Willard J. Shepard

Former area resident Willard J. Shepard, Sr., 76, died Monday, December 10, 2001.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 14 at the Platte Funeral Chapel in Wheatland Wyo. Inurnment was at the Wheatland cemetery.

He was born March 2, 1925, in Bushnell to George and Alma (Walton) Shepard. He grew up in Kimball and graduated from Bushnell High School in 1942. He farmed until joining the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He married Louise M. Steinmark in Pine Bluffs in 1954. They moved to Cheyenne in 1963 and to Wheatland in 1968. He worked for Reiman & Werth until retiring in 1987.

He is survived by two children Tambra and her husband, Barry Wilhelm of Wheatland and Will Shepard and his wife, Laura of Evanston; a sister Doris Sumner of Cheyenne; brothers Ray Shepard of Powell and Dick Shepard of Norman, Okla.; his ex-wife Louise Shepard of Wheatland and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son George and three brothers Raplh, Cecil and harry.

Memorials may be sent to Moose Lodge #1626 Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 433, Wheatland, Wyo. 82201.

Velma Greenlee

Velma Greenlee, 92, of Gothenburg, Neb., died Dec. 20, at Cozad Nursing Home. She was the mother of Tim Greenlee, formerly of Kimball.

Funeral services were tentatively scheduled for Monday, Dec. 24, in McCook.

Oren Cox

Former Kimball and Potter resident Oren Cox, 83, of Sidney, died Thursday, December 27, 2001, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Funeral services were Wednesday, January 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney. Burial was at the Greenwood cemetery in Sidney.

He was born May 6, 1918, in Shelton, Neb., to Clarence E. and Stella (Bolton) Cox. He attended and graduated from Kimball High School. He moved to Sidney in 1941 after living in Potter.

He served as Cheyenne County Sheriff for four years, deputy sheriff for eight years and a special deputy for 20 years. He was a member of the Police Officers Association of Nebraska, Nebraska Sheriff's Association and the National Sheriff's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Earline of Sidney; son Larry Cox of Sidney; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Melvin Flick of Morrill, Neb., and Patricia and Bill Printz of Sidney; brother and sister-in-law Alva and Beverley Cox of Escalon, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Gehrig and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the family's choice.

Marilyn Stormberg

Former Kimball resident Marilyn Claire Stormberg, 67, of McMinnville, Ore., died Saturday, December 22, 2001. She is the sister of Bill Stormberg of Kimball.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 29, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kimball. Interment will be at Kimball cemetery.

She was born to Barnard J. and Kathryn (Colling) Stormberg in Kimball on January 8, 1934, on the family farm. She attended country school through the sixth grade. She finished her schooling in Kimball. After high school, she worked at the National Bank in Kimball.

She moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., and worked at the Colorado National Bank for 22 years. She moved to Chehalie, Wash., in 1983. In 1984, she moved to McMinnville.

She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church in McMinnville.

She is survived by sisters Doris Bergin of Arvada, Colo., and Eileen Johnson of Arlington, Texas, Marjorie Stormberg of McMinnville, Ore., Virginia Totten of Murieta, Calif., and Barbara Wintergalen, of Phoeniz, Ariz.; brothers B.J. 'Jack' Stormberg of Central Point, Ore. and Bill Stormberg of Kimball; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Stormberg in 1999.

Memorials can be made to the Pregnancy Counseling and Information Center, c/o/ Macy and Son Funeral Home, 103 S. Baker, McMinnville, Ore., 97128.

Macy and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, with Cantrell Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

Barbara Lee Selk

Former Pine Bluffs resident Barbara Lee Selk, 56, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died December 14, 2001.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 18, at Schraders Funeral Home in Cheyenne.

She was born in August 1945, in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., to Lorene and Marvin Sanders. She married Tony L. Selk in August 1962. They lived in Anchorage, Alaska, North Platte, Neb., and Cheyenne, Wyo.

She is survived by her husband Tony; children Boyd, Tony, Kelly and Tara; her grandchildren and siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials can be made to UMC Hospice, 2600 East 18th Street, Cheyenne, Wyo., 82001, or the donor's choice.

Marlow L. Jones

Former Kimball resident Marlow L. Jones, 69, of Dix, died Thursday, December 6, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyo.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at Wednesday, December 12, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball.

He was born December 31, 1931, in Mississippi to Herbert and Ida Mae (McDonald) Jones. He moved to the Kimball area several years ago and most recently had moved to Dix to be with his daughter.

He drove truck most of his working life.

He was a veteran and had served in the U. S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and David Anderson of Sultan, Wash., and Dortha and Lee Ramsey of Dix; sons Marlow Jones, Jr. and Dan Jones, both of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jim Jones of Reno, Nev.; sisters and brothers-in-law Pat and Hawood Coker of Brewton, Ala., and Brenda and Tom Phillips of Florence, Ala.; brother Sonny Jones of Louisiana; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rusty Jones and brother Gene Jones.

