964 at Portsmouth, Ohio where he was raised. He graduated from Marion-Pleasant High School in Marion, Ohio in1982. In 1986 he graduated from Ohio University.

Judi Mitchell November 28, 1986 in Phoenix, Arizona. They moved to Fremont in March of 2002 where he was employed by the Fremont Area Medical Center.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fremont Noon Kiwanis Club.

Milton Charles Ebers

Milton C. Ebers, 93
Fremont - Died at Merrick Manor Sunday Night, October 25.
Milton Charles Ebers was born April 16, 1911 in Seward County, Nebraska. He graduated from Seward High School in 1929, and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln for two years. He lived in Seward, Hastings, and Auburn before moving to Fremont in 1950.
Ebers was a General Agent in the life insurance business for 40 years until retiring in 1976. From 1946 forward he worked with Guarentee Mutual Life Company of OMaha. He was a Life Member of the Life Insurance Leaders of Nebraska and in 1960 helped organize and became the first President of the Fremont Association of Life Underwriters. He also served on the Executive Board of the Nebraska Association of Life Underwriters in 1961 and 1962, and was the Nebraska Association President in 1962 and 1963.
Ebers was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church and served it over the years in numerous chairmanship and leadership roles. He also had long affiliations with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Golf Club and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Fremont Masonic Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M., Fremont York Rite and Lincoln Scottish Rite, Fremont Shrine Club, Sesostris Shrine Temple of Lincoln and Royal Order of Jesters Court 118 of Lincoln.
Always civic-minded, Ebers was general drive chairman and President of the Fremont Community Chest in 1952 and 1953, and Mayor of Fremont from 1953 to 1955. He served on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of Crowell Memorial Home in Blair from 1957 to 1963 and again from 1984 to 1988. He was a Charter Member of the Touchdown Club of Nebraska, serving as its President from 1974 to 1976 and on its Board as an Officer and Director since 1962. In 1963 and 1964 Ebers was National President of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association and received its Distinguished Service Award in 1968. He was currently a member of the Presidents Club of the University and the University of Nebraska Foundation Board of Trustees. In 1995 the Nebraska Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame presented him the Clarence E. Swanson Memorial Award for outstanding contribution to the tradition of college football.
Milton Ebers married
Lois Enyeart on June 29, 1949 in Lincoln. She died January 22, 1997.
He is survived by one daughter, Joanne Collins (husband Jack) of Omaha; two sons, James Ebers (wife Sheri) of Fremont and Jerry Ebers (wife Joyce) of Omaha. One Brother Albert Ebers of Seward. Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, and three sisters.
Memorial services will be Friday at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Jocelyn Tupper officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. There have been memorials established to Midland Lutheran College, Fremont Area Community Foundation, University of Nebraska Foundation, First United Methodist Church, Sesostris Temple Transportation Fund.
