Vivian W. Kinghorn, 102, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, in Lincoln. She was born November 15, 1908, to Charles R. and Jessica (Bogue) Kinney, in Rock County, NE. She was an assistant supervisor at LT&T and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Service: Graveside services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Sheridan cemetery, Auburn, NE.

Sara "Betty" Elizabeth Olson

Sara “Betty” Olson, 83, of Lincoln, formerly of Ceresco, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, in Lincoln. She was born October 31, 1927 in Omaha, NE to George and Effie (Staley) Boulier. Retired farmer. A member of the Ceresco Covenant Church, Ceresco Chapter O.E.S., Ceresco Legion Auxiliary and a long time volunteer at Raymond Central Schools.

Visitation: Family will greet friends from 4 – 6 p.m. at the church on Sunday, November 28, 2010.

Service: Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Ceresco Covenant Church with Pastor Jodie Moore, officiating.

cemetery: Burial will be at the Danish cemetery.

Memorials: Memorials may be given to the church or People’s City Mission.

Survivors include: husband, Ralph; children and spouses, Carrie Olson-Fava, Henderson, NV, Susan Olson, Arlington, VA, Sally Olson-Nelson and Ray Nelson, Safety Harbor, FL and John and Cathy Olson, Marlton, NJ; grandchildren, Jennifer and spouse Mark Goulbourne, Cara Fava, Patrick Olson, Elizabeth Olson and Jack Olson; great grandchild, Xavier Goulbourne; many nieces and nephews; grand dogs, Tara Fava, Quincy Adams, Jazzy, Jewel, Buster and Sammy. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kenneth and Marine Boulier.

Sondra Kay Miller

Sondra K. Miller (Roberts), 67, of Lincoln, passed from this world on Saturday, November 27, 2010. She was born on August 24, 1943 and was a lifelong Lincoln resident. Sondra was a member of the National Cosmetology Association, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 131 and Beta Sigma Phi. Soni was a licensed beautician for over 45 years and owned/operated The Style Station for most of those years. Soni will be remembered by her quick wit, personal strength and strong will. Known fondly as Grammy by her grandchildren and Aunt Soner by her niece and nephew, she was a role model of an independent woman. She loved going to the Casinos and could always be counted on to be FUN to be around.

Visitation: visitation 1 hour before service begins.

Service: Services: Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 North 27th Street, Lincoln NE, 68503

Family includes: Daughter, Debra Sherard; Lincoln, Grandchildren JR and Lindsey Koch and Skyler and Nyla Sherard, all of Lincoln; Brother and Sister-in-Law Loren and Barbara Roberts, Niece Terri Lynn and her husband, Steven Anderson, along with their two children, Andrew and Megan, all of Lincoln; Step-brother and wife, Bob and Bobbie Spitz and family of Normal, IL as well as cousins and special friends and of course, her little Chihuahua, Pippi.

Preceded in death by: Parents Dale L. Roberts, Thora Jeanne and Leo Spitz.

Billy Lee Johnson

Billy L. Johnson, 64, of Lincoln, died Sunday, November 19, 2010, in Lincoln. He was born September 2, 1946 in Fayette, AL, to John Aster and Alice (Wilson-Mathis) Johnson. Billy worked as an immigration officer.

Service: Life Celebration Gathering: 1-5 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 5620 Adams Street.

Frederick “Rick” Sueverkruepp III, 53, Firth, died Tuesday (11-30-10). Born (9-21-58) in Ft. Crook, Nebraska to Frederick and Arlys (TenHulzen) Sueverkruepp II. Corrections Officer, State of Nebraska. U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. Member: First Evangelical Free Church.

Carrie E. Olson-Fava, 54, of Henderson, NV, died Saturday, December 4, 2010, in Lincoln. She was born in Wahoo, NE, March 5, 1956, to Ralph A. and Sara E. (Boulier) Olson. She was a high school teacher, and a member of the Girl Scouts, American Legion Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Star, Presbyterian Church and the P.T.A.

