Blanche Cook
Blanche Cook was born on March 13, 1916 at the Richmond farmstead southwest of Grant, Neb. She was the oldest of four children born to William and Alice Hoffman Richmond.
Blanche grew up on the farm, attending country school and later graduating from Perkins County High School in Grant in 1934. After graduation, Blanche worked in the telephone company office for several years.
Blanche was married to Orie Cook on May 18, 1937 in Denver, Colo. Three children were born to this union, Beverly, Alice and Gary. They lived for two years in California before moving to Denver.
In 1945 they returned to Grant. In 1958, Orie started Cook's Ready Mix in Imperial and Blanche worked in the office. The business became a success and the family moved to Imperial in 1963.
After their retirement, Blanche and Orie spent their winters in Mesa, Ariz.
Orie died in 1989 and Blanche continued to maintain her residence in Imperial and Mesa.
She moved to the Westview Retirement Center in Grant in 2004 and because of declining health, she moved to the Park Ridge Assisted Living earlier this year.
She stayed active at Park Ridge but suffered an apparent stroke Friday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2005. She was moved to the Perkins County Community Hospital where she died. She had reached the age of 89.
Blanche had been baptized at the Grant Congregational Church early in her life. After her marriage, she remained active in church, teaching Sunday School and Bible School.
After their move to Imperial, they joined the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Esther Circle and helped fold the church letters for mailing each month. Blanche was a member of the Imperial Eagles Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Center.
Blanche always enjoyed a game of cards and bingo. Orie and Blanche enjoyed camping and fondly remembered the good times shared with the "Over the Hill" group.
In addition to her parents and husband, Blanche was preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Richmond in 1982, her infant daughter, Alice in 1945, and her son Gary in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter Beverly and her husband Larry Bachmann of International Falls, Minn., and a daughter-in-law, Darla Cook of Piedmont, S.D.; four grandsons, Chip Cook of Denver, Colo., Gregg and his wife Tammy Bachmann of Indianola, Iowa, Doug and his wife Tammy Bachmann of Des Moines, Iowa and Kevin and his wife Jane Bachmann of Wake Forest, N.C.; Blanche also considered Cathy Kruzek of Denver, Colo., who spent time with Gary and Darla while she was growing up as her granddaughter; great-grandchildren, Sasha Davis, Zac Bachmann, Mark Bachmann, Kate Bachmann, Nicole Gullion, Eric Gullion, Brandon Brooks; two sisters, Jean Mitchell and Mary Burnham, both of Denver, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Lucille Richmond and Louvella Cook of Grant and one brother-in-law, Clair Bell of Lexington; other relatives and friends.
Services were held on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005 at the Grant First Congregational Church with Pastor John Keener officiating.
Music was by Lynn Schumacher and Lori McCloskey.
Casketbearers were Gregg Bachmann, Doug Bachmann, Kevin Bachmann, Chip Cook, Jerry Benge and Bill Richmond.
Interment was in the Grant cemetery.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Goldie L. Runyon
Goldie Runyon, 88, passed away Dec. 15, 2005 in the Imperial Manor Nursing Home.
Goldie was born Jan. 25, 1917 in rural Chase County to John and Lula Smith. She attended school in Chase County through the 11th grade.
In 1935 Goldie married Clarence E. White and to this union one son, Norman, was born. In the late 1930's they moved to Idaho Springs, Colo.
In 1944 Goldie married Wm. Clyde Runyon.
In 1946, after WWII, they moved to Imperial to be with her son, who at that time was living with John and Lula Smith.
In 1959 Goldie and Clyde moved to Riverside, Calif. Goldie resided there until 1995 when she moved back to Chase County. She resided in Champion until 2002 when she moved into the Imperial Parkview Assisted Living.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lula Smith; brothers, Ross A. and Harry P. Smith; both husbands, Clarence E. White and Wm. Clyde Runyon; and daughter-in-law, Judith L. White.
She is survived by her son, Norman L. White, of Santa Maria, Calif.; sister-in-law, Betty M. Smith of Salida, Colo. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requested no services and private burial was in the Mount Hope cemetery, Imperial.

