Venetta 'Bud' Davis
Former Potter and Kimball resident Venetta Louise 'Bud' Davis, 80, of Magnolia, Ark., died Saturday, January 26, 2002, at Magnolia City Hospital.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 29 at Lewis Park cemetery.
She was born April 13, 1921, to Homer and Louise Light of Potter. She was a retired bank teller for American National Bank in Kimball. She was a member of Kilgore Lodge Methodist Church and was formerly active in the Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband John Davis of Magnolia; son Jim Davis of Chicago, Ill.; daughter Jill and Jeff Ellis of Magnolia; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Florence Farmer
Florence Emma Farmer, 102, of Kimball, died Tuesday, January 22, 2002, at the Kimball County Manor.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cantrell Funeral Home.
Charles Richard Taylor
Former Kimball resident Charles Richard Taylor, 79, of Centralia, Wash., died Wednesday, January 2. He is the brother of Judy Stecks of Pine Bluffs, Wyo.
A private family service will be held. Cremation arrangements have been made.
He was born August 19, 1922 to George and Edna (Philpot) Taylor in Grant, Neb. He served in the U.S. Navy from August 1942 to March 1947. He married
Wyoma Small June 8, 1973, in Reno, Nev. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Washington Irrigation and Development Company.
He is survived by his wife Wyoma; sons Charles Richard Jr. and Ted, both of Douglas, Wyo.; stepson Jay Small of Chehalis; daughter Shelly Coon of Pacific; stepdaughter Peggy Hinrichs of Casper, Wyo; sisters Judy Stecks of Pine Bluffs and Myrna Lowe of Woodland, Ala; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia Marie Lobb Underdown
Sylvia Marie (Saarinen) Lobb Underdown, 80, died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, Scottsbluff. She owned and farmed land in Kimball County.
At her request no services will be held; cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park. Inurnment will be at Greenwood cemetery in Sidney.
She was born May 10, 1921, to August Saarinen and Karoliina Joutsen, in Sublette, Wyo. After her parent's death, she was adopted by Jadon O. and Edythe Mae (Baker) Lobb of Dalton. She married
Lt. John Wesley Underdown, of Sioux Ordinance Depot, Sidney, on September 2, 1944. She and her husband moved from Sidney to the Residency Care Center in August of 1992.
She is survived by a daughter, Rita A. LaCroix Danklefs of Austin, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; son Dennis; three brothers and three sisters.
Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Richard M. Novotny
Richard M. Novotny, 70, of Kimball, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at United Medical Center West in Cheyenne, Wyo.
Funeral Services were Saturday, January 12, 2002 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. The Rev. Roger Gillming will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kimball cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2243.
Richard Michael Novotny was born November 30, 1931, south of Kimball to John and Mary (Skoil) Novotny. He was a farmer.
He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict and had served aboard the U.S.S. Bryce Canyon. He had been a master carpenter in the Navy.
After his discharge from the service he worked as a master electrician and was a troubleshooter with the Boeing Company, working on a number of the missile sites in the area.
He had played saxophone in the Navy Band. He formed and played in his own Polka band. He participated in many Czech Festivals held in the area and was a member of the Czechs of the Panhandle.
He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles.
He married
Carol A. Kotarski were married
in Orange County, Calif. on May 27, 1955.
He is survived by his wife Carol; a son and daughter-in-law Richard J. and Nancy Novotny of Bushnell, two brothers; his twin Ronald J. and his wife Mary Novotny of Sun City, Arizona, and William and his wife Esther Novotny of Kimball; sisters Lynn Locke of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Alice and her husband Edward Chamberlain of Waco, Texas and grandchildren, Heather, Natalie, Sarah, Julie and Eric Novotny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son James M., and a brother John L.

Evelyn P. Ramirez
Evelyn P. Ramirez, wife of Isabel Ramirez, died Dec. 24, 2001 in Scottsbluff. She worked many years for the Social Security Administration in Scottsbluff. Isabel has owned Modern Printing in Kimball since 1979 and commutes from Gering.
Kyle B. Siewert
Former Kimball resident Kyle B. Siewert, 89 of Kissimmee, Fla. died Saturday, January 5, 2002.
Memorial services were held at Grissom Funeral Home & Crematory in Kissimmee on January 7.
He was born in Columbus, Neb. on October 17, 1912, where he attended school.
While in high school, he started working for the J. C. Penney Company. In 1943, he transferred to the store in Kimball as store manager. In 1961, he left the Penney Company and opened his own clothing store called "Kyle's of Kimball." He operated this store until a devastating fire nearly burned down several businesses including Morgan Drug Store, Larson Jewelry and Kyle's.
He then worked for the Western Nebraska Observer for a short period of time before taking the position of Business Manager for the United Methodist Conference of Nebraska from which he retired.
He and his wife Marjorie moved to Kissimmee, Fla. in 1986 where he lived until his death.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, The Masonic Lodge and the Kimball Volunteer fire department where he was the secretary for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie D. Siewert of Kissimmee; one son Richard of Sun City West, Arizona; two daughters, Kay Clinger of Winter Garden, Florida and Kathy Stastka of Lake Buena Vista, Florida; one sister, Betty Siewert of Denver and one brother Robert Siewert of Riverton, Wyoming; five grandchildren and nine great-grand children.

