Clara Bragg
Former Bushnell resident Clara Bragg, of Casper, Wyo., died Sunday, July 9, 2000.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, July 15, 10 a.m., at Cantrell Funeral Home. Internment will be at Bushnell cemetery.
Constance Neusbaum
Constance LaVerne Neusbaum, 77, of Kimball, died Monday, July 10, 2000, at University Medical Center in Denver, Colo.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 15, 11 a.m., at the Kimball Event Center. Private inurnment will be at the Kimball cemetery.
She was born March 9, 1923, to Lloyd and Vera (Claggett) Stonner in Kirwin, Kansas. She graduated from Kirwin High School. She lived for over thirty years in several communities throughout Kansas. She lived in Kimball since 1955.
She married
Harold Richard Neusbaum in San Diego, Calif., June 5, 1943. She did clerical work for her husband’s business, worked at Brown and Brighton Leasing Company in Kimball, and was a homemaker.
She belonged to the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by her daughter and sons-in-law Cherilyn and James Freuden of Kimball, Pam and Allen Heim of Kimball, and Sheila and Randy Knutsen of Englewood, Colo., sister and brothers-in-law Vera Jane and Herb Glick of Plainville, Kan. and Leanne and Charles Martin of Tulsa, Okla.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in February 1993.
Delma Rae Modlin Powell
Delma Rae Modlin Powell, 51, of Torrington, Wyo., died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Community Hospital.
Funeral services were Friday, July 7 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel, with friends of the family directing the service. Graveside service and burial were at the Valley View cemetery in Torrington, Wyo. She is the sister of Janet Mulvhill and Larry Modlin of Bushnell.
She was born September 8, 1948, in Kimball to Leonard and Esther (Evertson) Modlin. She was raised on the family farm north of Bushnell. She married
Sam Powell on August 23, 1970, in Bushnell. She taught and coached for 25 years in Goshen County, retiring in 1995.
She is survived by her husband Sam; son Regi; daughter and son-in-law Nicole LeRae and Justin Hoff; sister and brother-in-law Janet and Don Mulvihill of Bushnell; brother Larry Modlin of Bushnell, two nieces and three nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Memorials may be made to the Shy-Drager’s Foundation. The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington was in charge of arrangements.
Roy M. Medbery II
Roy M. Medbery II, 33, of Schnellville, Ind., formerly of Kimball, died Sunday, July 2, at Methodists Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 8, at the Cantrell Funeral Home, with Pastor James Garrett officiating. Cremation will take place after the service.
Cantrell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Roy M. Medbery II Memorial Fund.
He was born February 24, 1967, in Okinawa, Japan, to Roy and Clara Marie (Kinney) Medbery. He was raised in Kimball by his grandparents and attended Kimball schools. He moved to California, where he graduated from high school. He served for a short time in the U. S. Air Force before being honorably discharged.
He married
Elizabeth Jane Grasmick. He was a truck driver for both Werner and J-Mar Trucking.
He is survived by his wife and sons Michael and Thomas Medbery of Gering; his father Roy Medbery of Scottsbluff; four sisters Kathy Bateman of Lincoln, Julie Medbery of Bakersfield, Calif., Laura Cheney and Lonna Town, both of Michigan; one brother Michael Cheney of Missouri; and grandfather Ray Medbery of Scottsbluff.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his grandmother Martina Medbery.
Virgil Belgum
Former Dix resident Virgil Edward Belgum died April 5, 2000, at Monroe, Wash.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 8 in Snohomish, Wash., with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
He was born October 28, 1926, at Dix to Dora and Carl Belgum. He attended District 26 school and Dix schools. He farmed for his father for a number of years and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Kimball County.
He married
Dorothy Kirstine of Hay Springs, Neb. in Rushville in 1945.
Survivors include his daughter Julie Holden, of Seattle, Wash.; sons Karl Belgum of Seattle, Don and Bill Belgum, both of Monroe; sisters Maurine Walline of North Platte, Lily Smith of Laramie, Wyo., Norma Turner of Delta, Colo. and Marilyn Krotz, of Denver; many grandchildren and great grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brother Albert, sisters Leona Zavoral and Myrna Balcom; and two infant sisters.
Ronald Green
Former Dix resident Ronald "Brownie" Green, 91, of El Paso, Texas, died June 15, 2000, in El Paso.
A private family burial was held on Thursday, June 29 in Christus Gardens of the Kimball cemetery, with the Rev. Roger Gillming of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.
He was born June 5, 1909, in Hendley, Neb. He moved to Dix in his early years and graduated from Dix High School in 1926.
He married
Irma Kronkright of Kimball in September 1930.
He was a retired manager of the J. C. Penney Company.
He is survived by son Larry Green of El Paso; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.