Service: Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010, Ceresco Covenant Church, Ceresco, with Pastor Jodie Moore officiating. Further services, 12:00 noon, Saturday, December 11, at Henderson Presbyterian Church, 601 North Major Ave, Henders

Iona Marie Davison

Iona M. Davison, 76, of Seward, formerly of Greenwood, NE, died Thursday, December 9, 2010, in Lincoln. She was born December 25, 1933, in Fairfield, NE, to Glenn and Myrtle (Koplin) Hoyt. Iona was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, NE and Greenwood Library Board. She worked for Telex Communications for 20 plus years, retiring in 1998, and was also owner/operator of Greenwood Grocery for 3 years. She liked traveling, doing puzzles and reading books. Iona loved her kids, and grandkids especially, and was known for being an excellent cook.

Visitation: Visitation: Sunday, December 12, 2010, 1-5 p.m. with family greeting friends from 3-5 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home.

Service: Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 North 27th Street, Lincoln, NE, 68503, with Pastor Scott Bruick officiating.

cemetery: Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. in Greenwood cemetery, Greenwood, NE.

Irma Mary Ann Plachy, 75, widow of Harold, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010, in Lincoln. She was born July 27, 1935, in Crete, NE, to Miles and Helen (Matejka) Kubicek. She was a member of the Evangelical United Lutheran Church, Altar Guild, and Women’s Circle. She is a former receptionist and file room supervisor at the Nelson and Harding Law office, and the Kinsey-Rowe-Becker and Kistler Law Office.

Visitation: Visitation: Sunday, December 12, 2010, 2-8 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 North 27th Street, Lincoln, NE, 68503, and at the church 1 hour prior to service on Monday.

Service: Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010, at Evangelical United Lutheran Church, 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln, NE, 68507, with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating.

Marlene Joyce Becker

Marlene Joyce Becker, 74 of Lincoln passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011. She was born in Kensington, KS on April 5, 1937, to Delbert and Velma (Shields) Williams. Marlene was an avid bowler having been a member of the Lincoln Women’s Bowling Association for 50 years, as well as serving as an officer. Traveling and attending State and National Bowling tournaments was a pleasure of hers. She enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, upholstering and antiquing.

Visitation: No viewing/cremation.

Service: Memorial Service will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (5/17/11) at First United Methodist Church, 2723 North 50th Street, Lincoln. Pastor Jamie Norwich McLennan officiating.

Family Gathering: Family will be present at the funeral home on Monday (5/16/11) from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Family members include daughter (son-in-law), Janette (Kevin) Roesler, Lincoln; Brother (sister-in-law) Jim (Marlys) Williams, Lincoln. Preceded in death by parents, and daughter Pamela Strain.

Bessie Rowenna Richards Erbach

Rowenna Erbach, 96, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011, in Lincoln. Teacher, gardener, seamstress, quilt maker, and friend. She was born July 30, 1915 in Newcastle, NE, to Charles H. and Petra E. (Christensen) Schram. Rowenna graduated as valedictorian of Newcastle High school, class of 1932. She married William Percival Richards in 1935, and they moved to Lincoln around 1940. William died in 1943. Rowenna studied Child Development and textile and clothing design at the University of Nebraska. She spent much of her life in education, teaching in public school for a few years, then cofounding Merry Manor School of Childhood. East Lincoln Christian Church was a major focus for her life, serving as elder, Sunday school teacher, librarian, and many other roles. She married Walter Erbach in 1945. They spent summers traveling all over the world, being with people rather than being tourists. Her care and concern was felt by many world friends as well as local ones. She sent more than 100 handwritten Christmas letters yearly and cherished every person.

Service: Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, August 28, 2011, at East Lincoln Christian Church, 7001 Edenton Road, Lincoln, NE 68516.

Memorials: Rowenna was an organ donor. In lieu of flowers she requested that family and friends make memorial donations to East Lincoln Christian Church or Lincoln Parks Foundation
