Matilda Catherine Peatrowsky, 78, of Louisville, formerly of West Point died February 3, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic in West Point with Reverend Harold Buse as Celebrant. Catholic Daughters and Guild Rosary will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Public Wake Services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday both at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or School Sisters of Saint Francis and their Ministry to the Poor. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com
Matilda was born September 5, 1928 on the farm near Dodge in Cuming County to Leo and Kathryn Rolf Renner. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School and graduated from Dodge Public High School. On April 13, 1948 she married Raymond Peatrowsky at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple farmed near Bancroft in Cuming County moving into West Point in 1978 where Matilda worked as a cook at Guardian Angels Cafeteria. The couple moved to Lewisville in January of 2005 to the Lewisville Care Center.
Survivors include daughters Diane (Bob) Farrens of Murrieta, CA, Donna Urbanski of Louisville, Janet (Michael) Weedman of Lincoln, and Jean (Terry) Poland of Dodge, sons Gary (Rosemary) Peatrowsky of Lincoln, and Dale (Beth) Peatrowsky of Omaha, sisters Frances Hassler of Dodge, and Mildred McNally of Schuyler, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sisters Leona Kluthe, Hildegard Hassler, and Pauline Renner, brother Leonard Renner and a son-in-law Bill Urbanski.

Raymond Peatrowsky
Raymond Lawrence Peatrowsky, 81, of Louisville, NE, formerly of West Point died February 4, 2007 at Midland Hospital in Papillion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Harold Buse as celebrant. Raymond was born March 3, 1925 on a farm in Cuming County near Beemer to Lawrence and Margaret Fillmer Peatrowsky. He attended District 28 country school and was a Guardian Angels Catholic School graduate. On April 13, 1948 he married Matilda Renner at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Dodge. The couple farmed near Bancroft in Cuming County, moving into West Point in 1978. Ray also worked as self employed truck driver, drove truck for Ebel transfer and was a volunteer fireman.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point.
Survivors include daughters Diane (Bob) Farrens of Murrieta, CA, Donna Urbanski of Louisville, Janet (Michael) Weedman of Lincoln, and Jean (Terry) Poland of Dodge, sons Gary (Rosemary) Peatrowsky of Lincoln, Dale (Beth) Peatrowsky of Omaha, sister Dolores (Jack) Miller of Dodge, brother LeRoy (Judy) Peatrowsky, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law Bill Urbanski.

Lester Luebbert
Lester Emil Casper Luebbert, 79, of West Point, died February 4, 2007 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend John Plowman officiating. Burial will occur at a later date. Memorials may be made to Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research. Those wishing to sign the register may do so 9:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home. Lester was born September 15, 1927 west of West Point in Cuming County to Joseph and Ruth Kahler Luebbert. As a small child the family moved to the farm east of West Point. He attended District 13 School thru the 8th grade. During the early 1950’s he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea. On June 23, 1957 he married Jean Druhe. The couple farmed and milked on the home place east of town until 1996 when they moved into West Point.
Lester was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Good Life Club and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing, but his passion was his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Jean, of West Point, daughters Kathy Murphy of Omaha, Janet (Ty) Booze of Cedar Bluffs, Susan Luebbert of Fremont, and Sharon (Ken) Criley of Bethany, MO, sons, Wayne of Rochester, MN, Clark of Fremont, Walter (Becky) of West Point and Mark (Sandy) of West Point, 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Dorothy.

Wendelin Renner
Wendelin Bernard Renner, 83, of rural Dodge, died February 4, 2007 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Public Wake Services will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be at St. Aloysius cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the Church. Memorials may be made to the St. Aloysius Church cemetery. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com
Wendelin was born January 31, 1924 on the family farm south west of Aloys in Cuming County to Joseph and Theresa Neesen Renner. He attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. He farmed and fed cattle with his father, then his brothers Clemens and Joseph.
He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
Survivors include sisters Sister Anelle Renner, Order of St. Francis, and Angeline Vanek of Howells, 14 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Joseph, Leo, Clemens, and Raymond, sisters Solomea Renner and Bernadine Gall.

