Danny Wilson

Danny Wilson, age 59, of Aurora, Neb., formerly of Kimball, died Sunday, September 26, 2004, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Evangelical Free Church in Aurora. Rev. Vance Christie will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

Danny Joe Wilson, the son of Harry and Lorabelle (Morfeld) Wilson, was born in Kimball, Neb. on December 22, 1944 and died in Aurora, Neb. on Sept. 26, 2004, at the age of 59.

He grew up in Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School. Danny served in Vietnam in the Navy from May 1965 to May l971 when he was honorably discharged.

On June 17, 1972, he was united in marriage to Katherine Louise Exum at Kimball. They moved to Alda and then settled in Aurora. Manny worked as a diesel mechanic for Roy Evans and Montgomery Wards. In June of 1974, he went to work at New Holland in Grand Island. Danny worked there for 25 years until his health forced him to retire in January 2000.

Danny was a friend of the Aurora Evangelical Free Church. He was an avid football fan and loved to watch the Kansas City Chiefs most of all. Danny loved to watch his son-in-law in Figure 8 racing, and when he was able, loved to help in the pits. He liked hunting and camping. Danny really enJoyed his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Duane Wilson, and grandson, Eric Steven Wilson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Kathy Wilson of Aurora; two children, Dawn (Heath) Enderle of Aurora and Jason (JoAnn) Wilson of lowa Falls, lowa; mother, Lorabelle Burry of Buckeye, Ariz., and three grandchildren, Heath Eugene, Jr., Hanah Dawn and Cadance Dannyelle, all of Aurora. He is also survived by two sisters, Harriet Bro and Katherine Burry, and a brother, Bob Wilson, all of Arizona.

Bruce D. Juelfs

Bruce D. Juelfs – 78 years old passed away September 24th, 2004 in Mesa, Arizona. He was born September 14th, 1926 on a farm north of Potter to Lloyd and Doris Juelfs. After serving in the Navy, Bruce raised his family and was the owner / operator of Juelfs Grain Company in Potter, Nebraska for 28 years. Bruce leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Charlyne (Krueger); daughters Cindy and husband Gregg Seebohm, Dianne and husband Walker Everson, Cathy and husband Steve Knutsen, and son Bruce Juelfs Jr. and wife Shielah. His eight grandchildren will cherish the lessons they learned from him because of his love. A private family service was held.

Ty Richard Brandt

Ty Richard Brandt, 13, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Children's Hospital in Denver. Gene and Pat Dowd of Kimball, are grandparents. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at West Way Christian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Willie Coop officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory.

Ty was born April 24, 1991 In Scottsbluff, to Scott and Coni (Dowd) Brandt. He received his education in Scottsbluff schools and was currently an eighth grader at Bluff's Middle School. He was active in choir, basketball, football, soccer, and track and area youth groups.

Ty is survived by his parents; brother, Tanner of the home; and his grandparents, Gene and Pat Dowd of Kimball.

His paternal grandparents, Richard and Bette Brandt, preceded him in death.

Carol Sigette

Carol D.. Sigette, 61, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on September 15, 2004 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19 at First English Lutheran Church in Kimball. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiate. Cremation will take place and burial will be in North Dakota at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made in Carol’s memory to the Kimball Senior Friendship Center or First English Lutheran Church. The Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

She was born July 29, 1943 in Grafton, N.D., the only daughter of Chester and Irene (Westberg) Myrvik. She graduated school at Lankin and attended Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. She and Bruce Sigette were united in marriage July 17, 1964 in Lankin. Carol and Bruce had one child, a daughter, Michelle. They later moved to Kimball in May of 1971.

Carol was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Kimball. She belonged to the Kimball Sr. Friendship Center and to a Bible Study Group in the community, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Carol and Bruce belonged to the Y-all Come Motorcycle Club and were former members of the Jaycees.

Carol loved her family very much. She e specially enjoyed the recent visit over Labor Day weekend with granddaughter Brittany and greatgrandson Braydon. She had not had the opportunity to see her new great granddaughter Jaidyn in person. They were planning a trip out there in October.

