Mary Ann Smith, 64, Lincoln, wife of Michael, passed away Thursday (7/23/2009) at Bryan LGH Hospital, Lincoln.
She was born December 23, 1944 at Minneapolis, Minn. to Oscard J. and Martha M. (Mobroten) Hertel.
Married to Michael John Smith on May 9, 1970 on Burlington, Iowa.
She was an Occupational Therapist at Gentiva Home Health.
Member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association, American Occupational Therapy Association, Meals on Wheels volunteer, long-time Sunday School teacher for her churches in Iowa and Massachusetts.
Member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ, Lincoln.
Survivors: husband, Michael, Lincoln; daughter, Mary Jessica Mausser, Chicago; sisters, Anita Stockbauer, Las Vegas, Nev.; Catherine "Kay" (Fritz) Conrad, Burlington, Iowa; brothers, John (Kay) Hertel, Colorado Springs, Colo.; James (Charlene) Hertel, Louisville, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (7/28/2009) at St. John's Catholic Church, Burlington, Iowa.
Burial: Sacred Heart cemetery. Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf celebrant.
The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday (7/27/2009); and from 9 until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