Olivia Pierce
Olivia Pierce, 91, of Beemer, formerly of West Point, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Kevin Cook officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point with family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Church or to Mount Hope cemetery.
Olivia Caroline Augusta Ropers was born June 30, 1915 in rural Cuming County west of West Point. She was the oldest child of Henry and Sophia Stark Ropers. Olivia attended District 3 School and graduated the 8th grade. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She helped on the family farm and helped care for her 6 younger siblings. Olivia moved to Omaha and was employed as a housekeeper for several families. On September 25, 1941 she married Elvin E. Pierce at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple lived in several Iowa towns while Elvin worked for a logging company. The family moved to West Point in 1945. Olivia worked as clerk at Hested’s Dime Store and Ben Franklin store for nearly 20 years. In 1999 she moved to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community and in February, 2007 to Colonial Haven in Beemer.
Olivia enjoyed hosting garage sales at Pierce’s Garage and attending garage sales. Her other hobbies included collecting photos and information on genealogy, square dancing, vegetable and flower gardening, quilting, and card playing, especially Pitch and Pinochle.
Olivia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Isaak Walton League Auxiliary, and was a Red Cross volunteer for St. Francis Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She especially enjoyed family reunions and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters Janice (Butch) Kindschuh of West Point, and Evelyn (Joe) Dunn of Ogallala, sons Kenneth (Judy) Pierce of Hermiston, OR, and Arlyn (Merna) Pierce of West Point, sisters Dorothy Kuester of West Point and Katherine Thies of Omaha, brother Waline Ropers of Holmesville, brother-in-law Arnold Daberkow of West Point, grandchildren, Wyatt Pierce, Russell (Michelle) Pierce, Steven (Tonja) Kindschuh, Sharon Kindschuh, Jeff (Amy) Jensen, Jayne Schlem, Aaron Pierce, Angela (Chris) Kuester and Brian (Becky) Pierce, and 14 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elvin, in 1972, infant son Daryl, and son-in-law Mike Jensen, sisters Mildred Daberkow, Delilah Ott, and Caroline Horst and special friend Arnold Ott.

Doris Jean Knight
Jean Knight, age 92, passed away April 5th at the West Point Living Center. A memorial service will be held April 21 st at 2 PM at the West Point Kingdom Hall. There will be no visitation.
Doris Jean Rich was born December 18, 1914 in Pueblo, Colorado. She graduated from Augusta High School in EI Dorado, Kansas in 1933, and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1936. On October 24, 1941 she was married to William (Bill) Knight in Wichita, Kansas and to this union was born one son, John William Knight. The couple spent most of their married life in Scribner, Nebraska, while Jean worked as an R.N. at what is now St. Francis Memorial Hospital, working with Drs. Andersen, Scherer, and
Chadek. She was also employed at the Scribner Medical Clinic for a number of years until her retirement. Jean and her husband enjoyed travel and visited many tourist areas in the United States. Jean also liked horseback riding in her younger years, as well as painting landscapes in oil and watercolor. However, her greatest joy in life was talking to others about God's Word and his purpose for mankind, and also doing personal Bible research. Jean is survived by three nieces and many, many friends. She was preceded in death
by her parents and siblings, her husband Bill, in 1983, and her son John, three days after his birth.
Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Irma Heimann
Irma V. Heimann, 91, of West Point, Sunday, died June 16, 2007 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Public Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point with Reverend Gerry Gonderinger officiating. Burial will occur at a later date at St. Michael’s cemetery. Guild and Christian Mother’s Rosary will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Special Olympics or St. Michael’s cemetery.
Irma was born July 24, 1915 on the farm north of Dodge to Frank and Julia Vlach Janecek. She attended Dodge Public School until age 16. On December 27, 1933 she married Albert Heimann at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Omaha. The couple farmed at Monterey, moving into West Point in 1979. Irma worked in the kitchen at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.
Irma was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed quilting with the other ladies of the church. She enjoyed games of all types and traveling. She was a wonderful cook and baker.
Survivors include daughters Carol (Dr. Michael) McConnell of San Antonio, TX, Elaine (Gerry) Ridder of West Point, and Judy (Harley) Charlson of Lincoln, sons Harold of Wayne, Albert, Jr. (Carmel) and Duane (Laura) both of Omaha, David (Olice) of Los Angeles, CA and Mark (Theresa) of Lincoln, sister Marie Pospishil of West Point, brother William “Bill” (Lorraine) Janecek of Dodge, and sister in law Margaret Janecek of Dodge, 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Albert in March of 2006 and a brother Eldon Janecek.

