David A. Darnall
David A. Darnall, 81, of Mitchell, Neb., died Friday, September 22, 2000, at the Mitchell Care Center. He is a former Banner County and Lyman resident.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 26, at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell, with Pastor Tom Youngquist and Pastor Charlie Hornick officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn cemetery in Morrill.
He was born August 3, 1919, in Banner County to Arthur and Lyda (Johnstone) Darnall, where he was raised and educated. He married
Phyllis J. Ross of Bayard May 24, 1938.
His early years were spent working for his father on the family farm in Banner County. From 1945 to 1965, he was employed at Chester B. Brown Bean Co. in Minatare, Bayard and Gering. He later worked for several years for Pure Gro Chemical. In 1969, he went to work for Gering-Ft. Laramie Irrigation and retired as water master in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons and daughters-in-law Lon and Karen Darnall of Gering, Stephen and Joni Darnall of McCook, Neb., R. Scott and Kay Darnall of Monte Vista, Colo.; brothers Frank J. and W. Harvey Darnall, both of Banner County; sister Nina Burnett of Marshfield, Ma.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; one brother; and two daughters-in-law.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Robert Tilton Hill
Robert Tilton Hill, 85, of Briggsdale, Colo., died September 15, 2000, in Kenton Nursing Home. He is the stepfather of Edward Garrett of Kimball and brother of Ida Bradt of Kimball. He lived in Kimball from 1945 to 1954.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 19, at the West Chapel at Greeley, Colo. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born December 24, 1914, to Hiram B. and Anna C. (Heinze) Hill in Briggsdale. He married
Laura (Morton) Hill November 4, 1951, at Cheyenne, Wyo.
He attended Salem schools through the eighth grade. He attended College High School in Greeley for three years and graduated at Briggsdale in 1931. He farmed and worked on the railroad until he enlisted in the Army Corps. He studied airplane mechanics. In May 1942, he worked as a mechanic on bombers at Roswell Air Base, N.M. In January of 1944, he volunteered as a flight engineer for the B-29 program at Lowery Air Force Base. His crew flew 35 missions on Japan. He was discharged on August 21, 1945. He lived in Kimball until 1954, then returned to Briggsdale to farm. He retired in 1995.
He is survived by his son Hiram hill of Briggsdale; stepson Edward Garrett of Kimball; brother Orlando Hill of Briggsdale; Ida Bradt of Kimball, Hazel Graham of Greeley and Georgia Darr of Greeley; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a stepdaughter.

Ronald J. Lachenauer
Ronald J. Lachenauer, 64, of Kimball, died Monday, September 18, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 10 a.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kimball cemetery, with military honors by Kimball VFW Post 2243. Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 21 at the funeral home.
He was born on August 3, 1936, in Sacramento, Calif., to Arnold and Mabel (Sehn) Lachenauer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1964.
He married
Mary Michael on November 12, 1966, in Elko, Nev. They moved to Kimball in 1974 from Wyoming. He worked in the oil fields for a number of years and retired in 1986 after an injury.
He was a life member of Kimball VFW Post 2243. He had served as Post Commander and District Commander and Aide-de-Camp to the National VFW Organization. He was also a member of the Amvets and DAV
He is survived by his wife Mary of Kimball, son Tony and daughter-in-law Anita Michael of Ardmore, Okla.; daughter Sandy Harmon and son-in-law Randy Harmon of Kimball; granddaughters Jamie Marie Michael and Trishia Liegh Michael; two brothers, and four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one brother.

Sophia M. Terpstra
Kimball resident Sophia “Tillie” M. Terpstra, 96, died Sunday, September 17, 2000, at the Kimball County Manor.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, at the Cantrell Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles L. Bonds officiating. Burial will be in Kimball cemetery.
She was born July 6, 1904 in Holland, Neb. to Christopher and Kathryn (Schneider) Wiescamp. She and her family moved to the San Luis Valley in Colorado when she was a young girl.
She married
James Hof in 1924. They were married
for 17 years and had four children. Seventeen years after his death, she married
Henry Terpstra in 1958. He died seventeen years after their marriage.
She had worked as a homemaker most of her life and had also worked for some years as a nurse’s aid in the Alamosa Hospital.
She lived in Colorado for many years and then moved to Nebraska in 1979. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Eve and Carl Pruss for seven years and moved to the Kimball County Manor in 1986.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jim and Joan Hof of Peetz, Colo.; daughters Eve Pruss of Kimball and Jean Rotman of Kansas; brothers Casper Wiescamp and Carl Wiescamp, both of Alamosa, Colo., and Lawrence Wiescamp of Canon City, Colo.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and six great -great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands James Hof and Henry Terpstra, one son, two sisters, four brothers, and two sons-in-law.

Claraceia Morrison
Claraceia A. Morrison, 72, of Sidney, died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins, Colo.
Funeral services were September 1, at the First Christian Church in Sidney, with Father Lyle Martin officiating. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery.
She was born February 19, 1928, in Benkelman, Neb., to John and Amy (Prickett) Brant. She was raised and attended schools in Benkelman. On January 28, 1952, she married
Lyle Morrison in Benkelman. They moved to Sidney shortly afterwards and have been residents since that time. She worked at Sidney Memorial Hospital for 23 years in the Dietary Department.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Lyle of Sidney; sons and daughters-in-law John and Karen Morrison of Kimball, Wayne Morrison of Superior, Colo., and Glenn and Cindy Morrison of Sidney; brother Kenneth Brant of McCook, Neb.; sisters Hilda Redden of Imperial, Neb. and Virgina Pettersen of Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials are to the family’s choice.