Albert F. Zuege, Sr.
Albert F. Zuege, Sr., 84, of Haigler died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.
He was born July 24, 1921, in Haigler.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia P. (Keller) Zuege of Haigler; sons, Albert Zuege Jr. of Imperial and Alfred Zuege of South Dakota; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. MT at the Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler.
Interment and military graveside services will be at the Haigler cemetery in Haigler.
Memorials are being accepted in his name at the Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler.
Knodel Funeral Home of St. Francis, Kan., is in charge of arrangements.

Goldie L. Runyon

Otis J. 'Knotty' Knotwell
Otis J. 'Knotty' Knotwell, 82, passed away Dec. 9, 2005, at the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.
He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Chase County, Nebraska, to Otis and Clara M. (Ditton) Knotwell. He graduated from Wauneta High School in 1942. He started at McCook Junior College but then joined the Marine Corp on Feb. 16, 1943. He served his tour of duty mostly in the South Pacific. He mustered out on May 2, 1946.
He married Beryl I. Hamilton on Aug. 25, 1946. Knotty served on the Nebraska State Patrol at Norfolk, Neb., 13 years before returning to Wauneta after the death of his father. During his long life he was in law enforcement, was a blacksmith, nursing home maintenance man and golf course maintenance man in his semi-retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wauneta, a life member of American Legion Post 304, life member and Commander of VFW Post 7996 and life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl; daughter: Carol and husband Steven Thompson, Barb and husband Gordon Hinrichs, Colleen and husband Dennis Goings and Patti and husband Lonnie Kitt; son James Knotwell and wife Denise, 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sister Esther (Knotwell) Einspahr; several nieces and nephews and more friends than you can count.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Clara Knotwell; sister Betty (Knotwell) Jehorek and daughter JoAnn Thorman.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. MT at the United Methodist Church in Wauneta with Rev. Judy Dye officiating.
Inurnment will follow at the Riverside cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory.

Jessie Isobel Tibbetts
Jessie Isobel Tibbetts passed away at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, surrounded by family, at the age of 95.
Jessie Isobel Tibbetts was born on July 17, 1910, at Sheddon, Ontario, Canada, the youngest child of John William Cain and Jeanetta Marjorie Conway Cain.
At the age of four, she came to the United States with her mother, two sisters and one brother, to Julesburg, Colo., where she lived for a time with her uncle John and aunt Beatrice Cass.
She graduated from Sedgwick County High School, Julesburg, Colo., in 1927.
Jessie Isobel was united in marriage to Beniah Cecil (B.C.) Tibbetts at Colorado Springs, Colo. on Aug. 13, 1928. Their home was established at Canon City, Colo., where they operated the Tibbetts Family Fruit and Vegetable Farms. In 1931, they returned to Chase County and took over the family ranch on the South Divide, near Imperial, Neb. In 1943, the family moved to the property on the edge of Imperial where they continued their cattle and horse operation. Jessie worked for J.C. Penney Co., moving to Lincoln, Neb. in 1968 when the store closed in Imperial, to continue working for J.C. Penney Co. She was a 27 year employee and a member of the Penny Club at the time of her death.
Jessie became a member of the Methodist Church at the age of 10. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Imperial and later Grace United Methodist Church in Lincoln where she has been a member since 1985. She held numerous offices in United Methodist Women, Circle and fellowship groups. She was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Quilters and Bryan Board. Isobel and B.C., as they were usually called, were both charter members of the Imperial Riding Club.
Jessie became a citizen of the United States at the age of 65. She was very proud of this.
She enjoyed playing her piano and organ and singing. She also loved to write poetry, having poems published in the Aging Services Life Lines magazine. She was asked to give one of these at a patriotic service at Antelope Pavillion in Lincoln.
She is survived by her children: Marjorie Lesh of Indio, Calif., Robert E. Tibbetts and wife, Mary, of Westwood, Calif., Marilyn Korinek and husband, Harold, of Crete, Neb., Maureen Moeller and husband, Albert D., of Grand Island, Neb., Linda Beck and husband, Glenn, of Hermantown, Minn. and Lynn A. Tibbetts and wife, Jaci, of Crete, Neb. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, B.C in 1965 and infant son, Stanley Cecil; two sisters, Mina Jean Cain and Mildred Ena Taylor; one brother, William Wilbert Cain and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 15) at Grace United Methodist Church, 2640 "R" Street, Lincoln, Neb. with Dr. Wayne Reynolds, Lincoln and Rev. Dean R. Joy, Arnold, Neb., officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Mount Hope cemetery, Imperial, with Pastor Kay Alnor officiating. Visitation at 2-9 p.m. Wednesday with family greeting from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 "O" Street, Lincoln and one hour prior to service time at the church.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to Grace Quilters of Grace United Methodist Church or donor's choice.