She is survived by her husband Bruce, daughter Michelle and her husband Kevin Bridgewater of Meridian, Idaho; two granddaughters Brittany and husband Konrad Swartz of Nampa, Idaho, and Jessica and husband Adam Green of Dugway, Utah, and a great grandson, Braydon Swartz and great granddaughter Jaidyn Green; aunts Maxine (Nick) Sveen, Evonne Skyrud, and serveral nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alta "Toots" Shoup

Alta Shoup, 92, of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Thurs., Sept. 9, 2004. Funeral Services were Sept. 11, at the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell. The Reverend Roger Gillming officiated. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery. Visitation was Saturday. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alta Shoup Memorial Fund. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Alta Verna Shoup was born August 8, 1912 in Wolbach, Neb. to Jacob and Mattie (Rother) James. She attended school in Oconto and Callaway, Neb. After graduating from Kearney State College, Alta taught school in Custer County.

On June 12, 1937 she was united in marriage to Claud Shoup in Alliance. They farmed in Custer County and moved south of Bushnell in 1941 where they farmed until Claud’s death in 1978. Alta then moved into Kimball and in November 2001 she moved into the Manor.

Mrs. Shoup was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell where she played the organ for many years, and was active in many other church activities. She was a member of the Eastern Star Truth Chapter 262, Nebraska Cowbelles and the Moonbeam Extension Club. For many years Alta enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday Morning Coffee League.

She is survived by son Jim and wife Stephanie Shoup of Kimball, daughter Sandra and husband Mark Cornelison of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren, Doug, Matthew and Candace Shoup; two great grandchildren Meaghan and Ryley Shoup; and nephew Roy James.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claud and a daughter Carolyn Joyce.

Richard Adels

Richard A. Adels, 63, if Casper, Wyo., formerly of Kimball, Neb., died September 7, 2004 at Wyoming Medical Center.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2038 Yellow Creek Road in Casper on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place.

He was born on September 14, 1940 in Kimball, Neb. to Albert G. and Annabel F. (Garrard) Adels. He spent his early years in Kimball. The family moved to Pine Bluffs, Wyo. He worked in the oil fields as a truck driver and pumper in about every western state over the years. He enjoyed fishing, fly tying, making jewelry, and drinking coffee with his friends and talking about fishing.

Richard Adels is survived by a son, Dwayne Adels of Douglas, Wyo.; his mother, Annabel Adels of Pine Bluffsl a sister: Patricia Ring of Pine Bluffs; four brothers: Raymond Adels, Green River, Wyo., Ronald Adels, Pine Bluffs, Bruce Adels, Pine Bluffs, and Douglas Adels, Pine Bluffs; and companion, Kathy Markworth, Casper. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Carolyn Adels.

Orvile N. Tuzicka

Orvile N. Tuzicka 76 of Nebo, Ky., formerly of Kimball, died at his home on Friday, September 10, 2004. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 16 at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball. Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will be in the Kimball cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

He was born March 26, 1928 in Hayes, Kan., a son of Charles and Barbara (Dome) Tuzicka. He was raised in Kansas. Orvile entered the Air Force where he served until being honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He married Theora M. Pierce on August 8, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in Sterling, Colo., Wyoming, and Sidney, Neb. before moving to Kimball. He worked for many years in various capacities in the oil business and later worked for Cabela’s before retiring and moving to Kentucky.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice and husband Roger McCarty of Yucca, Ariz.; four sons: Dennis Tuzicka and his wife Phyllis of Sidney, Orvile Tuzicka, Jr. and his wife Lora of Kimball, Timothy Tuzicka and his wife Rosie of Orlando, Fla., and Kevin Tuzicka and his wife Kim of Paducah, Ky.; one brother Floyd Tuzicka and his wife Connie of Olmitz, Kan.; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Teddy, and a son Charles.

Jo Marie Lehar

Jo Marie Lehar, 63 of Oberlin, Kan. died Sunday September 5, 2004 at her home. Relatives include her Uncle Joe Culek and an Aunt Marie Watson of Kimball.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thurs. Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Rev. Robert Karnish as celebrant. A Rosary was to be recited on Wed. Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, who is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be in the Kimball cemetery.

Jo Marie was born in McCook, Neb. on July 6, 1941 to Perry and Libbie (Culek) Trotter, she grew up in Wichita, Kan. graduating from Mt. Carmel Academy high in 1960. She moved to Oberlin in 1988.

Others who survive her include cousins Joe Culek, Linda McGinnis, Charles Culek, Jim Culek, Beth Johnson, Paul Culek, Gene Homer, Jeanne Lokasson, Christine Wantulok and Yvonne Vigil.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Joyce Sandberg

Joyce Sandberg, 74, of Gering died Monday, September 6, 2004 at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering. She was married to Larry Sandberg, who was born and raised in Kimball.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2004 at Central Church of Christ in Gering with Pastor Gerald Parriott officiating. Interment will be held at West Lawn cemetery in Gering. Memorials have been established to Prairie Haven Hospice or to the Joyce Sandberg Alzheimer's Fund.