Rita Luebbert
Rita T. Luebbert, 73, of West Point, died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at University Hospital in Omaha.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Guild and Christian Mother’s Rosary with VFW Auxiliary Rites will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home. Public Wake Services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Michael’s cemetery. Lunch will be at the Vets Club. Memorials may be made in her memory.
Rita was born February 5, 1934 at West Point to Carl and Margaret Diekemper Stieren. She was raised on the farm near Aloys and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. She was a 1951 graduate of Guardian Angels High School. On November 10, 1954 she married Bernard “Ben” Luebbert at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. The couple farmed near St. Charles, moving to West Point in 2004. Rita was associated with grocery work for 34 years, most recently at Graybeal’s, retiring in February 2007.
Rita was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild and Christian Mothers. She was a member of VFW auxiliary and Merry Mixers Extension Club. She was an avid bowler.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard, of West Point, daughters Lois (Joe) French of Lincoln, Judy (John) Davis of Harlan, Iowa, Bonnie (Tom) Ruskamp of Dodge, sons Myron (Moira)of Westminster, CO, and Roger (Staci) of West Point, sisters Rose (Leroy) Messersmith of Sioux, City, IA, and Agnes (Vincent) Rolf of West Point, brothers Art (Betty) Stieren of West Point, and Bob of Council Bluffs, IA, grandchildren Julia French, Kiley and Dustin Mevert, Chris Davis, Danielle, Courtney, And Garrett Ruskamp, Rachel and Evan Luebbert and Adyson Luebbert. Preceding her in death were sisters Dorothy Muhs, Clara Gentrup, Marie Batenhorst,and Leona Hagedorn, brother Ken Stieren and sister-in-law Louise Stieren.

Raymond Smeal
Raymond Joseph Smeal, 84, of Snyder, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Parkview nursing home in Dodge.
Mass of Christian of Burial will be 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Leo Catholic Church in Snyder with Reverend Don Cleary as celebrant. Wake Services 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Leo in Snyder. Burial will be in St. Leo cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Leo Catholic Church or Snyder fire and rescue. Visitation will be Tuesday 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church in Snyder.
Ray was born June 21, 1923, at Snyder and grew up on the farm North West of Snyder. He attended St. Leo’s Catholic grade school and graduated from Snyder High School with the class of 1941. On May 24, 1944 he married Arlene Liekhus at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean. The couple farmed near Snyder until 1953 when Ray established Ray Smeal Transfer, trucking until his 1989 retirement. The couple lived in Snyder until moving to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community in West Point in 2002, then to Parkview Home in Dodge in 2005.
Ray was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church where he served on the parish council and as a trustee and sang in the church choir, Knights of Columbus, and Holy Name Society. He served on the Snyder Public School Board, as a volunteer fireman, being chief for 7 years, was a member of the Lions Club, and enjoyed being active with the Snyder Centennial celebration.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of Parkview Home in Dodge, daughters Diane (Ron) Wiese of Central City, Dorothy (Norm) Weber of Wisner, Beverly (Randall) Greer of and Nadine (John) Ries both of Omaha, sons Larry (Lois) of Omaha, Rick (Toni) of Snyder and Randy (Janice) of Omaha, sister Eileen (Tony) Bose and sister in laws Ardath and Loretta Smeal all of Snyder, 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and William and grandson Nicholas Ries.

Johnny Neiman
Johnny William Neiman, III, 70, of Beemer, died June 28, 2007 at his farm home.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Don Olson officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com
Johnny was born August 8, 1936 south of Beemer to Johnny W., Jr. and Anna Holtz Neiman. He grew up on the farm, was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and attended school at Immanuel Lutheran School. From November of 1956 until November of 1958, Johnny served in the US Army. On August 8, 1965 he married Helen Schrader in Omaha. The couple farmed the home place and Johnny drove the maintainer for Elkhorn Township for 47 years, retiring in 2006.
Johnny was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. He enjoyed his guns, target shooting, shooting blue rock and was a member of NRA. He loved his faithful companion, “Taz”.
Survivors include a daughters Janet (David) Surls of Republic, MO, Bonnie (David) Mandel of Dodge, son John, Jr. (Dena) of Sioux City, IA, 2 granddaughters Courtney and Tara Neiman, sister in laws Doris Paulson and Elaine (Harry) Breitbarth both of West Point. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, on December 31, 2001, and brother Dallas Neiman.