E. Dean Ramsey
E. Dean Ramsey, 74, of Kimball, died Monday, September 11, 2000, at the Kimball County Hospital.
Cremation will be held with a memorial service to take place at a later date in Arkansas. At Mr. Ramsey's request, a local funeral will not be held. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 14, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at the Cantrell Funeral Home.
He was born May 12, 1926 in Jerusalem, Ark. to Sam and Tura Ramsey. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving in Korea. He married
Rose Hite October 15, 1953, at Laramie, Wyo. He then made his home in Kimball.
He was a Master Mason with the Kimball Lodge 294.
He is survived by his wife Rose of Kimball; son Dr. Dave Ramsey of Westminster, Colo.; brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Sandy Ramsey of Arkansas, Sammy and Norma Ramsey of Arizona; sister Patricia Elkins of Arkansas and sister and brother-in-law Lillian and Ellis Clairday of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Iva Lee Campbell.

John "Rick" Palser
Former Kimball resident John Richard "Rick" Palser, 56, of Greeley, Colo., died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at his home.
Cremation has taken place.
He was born Jan. 24, 1944, in Greeley to Edgar Dale and Clara Louise Palser. He attended schools in Greeley and Kimball. He graduated high school in Greeley.
He served in the United States Navy and was an engineer with the nuclear submarine program before being honorably discharged.
He married
Euleta Brake in Greeley. They later divorced.
He was a salesman in Kimball and also worked as social caseworker and engineer.
He lived in Sheridan, Wyo., from 1993 until 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather Palser of Loveland and Holly Palser of Henderson, Neb.; a sister, Glenna Reed of Sheridan, Wyo.; two brothers, Jim Palser of Sheridan, Wyo., and Ed Palser of Houston, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

LaVon Culek
LaVon Culek, 75, of Kimball, died August 17, 2000, at the Kimball County Hospital. Recitation of the Rosary was held Sunday, August 20 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, August 21 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Kimball, with Father Francis Curran celebrant. Burial was at the Kimball cemetery.
She was born March 8, 1925, in Kimball to Arthur and Olive (Dean) Bourlier. She grew up on a farm in Weld County, Colo., where she attended grade school at Larkspur Country School. She graduated from Kimball County High School in 1943. She attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. to become a teacher. Due to a teacher shortage during the war, she began teaching before graduating.
She married
Joseph Culek in Kimball on September 3, 1946. They farmed south of Kimball.
In 1971, she owned and operated the Flower Haven. During a past Farmer's Day, she was awarded the Homemaker of the Year Award. She and her husband were also honored with the Parents of the Century Award by the Kimball Wrestling Club.
She was a 4-H leader for 30 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member and former officer of the Rosary Alter Society. She was a Charter Member of the Merry Workers Extension Club and remained a member of the club for 33 years. She was also a Charter Member of the Eagles Auxiliary Club 3889 and filled the office of Secretary for the Auxiliary & Aerie for 20 years. She was a member of the Board of Directors for the Kimball Co-op Food Store for nine years. For many years, she played in the Inmate Country Band.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, of rural Kimball; her sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Connie Culek, Charles and Eileen Culek, Jim and Denise Culek, all of Kimball, and Paul and Judy Culek of Farmington, N.M.; daughters and son-in-law Linda and Dan McGinnis and Beth Johnson, of Kimball; sister Deana Rasmussen of Sterling, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and spouses and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Dennis Lee Simonson
Dennis Lee Simonson, 66, of Bushnell, died Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 8, 1 p.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church in Bushnell, with the Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Burial will be in the Bushnell cemetery. Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 7 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball and 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8 at the Calvary United Methodist Church.
He was born on December 6, 1933, in Craig, Colo. to Guy Alfred and Lola Mae (Solace) Simonson. He attended school and graduated from high school in Colorado. He married
Mary Cornell in Florence, Colo. on December 31, 1992.
The couple lived in Mead, Colo. At one time, he operated an auto body shop in Longmont. They moved to Bushnell in 1994. He purchased the Bushnell Market and Café in November 1995 and operated it until his death.
He attended Calvary United Methodist in Bushnell and had also attended church in Chappell, Neb. He was a member of the Bushnell Lions and the Longmont Elks.
He is survived by his wife Mary Simonson of Longmont, Colo.; daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Cecil Bowen of Goodland, Kan., Debbie and Rick Davis of Tucson, Ariz., and Gayla and Brian Davis of Colby, Kan.; his mother Lola Simonson of Canon City, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Michael and Carolyn Simonson of Canon City, Colo.; sisters Norma Hartkopp of Bushnell and Marla Relich and husband Mark Jr. of Canon City, Colo.; four step-children and spouses Pat and Sue Seitz of Mead, Colo., Brenda and Carl Backus of Holland, Denise Salvagni of Longmont, Colo., and Carla and Jamie Montoya of Denver, Colo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