Bobbie Glenn Case
Bobbie Glenn Case, 78, of Imperial, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home in Imperial.
Bob was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Lamar, Nebraska to Glenn E. and Elsie (Weiss) Case. Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Shaw, on Jan. 27, 1951. They were blessed with a son, Mitchum and a daughter, Nanette.
Bob served in the United States Navy from Aug. 28, 1945 until Sept 28, 1948. He was stationed on the USS Helena and the USS Los Angeles. These ships were stationed in the Pacific Ocean.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Case of Imperial; son, Mitch of Imperial; daughter, Nanette Bilka and husband, Terry of Enders; six grandchildren including Charlesa Kline and husband, JR of Imperial, Robert Case of Sidney, Neb., Joseph Bilka and wife, Lyndsey of St. Charles, Mo., Janine Case of Denver, Colo., Joni Case and son Quentin of Sidney, Neb. and Sam Case of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Darlene Hartshorn and husband, Jim of Boulder, Colo. and Donna McNair of Imperial; numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma (Pat); five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Graveside services were held on Dec. 3 at Mount Hope cemetery, Imperial with JR Kline officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are being accepted in Bob's name.
Liewer Funeral Home of Imperial was in charge of arrangements.

Calleen Lyn Brewer
Calleen Lyn Brewer was born on July 3, 1980, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She was diagnosed with cancer in May of this year. After receiving treatments in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she returned to her home in Sidney, Nebraska. Due to complications, she died in her sleep on Nov. 25, 2005, at the age of 25.
She graduated from Chase County High School in 1998.
In high school, she enjoyed musicals and plays.
After high school, she attended McCook Community College for two years, then was employed fulltime at Pizza Hut. In 2003, she relocated to Sidney to reside with her Dad. Both were employed with Cabela's.
Family was the most important thing in her life, both past and present, blood and extended.
Her hobbies were reading, movies, and collecting Barbie Dolls.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gene and Shirley Brewer; an uncle, Lowell "Jay" Brewer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her father, Chris; her mother, Connie; one half-brother, Henry; one half-sister, Miranda and maternal grandmother, Anne; as well as other family and friends.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Sidney, Neb. with Pastor Leonard Suhr officiating.
Another memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Westside Church of Christ in Imperial, Neb. with Pastor Randy Hayes officiating.
Interment was at Mount Hope cemetery, Imperial.
Memorials may be given to the Dorwart Cancer Treatment Center in Sidney, Neb.
Holechek Funeral Home of Sidney, Neb. was in charge of arrangements.

Bob Case
Bob Case, age 78, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home in Imperial.
Survivors include wife, Nancy of Imperial; son, Mitch of Imperial; daughter, Nanette Bilka and husband, Terry of Imperial; six grandchildren, one great-grandson; sisters, Donna McNair of Imperial and Darlene Hartshorn and husband, Jim, of Boulder, Colo.
Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, Dec. 3, 10 a.m. at Mount Hope cemetery, Imperial, with J. R. Kline officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon, 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Bob's memory.
Liewer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