Charlton E. Califf
Charlton E. "Chuck" Califf, 77, of Kimball, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his home. Cremation has taken place. He and his wife, Teresa, lived in Kimball for four years.
A private family memorial service will be held.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Winner, S.D. to Edward and Merle (Donohoe) Califf. He was raised in Whitten, S.D. He married
Teresa Mathews in New Castle, Wyo.
He was a cattle buyer and had owed a sale barn in Gettysburg, S.D. at one time. He was a respected auctioneer and rancher in the cattle and agriculture industry. He had also lived in La Junta, Colo., and the Black Hills of S.D., Aberdeen and Gettysburg, S.D.
He is survived by his wife Teresa of Kimball; sons Warren Califf of Valdosta, Ga. and Lance Califf of Pierre, S.D.; step-son Doug Tope of Belle Fourche, S.D.; daughters Jeanne Runge of Sioux Falls, S.D., Cathleen Califf of Pierre, S.D., Linda Stevens of Covington, Wash. and Sally Califf of Olympia, Wash.; step-daughter Cindy Nieber of Sioux Falls, S.D.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Hal Califf of Wheatland, Wyo.; and sisters Marilyn Goldade of Wheatland, Wyo., and Beverly Hall of Jamestown, N.D.

Stanley J. Svitak, Sr.
Stanley J. Svitak, Sr., age 91, of Howells, Neb., died July 2, 2000 at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, Neb. He is the father of Ellen (Mrs. George) Vrtatko of Dix, Neb.
A Wake was to be held Wed. and funeral services were to be Thurs. (today) at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Howells with burial at St. John’s Catholic cemetery there.
He was born Nov. 12, 1908 on the home farm north of Howells to Anton and Anna (Cerny) Svitak. He married
Marie Borska April 18, 1931 in Mirotice, Czechoslovakia and they returned to his farm home where they worked and lived until moving to Howells in 1964.
A son, three daughters, and one sister survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife, a grandson-in-law, four brothers and seven sisters.

Delma Powell
Delma (Modlin) Powell, of Torrinton, Wyo. and formerly of Bushnell, Neb. died July 3, 2000 in Torrington. She is the sister of Janet Mulvihill of Bushnell.
Funeral arrangements are pending and are being handled by Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington.
Betty E. Schrack
Betty E. Schrack, 83, of Kearney, Neb., formerly of Lexington, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. She and her husband Wayne farmed in Kimball County for approximately 60 years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 29, 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Lexington, with Pastor Ken Fairbrother officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery at Lexington, Neb.
She was born December 2, 1916, at Gosper County, Neb. to Howard and Hallie Decker Thomas. She grew up and attended school near Lexington, graduating in 1935. She married
Wayne Schrack June 23, 1944, at North Platte, Neb.
She worked for the Nebraska Gas Company and REA. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 63 years and the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Sue Ann and Ray Wilson of Kearney; sister-in-law Edna Schrack of Kimball; one sister; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one husband and one brother.
Memorials may be made to the Lexington Fire Department or the First Christian Women’s Counsel.
Jennie Alice Trollope
Jennie Alice Trollope, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the Cheyenne Health Care Center. She is formerly of Albin, Wyo.
A graveside service was Wednesday, June 28 at the Pine Bluffs cemetery, with Pastor Vic Walter officiating.
She was born September 5, 1910, to T.H. and Jennie Alice (Barger) Lent. She graduated from high school in Grand Island in 1929. She married
O.L. Trollope in 1920 in Grand Island. They lived in Albin. until his death.
She then moved to Spokane, Wash., and in 1995 relocated to Cheyenne.
She is survived by her daughter Alice M. Berryman of Cheyenne, Wyo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter; one son-in-law; two grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister.
Memorials can be made to a hospice of the donor’s choice.
