95, widow of Lyle, of Lincoln, died Saturday, April 25, 2009. She was born 12/5/1913 in Lincoln, to Charles & Mabel Abigail (Bailey) Schell. She was a very loving & giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, Past President Cosmo Pals, & Presbyterian Women. Volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Cub Scout Den Mother. Worked at Goodwill and as an escort at the State Hospital. Graduated from Lincoln High School. She and her husband founded Hollywood Cleaners in 1949.
Visitation: From 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, (4/28/09) at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N. 27th Street, Lincoln.
Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, (4/29/09) at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 8300 East Pointe Road, Lincoln.
Family Gathering: Family will greet friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
cemetery: Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, (4/29/09) at Wyuka cemetery, please meet at the "O" street gate.
Memorials: Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.
Family Includes: Daughter & son-in-law, Janice & Dave Hughes, Lincoln; son & daughter-in-law, Larry & Ann Owens, Lincoln; Grandchildren, David Hughes, Valerie Johnson, Deanna Hughes, Michelle Hartley, Heather Morse, Larry Owens, Jr., Lauri Galang, Andrew Owens; 16 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Everett & Virginia Owens, June Owens, Helen Ward. She was preceded in death by husband; infant son, Lyle Charles Owens; sister, LaDesca Sowerwine.

Wayne C. Anderson
Lincoln, passed away April 27, 2009. He was born December 6, 1943 in York, Neb. Rosemary extends sincere thanks to all for their loving support and prayers. Wayne will be remembered for his courage and the many lives he touched with his generosity and kindness.

Delmer G. Tenhulzen
87, of Adams, formerly of Firth, died Thursday, April 30, 2009. He was born April 22, 1922, in Firth Nebraska to John “Governor” and Edna (Kroese) Tenhulzen. He was a member of Firth Reformed Church, and a World War II Veteran.
Visitation: Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 Metcalf Funeral Home, 309 Nemaha Street, Firth, Nebraska.
Service: Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 2, 2009, at Firth Reformed Church, with Pastor Jon Garbison officiating.
cemetery: Burial will be in Firth cemetery.

Great Grandchildren, Tonette Hunter and Tia Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Ida Vandewege.

Evangeline Ellen Kalkwarf
Evangeline “Van” Burklund Kalkwarf, 93, of Lincoln, formerly of Ceresco, widow of John Burklund, Harold Hooker and Robert Kalkwarf, died Sunday (5/3/09). Born in Ceresco, NE to Otto and Emily (Swanson) Landstrom. Homemaker, former owner of the “Town Hut Caf” in Ceresco and a nurse’s aide at “The” Bryan Memorial Hospital for 15 years. Member of Ceresco United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Ceresco American Legion Auxiliary. Van was a very loving mother and friend, who always put her family first. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage.
Visitation: . Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday and one hour before services on Friday at the church.
Service: Funeral services to be held 10:30 AM, Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Ceresco United Methodist Church. Pastor Chuck Rager, officiating.

William Larson
The funeral for William R. Larson, 79, of Oakland will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland.
He died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 2, 1925, in Laurel. He attended Oakland Public School and was a 1943 graduate of Oakland High School. He married Virginia E. Ebers on July 25, 1948, in Lincoln. He farmed northeast of Oakland until 1971 and was a Nutrena feed salesman for Cargill. He was named Admiral of the Great State of Nebraska in 1986, 1993 and 1999. He received the Good Neighbor of the Year Award in 2004.
He was a prolific public servant in the Oakland community, Burt County and on the state level. He was a member and past president of Oakland Chamber of Commerce and Oakland Lions Club. He served on Oakland City Council for four years, Burt County Board of Supervisors for 16 years with five years as a chairman, and Burt County Fair Board for 39 years with 23 years as fair manager. He also served on Goldenrod Hills Board in Wisner for eight years with five years as president and Region 4 Board in Wayne for 12 years with five years as president and State Director in the Nebraska Association of County Officials for one year. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he was on the administrative board, served as treasurer and sang in the choir. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 91, A.F. and A.M., Royal Arch Masons, Galilee Chapter 57, O.E.S. Herman Chapter 216 and past Associate Guardian of Jobs Daughters Bethel 35.
Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Cindy (Mrs. Dale) Tranmer of Fremont; two sons, Kirby (and wife, Gay) Larson of Oakland and Marty Larson of Des Moines; a sister, Patricia Nelson of Blair; two brothers-in-law, Merle (and wife, Leona) Ebers of Seward and Ralph (and wife, Shirley) Ebers of Lincoln; a sister-in-law, Janet (Mrs. Wayne) Blue of Lincoln; two grandchildren, a granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law.
The Rev. Mark Eldal will officiate Mondays service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday with family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Oakland. Visitation continues Monday one hour prior to service time at First Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.
Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Burt County Fairgrounds, and Tree of Love of Oakland Memorial Hospital, all in Oakland.

