Anne Bogert
Anne G. Bogert, 89 of Kimball, died at her home on Monday, July 14, 2003. A funeral service was July 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball. Pastor Bradley Heinecke of Sidney officiated. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Prairie Haven Hospice. The Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
She was born August 25, 1913 in Beatrice, NE a daughter of John and Grace (Schmidt) Adels. She moved to Kimball with her family in 1919. On June 26, 1948 she was united in marriage to Elmer Bogert in Laramie, WY.
Anne helped her husband with his automobile business for many years. They were a member of the Nebraska Independent Automobile Dealers Association. She was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Kimball.
She is survived by her husband Elmer, one son Roger Bogert of Kimball, a daughter Becky Lambert of Antioch, CA, two brothers Bill Adels of Pine Bluffs, WY and Vern Adels of Loveland, CO, and one sister Ella Brandmeier of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Chris Bogert of Dix, Monica Bogert of Henderson, NE, and Lucas Lambert of Antioch, CA, and three great grandchildren, Clayton, Sam, and Ericka Bogert.
Her parents, a son Donald, a sister Mary Nagel and brothers, Tom, Clarence, John, Herman, and Albert preceded her in death.
Raymond L. Muhr
Raymond Leroy Muhr, formerly of Kimball and the brother of Larry Muhr of Kimball, died July 3, 2003 at his home in Mosier, Ore. at the age of 73. Memorial Services were held at West Chehalem Friends Church in Newberg, Ore. on July 12.
He was born to Cecyl and Julia (Babe) Muhr Dec. 6, 1929 in Bridgeport, Neb. Ray grew up on the family farm in Western Nebraska and attended college at Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. He married
Miriam Joy Miller on February 12, 1950 in Chadron. They moved their family to Newberg, Oregon in 1960. Ray worked at Tektronix in Beaverton, Oregon for 23 years until his retirement. He then began traveling with his wife in their motor home and eventually settled into their summer home in Mosier, Ore. and their winter home in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Ray was well known for his involvement with both F.F.A and 4-H and as a Master Gardener.
He is survived by his wife of 53 1/2 years, Miriam, and his children: Stanley and LaVern Muhr of Woodland, Wash.; Sue and Jeff Campbell of Vancouver, Wash.; Steve and Jeannia (Willow) Muhr of Newberg, Ore.; Marcia and Dwayne Astleford of Dundee, and Mike and Mintha Muhr of Silverton. His siblings are Glenna Jansen, Darlene Gibbs, Bonnie Libby, Larry, Gary, Leon and Doyle, and preceding him in death, Lois Holland and Marvin.

Helen Cedarblade
Helen Cedarblade, 91, formerly of Kimball, passed away July 21, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcom. She is survived by her daughter Sandy Koerner, brother Jack Basham, sisters Marge Burtard and Juanita Marsh, and numerous nieces and nephews. She attended Faith Bible Chapel for many years. Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, and services are 3 p.m. Monday, July 28, both at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel. Interment is at Crown Hill cemetery.
Mary E. Long
Mary Ellen Long, 78 of Kimball died on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Cantrell Funeral Home of Kimball. Pastor Virgil Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Kimball cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was born July 22, 1924 in Harvey, Iowa a daughter of James and Lula (Terral) Awrty. She graduated high school in 1942 and then trained as a nurse's aid and worked in that profession in Knoxville, Iowa at the Veterans Hospital until her marriage to Joe Rose.
Mr. Rose died in 1966. Mary also worked at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo. for ten years. She married
Donald "Pat" Long on June 2, 1972. She and Pat raised cattle on their ranch south of Kimball. She also went to work for George Risk Industries in 1990. Her husband died on August 12, 1994. Mary continued to work for GRI until 1997. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and belonged to several other clubs and organizations.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Mary Cochran and a step-son Arnold Cochran and his wife Sandy, all of Kimball; brother Bill Awtry of Harvey, Iowa; nine grandchildren including Von Rose Selmont of Ala.; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, a daughter Martha Ellen Ross and an infant daughter Marilyn May, a brother Jim Awtry and a step-daughter Patti Johnson.
Craig Wheeland
Craig A. Wheeland 43 of Kimball, died on Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Kimball Health Services. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 3 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiate. Burial will be in the Dalton cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2nd from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m.

He was born October 7, 1959 in Hastings, a son of Richard and Verdell (Riese) Wheeland. He married
Darcee Aurich on June 9, 2001 in Kimball. Craig grew up and attended schools in Lincoln and Omaha, he then came to Kimball in 1982 to work for Al Holland, in the oil fields, he also worked for the Holiday Restaurant as well as for Larry Wallin at LW Service and was currently employed by Clean Harbors Environmental Services.
Craig enjoyed being outdoors, as well as bowling, auctions, decorating with Christmas lights, he was an avid Bronco's fan and enjoyed cars and sports.