Memorials may be made to the Marlow Jones Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Gerald "Gene" Morgart

Bushnell resident Gerald E. "Gene" Morgart, 76, died Thursday, December 6, 2001, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

Funeral services were held Saturday December 8 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, with Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Burial was at the Kimball cemetery.

He was born on July 1, 1925, to Harry E. and Goldie E. (Gillespie) Morgart at Hamilton, Kan. He moved to western Nebraska in the early 1960's. He was a contract oil well pumper and had worked in the oil fields since he was fifteen years old.

He married Jewell Cannon on January 3, 1946 at Lyons, Kan. She died July 5, 1979. He married Marilyn (Christensen) Woken December 23, 1983.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Bushnell; sons Gerald D. "Gerry" Morgart of Kimball, Randy Morgart and his wife Neva of Moscow Mills, Mo., and Jeff Morgart of Lisco, Neb.; a daughter Donna Barrett and her husband David of Kimball; stepson Jim Woken of Ogallala, Neb.; brother Jay Morgart of Sterling, Kan.; sisters Ardis Arnold of Little River, Kan. and June Adams of Sterling, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Ellsworth Morgart, and two sisters, Vandella and his twin sister Geraldine Maxine.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department or the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell.

Veronica Anderson

Veronica Anderson, 31, of Fort Collins, Colo., died November 24, 2001. She was the wife of former Kimball resident Josh Anderson and the daughter-in-law of former Kimball resident Sherry Anderson.

Funeral services were held Friday.

She was born October 21, 1970, to Bernice and Milner Sena. She and Josh had been married for 11 years. She managed a SuperCuts location in Fort Collins.

Survivors include her husband and children, Justine and Josh; her mother-in-law Sherry (Schrader) Anderson, brother-in-law Zachary Anderson and sister-in-law Holly Anderson, all of Fort Collins and formerly of Kimball; her mother, Bernice, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and three siblings. She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials can be made to the First National Bank in Fort Collins or sent in care of the family at 3112 Colony Drive, Fort Collins, Colo., 80525. Funds will be matched by SuperCuts.

Dolores Juarez

Dolores Juarez, 101, of Anderson, S.C., formerly of Scottsbluff, died Monday, November 26, 2001. He is the step-grandfather of Richard Caudillo of Harrisburg.

Memorial services will be scheduled at a later time. Cremation has taken place.

He was born April 1, 1900, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Serapio and Maria (Munoz) Juarez.

He is survived by one daughter; one step-son; one granddaughter; four step-grandsons; one great-grandson; eight great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, two wives, and two step-grandchildren.

Jolliffe Funeral Home of Scottsbluff is in charge of the arrangements.

Linda Mae Madden

Linda Mae Madden, 53, of Greybull, Wyo., died Monday, November 26, 2001. She formerly lived in Kimball and Banner counties.

Funeral services were Friday, November 30 at the Grace Fellowship Church at Greybull, Wyo.

She was born in Columbus, Neb., to Lawrence Albert and Marjorie Mae (Bachman) Osten. She received education at Creston, Neb., and attended Scottsbluff Junior College. She married Al Madden on Jne 5, 1966, at Columbus, Neb.

She started her own business, the Mountain States Review, in Worland, Wyo., a year ago. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary $3086 in Basin, Wyo., and held offices there.

She is survived by her parents of Madison, Neb.; her husband, Al of Greybull; her children and their spouses Noamie and Loren Niemitelo of Gillette, Wyo., Bryan and Carrie Madden of Melbourne, Fla., and Tawnya and Troy Shephard of Basin, Wyo.; eleven siblings and their spouses Carrol Osten of Kimball, Leta and Kris Dorau of Kimball, Merle and MaryJo Osten of Columbus, Neb., Willie and Myre Osten of Columbus, Neb., Eldon and Gloria Osten of Shreveport, La., Leila and Rick Konaposek of Norfolk, Neb., Lola and Keith Walters of Leominster, Mass., LaRae and Rich Crow of Kearney, Loretta and Tim Porter of Des Moines, Iowa, Lee and Janet Osten of Columbus, Neb., and Terry and Lisa Osten of Omaha; mother-inlaw Eudene Madden of Kimball; two granddaughters of Basin, Wyo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to the Linda Madden Scholarship Fund, Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin, Wyo., 82410.

Florence N. Miles

Former Potter resident Florence N. Miles, 75, of Sidney, died Tuesday, November 27, 2001.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 1, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was at Greenwood cemetery.

She was born June 27, 1926, to James A. and Marguerite M. (Tillotson) Sterling. She lived in Potter as a child, attending school there.

She is survived by two daughters; three sons; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