Friends may call at Gering Memorial Chapel between 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sept. 9. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.geringchapel.com.

Joyce was born August 22, 1930 in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Frank and Florence (Davies) Rickard. She grew up and attended school in the Lake Alice Community and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. She married Larry Sandberg October 15, 1950 and to this union four children were born. Joyce helped her husband at Sandberg Implement Co for many years. Her biggest joy in life was raising her children and being a devoted mother and grandmother She and Larry were baptized in the Christian Faith on April 12, 1960 at the Central Church of Christ in Gering.

Joyce was a 4-H leader, Den Mother for Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Leader and an avid bowler.

She is survived by her children: Janis Lofing, Kevin and Karla Sandberg, and Kelly and Crystal Sandberg all of Gering; son-in-law: Gary Diffendaffer of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren: Tyler Sandberg, Trenton Sandberg, Phillip Sandberg, Ryan Sandberg and Jillian Diffendaffer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Joy Beth Sandberg, brother; Jack Rickard and sister: Willa Apperson.

Eva Perry

Eva Lea Perry, 92 of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Kimball, died at the Western Communities-Martin Center in Cedar Falls on Tuesday, August 24, 2004. Funeral Services were held Aug. 30 at the Presbyterian Church in Kimball. Pastor Alan Foutz officiated. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kimball Presbyterian Church. The Cantrell Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Eva was born April 1, 1912 in Farragut, Iowa, a daughter of Bert and Catherine (Fleming) Kimsey. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Peru State Teachers College in Peru, Neb. in 1933. On December 25, 1946 she married Dallas Perry in Farragut. He died June 6, 1993. She had taught school in Kimball, Des Moines, and Riverside N.D., returning to Kimball following retirement.

She is survived by a sister Janice and husband Max Hosier of Cedar Falls; nephews Charles and wife Diane Hosier of Waterloo, Iowa; Perry and John Hosier, both of Cedar Falls, and Andrew Hosier of Glen Haven, Colo.; a niece Janet and husband Bob Johnson of Alpharetta, Ga.; and sister-in-law Bernie Perry of Kimball. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Gladys Swisher.

Francis W. Pahl

Francis Watson Pahl, 82, of Kimball, died August 18, 2004 at the Kimball County Manor. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 24 at the Cantrell Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Foutz officiating. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery with Military Honors by VFW Post #2243. At Francis’ request† memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Children’s Home of Torrington in lieu of flowers.

Francis was born March 19, 1922 to Robert and Winnifred (Chedister) Pahl in Kimball. He attended and graduated from Kimball High School. He joined the Army in 1942 during World War II serving in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1944. He returned to the United States and settled on his father’s homestead south of Kimball to farm. During this time he enjoyed being outdoors and hunting. He was an active member of VFW Post 2243 of Kimball where he met his wife, Freda (Swayze) Cunningham. They were married on January 19, 1974 in Kimball. Together they remained active in the VFW and the Eagles until her death in 1998. In later years, Francis enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by one son; Clarence Cunningham of Grand Island, Neb.; daughters Helen and husband Lloyd Welty of Rock Springs, Wyo., and Phyllis and husband Dennis Tuzicka of Sidney, Neb.; a nephew Larry and wife Reta Pahl of Kimball; niece Linda Buono of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren Sergeant Lloyd Welty, Jr., Bryan Welty, Michele Ortgies, Richard Tuzicka, Rebecca Tuzicka, Bryan Tuzicka and Brandon Cunningham; and nine great-grandchildren.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frieda, and brother Robert Pahl.

Lois Lankford

Lois Emily Lankford, 90, formerly of Harrisburg, died August 12, 2004 after suffering a stroke August 1. She was born August 21, 1913 in a sod house at the family homestead near Harrisburg to George A. and Annettie (Larson) Jones. A graveside service will be held at the Kimball cemetery on Friday August 20, 2004 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Roger Gillming officiating. A service was held in California on Tuesday August 17. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Castro Valley or to Hospice of Alameda County, Calif. Cantrell Funeral Home is assisting with the local arrangements.