He is survived by his parents Richard and Verdell Wheeland of Omaha; wife, Darcee of Kimball; son Michael Morlock of Sidney, Neb.; daughter Krindell and husband Patrick Leonhardt of Kimball; sister Linda and husband Tim McGee of Omaha; nephews Timmy & Jeremy McGee; and grandson Joshua Leonhardt.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Bruce Wheeland and Brian Wheeland and his grandparents.
John Rains
John Junior Rains, 80, of Kimball died on Saturday, June 28, 2003 at United Medical Center West in Cheyenne, Wyo. A funeral was July 2, 2003 at the Kimball Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Kimzey officiating. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery.

He was born October 18, 1922 in Laredo, MO, a son of John Henry and Allie Mae (Coffman) Rains. He married
Helen Irene Boone on June 28, 1942 in Kansas City, KS. They lived in Independence, MO until moving to Kimball in 1955.
John served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a mechanic during WW II. After the service he continued as a mechanic and upon his move to Kimball worked for Plains Construction, Tritt Motor and Brake, Dan Kinnison, and for the Ford Garage for a number of years before retiring in 1984 due to ill health.
He was a charter member of the Kimball Oak Street Southern Baptist Church where he devoted many hours of his time and served as a deacon of the church. John was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen, a son Larry and wife Betty Rains of Ringwood, OK, and two daughters Betty and husband Richard Elliott, and Joyce and husband Buddy Biberos all of Kimball. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
Marjorie J. Bohac
Marjorie "Margie" Bohac, age 74 of Kimball, Neb., died at United Medical Center-West in Cheyenne, Wyo., on Thursday June 19, 2003. A Funeral Service was June 24 at the Trinity United Methodist Church of Kimball with the Reverend Roger Gillming officiating.
Burial was in the Kimball cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
She was born on August 9, 1928 in Proctor, Colo., to Fred and Opal (Maley) Kretz. She attended and graduated from the Sidney, Neb. school district. She married
Jim Bohac on April 4, 1948 in Kimball.
Marjorie worked as a telephone operator in Cheyenne, Sidney and Kimball. After raising her two daughters she went to work for State Farm Insurance and later Tri-State Insurance. Mrs. Bohac was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling. She played bridge and was an avid Husker fan. Margie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband Jim Bohac of Kimball, two daughters, Susan and husband Bruce Card of Lincoln, Neb., and Becky Bowser of Crownpoint IN.; grandchildren Daniel, Michael and Kimberly Bowser; Sisters Marilyn and husband Cork Booth of Sunol, Neb. and Miriam Groskopf of Portland, Ore. and brother-in-law Lavene Ellsworth of Portland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lorene Ellsworth.
Doris Barrett
Doris May Barrett, 82 of Kimball died at the Kimball Health Services on Wednesday 18, 2003. A Funeral Service was June 21 at the Kimball Presbyterian Church with the Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiating. Burial was in the Kimball cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Kimball Presbyterian Church or Prairie Haven Hospice. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barrett was born on Jan. 30 1921 in Keith County to George W. and Ruth (Purdy) Churchill. She attended school in rural Dawson County, graduating from Overton High School. She attended Kearney State College earning her teaching certificate.
She taught in rural schools in the Overton area. She married
Lyle Barrett in Nov. 22, 1941 in Kearney, Neb. They resided in Banner County where they operated the family farm and a raised a family. She moved to Kimball in 1983. Mrs. Barrett was a member of the Kimball Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, the Sunbeam Extension club of Banner County, a 50-year member of the Pythian sisters of Banner County and a member of the Eastern Star.
She was also active in Church Women United as well as other church functions. She was a devoted mom and grandma.
She is survived by two sons, Floyd W. and wife Pat Barrett of Kimball, Charles A and wife Kaye Barrett of Arvada CO. Grandchildren Brent Lee and wife Julie Barrett, Brenda Lynn and husband Paul Richter, Lyle A Barrett, Stephanie K. Barrett, Johanna M and husband Jerry Thomas, Cynthia and husband Glenn Krutsinger, Jeffrey and wife April Vian and Andrew Vian. And eight Great-Grandchildren.
Mrs. Barrett was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle, daughter Gloria Woods, brother Warren Churchill and sister Fern Wood.
John Wynne
John Thomas Wynne, 78 of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Wednesday June 18, 2003. A Memorial Service was June 20 at the Cantrell Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert Karnish officiating. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment was to take place at the Kimball cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.
He was born in Banner County on March 26, 1925 to Johnnie Thomas and Ethel (Gwartney) Wynne. He attended school in Banner County. He and Margaret Schadegg were married
on November 18, 1944 in Kimball. John owned and operated Kimball Body Works for 53 years retiring 5 years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; three sons Johnnie and wife Darla Wynne of Cheyenne, WY, Rick and wife Julie Wynne and Douglas Wynne all of Kimball.; three daughters, Audrey and husband Richard Waggoner of Parker, CO, Michelle and husband Jerry Brown of Kimball and Valarie and husband Rod Wilson of Ft. Collins, CO; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Earl L. Fields
Earl L. Fields, 79 of Kimball died at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday June 14, 2003. Graveside service at the Kimball cemetery were June 17 followed by a memorial service at the First English Lutheran Church. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker will officiated.