Rosalie Vculek
The funeral for Rosalie C. Vculek, 87, of Wahoo will be 10 this morning at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo.
She died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at her home in Wahoo.
She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in rural Ceresco to Tom and Sophie (Hruby) Wotipka. She graduated from Ceresco High School. She married Joseph H. Vculek in 1936 in Brainard. After her marriage, they lived in Eugene, Ore., for two years, then moved to a farm northwest of Weston in 1939. They moved to a farm just east of Wahoo in 1943.
She had been a member of the St. Wenceslaus Choir since 1949, St. Ludmilla Guild, Catholic Daughters and the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include: two sons, Joseph E. of Wahoo and James R. of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Barbara (Mrs. Chuck) Velinsky of Omaha; a brother, Jim Wotipka of Santa Ana, Calif.; a sister, Pat Alvord of Beatrice; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
The Rev. John Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery in Wahoo.
Memorials have been established to Saunders County Historical Museum and St. Wenceslaus Church.

Audrey Haynes
The memorial service for Audrey R. Haynes, 77, of Fremont will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at The Presbyterian Church in Fremont.
She died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Edgewood Vista in Fremont after a five-year battle with Alzheimers disease.
She was born Dec. 28, 1926, in Fairbury to Ray and Bernice (Denney) Reynolds. She grew up in Fairbury, graduating from high school there. She attended the former Omaha University for two years. Before her marriage, she worked as a registered nurse at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha. Following her marriage to Melvin L. Haynes in Fairbury on June 5, 1948, the couple lived in Omaha eight years, Columbus five years and then moved to Fremont and had resided here since then. After moving to Fremont, she did some night duty nursing.
As an organist, she had played for many area funerals, weddings and other occasions. She was the church organist for St. Patricks Catholic Church for several years, as well as playing for other local churches. She was a volunteer with the Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary. She and her husband also volunteered with the Low Income Ministry. She and Melvin enjoyed walking, bicycle riding, and she enjoyed music and playing bridge. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Fremont.
Survivors include: her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Gwen (Mrs. Bob) Holst of Chicago and Nancy (Mrs. Gene) Depue of Columbus; a son, Gary (and wife, Jean) Haynes of Garland, Texas; and five grandchildren, Vanessa Pherigo, Kevin, Eric and Todd Depue, and Emily Haynes.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Art, and a sister, Jean.
The Rev. Don Wilson will officiate Wednesdays service. There is no public visitation.
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimers Association.

Dorothy Koester
The funeral for Dorothy M. Koester, 86, of Fremont will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Fremont.
She died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 1, 1918, on the family farm near Scribner to Henry and Christina (Tienken) Nelson. She grew up on the farm and attended rural school districts 50 and 33. She married Ervin O. Koester on Oct. 10, 1936, in Scribner. They farmed south of Hooper until moving into Fremont in 1976. After moving into Fremont, the couple worked for the Giffords. Her husband preceded her in death in November 2000.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fremont and had been active in the senior citizens bowling leagues. She also was a part of several area card clubs.
Survivors include: a daughter, Janet (Mrs. Marvin) Porter of Scribner; a son, Lyle Koester of Fremont; a brother, Burnell (and wife, Lillian) Nelson of Scribner; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
The Revs. Mark Grorud and Karl Rist will officiate Wednesdays service. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. today at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with a prayer service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to First Lutheran Church.

Magdalena Reveillac
The funeral for Magdalena D. Reveillac, 96, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.
She died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Nye Point Health and Rehabilitation Center in Fremont.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1907, on a farm by Fullerton to Ida Marie Rabass and John C.T. Petersen. She attended Indian Hills School in Fullerton and Side Hill School in Palmer. She married Francis H. Reveillac on Nov. 20, 1929. They spent the first 12 years of their married life in Louisville, where she worked as a waitress and cook. The couple then moved to San Diego where she started beauty school while her husband worked in the shipyards. When her husband was drafted during World War II, she returned to Fremont to finish beauty school. She then worked at a beauty shop in Louisville.
Following the war, she moved with her husband to Fort Collins, Colo., where she worked in a beauty shop for 2 1/2 years. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for six years. Then, she worked in a downtown shop for 15 years prior to retiring. During her career, she served as president of the National Hair Dressers Association, Unit 6. She also was an award-winning seamstress and won a fishing tournament. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Fort Collins. For the last 10 years, she had resided in Fremont close to her family.
Survivors include two sisters, Malinda (Mrs. Floyd) Brandt of North Bend and Gracie (Mrs. Howard) Ishmiel of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family receiving visitors from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial cemetery in Fremont.
A memorial has been established to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
