Bonnie F. Halferty, 73, of Lincoln, died Thursday (12-18-08). Born April 10, 1935 in Johnson City, Kanas to Emma & Cliff Terry. Bonnie married
Donald Halferty on April 21, 1956. She lived in Lincoln, and worked at American Stores as a meat cutter. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren and sharing their lives. She loved her family and friends and faithfully attended church services at Lincoln Church of Christ. She will be greatly missed.

Friedman, Howard Bruce, 76, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday (12-21-08). He was born to Charles & Della (Bruce) Friedman on January 4, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois. Howard was an Army Veteran. Lee Hall Gray
Lee Hall Gray, (68), Denton, Nebraska, passed away, August 8, 2010, from bone-marrow failure. Born on April 7, 1942, in York, Nebraska, to Mildred Evelyn (Klinzman) Hall and Huber Nathan Hall. Her family lived on a farm in McCool Junction, Nebraska.
She was a graduate of McCool Jct. High School and the University of Nebraska.
While attending the University of Nebraska she met her future husband, Richard W. (Dick) Gray, Jr. in a zoology class. They were married
August 10, 1963. She earned a Bachelor's degree in education, a Master's Degree in Secondary Education, and 43 hours of graduate work past her Master's Degree.
Lee began the first five years of her teaching career in rural Nebraska towns: Ceresco, Walton, and Palmyra.
In 1967 Lincoln Public Schools called to ask her to teach at Lincoln East, she went. She stayed at Lincoln East for 30 years, where she became the Business Department Chair the last nine years. She taught evenings and various semesters at Union College for nearly five years after leaving East.
After nearly 40 years of teaching she retired to become a full-time farmer. Lee treasured her former students; she so enjoyed their dialogues and insights.
In 1966, while teaching in Palmyra, she and Dick bought a house and forty acres near Denton. They began to develop their little farm. Over the years they were able to buy all 160 acres of the original farm. Dick, Lee, and their sons worked tirelessly on the farm. They developed a wildlife preserve, planted trees for conservation, as well as the crops. They carefully tended their 10 acres of native prairie. Lee loved the outdoors.
She was a life-long member of the National Education Association and Lincoln Education Association--Retired. She was a long-time member of National Business Education Association, Nebraska Business Education Association, Mountain Plains Business Education Association, Alpha Delta Kappa, Lincoln Education Association, Delta Pi Epsilon, National Vocational Association, American Vocational Association, American Association of University Women, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Audubon Society, and the Denton Community Historical Society. Lee volunteered to help produce the Society's newsletter. Lee also volunteered to teach Bible School at the Methodist Church in Denton while her grandchildren attended.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and all aunts and uncles.
Lee is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Dick; her two loving sons, Brian W. Gray of Omaha, Brett W. Gray and Shannon of Lincoln, his children, her two cherished grandchildren, Alexus Lee Gray, and Conor J. W. Gray; her two step-granddaughters, Shiloh and Raven Heuertz. She is also survived by her sisters, Norma Thomas Carr of Maricopa, Arizona, her two sons, Greg Thomas and Brad Thomas; Valerie Kramer and husband, Greg, of Lincoln; and her near sister, Mary Ann Lockwood, and husband, John, of Lakewood, Colorado.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 AM Monday August 16, 2010 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, Lincoln, Nebraska, 6800 S 14th St Lincoln, Nebraska. Her inurnment will be held privately at her farm near Denton. She requested that memorials be made to National Institute of Health Bethesda Bone Marrow Failure and Aplastic Anemia Research.
Shirley A. Brooks
Shirley A. Brooks. 71, of Lincoln passed away July 30, 2010. Shirley was born on July 9, 1939, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Christian and Esther (Ninneman) Borchers. Shirley was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and a forty year volunteer at Bryan East Medical Center. She was a member of The Red Hat Club and a sorority. She was an avid antique collector and very much enjoyed plants and gardening. She was interested in fashion and had a love for animals.

Floyd, Elzie, age 90, Lincoln, died August 21, 2010 in Lincoln. Born May 21, 1918 in Taney, County, MO to William and Judy (Stamper) Floyd. Elzie worked maintenance at Tabitha Home and Construction for Dobson Brother’s Construction before retiring at age 62 to repair lawn mowers and rest.

Darlene D. Woodside

Darlene D. Woodside, 76, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, September 08, 2011, at the Christian Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska.
She was born on July 19, 1935, in Benkelman, Nebraska, Darlene was one of eight children to Dietrick and Mary (Bernard) Steinbeck. She attended school in Benkelman, following school Darlene cared for her mother and then took care of her father.
Darlene was introduced to Paul Woodside by a mutual friend. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1956. To this union one son was born: Randy. Paul was in the Marines and was stationed at Barstow, California. When he was Honorably Discharged they moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where she lived the majority of her life. Darlene had lived in Kearney the past eight years before residing with her husband at the Christian Homes in Holdrege.
Darlene and Paul attended a small Baptist Church in the country east of Lexington. The church now sits at the Dawson County Historical Society. She enjoyed watching T.V., listening to country music and was a very good cook. Darlene also made Latch-hook Rugs with her husband Paul. They used to play a lot of cards especially pitch and every year they planned a trip to the Cheyenne Frontier Days for the rodeo.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers: Marvin, Everett, Duane “Pete”, Dale & Leo.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Al Cole, officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2011 from 9-11 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Carol Ann Brown

Carol “Ann” Brown, 66, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born May 2, 1948, at Lexington, Nebraska, to Thomas L. and Ruth E. (Spellmeyer) O’Meara. Ann was a 1966 graduate of St. Ann’s Catholic School in Lexington. She was united in marriage to Bob Brown on October 8, 1976, in Lexington.
During Ann’s working years she managed apartments for Richter Properties for 19 years and spent 3 years at Uncle Neal’s.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington.
Ann enjoyed arts and crafts, playing cards, cribbage, Yahtze, hunting, and fishing. She had a heart of gold, loved being with family and friends, and new members of the family were always welcomed with open arms. She had a special twinkle in her eye and a great sense of humor. Animals always held a special place in her heart also. Ann was a wonderful lady who will be so very missed by her loving family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; Bob Brown of Lexington, Nebraska; children; Kathy (Bill) Reagan of Las Vegas, Nevada; Gina Sohn of Gibbon, Nebraska; Sheri (Larry) Maggart of Lamar, Colorado; Ronnie Taylor of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mark (Leslie) Brown of Merriman, Nebraska; Randy Taylor and Julie of Lexington, Nebraska; Melissa (Donnie) Woodside of Lexington, Nebraska; and, Chad (Jessica) Brown of Henderson, Nebraska; fifteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two sisters; Julie (Louie) Fettig of Worland, Wyoming; and, Eileen (Larry) Burkey of Broken Bow, Nebraska; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda; brother, Rick; mother-in-law, Betty Brown; and, two infant grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Neal Nollette celebrating.
Burial will be in the Robb cemetery south of Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 31, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