Memorials may be made to Earl Fields Memorial Fund in care of the family. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born in Tescott, KS on June 25, 1923 to Erve and Nellie (Wience) Fields. He attended school at Tescott. He entered the Army serving in World War II in the European Theater where he flew 36 combat missions over Germany.
After he was discharged from the service he and LaVera Schneider were united in marriage on October 20, 1946 in Russell, KS.
Earl worked in the oil fields for ROSCO of Russell, KS until 1955 when the coupled moved to Kimball and he worked in the oil fields around the area. In 1964 he went to work for the Kimball Police Department and the Kimball County Sheriff's office as a dispatcher, retiring in 1982. Earl was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife LaVera, two sons Mark and wife Christie Fields of Orange Park, FL and Randall and wife Sue Fields of Sidney, one daughter Sandra Warden and husband Bill of New Castle, TX. Sisters Ruth Lehman of Smolen, KS, Alice Startzman and husband Danny of Bennington, KS and Dorothy Berry of Salina, KS. Six Grandchildren, and five Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Earl, brothers Guy, Everett, Dale and David, sisters Violet McLaughlin and Beulah Weis.
Marjorie Siewert
Marjorie D. Siewert, 92, of Park Place Blvd., Kissimmee, Fla., passed away Sunday, June 8, 2003. Born on May 27, 1911 in Columbus, Neb., she was the daughter of Ernest and Nellie Meays.
She married
Kyle B. Siewert in 1932. They lived in Columbus and Kimball, Neb. where Kyle was the J. C. Penney store manager. While in Kimball, Marge served as the Methodist Church treasurer. They moved to Central Florida in 1986. Her husband Kyle preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children Kay Clinger of Scottsbluff, Neb.; Richard Siewert of Sun City West, Ariz.; and Kathy Statka of Lake Buena Vista, Fla; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, Inc., P. O. Box 1449, Goldenrod, FL 32733-1449. Grissom Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Shirley Petersen
Shirley Kay Petersen, 66 of Dix, Neb. died at her home on Saturday, June 7, 2003. Funeral Services were June 11 at the First English Lutheran Church. Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker officiated. Burial was in the Dix Rural cemetery.

She was born in Hebron on July 15, 1936 to Fred Roy and Emma Katherine (Dirks) Beanblossom. She attended school at Carleton High School where she graduated in 1953, she then moved to Potter and worked for the Potter State Bank, the Potter Sundry, as well as the Coop Elevators in Potter, Dix, and Kimball. She also worked for the ASCS office in Kimball, retiring in 1993.
She and Dennis Petersen were married
on October 8, 1976 in Sidney. They lived in Potter and Dix moving to Dix in 1984. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the WELCA of First English and the Dix Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, two daughters Deb and husband Don Forbes of Sterling, CO and Cindy and husband Lee Stewart of Sidney. Sisters Loretta Maxine McKay of Lincoln, Doris Lucille Skinner of Hastings, and Waunetta May Weichel of Fairbury, one brother Fred Leroy Beanblossom of Doniphan. Grandchildren, Sarina Holly Usher and her fiancÈe Mike McNally, and Jessica Lee Stewart all of Sidney, Matthew David Thies and B.J. Forbes both of Sterling, CO, and one Great Grand Child Austin Lee Usher of Sidney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ida Lodema Busch and Roma Fay Leggett.
Robert Hascall
Robert James Hascall, 78, of Gering, Neb. died June 5, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. Memorial services will be June 12 at 2:00 P.M. at Central Church of Christ in Gering with Pastor Victor McPeak officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview cemetery with military honors by the Gering American Legion Post #36.
Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Church of Christ, Northfield Villa or Banner County History Museum.
Bob was born on July 16, 1924 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Fred and Alice (Brown) Hascall. He grew up in Banner County, Neb. and graduated from Banner County High School in 1942. He married
Loretta McKee in Junction City, Kansas on October 24, 1945. Bob served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army 1945-47. He sold cars and trucks and was district manager for Diamond T & Diamond Reo Trucks in Scottsbluff & Mack Trucks in Minnesota before returning to Nebraska to retire.
Bob was a member of the church, Masons, Elks, and American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years Loretta, daughters Pat (Peter) Stolberg of Sarasota, FL., and Judy (Bob) Tupper of Columbus, NE.; granddaughter Sarah Sears, grandsons Joshua Stolberg, Jason Stolberg, Zachary Tupper & Zane Tupper and great grandson Asher Stolberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dan.