Ralph B. Stanfield
Former Kimball resident Ralph B. Stanfield, 88, of Scottsbluff, died at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home on Sunday, January 13, 2002. He had been a resident of the Veterans Home for a number of years.
Graveside Funeral Services were Tuesday, January 15, at the Kimball cemetery, with the Rev. Francis Curran officiating. Presentation of the flag was conducted by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2243 of Kimball.
He was born July 18, 1913 in Kimball to Fred and Viola (Harpster) Stanfield. He attended public schools in Kimball and graduated from Kimball High School in 1931. He entered the U.S. Army and served during WW II with the 2nd Armored Division in Africa, Italy, Sicily, and France. After his discharge from the service he returned to Kimball where he worked on various farms in the area until his retirement.
He is survived by his brother Robert Stanfield and his wife Mary of Kimball; sister Leatha Bushor of Kimball; nieces Esther Phillips, Shirley Kinnison, Kathleen O'Brien, and Sue Wallesen; and nephews Robert Stanfield, Jr., Ken Bushor, Jr., and Charles Wood.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister Ruth, two half brothers, Jesse Stuart and Raymond Stuart and a half sister, Marjorie Wood.

Frank L. Joska
Frank L. Joska, 78, of rural Pine Bluffs, Wyo. died Wednesday, January 2.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 5, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs, with the Rev. Thomas Cronkleton will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at the Kimball cemetery. Recitation of the Rosary was held Friday, January 4 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.
He was born September 27, 1923, to Anton and Antonie (Culek) Joska at Bruno, Neb.. He grew up there and attended Bruno and North Bend schools. After moving to Madison, Neb., he graduated from Liberty Consolidated High School.
For many years, he farmed and ranched in southwest Kimball County.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Pine Bluffs and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by brothers Frederick Joska of Pine Bluffs, and Anton Joska of Kimball and sister Marie Beranek of Kimball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph and James Joska.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or to the Kimball County Hospital.
Leta Adamson Conrad
Leta Adamson Conrad, 88, of Longmont, Colo., died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001. She grew up in Kimball and attended high school here.
Memorial services were Saturday Nov. 17 at First United Methodist Church. Inurnment was at Longmont Mountain View cemetery.
She was born August 14, 1913, to Arthur and Lillian (Stickley) Whiteman in Seneca Neb. She married
Harold Adamson October 18, 1930, in Sterling, Colo. She married
Forrest Conard on November 12, 1953, in Longmont.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Ramona Hervey of Longmont and Shirley Gloor of Fort Collins; step-daughters Jean Bennett of Bartlesville, Okla., Dorothy Murphy of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Carol Soucie of Arvada; sisters Avis Hicks of Sandy, Utah and Beryle Howe of Basalt, Colo; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, an infant daughter, a stepdaughter, four brothers and two sisters.

Kenneth Gene Larson
Kenneth Gene Larson, 69, of Gering, died Saturday, January 5, 2002.
A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 11, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Gering, with Rev. Thomas Miles and Rev. Ed Hunzeker officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn cemetery in Gering, with military honors by Admiral Dewey Post #1681 VFW. Friends may call the Gering Memorial Chapel Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 7 pm.
He was born in Kimball on February 1, 1932, to Fred H. and Evelyn M. (Wilger) Larson. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1951 and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for one year before being drafted in 1952. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955. After his honorable discharged from the Army, he returned home to help operate the Little L Ranch in Banner County.
He married
Judith E.McMaster on September 17, 1961, and moved to Gering in 1964.
He attended Nebraska Western Technical College at Sidney taking courses in building construction. He worked as a general contractor.
He was an active member of the York Rite of Freemasonry. He was a member of the Scotts Bluff Lodge #201 AF and AM. He served as Commander of the Knights Templer in 1960. He was very active in the Panhandle Shrine Club and the Tehama Shrine Temple of Hastings, in 1992 he transferred his membership to the NAJA Temple. He loved being part of the Clown Patrol and driving his 1927 Model T with the Parade Unit.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth F. Larson of Rapid City, S.D.; daughter and son-in-law, Karen L. and Scott D. Mousel of Juniata, Neb.; sister and brother-in-law Joan and John D. Knapp of Kimball; brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard and Agnes Larson of Gering, Neb., Donald Larson of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife and both parents.
A memorial has been established to Shriners Childrens Hospital.
Rodney Howard Seymour
Banner County resident Rodney Howard Seymour died December 28, 2001.
Memorial services will be held January 5, 10 a.m., at Albin Baptist Church. Cremation has taken place.
He was born May 6, 1935, to Goldie Ellen (Gillam) and Ray Seymour. He was a resident of Banner County for 40 years. He worked on Bull Canyon ranch for 30 years, as well as helping other area farmers.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy; children Goldie Seymour, Patricia Dykes, Robin Iliff, Rodney Seymour Jr., Randall Seymour, Penny SaenzPardo and Christopher Seymour; brothers Lenoir Seymour and Raymond Seymour; sisters Dorthea Sloane, Helen Piep and Joanne Seymour; 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Russell and granddaughter Jennifer Grube.