After graduating from Gering High School she received her Normal Training Certificate, which qualified her to teach in rural schools. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse and happily helped the family during depression years. Lois pursued her teaching career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Nebraska State Teachers College and a Masters degree in Elementary Education from Columbia University in New York. Her 38 years of teaching experience included teaching in Gering and Cheyenne, Wyo. before leaving for Oakland, Calif. where she taught at the Brookfield Village and Burckhalter schools.

Lois met Tom Lankford in Oakland, Calif., who was from the same area of Nebraska. They were married on October 24, 1947 and celebrated close to 50 happy years together. Although they had no children, they were very fond of their nephews and nieces.

Lois was an active member of the First Christian Church of Castro Valley, Calif., PEO, and the American Association of University Women. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid Oakland A’s fan. She was blessed to have many good neighbors and friends. Lois will be fondly remembered as a wonderful teacher, a loving sister, aunt and friend to all that knew her. Her tremendous faith and devotion to God was reflected in her eternal optimism, great sense of humor, and her kindness and generosity to others.

She is survived by her sisters Helen Bell of Englewood, Colo.; Myrna Beard of Boise Idaho; and Gladyne Jensen of Orinda, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom, on August 13, 1997; and brothers Eldon, Morris and Sterling Jones.

Helen Betzold

Helen Virginia Betzold, 82, died August 15, 2004 at the Heritage Health Care Center in Gering, Neb. She is the mother of Judy Rupp and her husband Roger of Kimball. A Celebration of Life was August 18 at the Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff. Interment was at Fairview cemetery. Memorials have been established to Zion Evangelical Church, KCMI Radio, or to Prairie Haven Hospice. Condolences may be offered at sympathy@jolliffefuneralhome.com.

Helen was born in Ft. Morgan, Colorado on January 25, 1922 to Peter and Amelia (Best) Achziger.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alex, her parents, four brothers, three sisters, her eldest son Gary, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter.

Francis Pahl

Francis Pahl, 82 of Kimball, died on August 18, 2004 at the Kimball County Manor.† Arrangements are pending at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball.

Lillian Dringman

Lillian H. Dringman, 99 of Kimball, died on August 17, 2004 at the Kimball Health Services.† Arrangements are pending at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball.

Ramon Biberos

Ramon “Ray” Biberos, 48, of Scottsbluff left this world to be with the Lord on August 5, 2004 at Lake Minatare. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Kimball. Father Jim Golka and Father Robert Karnish officiated. Rosary services were at the Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation was Monday, August 9. Memorials may be given to Panhandle Community Services. Cantrell Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.

Ramon was born on September 26, 1955 in Dalton, Neb. to John and Jeanette (Goodsheild) Biberos. He attended school in Kimball and graduated in 1973. He joined the army after graduation where he served for three years in Korea. He met Dorene Morris. They moved to Kimball and were married in 1979. This union was blessed with three sons, Tony, Billy and Jesse. They moved to Scottsbluff to raise their family. In 1997 he married Debbie Stanley at Lake Minatare. In 1999, they re-newed their vows in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of Scottsbluff. From this union he was given five additional children, Melissa, Shawn, Matt, Stacy, and Megan.

He was a self employed auto body technician and specialist. He enjoyed working on cars, especially with his sons. Ray was also employed by Panhandle Community Services. Ray enjoyed riding motorcycles and attended a few Sturgis rallies.

Ray was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he was active in church projects. He devoted the last years of his life to his parish. Ray was blessed with musical talent which he shared with his family and his church. His favorite verse was Matthew 22:37 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” He reminded his family that “everything happens for a reason.”

He enjoyed sports, especially hockey and the Colorado Avalanche, which led him to sponsor and coach local teams at the YMCA and a Scottsbluff Wildcats roller hockey team. He creatd an indoor floor hockey league at the Guadalupe Center. Ray also enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. His family shares many fond memories of him at the lake. Ray leaves behind many friends and family. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle and son. He will be greatly missed but remembered even more.

Ray is survived by his wife Debbie of Scottsbluff; sons: Tony, Billy, Jesse; step-children Melissa, Shawn, Matt, Stacy, and Megan; father John Biberos of Kimball; four grandchildren; sisters Teresa Bunner of Gurley, Charlotte Johnson of Gurley, Jenifer Fischer of Sidney, Anita Robinson of Grand Island, and Juanita Biberos of Kimball; brothers Buddy, Albert and Mario Biberos of Kimball and Arnie Biberos of Sidney; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette.
